LD24 — Evolution

Shit! It's evolving by fruitfly 2012-08-27T20:07:00

Had to use the "no audio" version; other one didn't start.

Gravallax by Entity2D 2012-08-27T13:35:00

A nice challenge - got past a number of enemies and then died of a big one that fired too frequently for me to handle. A skill game, just like mine. 8)

Technolution by Ninja 2012-08-27T14:15:00

That was fun but hard! I couldn't get to the space part with a few tries.

Darwin's Little Pink Worm by wumpus 2012-08-27T18:34:00

I actually managed to win on the first try. Felt horrible killing the other last ones alive. 8)

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T10:15:00

Apparently the Windows version fails to work on some computers - if it doesn't work for you, leaveing a note here with some general system info would be of great help.

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T12:51:00

Hell, for some reason half of my description and all the links keep disappearing from this site... does anyone know what is going on? I'm re-adding them again...

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T12:53:00

Krise20: It does not require python; it is a cx_Freeze build - it is referring to the original file names of data it copied to the package from the original system. Anyway, win7 x64 - that is useful info.

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T13:37:00

madpew: It is not a trivial fix; the error happens in a built-in file of python or pygame - I can't do anything about it other than use a different python-to-exe utility. I'll try py2exe instead of cx_Freeze once I get home.

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T14:00:00

I have thus far a few reports of it working on Win7 x64, so don't hesitate to try despite of it not working for some people. :-)

My high score is 5778. Anyone beat that? 8)

Genvaders by celeron55 2012-08-27T17:42:00

py2exe-generated package added - which hopefully works on the remaining computers.

badlydrawnrod: You may have stumbled upon the small amount of genes and variable properties - the aliens only have a couple of major killer combinations to evolve into.

Basically the genes of the aliens that managed to hit the player are mixed with the genes of aliens that were not immediately killed, plus some mutation. Of a new bunch, 2/3 of aliens are those inherited ones, and 1/3 in a bunch are randomly generated. The first bunch contains easy aliens in place of the ones that would be inherited.

A bit ago I managed to get 16660 points by continuously avoiding all hits and always killing the nastiest aliens first - it will give you very easy time for long - until you get hit by a very nasty random one - then the hell begins and you are basically doomed. Theoretically you could play infinitely with aliens like the ones in the first group.

Planetary Overseer by Milo 2012-08-27T18:18:00

It took a short while for me to figure out how the game works: The player is given actions to do like blocks in a tetris, and you just use them at that order by simply clicking around.

Good and fun 48 hour implementation of an interesting idea. Played a few tries and had 36 mutations when I messed up the last one.

"Natural" Selection by r4m0n 2012-08-27T14:43:00

The feel isn't spot-on, and the idea behind the game isn't very visible. However, this is quite a solid game. Fits the theme very well.

It's kind of a sibling of my entry.

LD25 — You are the Villain

Goblin Fortress by AtkinsSJ 2012-12-17T13:11:00

A good start for a strategy game. Any plans to make a more complete version, some day?

BOTWALK by namuol 2012-12-17T08:53:00

This is an awesome little creation. Becomes boring quite fast though; extremely fun for a while. 140513.

ETGA! by Graf_Grun 2012-12-17T07:15:00

On this computer, F-Secure thinks this is "potentially harmful". It does run when you allow it to, though.

My game happens to be a variation of quite the same theme - I just didn't even bother to put in a score system but rather focused on the feel of driving. 8)

A Peril of Pauline's by Red Mike 2012-12-17T07:20:00

Does not seem to work (W7/64) - the taskbar icon comes up, but nothing else happens, no window is seen and it has to be killed in task manager.

Demons in Dungeons by blay09 2012-12-17T08:41:00

This is way too hard, I can't finish any level.

Not too bad otherwise...

Drive-over by celeron55 2012-12-17T12:42:00

@SamoojaMies: I intended to add blood that would eventually obstruct your view very badly, but was too lazy to get to do that. 8) Sorry!

Red Revenge by Skyshifter 2012-12-17T09:25:00

It seems quite unclear what the goal is and what you are able to do in addition to flying around and shooting with two things. The music isn't bad.

STOP Hero Quest by halemaster 2012-12-17T08:07:00

There could be a better indication of a new special place spawning, because seeing them is quite important. Also, a scoring system would work well.

A well-working implementation of a very good idea.

THE CONDEMNED by Dark Acre Jack 2012-12-17T07:37:00

The controls are very bad... when you press a key a bit, it moves a bit somehow reasonably, but then it jumps way too much and you end up looking at a completely different direction than you wanted, and then it doesn't let you immediately turn back.

Neutral Balance by koller-digital 2012-12-17T07:23:00

@ddionisio: Same thing for me.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Capture the Massively Multiplayer Online Flag! A Real Time Turn Based game that happens in increments of 10 seconds. by dcolgan 2013-08-26T07:47:00

It seems to work, but as nobody else is on the server, playing is kind of not possible.

Memory Groove by voltorben 2013-08-26T07:14:00

Doesn't seem to work. Stops at this screen; no output in console; Chromium 25 / Linux x86: http://anonmgur.com/up/ce7e842cbe688bfda312072e40de781b.png

10 Second Roguelike by BadgerPriest 2013-08-26T08:21:00

Movement is nasty with having to choose whether to tap fast or wait for the initial key repeat delay.

However, this is a cool idea, the graphics are surprisingly nice, the audio fits well and overally it feels like you really have to run for your life. It kind of feels like Quake or something.

With the movement fixed and some higher level strategy added, this could be really addicting.

Snowman's Quest by dekart 2014-12-08T17:10:00

Result after 10 carrots: 63 lumberjacks, 454 snowballs. Kept me busy, but wasn't very interesting.

Luckily snowmen can run indefinitely and are much faster than lumberjacks.

discrepancy by reheated 2014-12-08T15:23:00

Good job; this shines on all aspects, really.

Except for the theme! This is pretty much the standard interpretation of it. But you don't have to worry about that. 8)

It's weird how these shapes end up so elegant no matter how the dots are arranged.

Territorial by zed0 2014-12-08T15:31:00

Server appears to be down.
