I installed the MSVRedist but still get:
---------------------------
Rive Gauche.exe - System Error

The program can't start because MSVCP110.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Nice-one, glad you got the download fixed, I rather enjoyed this one. Your game has taught me 2 things - 1, I am a rubbish pickpocket, 2, I am rubbish at navigating a train network :p
Only criticism is that it wasn't made clear what things meant, everything started to look a little bit the samey to me, I also would have like my current line to be better highlighted.
"Maybe people could even get more familiar with their own cities subway networks by playing this."
Oh the irony when someone has their phone stolen, on a subway, while playing this!
Fantastic, and going against the #1 rule of platformers, input needs to be sharp is risky... but works so well, you have to adjust to using the clicks of the buttons to time things.
Unfortunately I got stuck at -356 at what I'm guessing is the same too-thin gap other people mentioned, which was a little rubbish =[
It was fun-ish, I guess the difficultly levels ruined it a little for me.
Rather amusing game, there is no bigger villain then those evil pirates, think of the poor musicians, they may only be able to afford one yacht this year!
Brutal, loved the main char, very creepy.
Agreed, build, package with the correct dlls and then upload somnewhere!
Good job, the platforming mechanics were pretty solid.
It really sucks when games don't let you play again after "finishing" and just close, this is because I don't save the game, it just downloads to some temp directory somewhere and I have to re-download to play again!
A very pretty game, although I seemed to just place poison in room 1 then watch the game until supergirl came along and held her breath, but I was still only at 72 gold so couldn't place any sharks.
Really funny, although I would have liked it if the responses were ranked as to how evil you are, and then you get a villain rating at the end to make it more of a "game"
Brilliant game, the obvious things such as lack of audio and the background/trees looking a bit placeholder, the main improvement I would like to see in this game is statistics for the levels such as time to completion, number of moves, with gold, silver, bronze medals. Maybe even some bonus collectibles, one in each level which makes it even more difficult to factor collecting that into the completion.
Other then that, this game is spot on, and I don't think the controls require any refinement.
A very nice portrait indeed, but at the cost of gameplay =[ I don't understand the following in the newgrounds description either:
"Made in a little under 72 hours for the Ludum dare 25"
If this game was made in 72 hours why is it posted in the 48 hour compo and not the jam?
I got completely stuck, found the screwdriver (I think), but couldn't click it.
Really good idea, kinda a shame though when I realized you didn't have to react to the current speech bubble and could just reel off a list of words that I know are hits from previous plays.
Pretty funny, hindered by insane control placement though and big gaps where I felt like I had nothing to do.
Loved the way the game got darker as I got deeper, a nice touch. I agree, the controls could have done with a little bit of inertia, also I was disappointed when I made it to the bottom and there was no huge bang!
Unless I missed something, that's a lot of download, for not a lot of game... how come so big?
Fun idea, but far too short.
A very, very good game, well polished and really pretty art.
Interesting idea, but yup, the balance is leaning too far to "ehhh!!"
Very nice game overall, one small criticism, I needed to see to the baby half way through playing, so I pressed escape expecting the game to pause... is didn't =[
This would have been much better with a mechanic where the eater grew and could only eat planets smaller then its head.
sfx were amusing, but the music was rather irritating. I also didn't feel too much like I was playing the game, and more like I was simply watching it.
Good solid puzzler.
The platforming mechanics, controls, gravity & jump height were spot on, unfortunately it was impossible to "win", every enemy just dropped to the bottom.
Ace graphics, 2d/3d hybrid, very nice.
Yup, game loaded, kim was up in the top corner at 0, 0 as was everything I bought, nothing else happened.
Fun, but there are definite balancing issues with the cost of placing things, tiles should be almost free!
Very fun.
Getting past that laser is impossible, a better idea would be to head the meteors to the moon and knock it out of orbit, lets see the laser deal with the moon coming toward the earth.
I agree with the above posters, fun but far too difficult, the window needs to be longer and move slightly slower.
I really liked the putting the box away to move faster.
I might be going against the crowd here... but I really had no idea what I was doing, I survived 8 assaults before committing suicide!
Well, I knew _what_ I was doing, it was more _why_ that I didn't get, I think maybe I just didn't "get it" :p
RPGs appear to have conditioned me to think that the Behemoth was attacking me! Thanks for clearing that up.
I lol'd...
Graphically nice, however I kept spending for ever to get to a village, at which point I would fly into a tree, get stuck, and get killed!
I couldn't seem to do anything...
Ace! It needed more hints and flags though!
I disagree... this game is bloody impossible! :p
A pretty little game, although on my machine it was rather frame-rate spikey which made it difficult to control.
Really well put together, slightly lacking in things to do though. Lighting and difficulty ramp was well-paced.
I cant run this game, getting the following error:
---------------------------
bullethellreversed(1).exe - System Error
---------------------------
The program can't start because DevIL.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

OK

This game is impossible to lose!
IT really could have done with a difficulty ramp-up to make it a true TD game, as it is, I had to quit, because I was never going to lose!
Really fun, best extremely frustrating, took me a while to work out what I was supposed to be doing, but then I could never get a board that I could win, there were always greenies next to the yellow bloke!
I found the controls a little too difficult, I kept getting stuck in the walls.
Perfect, the best game I've played this whole LD, just a few bugs which were a shame:
- I seemed to be able to get stuck in the vertical chainsaws causing insta-death, not sure if this was a bug or not.
- The text bubbles sorted behind the walls.
Same, I couldn't quit it. Also many things were un-catch-able!
Brilliant game, I would have like some help with what the various tools did, but that a minor complaint, I worked it out eventually.
Very fun, although I feel the black hole should have move slightly quicker so as to allow the player to easily kite the mobs.
The lack of visible win condition kinda detracted from the game.
Simply fantastic. I wouldn't change anything to expand this game, other then actually expanding it, give me level 2 where I go after Dr Ben Evelent!
This could have been a really fun game, with a few more levels / other minion types.
DAMN WASPS... they really are the ultimate villain!
Overall a very polished presentation.
Pretty good for 5 hours work^^
GJ on completing you game, I could not get past the "Humans last stand" round though it was far too difficult.
In my mind this game probably would have worked better as a continuous game rather then round based, with a whole variety of different sized objects, bigger eats you, smaller you eat, that kind of gameplay.
Yeah, I'm not sure about that start screen :s
This is frikkin epic :D
Really nice
Simply brilliant :D
I found it difficult to play, the the mouse couldn't center on the screen, I also couldn't work out what I was supposed to be doing!
I really liked this game, would have gone for some more levels, even if it was just the last level randomly generating till I died.
What did those kittens ever do to you!
What exactly is a poon?
Damn starspell, thats a bit rubs one of the problems with 48 hours I guess is a lack of being able to test on a bunch of platforms and "it works on my PC" runs rampant. I'll double check a bunch of things and see if I can root out the issue, my apologies.
Sorry as well patrick, XNA - Windows only, or at least I wouldn't have the foggyest on how to port to mac, thanks for the comment though.
415.77 isn't too bad, my best during dev was 650, the goat means your doing well :p
Starspell, I did a local test, I uninstalled the XNA redistributable from my PC and got the same issue, I then downloaded and ran the installer and it worked fine, installing this dependancy is supposed to be taken care of by the clickonce portion of the installer, I guess that failed.
arch, I could provide the .exe and resources etc however it would require that the user has the xna dependencies installed which they likely will not have, so its bit of a toss up - I don't like installers either!
I'm currently looking into SilverSprite to see if porting it to silverlight is a quick job, if so I'll try do that and get it hosted online.
Thanks Vidarn.
I just added a new download:
Windows (No Install - Requires .net 4 & XNA)
For anyone that already has the required dependancy's installed or wants to install them themselves!
I did think that starting with a wall of asteroids was maybe bad, however I also wanted to start with a bang, so that there was instantly something to do.
Of course I will, added to my play queue now.
Thanks for all the comments!
Thanks, originally the bullets were all going to black, to keep colors almost exclusively for explosions... that was a BAD idea!
Was you using the trackpad or a mouse pacifist? I actually did the whole thing on a laptop on my sofa! 48 hours at the end felt like quite a lot, I just didn't worry about pretty code or any nonsense like that, each feature was put in one at a time, whichever way it went in fastest... that and my day job usually involves the same frantic pace of programming!
Thanks all.
@awppy, this is my first LD, and in fact first game jam/comp, I've been making games for a while now though.
@lorancou, thanks and fair point, I think I weant a little overboard on the whole "Black and white" and should have used that more to my advantage by using colour to make game-play elements really jump out.
@moomoo112, yup, those missiles will help :p knowing that the best bet is to make something intuitive, or teach the player as they play I wanted to add some in-game hints to teach the game-play as you went along, the main reason I didn't, rather embarrassingly, is I couldn't work out how best to put them on the screen without them being detracting or distracting.
@maple did you put the right comment to the right game here? First bit makes sense, but unless there is a secret repair mechanic I forgot I added I;m confused :p
Same error, I think someone may need to put £1 into the NULL pointer jar? :p
I'm not entirely sure why the evil king would give directions to unlock the castle :p
This is really well done, I can see this being a good basis for a full game. Reminded me very much of the impossible game.
It didn't appear the security cameras did line of sight checks against walls which would have been nice.
Rather amusing.
Lovely! This is perfect for a touch device, get this on android or iOS!
Very very fun indeed, another that needs to be ported to a touch device!
Very fun!
Fantastic, my favorite game so far. My only gripe is the 19 years it took me to read through the instructions to understand it.
I really wanted to enjoy this as soon as I realised the mechanic, however the platforming was just a little too slidy for me, which made it very frustrating, I barely got over the first few jumps.
Definitely has potential.
Clever mechanic, but very difficult.
Your links all lead me to empty white pages.
Really smart!
Really simple and addictive, some of those levels were rather difficult, but I did beat the boss!! Nice job!
Nice idea, but far too hard.
... I think I now have a broken keyboard ...
One of the best I have played so far, I agree with the previous comments, I would have liked a fan graphic... oh and I couldn't beat the last level =[
Fun, but this needs a lot of balancing.
A good game, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the stop & rod shooty mechanic though, the basic gameplay was enough.
I really didn't get it either, it seemed when I had a move planned I was just told "Not ready yet", but I have no idea why. Also, eventually I muted the game!
Fun, but I really struggled with the controls.
Looks like we made the same game! Almost, I went with keyboard controls over mouse dragging.
Very good, although, I nearly stopped playing through the intro, and eventually couldn't get past the "R" level.
I saw some of the dev posts for this one and was really looking forward to playing it. I disagree about cutting the guitar, the game would not have been the same without it, the simple music brought it together.
My only minor issue was with the jumping, a few pixels higher, but its only something small!
Excellent, this is the new QWOP...
Solid platforming, that's one nice, satisfying jump you have there!
The lives thing was something I battles over for a while, it was in and out. Basically my dilema was that the game has no final win condition, therefore without a way to lose the player is destined to play until bored, I didn't want someone to feel bored while playing therefore I required a logical point at which to stop.
Thanks for the comments everyone, the difficulty ramp at level 4 is something I have spoken about in my post-weekend analysis. In short, there wasn't any levels, just randomly generated maps, then I threw in the first 3 levels right at the end just to get some kind of tutorial in
It was good, but I couldn't work out the rules behind AI movement, without knowing that, it felt less like a puzzle game, and more like randomly pressing buttons.
What a uniquely excellent game... level 8 in 45 moves! :p
Good simple game, although the blob did spawn in an impossible place very often.
I'm amazed, I think this is probably going to end up being one of the best, you need to get this turned into a full game. It has a massive feeling of Portal about it.
Addictive, but incredibly frustrating, I kept exciting because the buttons were moving around!
Nice little game, makes me feel sorry for those poor little fly's :p
Fantastic, I loved the audio effect. How did you do that?
Sweet little game, although some variation would have been nice, I liked it!
Good game, I found it difficult though, as I really wanted it to play like a twin-stick. I also couldn't seem to "use" health.
Fun, but really suffered from the difficulty curve, it took me a fair few attempts to get past lvl 2, then lvl 3 was a doddle.
I think you broke my keyboard... and I still didn't beat 10 seconds!
A nice simple and well executed game, only criticism is that I found it hard to tell which had been clicked, and needed some feedback when I did click on one.
I'm not sure if I'm just dosy, but I really couldn't work out what to do!
Skipping the intro was one of those "On my todo" list things when I ran out of time, I think it probably should have been elevated in priority.
A nice twist on the classic, however I didn't like that there were already bricks in place at the start of the game, that kind of ruined it (or was that a bug)
I have no idea what was going on there =]
Absolutely excellent, I would to see this developed further.
Wow, that was hard... I did complete it though, need the reaction times of an F1 driver!
A good walking simulator, it had me tense because I was expecting to be chased at some point!
I'm terrible at asteroids and no exception here! What I will say is that the controls were hard, I have 2 hands, the controls for changing shape colour should have been bound to keys the right hand can use so that you don't have to sacrifice movement to be able to change.
