Villainous! by gritfish 2012-12-17T17:48:00
I liked it, but moving felt a bit annoying because it didnt move continuously

Pretty fun, but as I mentioned in one of your posts ( that you later deleted? ), you shouldn't update the game after submission and if you do, at least keep a link to the original version of the game
@Kuothe No problem and congrats for your first LD :) ! But I hope that you understand that it's somewhat unfair for others if someone can continue developing their game after deadline, even if they started a bit later than others.
This was awesome :) ! Really nice graphics and gameplay
@Joeslayer97
Yeah sorry, like I said, I was in quite a hurry to even make any gameplay at all :(
@myachin
Yeah sorry, I forgot to mention that this is using XNA4.0 HiDef Profile, which ( I think ) requires DX10 graphics card. I can't use Reach Profile which works on lower-end GPUs because the map texture is 4096x2800 and Reach profile doesn't support textures over 2048x2048
@CMaster
Hah, yeah I used a map that was on the modern time and I didn't actually realize that USSR and Russia's borders differs ( but now that I think of it, obviously they differ. Lots of eastern european countries were part of USSR before) :)
I originally planned that other countries can attack you back and make alliances ( and even possibly attack other countries to conquer them? ), but unfortunately I didn't have time to implement it. Maybe later if I decide to continue developing this :) October challange next year, I dont know :)
@Deykoweec
If the game had been what I wanted it to be originally, it'd been more fun with all countries. But yah, as the game stands currently it's really not very fun :(
I absolutely loved the sound effects and music :) ! Pretty fun game overall too, but it could've had time limit or some other goal/"ending".
I liked it, but as already mentioned before, controls were a bit difficult/uniniutive
Pretty fun, but the instructions could've been better. I waas somewhat confused at the start. Also not having to restart the whole application to restart the level would've been nice :)
I liked it. For some reason though, in the first level when I lost all my health the level didnt restart and I could continue playing it. In the second level I did die though.
I liked it a lot. Controls were a bit hard though
Kind of easy but still pretty solid
This was pretty fun and music was awesome! However, sound effects were kinda annyoing ( but at least there were some! ) and the gameplay was kind of slow. Art style was great too.
Wow, this is probably the best I have played on this LD so far! Great job!
Great game but way too hard :(
Thanks to all of you for your kind words :) !
@egos
Hmm.. Are you sure you have XNA4.0 installed? Also your computer must have good enough GPU to support it, but since I used XNA's "Reach" Mode, pretty much every GPU in the past 8 years should support it :)
@metadept
Yeah, I'm kinda planning to port this to Windows Phone (and obviously add more sectors /variety etc.) and I'll definitely tweak the jumping. Maybe also make the collision a little bit forgiving, like if you just barely touch the right side of the block, it doesn't kill you.
Anyways, my previous games: The first one was a platformer. I had a sort of unique idea for it but I scrapped it before I implemented it. Collision and moving was working already though when I scrapped it.
Then I started making a roguelike game. Got dungeon generation kinda working, had enemies, had stats, had moving (didn't have attacking or items though). Here's a screenshot of it: http://i.imgur.com/RlAT2Eu.png
The third one was this puzzley game where you had to connect all the dots with the same color to each other without the lines between them intersecting with any other line. I thought that it was good idea at first but didn't come up with even a single decent level :( I had a level editor for this too :P Screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/ZAce8Wx.jpg
@Joror
Hmm, holding space should make you jump longer, though the effect is not very strong. Most likely you just didn't notice it :P
Really great game :)
Wow, this is my favourite one so far :) Great job, everything was awesome in it!
Really liked it :)
As others have mentioned, awesome graphics but didn't have a clue what was going on :P
Pretty hard but still good :)
I really liked it! Good job!
Great graphics and pretty good sounds too :) The gameplay itself was fun for a while but then just got repetitive, especially since you only had to smash the kick/punch button. But still, it was a great game and the mood was awesome :) Good job!
Idea is pretty fun but I thought that execution wasn't as good as it could've been. It's okay nonetheless
Great looking but as awesome as potatoes are, it gets boring pretty fast just planting new potatoes :P
Pretty good :) I liked it
Great game :) ! Really like the mood and the graphics!
Really really great idea and gameplay!
Actually to continue that last post: I actually was planning to make a "time-rewind" mechanic (cough.. braid.. cough...) so that you could do something like make a suicide to get a key and the rewind the game back until you were safe again. But I decided to drop that, didn't have nearly enough time.. Made the whole map in the last 2 hours also :( ...
It was okay, a bit boring and easy though. The character graphics were cute though :) If you smoothed the camera's movement a bit (so that the camera would be a bit "late"), it could "feel" a bit better.
Great mood! I'm not sure either where the "10 seconds" is in this though :| The graphics were a bit rough too but still pretty good. Great job :)
It was pretty fun at first, but got a bit boring quickly. Pretty okay.
Super easy and short, but graphics were really good :) Also it'd be great if it wasn't full screen but a window.
It was a bit boring since you couldn't control the robot in the arena :(
Really really great execution! One of the best games I've played so far in this LD!
Great game! Awesome graphics and music :) !
The best game I've played so far. Absolutely amazing :)
Really good game :)
Really good graphics and music! And a good game too :) Great job :) !
:O
This was amazing! Really really good :)
Great visuals and sounds :) ! Gameplay not that great though.
Pretty cool game :) But pretty hard though and controls seemed a bit.. "floaty". Not necessarely bad thing though :P
@Exeneva
Oh no, you should't be able to jump in the air :) !
About the theme: I was initially planning to make the enemies to come from the ground, but I didn't have time to implement it :(
@Jared & cirolve
Thanks!
@IAmSpencer
Thanks a lot! And like I said above, the "nice touch" is a bug! But maybe it's a good bug :)
