LD26 — Minimalism

Burden by wilcort 2013-05-01T12:11:00

This was great at creating an intense mood and telling a story in a tiny amount of time. However, I didn't really feel the theme in this submission, which was a let down. As other people have mentioned, the collision is a bit sticky, but otherwise, the art style was oddly fitting, the gameplay was interesting. I liked it.

Car Lancers by jwolf 2013-04-30T23:23:00

Nice visual themeing, however first play through had no idea what I was doing, and the tanks didn't even get a chance to collide. Interesting idea (I mean come on, it's tanks jousting, what's not to love?) but I didn't really feel the gameplay much on this. Sorry.

Werewolf in Space by free_napalm 2013-05-02T13:37:00

I really enjoyed this, great simple little game. Good job.

Hat Guy by RARoadkill 2013-05-01T00:17:00

I managed to break the game with wall jumping. :P unique concept, but I'm not sure the gameplay made good use of it, likewise not sure how close to the theme this idea was. However, cute little game, clear instructions and worth a giggle. I'd be interested to see what this could become, with time.

Minimalism by Mathias Olsson 2013-05-01T12:53:00

Novel idea, though the very precise collision was a bit of a pain. Quite artsy as LD games go, but still quite enjoyable.

Down by HunLyxxod 2013-05-02T13:55:00

This was enjoyable, the different levels each restart was a nice touch, but I'm not seeing the point of the score board if the levels are changing. Felt polished and played well, however.

Z Jumper by Zaelza 2013-05-01T13:02:00

Not sure where the theme was in this one. I'd say the graphical style, but the lighting and particles were quite advanced. :P nice platformer, reminded me of 'Monsters (probably) Stole My Princess'. Not bad.

On Minimalism by richy486 2013-04-29T08:36:00

I can't seem to get this to run.

Minimalistic Color Labyrinth by humpback studios 2013-04-29T09:13:00

Nice idea, had an issue with screen size (running from a laptop) and couldn't finish the level. Interesting mechanic though.

Another Minimalistic War by psychomonster 2013-05-01T00:57:00

Gotta love the Willhelm Scream. interesting idea, though for a laptop user with a touch pad mouse I found the experience a bit exasperating. :P The graphics felt a bit mismatched, but otherwise it was an enjoyanble experience, more like a zombie shooter than a war 'sim'.

Minimal Shmup by mkpictures 2013-05-02T12:28:00

I couldn't get this game to open on my laptop, sorry. Windows 7, 64 bit?

Fjoxel by Pixelsalt 2013-04-30T23:30:00

Really liked this, a lot like a heavily stripped down Binding of Isaac. Simple controls, well displayed, good game feel. Nice work.

Priorities by hissssssssss 2013-05-01T01:07:00

For me, this absolutely hit the nail on the head with the theme. Good use of music, novel idea, and ultimately an impossible feeling task. Exceedingly artsy, but I really think you nailed this theme. Good job.

Quest by vinull 2013-05-01T00:48:00

Basic 3D arpg boiled down to the essentials. I enjoyed it, though found it very difficult to progress purely because of the damage out/damage in ratio. Well implemented however, and enjoyable. I ended up playing a couple of times. :)

OneEighty by Mekuri 2013-05-02T12:37:00

Not a bad first submission, though the audio was a bit grating, especially the end level noises. Also, the collision detection on the spikes was rather harsh if you're forced to jump the entire time. But otherwise, a nice little platformer.

Six Steps by Salamander3 2013-05-01T19:51:00

hiss: This was coded on a windows 7 machine, 64 bit. It should work fine - did you extract all the files to the same folder? and have you made any edits to the files at all?

Six Steps by Salamander3 2013-05-02T01:36:00

Hiss: Firstly, thanks for sticking with this.:) after a quick Google session of your error, it seems you're missing a .dll from your system32 folder. It looks to be something that affects a few people on a whole host of games, and the solution is invariably 'download a copy of msvcr100.dll'. Hope this helps and if it does, hope my game is worth it!

Piet Mondrian: Minimal Techno Dance Simulator by erdos 2013-04-29T09:38:00

Huge smile on my face the entire time I played this. Kept playing even when the music stopped.

The Simple Clicker Game by psc1997 2013-05-02T13:42:00

Probably the most minimalistic game I've played all LD. :P good humour, though the gameplay was not that entertaining. Not something that I've seen on here yet though, and definitely theme fitting. Good job.

FFFFFF- by Metamist 2013-05-01T13:18:00

Great little platformer, feels huge for a game made in 48 hours, I'm impressed. Agreed with earlier comments though, the gravity is too strong. Not sure where the theme is in this, but as a game it's very enjoyable, good job.

Tower of Pixel by AlanZucconi 2013-05-02T12:48:00

The art and music were both really nice, and the idea for the game is unique. However I personally found the gameplay a little tedious, or at least, the proposed goal - I had more fun digging around and trying to go as low as possible, rather than up. :P Otherwise, fantastically implemented game in such a small space of time. Kudos to you, sir.

Dodge by Copix 2013-05-01T11:58:00

Really didn't enjoy playing this, sorry.

Too Minimal? by AnTiCamPr 2013-04-30T23:25:00

Wanted to play, but link is producing a bad gateway/502. :(

Physix-Breaker by Kashi 2013-05-02T14:00:00

Really not feeling the theme on this one. You took an already extremely minimalistic game - break out - and for some reason made it less minimalistic by adding realistic physics to it and and putting it in 3D, unnecessarily. The music was a series of toots. It looked quite slick though.

Deja Vu by Celticraft49 2013-04-30T23:48:00

Loving the cheesy music, though repeating levels got quickly tedious after a while. Very minimalist idea though, so strong theme coming through, over all.

Too Much Loot! by CheesyRamen 2013-05-01T12:05:00

I really enjoyed this, kind of a hark back to old school dungeon crawlers. Limiting the loot was a nice mechanics, though I found it hard to work out which weapons were good against which monsters on first play through. not sure if the levels were randomly generated or just cycled through a set of premade levels, but either way the variance was very welcome. For your first ludum dare, this is a great entry. Good job.

360 by ShellfishGames 2013-05-02T12:07:00

Considering this was completed in 12 hours, it's a pretty solid platformer. The lack of obvious boundaries is a bit irritating, but otherwise the level design is nice and the animations for levels extending/retracting was surprisingly slick. Good job.

Aduno by Justin Mullin 2013-05-02T11:55:00

Incredibly polished game, with interesting mechanics, and fitting into the theme solidly. Perfect.

Super Monster Attack by daandruff 2013-05-02T13:28:00

Great game, very polished feel and a surprising amount of depth to the relatively simple gameplay. Nice job.

Casino by AyCe 2013-05-02T12:24:00

WOO YEAH JACKPOT I- ..this isn't real? :(

Seriously though, I liked the idea. Basically a life sim boiled down to it's essential components. ...minus the mafia debt, though your mileage may vary. clicks of the reel got a bit grating after a while, but otherwise simple game, well implemented.

Drimonna by Colapsydo 2013-05-01T11:47:00

Really neat idea, fitting with the theme. Interesting mechanics and simple game play, sort of a new spin on reversi. I liked it, good job. I could see this being a fairly popular android game if it was spruced up.

...---... (sos) by badlogic 2013-04-29T18:28:00

Really enjoyed the almost augmented experience of having to figure out one half of the conversation, rather than just being a straight CYOA. Audio was appropriate and the themeing was solid, though I thought the comedy was a bit out of place after building a tense opening. Overall though, very enjoyable and impressively polished.

Plane View by Lucas Tiridath 2013-05-02T14:06:00

Very original idea, difficult but rewarding gameplay. Found myself several times saying 'jeez, I can't see a god damn thi-THERE IT IS GET IT'. Not sure the first person view helped much though. I enjoyed playing, however.

LD29 — Beneath the Surface

Skin Deep by Martin Vilcans 2014-05-01T23:24:00

I quite liked this, quite dark but fitting with the theme. Interesting puzzle that made you think about where you were going and how to stop putting yourself in a tight spot. Nice job!

Lucy by Crusable 2014-05-01T23:16:00

I really couldn't see the theme in this, sorry. The controls also weren't that friendly to a laptop user. :P But otherwise, classic Gauntlet style gameplay, was fun other than the few large bugs that have already been noted. The UI was a big hard to tell what was Lucy and what was health bar at first - or indeed, what lucy even was. Interesting concept, but I think for the pay off, 5 minutes of arguably limited gameplay such as this is too long.

You Are a Mole! by valgriz 2014-05-01T23:05:00

Hey, I liked this, though it didn't really feel like it progressed in difficulty as I went further down. I liked that when I died it felt like it was something _I_ had done wrong though, not because the game cheated me. Solid theme, cute graphics.

Intense Combat Underwater - ICU by Salamander3 2014-05-01T19:21:00

Thankyou! V2.0 is already in the works. :)

Intense Combat Underwater - ICU by Salamander3 2014-05-01T23:28:00

The speed of the subs is an issue, yes. I was juggling between camera height and sub speed (too far and everything felt too slow, too close and everything felt too fast) and think I submitted mid-tweak. Sorry about that.

Intense Combat Underwater - ICU by Salamander3 2014-05-02T00:08:00

@someone - ah, thankyou for letting me know! I'll re-export tomorrow and get a linux build re-uploaded.

Intense Combat Underwater - ICU by Salamander3 2014-05-02T08:21:00

@Beanalby - This is the exact problem of the attached camera. I completely agree with you, you have no reason to raise your periscope. The original intent was to have the position of your submarine unclear on your own screen, so you'd have to raise periscope to reveal where you are to yourself in order to be sure you're pointing in the right direction. That kind of got lost in the rush of getting this completed, and is a fundamental design flaw in this release.

Mine[ing] by MrBlade 2014-05-01T23:10:00

NOW I CAN SMITE EVERYONE FEAR ME

I mean, uh, nice game. Graphics obviously need work, but otherwise a solid concept, if a little bit 'trodden ground' in terms of the digging mechanic. Still, any game where I can blow up stuff as a method of archaeology is a good game in my books. Good effort!

Sharkness Monster by Vulpus 2014-05-01T19:30:00

JAWS SIMULATOR 2014. Had great fun with this jumping up at the kids in boats, the music was amazing. Loved it.

Stair Walker by rezzish 2014-05-01T23:27:00

With tighter design on the level progression, this could be very addictive. Really not seeing the theme in the game, but otherwise a nice concept. I enjoyed playing.

RoBroMiner by CiderPunk 2014-05-01T23:39:00

I really liked this. Refreshing puzzler, kind of a cross between digdug and chu chu rocket. Solid theme, and looked nice given that you said you didn't have much time to work on it. Polish it and sell it, I'd play it.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

PicoMachines by Salamander3 2014-12-10T12:31:00

@Team Flashlight: Yeah, that was a bug I never got round to fixing, though I know exactly why it happens. Sorry 'bout that.

Thanks guys for playing!
