Shit! It's evolving by fruitfly 2012-08-27T20:07:00
Had to use the "no audio" version; other one didn't start.

That was fun but hard! I couldn't get to the space part with a few tries.
I actually managed to win on the first try. Felt horrible killing the other last ones alive. 8)
badlydrawnrod: You may have stumbled upon the small amount of genes and variable properties - the aliens only have a couple of major killer combinations to evolve into.
Basically the genes of the aliens that managed to hit the player are mixed with the genes of aliens that were not immediately killed, plus some mutation. Of a new bunch, 2/3 of aliens are those inherited ones, and 1/3 in a bunch are randomly generated. The first bunch contains easy aliens in place of the ones that would be inherited.
A bit ago I managed to get 16660 points by continuously avoiding all hits and always killing the nastiest aliens first - it will give you very easy time for long - until you get hit by a very nasty random one - then the hell begins and you are basically doomed. Theoretically you could play infinitely with aliens like the ones in the first group.
It took a short while for me to figure out how the game works: The player is given actions to do like blocks in a tetris, and you just use them at that order by simply clicking around.
Good and fun 48 hour implementation of an interesting idea. Played a few tries and had 36 mutations when I messed up the last one.
The feel isn't spot-on, and the idea behind the game isn't very visible. However, this is quite a solid game. Fits the theme very well.
It's kind of a sibling of my entry.
A good start for a strategy game. Any plans to make a more complete version, some day?
On this computer, F-Secure thinks this is "potentially harmful". It does run when you allow it to, though.
My game happens to be a variation of quite the same theme - I just didn't even bother to put in a score system but rather focused on the feel of driving. 8)
Does not seem to work (W7/64) - the taskbar icon comes up, but nothing else happens, no window is seen and it has to be killed in task manager.
This is way too hard, I can't finish any level.
Not too bad otherwise...
@SamoojaMies: I intended to add blood that would eventually obstruct your view very badly, but was too lazy to get to do that. 8) Sorry!
It seems quite unclear what the goal is and what you are able to do in addition to flying around and shooting with two things. The music isn't bad.
There could be a better indication of a new special place spawning, because seeing them is quite important. Also, a scoring system would work well.
A well-working implementation of a very good idea.
The controls are very bad... when you press a key a bit, it moves a bit somehow reasonably, but then it jumps way too much and you end up looking at a completely different direction than you wanted, and then it doesn't let you immediately turn back.
@ddionisio: Same thing for me.
It seems to work, but as nobody else is on the server, playing is kind of not possible.
Doesn't seem to work. Stops at this screen; no output in console; Chromium 25 / Linux x86: http://anonmgur.com/up/ce7e842cbe688bfda312072e40de781b.png
Movement is nasty with having to choose whether to tap fast or wait for the initial key repeat delay.
However, this is a cool idea, the graphics are surprisingly nice, the audio fits well and overally it feels like you really have to run for your life. It kind of feels like Quake or something.
With the movement fixed and some higher level strategy added, this could be really addicting.
Result after 10 carrots: 63 lumberjacks, 454 snowballs. Kept me busy, but wasn't very interesting.
Luckily snowmen can run indefinitely and are much faster than lumberjacks.
Good job; this shines on all aspects, really.
Except for the theme! This is pretty much the standard interpretation of it. But you don't have to worry about that. 8)
It's weird how these shapes end up so elegant no matter how the dots are arranged.
Server appears to be down.
