Wow! Awesome! I honestly had no idea what was going on sometimes, but awesome :D
Very powerful. Gave me chills.
Interesting. I got a score of 31! I'd love to see more when you develop it :D and nice goat sounds.
Nice! I like the idea of terraforming planets to their destruction. :D
Nice! :D Quick to win, but fun.
I won! Score: 69.
I liked the idea of seeing how long until the next enemy spawns; good job!
Awesome job!
Very nice -- I can see a potential for so much more, though! It needs to have a score at least, and a difficulty scale =p
Fairly fun. I couldn't really afford anything except healing, unfortunately. I ended up dying twice and quitting, because not keeping your orbs is a little too harsh, I think. It's very difficult to get them, and the only use is healing.
Overall, fun!
This was hilarious! Great entry, but no spoilers here.
Only problem: The controls. Very difficult :P
Very fun, thanks for submitting! The guns and power varieties were the best parts. I wish you had time to finish D:
This was awesome! Really weird, but awesome!
Loved it! This is my 61th review, but my first all-5-stars. Absolutely fantastic. You nailed the theme. Great job.
Fear is based on how many villagers you have slaughtered. You can't fight the king until you reach maximum fear!
Sorry to hear that Hume! I don't have OS X, so it's difficult for me to test for what's going wrong. Thanks for being fair.
Haha, awful font indeed. I was experimenting with custom fonts at the time, because I'd never done them before.
Fear was going to play a larger role in the game if I'd have been able to implement all the features I wanted. You would have been able to burn down houses, raid shops, etc. until your fear level reached a certain level, and then you could move on to the next town. It would be a method of creating a certain amount of destruction before you could continue.
Of course, I ran out of time!
Well, the idea is that you took over his kingdom in order to promote yourself. That's odd that the music wasn't working, could you tell me what OS you are using?
Ah, Datw D:. The most likely cause is that your version of Java is outdated. Try updating and running the application again if you can find the time! :)
Loved it! Got a score of 14, as well!
It's really tough...
It's a nice idea, but too easy to glitch out and beat. The graphics were okay, but a little too bland. If you fixed those two things it would be awesome!
Awwww.. it won't work on my computer. 32 bit Windows Vista. Error about 64 bit OS.
Nice game, and interesting twist! I've seen a couple games similar to this in that they reverse the tetris ai and the player, or the typist and the word processor, but never in a storm the castle type game.
Graphics/audio were fine, could have been slightly more exciting, like with music, or more background content. Nice job!
Nice! I kept playing until I got a score of 5000, trying to get 4 goats with one anvil. Didn't succeed, but had fun! Thanks.
It was a nice game. I wasn't particularly fond of how the bow worked, but it was manageable. Fairly easy to beat as well -- maybe add some sort of challenge other than the elfkilling/santakilling?
It wasn't particularly fun or villainous. What made it so unexciting was that you weren't really doing anything for most of the game -- it's in someone else's hands.
Nice! I think that the controls were a little too slow, and it could have used some custom text in the intro/end screen. Good job though!
Very interesting idea! Unfortunately it wasn't that fun for me, but I liked the graphics and sound! :D
I liked the idea of switching weapons, but the weapon abilities and switching was a little too slow to be natural. Nice idea, but it should be more flowing.
Nice idea, but it was as if the kid knew I was there for lots of those levels. He turns his light on the moment I walk in front of him -- not very convincing. Fairly easy to beat, so it was a little boring. I did enjoy it, though.
Amazing game!
It would have been a GREAT game, but four things brought it down.
Firstly, teleporting was bugged. I can not teleport without flying off the map. That would have been fine, but it is impossible to restart the level without exiting the game! As I played with my only other two abilities, I was disappointed that you can't use them while walking -- probably an intended feature, but not really the best of choices. Finally, the audio occurred randomly, and the sound seemingly had nothing to do with what was going on. Great idea, poorly implemented.
Very nice! I think it could have used some indicators if you were going the right way or not, and exploring the maze was a bit dull, but I enjoyed it. Definitely could have used audio!
Fun! It was a little annoying getting stuck inside furniture. Sometimes the controls were really limiting, but it was great overall.
Very cool! I enjoyed killing everyone.
A few graphical glitches with the rays and the ufos, but nothing serious! Fun to play for the first few seconds before you realize that's it :P
Good job!
I think it would be a lot more fun if you could see more easily the results of your actions. Regeneration is too slow, and the minions die very easily, so you spend a lot of time just waiting while you regenerate.
It had a nice graphics style, but unfortunately it was too small for me to appreciate everything else.
I can't make it past level four D:
Really fun, really hard!
Awesome! Multiplayer games are always interesting for me, even if there aren't many people online. My quest becomes to find one person. Anyway, nice job coding. Walking animation's a little weird, but that's fine.
Pretty generic use of tower defense, waves did not increase in difficulty at a reasonable rate. Also, how is the player/programmer a villain?
Nice! I couldn't figure out how to 'win' once I got into a safe, perhaps it was a bug with the specific level I was in (Tokyo). Regardless, very challenging, fun, and well done :D
I found it very difficult to rate, but I think that was intended... Not sure what to think. I liked the noise effect in the background for the graphics.
Fun! It was definitely a click-fest, but fun nonetheless. Also, the first time I played, I couldn't figure out if clicking on them did anything, because the health level was just some text on the right. Visual healthbars would be awesome :P
Most of it was just random clicking unfortunately. I made it to level 14 before the knights killed me. I like the overall idea, it's just poorly implemented. Also, buying new equipment is almost impossible, because each item costs 100 coins. I couldn't see how many I had, but I know there would be many levels until you could finally heal yourself :s.
Still, very interesting concept; was fun to play.
Loved it! It was fun balancing between monologue and smashing! My only complaints are: It was really easy once I decked out everything with spiky plates, and eventually when the villain started saying "Muahaha!" over and over, the only option was to let them get me. Fun while it lasted!
Hehe. It is satisfying to fling them off of their planet, but unfortunately a little pointless. The sound wasn't as buggy as you implied, it seemed to work for the most part!
Loved it, Deepnight! I love what he says :D
Nice, I enjoyed playing!
Awww, I got 65 kills before dying!
It was fun!
Nice. It seems to freeze at the end, unfortunately. Was fun and challenging!
Haha, funny. I liked the story.
Nice! I died pretty early on, and couldn't find a way to recover health (was there one?), but great idea, I enjoyed playing.
Interesting. I found it to be way too hard to be able to catch even one sheep, but maybe I'm just terrible at it :P. I didn't like the grass being everywhere -- clearings would be nice. Also, Bach is correct (woah, cool name! I love your music!) that walking is very slow.
Awesome use of AI! Some of the levels were a little too obvious, but it was pretty cool to see how the AI handled situations. It might be cool to have more blocks and see how the AI handles perhaps 6 different obstacle types.
Nice! Very interesting take on the enemy system -- make the players both the enemy and the player!
Very innovative, I like the idea of taking control where the AI leaves off. However, half of the time I had no idea what was going on. Also, the Plebs were very difficult to get past, and I couldn't figure out how to damage them. Fun, though!
I couldn't figure out the mechanics unfortunately. I managed to kind of get it, but after 10 minutes, and still I can't get it to work right. Next game, make it more simple! :S
Wooo, awesome! I love games like this where you have to sneak past cameras and guards :D. Nice!
Nice. It was neat having the yellow squares as searchlights, but overall not extremely fun. I get how this kind of fits the theme, but not especially. The graphics were nice that they were 3d, which is something I've never actually done except for raycasting, nothing as flexible as this :P. Good job, but not extremely fun.
I really liked the teleport mechanic. As jmars said, a checkpoint system would have kept me from ragequitting after several failed attempts :P. Also, the game crashed when I bumped into a wall unfortunately.. :/
Nice. It annoyed me that you can't jump when against a wall, but it was fine otherwise.
Very difficult! I eventually gave up after dying for the 7th time... You might want to give us more health and an ability to heal. Otherwise, great job!
Aw :(
I liked it! I'm not very good at strategy games, but I am good at getting potatoes apparently!
Outsmarted at Easy every time :/
I gave this one all fives. I really enjoyed it! I might have liked an auto-jump feature where if you hold down up you keep jumping, but then again I just like jumping. Awesome!
I wasn't really sure what my goal was, but I got 9 kills! :D Cool use of a minimalistic environment.
I was never really sure how much health I had left, but it was fun exploring the dungeon :P. Score 21!
Fun :P I think sound would have made this one of the best games here... :L
Very well polished! I like it :D
I couldn't get past the level with the 3 targets and the wardrobe.. I kept hitting them but I could only get one, even though I hit them correctly D:
SPACE JELLYFISH IS THE GREATEST THING SINCE SPACE AND FISH! ALL 5. LOVED IT. YOU'RE AWESOME. I NEED TO GET BACK TO PLAYING SPACE JELLYFISH NOW!
Apologies for caps. :D
My score/title is 760/Gatherer, but I'll make another post if I get anything significantly higher :P
Well, I said I'd post again if I got a higher score :P
Score: 2190
Title: Omnivore
Pods Eaten: 75
Cyclops killed: 86
Cyclops Kamikaze'd: 7
Mines ran into: 3
:D
Haha! I loved it. I DON'T WANT YOUR LOVE! GET AWAY FROM ME, HEARTS!
My best (worst?) score was 12230. I just wall-hugged and tried to hit arrows occasionally :P
I had no idea what was going on; this is definitely a 1D game! Haha.
Nice. Fairly standard platformer. I got stuck on walls when falling, but I understand you could have fixed it with more time :P
Interesting use of powerups to allow jumping.
Nice. It reminded me of asteroids. Score: 387673
It was a nice adventure. I died once. :( I screwed up.
The levels were too long, I died too often and had to restart everything D: Difficult but fun.
Try to use the passive attack where possible in order to save more arrows.
(Glad you enjoyed! Haha)
Hahaha! Thanks for the rating. I will work on composing for the next LD :P
Thanks everyone! :D
My graphics card sucks, so it wouldn't let me run it D:
Both versions had bugs unfortunately. On the web version, invisible rectangles nooo D:
On the downloaded version, it froze occasionally :/. I ended up inside one of the blocks after it unfroze, once.
The rectangles are everywhere! I killed a lot but then I got stuck inside the block :/
Fun! I love raycasting.
Interesting ideas :P I wasn't really sure what to make of it!
I knew from the middle on that this was all fives. Great job!
Really fun! It took me a while to figure out that I had to drag the cursor through the paint in order to get more on my brush, but once I did I made a really awesome ball :D
I still can't draw :(
I found moving to be a little slow and I had no idea how much health I had -- at the start I died in perhaps 3 hits, then at the end I didn't die at all after taking many hits. I love this type of game, but when you can't dodge the shots it gets a little meepish.
I had fun! xD
Hahahaha, awesome use of real-world graphics! I liked it :D
Nice. It was unfortunately frustrating to align all of the pieces just-so-perfectly. Good game anyway.
Aw.. I realized right at the end that you needed loot and I couldn't escape the last room to go back and get it :/
Awesome! The sound didn't work the first time, so after I beat it, I restarted the application.. and played through it again because the music and sound are awesome!
Amazing. You definitely rocked the mood category!
Potatoes! I like the attack animation but not the controls :L
potato
I didn't like that water level or the last one :P But it was nice otherwise potato.
Awesome! I played through both versions, loved it. It reminds me a lot of Portal.
Amazing game.
It really could have benefited from audio!
I spent the first half of my playthrough believing that colliding with people with higher popularity than you didn't make you less popular.. so needless to say I spent a while playing the game xD
A tutorial or some in-game helper text would have been nice.
Game freezes after 5 seconds of gameplay :L
@GodsBoss I am using firefox. I'll start Chrome and give it a go.
Fun! It worked on Chrome. I didn't win though :L
Very fun! I found that the controls worked perfectly, which not many games can make happen.
My minimum score was 576280 :P
I loved it! Controls in the final level were a bit difficult, but I think the movement was intended. So many controls! :P
I couldn't figure out how to download it! When I downloaded the .exe I found, it opened up a 'choose file' menu. :L Try using dropbox.
I don't know why you raycasted the walls in such a weird way :P But otherwise, I'm a fan of raycasting :D Just add sprites.
Really hard to see everyone :P
Not sure why you used a cmd to start it or why you added a pause at the end. Also, since it's a .jar, you can name it Cross-platform .jar because it works on most platforms :P
Anyway, I liked the progression of shapes, but it was rather slow.
Nice :P The player was a bit slow, but considering how much you (don't) have to move, it wasn't too much of a problem.
Fun :P. Unfortunately the game slowed down occasionally for me, which led to my death twice :S. I got an attack powerup early on, which really helped me to get far :D
I liked the simplicity, but occasionally I'd swing in a direction that I thought was kind of odd.. Maybe a small radius around where you're swinging from might be good when attacking.
It has potential (and I really like the background!), but it could have really helped to have:
- Any sort of sound would really boost up the score.
- A steeper difficulty curve
- Done through enemies that shoot at you, for example.
I couldn't beat the second level either :/ It seems like it might be impossible? Or am I missing an important element of the game? :o
There were a few collision errors, but I think it has potential to be great with a few adjustments to the controls :P
@eli: While to some people it's fun to discover the controls, to others it's really frustrating. I'd say having it beats not having it in this game :P (since it uses 3 different control locations)
Very interesting o_O I enjoyed killing all of the people.
Fun :P I don't know how I died, but it happened when I touched a box o_O. I am not sure if the key was supposed to be in different places each time I played, but it was. Nice lighting!
I was expecting the difficulty to increase as I played the game. Unfortunately by a score of 100,000 it was the same :P try increasing difficulty over time next LD.
Nice! The controls with the mouse were a little tough sometimes when I wanted to know where I was. I really loved the music and sound, though! What did you use to make the music?
Nice! It isn't very hard if you use only two spheres and a directional node, but it's awesome making your own sequences if you don't 'cheat' :P
Amazing! I found it to be really fun trying to get into the perfect rhythm! I just wish you were able to make more difficult levels.
Haha. You might do really well on the theme!
I got 548! (I was also tempted to make a program to do it, but I resisted :P)
It was a bit repetitive to be honest, and the screen shaking makes me kind of dizzy :P. Not sure what you were trying to get with the shaking.
Nice :P The level at the end had a glitch where I fell through the floaty blocks, but I eventually figured out how to beat it.
One level in particular was really evil. You know which one it was ._.
Nice use of 1-button gameplay! The jumping had something wrong with it... it's hard to describe. It just feels like I have less control than I should.
... plus, for some reason, the game skipped me to the next level when I was 3 from the end. Randomly. I'm not sure how it happened. Haha
Amazing. The graphics were very interesting in the fact that eventually, I felt like I was playing top-down in a 3d environment...
They did have some glitches at times, but it was great.
Awesome game! I really enjoyed it even though I finally gave up. Challenging!
Aw, I died at a score of 26,000. Very fun, amazing graphics, amazing audio, and more of the same. Great job as always Deepnight!
Could have used sound! (unless sound was added.. then, it didn't work on my machine. The comments imply there's sound, so I won't rate audio)
Cool concept!
This one gave me chills, and I felt sad after each ending. Good job, you nailed the mood!
Amazing audio! Hahaha I loved it. I just wish turning was a bit quicker going backwards.
.... .- .... .- -. .. -.-. . .. --. --- - ...-- -.. .. ..-. ..-. . .-. . -. - . -. -.. .. -. --. ...
Fun! It got annoying that the planets take 1-2 seconds to be able to destroy, since sometimes it means waiting for another orbit to be able to go to the next planet, but that was fine ;P
Very calming. The music is great, and the challenging curve is perfect.
Congraturations! Amazing game :P
It was kind of odd that it slowed/sped up occasionally though.
Extremely slow on my machine as well. 1 frame per 1-2 seconds.
I loved it! You did really well with the text below the screen. I couldn't get the map editor to work, but that didn't bring your score down any :D
Awesome! I was searching for my own entry, and found that you had the same name as mine :P
Really enjoyed it -- felt like an old game.
Very challenging! I didn't hear the soundtrack that's mentioned in the comments; I'm running a 32bit vista.
