LD25 — You are the Villain

Lunar Frenzy by Fireblend 2012-12-17T07:00:00

Amusingly strange concept! I'm glad it's too hard rather than too easy, though I think the giant moon is just too hard to handle with so many little mines. Maybe it's easier on a touch screen? Great art style, very clean, could see this working for a variety of projects. (:

Tiny Sorceress by L 2012-12-18T07:29:00

I laughed throughout. Awesome work.

MEMEX by Cake&Code 2012-12-18T07:47:00

Great polish, love the inclusion of story into a little puzzle game like this.

Dance Man by MrEvilGuy 2012-12-17T05:59:00

A surreal wonder. Want to see more.

Mad Princess by AdventureIslands 2012-12-17T03:46:00

Enjoyed it! The music is great. Love how the humor meshes with the dark atmosphere.

Revenge Bear by dek 2012-12-19T02:16:00

Nice! I got to level 9 and died. Sweet animations, delicious honey. Needs more growling.

You Are the Machine! by apophenia 2012-12-17T08:31:00

Arkanoid is an old favourite. This hurt my brain at first, and I'm still not sure what sort of strategy to employ. It's bind-boggling like that, in an engaging sort of way.

Behind Blue Pixels by azurenimbus 2013-01-06T18:58:00

Yay, I beat it! It was a bit hard, but mostly only due to the movement controls. I loved the music and overall idea. Thanks!

Terminal by BenW 2012-12-18T23:26:00

Wow, very mordid game. It's pretty hard. I got to the heart and lost, wish it let you continue where you left off. Very stressful and aggravating to play, but still a really well executed concept.

Trina of The Depths by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2012-12-20T00:32:00

YES. Squids and octopi need better representation in games. Good work on the art and music.

Spy Trouble by Sos 2012-12-17T22:06:00

Awesome. I'm guessing <spoilercharacterspoiler> pulls all the strings.

Gnome Alone by bitwise-constructs 2012-12-18T06:54:00

Awesome! I finally beat it. Love how it just kept throwing more levels in. Great job. Memorable game, funny voices. :]

Villain OS 8 by tommycreo 2012-12-24T22:39:00

;D

Lil Assassin by RylandAlmanza 2012-12-17T06:40:00

Love it. But I'm biased. Tricky little platformers like this rock my socks. Unofficial ghost run challenge totally worth it. :D

Pissin' You Off! by berareu 2012-12-18T23:30:00

Haha, wow. I wasn't expecting this to be so funny. It's the speed and slideyness of the puppy that does it. So cute and funny zooming around bouncing off walls. :D

MidBoss by Eniko 2012-12-18T06:20:00

I like this game.

MidBoss by Eniko 2012-12-18T11:23:00

ratking - your comment makes me think of Brogue, which is pretty much the most accessible roguelike ever. You can just click everything! Though I enjoy using the numpad for movement, I agree that this game could definitely be improved with interfacey clicky actions.

The Fall of Mr. Wily by StoneMonkeyStudios 2012-12-18T07:34:00

Hell yes.

We Are Promoted Toknight by EatenAlive3 2012-12-19T05:13:00

Great work on the music, pretty cool score.

None Shall Pass by cardboard 2012-12-17T05:53:00

Great entry. Nice simple play, awesome music and sound. I adore the natural looking graphics.

Decommissioner by Crowbeak 2012-12-17T10:30:00

Nailed it.

Minion's Defense by Scott McBee 2012-12-17T06:44:00

I like it! Tickling a giant knight with your tiny sword. It's so amusing.

Prison Escape by Tyren 2012-12-18T08:00:00

Nice challenge, lost on the second-to-last level and had to play through again, was relieved the final level wasn't as nerve-wracking. Cool concept, escaping prison while bound in zero-g.

ECHO CHAMBER by Loren 2012-12-18T06:00:00

Awesome concept. So true. Defy logic, maintain villainous dominance!

Speedrun by jmk 2012-12-17T07:16:00

Though I don't really feel like a villain, this game is quite polished and very fun. I like that it has short rounds - nice balance and depth. For some reason I feel nostalgic playing this.

A small village by EdoMiyamoto 2012-12-18T06:06:00

Nice, made me laugh when I escaped the island by ramping off the wall and falling into the abyss. (:

Superhero Slaugther by joyboxed 2012-12-17T06:51:00

Tricking superheroes into becoming villains in the eyes of the public is a grand idea. Would love to see that expanded upon in a bigger game. Also, I wish I could skip the intro text...!

Villain on a train by pinion 2012-12-19T03:34:00

Enjoyed this game! Very, very cute.

Sealed Evil by Neonlare 2012-12-18T22:42:00

Nice game with a ton of content. Very grindy, but it ramps up later. I found the most effective strategy was saving money so there are more assailants on screen, getting more souls in just a few bounces and then dying, without wasting time chasing single souls. Ha.

Angry Angus from Outer Space!!! by Xeke_Death 2012-12-18T08:47:00

Man, I really wish this worked. Sorry about that sprite bug. Very cool idea and it seems really fun. I was invested in my playthrough, since it's fun upgrading the ship... especially how the hull grows. Hope to see a playable one sometime with the sprite bug fixed. IMO, game-breaking bugs should be okay to fix during the judging period, but who knows...

Angry Angus from Outer Space!!! by Xeke_Death 2012-12-18T10:51:00

Oh, yay! It took me 20 minutes to destroy the earth, but I got to experience the glory of a fully upgraded ship. Kudos for those graphical touches. I also like that the initial hull is like Asteroids. As you upgrade your weapon, at least in the web player, there is significant slowdown. With the maximum bullet count, I was getting like 2fps during a volley. Fun, though, and an amusing story. Could totally see this scrap/upgrade system working, maybe with faster controls and greater opposition. (:

Sky Pirates by SkyPirates 2012-12-18T09:28:00

Hey, nice execution. A PvP web game where everyone's a villain to everyone else. :D

3radicat3 by nihilocrat 2012-12-17T04:45:00

Cool twist on a classic formula. Pretty challenging, but a well-rounded result for a few starting late. Makes me think about missile bombardment from a micromanagement perspective.

Let's Make a Bomb! by Xymostech 2012-12-17T08:10:00

Yay, I won. :D This is cool. I like the checklist type level select screen and Barbara is a memorable character. The physicists, too.

Double Tap by Sam Driver 2012-12-18T04:44:00

Amazing.

Land of the Weebums by vrav 2012-12-18T09:49:00

Wow, thanks for the feedback everyone. :D Fireblend, astute. I'm glad you guys enjoy it, and that it's making you feel guilty. Mwahaha, I am the true villain after all! (Just kidding.)

Will, I agree that the physics are a bit obscure at the moment. I had planned for dragging and throwing, but decided to stick with simple rubberband-style snapping (kind of like a slingshot) in order to move on.

Winterblood, I totally agree that it needs more game to it, and do have a few things in mind for a polished version. :)

Thanks for all your comments and feedback everybody, glad you are enjoying it.

GFM - I got that feeling early on myself, and kind of used that memory as inspiration. Glad someone else picked up on that. :)

Land of the Weebums by vrav 2012-12-19T21:39:00

SmallDeadGuy, jsmars, Rosy, wzl - indeed! These are things I'd had in mind from the start but didn't get to add. Also, thanks for the little review wzl!

Cosine - yeah, I really hope to polish the art a bit more. It could all be a lot more cohesive and interesting. Maybe even make the environment interactive, too.

Thanks all! To those that mention its being rather empty and pointless: I entirely agree. Thank you for playing what little there is at the moment, anyway. :]

Bad Business Croc, Nobody Likes You by intmain 2012-12-17T05:35:00

Hilarious idea. Love how you capitalized on the theme of being a villain by just being an overpowered thing that stomps almost everything it touches. The chart and jargon are a really nice touch, wish it ended properly.

Tale of Scale by ratking 2012-12-18T07:20:00

Awesome innovation. Took me a while (until a ways through cleaning) to realize what was going on. I like that it wasn't obvious at first, though I knew things were changing somehow. Very surreal and ominous.

Otaku Night Out by ekun 2012-12-18T08:58:00

Cool sprites. I like the visual style. How are you a villain? I think I beat it, but I'm not sure. Love the art though, thanks for sharing!

Fleeced by shiftingParadigms 2012-12-17T04:39:00

Nice little concept. Puzzles where you try to minimize your moves are indeed fun. Might like it if the game pushed the user towards hitting par or lower a bit more.

X-Moon by leafo 2012-12-17T07:28:00

Super rad. Enjoyed, but didn't beat (got to level 2). Nice presentation, all the effects are cool. I think I liked the shooting-up-and-exploding effects best.

Nature's Villain by bach 2012-12-20T06:31:00

Despite the difficulty, I love it. Hard is good. Nice game overall, good work!

Another Castle by RosyPenguin 2012-12-19T05:01:00

Very nice! I couldn't finish the final tower, but enjoyed the experience.

Eaten by wzl 2012-12-18T08:06:00

Thoroughly enjoyed how the omnyomnyomn sound plays in time with the music. Lyrical corpse nomming, quite sinister!

Soulless Robot Rampage by Falkreon 2012-12-17T07:36:00

Great music. I feel like everything moves by too fast, but loved the story and general idea. Thanks for including the cat. (:

The White Rabbit by kato9 2012-12-17T04:34:00

Enjoyed the graphics and presentation. I like the story, but feel a bit confused. Am I the villain because I have allowed my curiosity (white rabbit) to decay in a modern world of preoccupation and instant gratification? Maybe.

Oppression by Danvil 2012-12-19T04:20:00

This is clever and thought-provoking, well done.

We Drive Unto The Fortress by SmallDeadGuy 2012-12-18T08:39:00

Nice game, but the last level is just too tough on me. Takes forever and if you miss once it throws the whole next 30 turns. I don't think aiming adds anything to this game, especially since the CPU never misses. I could see it being an interesting strategy game without the aiming. (: Definitely enjoy the story text throughout.

Treasure Defender by Cosine 2012-12-18T21:31:00

This is really fun. Great concept for a puzzle game with the limited beam things. :)

Park to Park by Frozen Fractal 2012-12-17T09:18:00

Nice presentation here. The graphics and audio go together very well. Peace, mon. (:

In good heart by pighead10 2012-12-18T20:46:00

Very nice idea, felt good to be the villain. This concept is a real winner.

THE PRINCESS IS MINE by emveyh 2012-12-19T01:39:00

Micromanagement at its finest! Great job, had a lot of fun. Beat it on the second or third attempt. The old orc with the moustache is pretty funny, too.

LD35 — Shapeshift

dröm by Danny Gallagher 2016-04-18T02:21:00

Hmm... no luck without the web player. Any chance you could upload a WebGL version?

dröm by Danny Gallagher 2016-04-18T02:30:00

No worries Danny, I'm just out on the chromebook which can only play WebGL entries. Yours looked super interesting, so I thought I'd ask. :) I'll try it on another machine later!
