...What? Just... What? :P
It runs insanely fast and I have no idea what's going on.
Good game! Managed to win in 22:28, which is probably a terrible score.
I never did figure out what the pants were for though.
munchor: It's not made clear, but goblins go to the campfire (Looks like a ring of rocks, notably lacking any fire) to eat. If there's no food, they just wait there. I'm guessing that's what happened.
The interface feels nice - having to spin the Earth around so as to try not to miss things adds a nice sense of panic. :)
However, it is a bit light on choices. Basically, click 'Take action' for everything if you have enough logistics points, otherwise panic. Not sure what to add to it though.
Also, I saw that there are other building options (the mason training camp) so perhaps there is some depth but it's hidden behind the random number generator, and the difficulty. :)
I could only play two days. I realised that the player character was going to make Anne's life miserable, and I couldn't be responsible for doing so... which is interesting, I think. Well done!
Love the concept. However, I did have a couple of issues:
- The avoidance section often got me in an impossible situation, maybe this could be solved by spawning the ships in a grid with a navigable path?
- The boss battle got ridiculously hard because the game was lagging so much.
- Not being able to move diagonally was also a bit awkward.
But yeah, I'd like to see this fleshed-out into a full game! Possibly with a less gimmicky boss battle. :P
I absolutely love the music. :D
I'm glad I played it twice - the first time the game didn't end after beating the enemies. :/ It's a pity it's not more complete.
I like the idea, but the game itself isn't so great, unfortunately.
This could have been cool if the different weapons actually had any effect. As far as I could tell, they're the same - also, when it said I unlocked something, I actually unlocked the next one?
Like others have said, it unfortunately just became "Go to ground, hold fire button".
I love the effort put into this - the whole intro sequence, and the banter. However, it did get a little slow by the end, waiting between questions. Some audio might have helped. (eg, drum rolls)
Unfortunately, it runs but no window actually appears. :( Using Windows 7, 32-bit.
Well done for your first Ludum Dare! I'm impressed that you got some sound effects and music in, for your first time. :)
Occasionally it was difficult to tell if the tiles were one step from white - perhaps there could be some kind of indication? Otherwise, I really like this - especially that it's simple enough that you didn't need instructions, and yet very difficult.
I am the Dark Knight. :D
I absolutely love this. :D The only problem I'm having is some slightly glitchy physics. I really want to see this made into a full game. :D
Very cool idea - being able to go first-person is especially nice. :) I'd like to see how it can be extended.
Bizarre, and I love it!
/me goes off to commit crimes.
I loved the atmosphere, and the moments that made me jump. Perhaps it's more of a ride than a game, but it's a very polished ride. :)
I like the idea a lot. :D However, it's so hard! I managed the first level, but while I could figure out what to do in the others, managing it was difficult. Still, I'd like to see what you could do with this idea given more time. :)
Thatnks, UltimateWalrus and arrogant.gamer. I'm glad you like the mechanic. :D
I was disappointed with the puzzles myself. I found them really difficult to come-up with, and only had about half an hour in which to do so. It was going to have a level editor so you could share new puzzles, but I wasted time on some code I didn't need and didn't get that done. So, overall, I managed my time poorly.
Nice! I didn't expect to get so drawn in. :D
If I would change one thing though, it'd be to add some kind of animation or something when you get hurt - I kept not noticing!
Discovering what the elements do, and playing with them was fun, it just needs some form of goal. I can see it working as a puzzle platformer, where you have a limited number of elements to solve things.
It could do with some way of switching directly to a specific outfit, such as using the number keys. I kept pressing space when I wanted to jump, and having to cycle through them all again!
Nice mechanic! Took me a while to figure-out that 'test?' was a button, and I didn't understand why I had to wait for a man to move across the screen after I completed a level. Still, the music was catchy! :)
:D This is completely crazy. Two thumbs up for it even working!
Simple, but fun! The piano music that you create while playing is very nice, too. :)
I'm in awe. :D The concept is great, and everything is so polished that it could be a multi-month game. Nice one!
Hmmm. I liked the presentation, but I think having it be competitive conflicts with the randomness of how well you do. :) Not sure how that could be adjusted though.
Anyway, nicely done!
It's very pretty, and the way you have to destroy the asteroid cores is cool, but it really needs some kind of goal and difficulty.
I liked the comedy personally. After all the tension of the first couple of playthroughs, the surprise twist was a nice relief!
I didn't manage to save anyone in half a dozen playthroughs, so I'm ending there. Even with the skipping, there's a lot of repetition. Still, one of the better games I've played this time around! The atmosphere is perfect. :D
I really like the card mechanic! Having to choose which good things to do was fun.
I did have it freeze a few times as I was playing, though - I think it happened whenever a room was built? Not sure.
I like it! The graphics were a little dark, so it was hard to see sometimes that there were blocks that hadn't quite been destroyed. I like the laser mechanic, and the different ways you used it in puzzles, though the level with dozens of portals was more confusing than difficult.
Overall, it's very polished and complete feeling for a 48-hour game. :)
It's an interesting idea, but as others have said, if you have one drill the game is slow and quite easy, but with more than one it's chaos.
Certainly a good game for a first LD, though! :)
Very clever! A nice idea, and your levels take good advantage of it. My only issue with it is that I didn't get very far because I kept dying! :P
Bizarre, but I liked it! Made me laugh. :D
I'm using Windows XP. I extracted all the files, and I can run the launcher, though the images are half-hidden. But when I click the orange button, it crashes with this error:
Unhandled Exception: System.BadImageFormatException: Could not load file or assembly 'sfmlnet-graphics-2, Version=2.1.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.

Interesting idea, and the graphics are nice, but a little too luck based for me. Not sure what you could really do to change that though!
I think my computer is a bit too slow for it - there were hardly any balls on screen, and they jiggled around a lot. I'll have to give it another go when I'm not stuck with my laptop. :)
Nice! Might be nice to see some more complexity - maybe some jellyfish won't hug others - but what's there is nice. :D
I played on a 10-inch tablet, so I didn't have problems with them being troo close together.
Awesome! I'm absolutely terrible at it, but then it's probably not intended to be played on a trackpad! ;)
I'm using Windows XP, and the game just crashes when I try to run it. I'd guess there might be a dll missing.
Brilliant! It's weird and nonsensical and I died tons of times, but I had a big grin on my face the entire time. :D
Very much in need of some instructions! It's cool though, made me laugh. :)
Thanks for your comments everyone! :)
The UI is a bit messy, I know. I got a bit frustrated trying to fix thing, but hopefully Unity's new GUI system will be easier.
I didn't want the game to be too hard, but yeah, the way it is now is too easy, being able to set routes going forever and always making money. I just ran out of time (and energy) before I could make it more realistic.
I *would* like to make a post-compo version some time. Just have to finish some other things first. ;)
There's a good start here. I can see it being really cool with more traits for the monsters, so you build-up a collection of them, and different worlds to explore.
Cool idea! I'm not that sure which thing makes which sound, but it was cool exploring the other worlds, and they did all sound different. One suggestion I'd make is to make the random-planet-choosing pay attention to the worlds you've already visited and make them less likely - I visited the planet Banana 3 times in a row!
Neat! I enjoyed playing against the AI, even if it was tricky to click exactly on some of the smaller planets. It looks really pretty with the little particle trails, and the music is nice and calming.
I really like the art and audio for this, it feels really cosy. The game mechanic is cool, even if it is yet another match-3 game. ;) Took me a while to realise I could place blocks as well as flipping them, and it would be nice if it detected when you win. But overall, pretty cool! :)
Great game! I love the details you put in, when I zapped the little aliens. ("accidentally" <_<)
I made it to level 15, then got stuck, and wasn't really sure what I was doing wrong. Still, for an LD game, there's a lot of levels. And the music is amazing! :D
I struggled a lot with the keyboard controls, but I enjoyed it once I started using a touch-screen. Satisfying to finally beat all the planets! :D
Clever idea of mixing the planets and the platforming. :)
How do you always make such polished games in jams!? I continue to be very impressed. Can't stop playing it now. My best score is 23, which was probably a fluke. :D
How do you always make such polished games in jams!? I continue to be very impressed. Can't stop playing it now. Right now, I'm in 1st place, which must be some kind of fluke. :P
Graphics are lovely. :) I couldn't manage to get past the level with the fireballs(?) but I was enjoying it up until then.
Seems like there are some cool ideas, but I couldn't get through the tutorial. I eventually figured-out that I could drag the ladder with the mouse, but I kept failing jumps over and over again until I gave up. Sorry. :(
Controlling with a console made me feel like a hacker, so that was cool. I just didn't understand what I was doing.
Took a while to get used to it, but then it was pretty fun. :) My best score is 12121.
I met the Schema, but got no further. I quite like the poeticalness of it all, but there's quite a lot of guessing involved.
For a while, noting made sense, and then it all clicked and I figured it out. :D Cool game!
It looks nice, but I just couldn't figure-out which things I was supposed to shoot (everything maybe?) or how the tractor beam worked. The gamepad controls worked pretty well actually. :)
Cool idea for a puzzle game, and it looks nice too. :) Sounds were a little sharp, but overall, I really like it. Not sure I really understood how to stick to a budget though, can't figure out the last level. :)
Really cool idea! It got a bit confusing when I had too many wormholes, as I couldn't tell which direction they went, but I'd like to see this game developed further. :)
Thank you everyone for your kind words and ratings. This is the best-scoring LD game I've ever made. :D
The art style is lovely. :D
This is so cool! It feels really polished, which is impressive for the time limit. I got completely stuck on the level where the crate keeps appearing and disappearing in the bottom section, but until then, really good! :)
Very impressive! I don't know how you managed something so clever and so polished, with random level generation as well. :D Easily beats the quality of a lot of games I see for phones.
Cool idea, but I struggled to figure-out what I was doing.
There's a lot more depth to this than I was expecting. I agree that it's worth expanding, the basic mechanic is quite clever. :)
I liked the variety between levels, and the music was great! :D
It's a simple game, but it kept me playing, trying to beat my time. Great soundtrack too!
After several goes I managed to last 102:54. :D
Cool game. :) The music and the little clock made it really tense!
Cool idea, and it looks and sounds great. I found it a bit hard to control though, especially when I had to do things quickly - I had to skip past a couple of levels.
This was fun! I managed 151 points once, though I've not been able to beat that. I love the music. :)
Fun little shooter. :) I like your use of the theme.
Really cool game with graphics and audio that suit it really well. Nice one! :D
I'm sorry about the problems with the controls. I jury-rigged my own keyboard and mouse code and while it behaved for me while developing it, it's not behaving now. Also, it's waaaay louder than I expected.
Thanks for attempting to play it, anyway. :)
Cool little game. :) Interesting idea, and nicely presented. I am apparently awful at it, with a score of 81 minutes.
Really clever! Fun game, and a nice use of the theme.
Amazing. This has given me new appreciation for the craftiness of the ancient Greeks.
Thanks everyone! :D I'm really glad people are enjoying my silly little game.
The text is indeed hard to read in places. I had adjusted some things to make it easier, but that was *before* I drew the top-right image at the last minute. Sorry about that.
The humans being equal to 4 monsters is dull, but I didn't at the time think of any way to make them different without making one obviously superior to the other. Maybe monster workers should cause more outrage. Originally workers were going to have randomised statistics, but that got cut.
Amazing. Just amazing. My winning strategy is to fall in the lava because jump didn't work, and then respawn at the finish line. ;)
It's a good start! It was fun to run around with a huge crowd of 50 wolves. I did find it easy to get lost though, with the first map I played being mostly empty> The wolves had a tendency to get stuck behind buildings. The audio really works well, though!
Not bad for an unfamiliar tool! That's usually a recipe for disaster. There's not much to it, but it's pretty fun nonetheless.
Surprisingly tricky to hit those pesky humans, especially with debris getting in the way. If shrapnel could also kill them it might make blowing the rocks up more useful.
My own shadow made me laugh - looks like I'm some kind of giant, angry, rock-spitting moose? :D
Took me a long time to discover that you can double-jump. I probably hadn't drunk enough tea.
It looks and sounds lovely, but I found the platforming a bit frustrating. I didn't feel that in-control of where I was going, and jumping onto small things that seem slippery meant I kept falling off. I couldn't figure-out how to get the gold on the flag, and kept falling into the castle and getting stuck. There seems to be a bug that stops you jumping when you stand next to a block, which didn't help.
But, with that fixed, and the controls tightened0-up a bit, it could be great! Atmosphere and aesthetic are perfect.
It crashed after the intro text. It created a log file that I've pasted to http://pastebin.com/S86FZcgW
It is pretty clear you ran out of time. The menu is really stylish, and I like that you added jumps to the race track to make things more interesting. Just could have done with more time. :)
Feel really polished! Would have liked more abilities, but it looks and sounds great, and it's pretty fun too. :) It's a solid idea, and I can see it being really good if you developed it further.
Cool idea! And the art, especially the cat, is really nice. Unfortunately it's a bit unclear what you can knock-off, and sometimes the controls didn't respond.
It crashed for me a couple of times, but I couldn't take a screenshot of the error because my screen is only 1680x1050. :(
I like the oppressive, threatening atmosphere you've made with the music and art! Unfortunately, I am terrible at platform games and didn't manage to make it past the first level. A real shame about the missing animation.
I like that it's an endless runner with more than just a jump button, made things more interesting. Not sure if it was randomness or intentional, but at around 50 points the villagers went from being in big clumps to spreading out more, which made the jumps more fun and challenging. Art's simple, but I like the style of it.
Sound and music are really good! Looks nice too. :) I think it would have been nice to have lots of girls running around at once rather than just the one. Well done!
I knew it was going to be good from the gifs you'd shared, but the audio is absolutely perfect! I can see this winning already. :D
I am a terrible driver. Ran over half a dozen kids before realising I wasn't collecting them! XD
Fun to drive around in, and I was definitely not expecting that ending!
Thank you everyone who played and rated, and especially if you've left a comment. Considering this isn't really a 'game' as such, it's done better than I had hoped. :)
I would like to polish this up and develop it further, but I tend to say that about every jam game, so maybe I will, maybe I won't. ;)
Solifuge, I had hoped to have creatures involved, I just ran out of time - I have quite a list of things that didn't get added! The idea of plants terraforming is really good though, I'll write that one down. I chose to go for a sandbox rather than progression, but that could certainly work.
SUPER HARD! D:
I think the fact that the controls are so simple managed to make it less frustrating. I made it to the level with the two cannons, and usually I would have given up way before then. You've got an impressive number of levels and obstacles for a 5-hour game!
Couldn't get it to work. With the Bash script, it runs and I hear the music, but the game window is just solid grey.
The music's good at least! :)
I like the idea, but it's a bit confusing in its current state. I'm not entirely sure what the red bar in the corner is, and a couple of times it changed which level I was on but I'm not sure if I'd won or lost.
The atmosphere really worked though - it felt sinister. The controls are difficult, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as they made things more challenging. A good effort!
I like it! It's a little rough, but I still had fun playing it. One suggestion I'd make is to slow down the animation on the mushrooms - they animate so quickly that they're a bit blurry. I think the idea of multiple tiers of table is great as it lets you recover from mistakes. Good job!
For people who are confused: From what I understand, you are a plant. The green bar is your health. To be healthy you need both water (grow into blue water tiles) and sunlight (grow up to the surface). The bigger you are, the more water and sunlight you need. Your goal is to reach a seed hidden in the level, so you need to grow to explore while also making sure you have enough water and sun.
--------------------
Interesting. I managed to figure out how it works to make it to level 2, and found the seed there but the game stopped responding to my input when I was only two tiles away. :(
One issue is the controls are a little too sensitive when you're trying to retrace your steps - at least, they are if your plant is as wobbly as mine. Fiddliness is not ideal when your plant is dying.
I absolutely love how this looks! :D It's a simple game, but well done.
Looks great, could be fun, but after a couple of attempts I don't know how to play.
You say it's your first time, and my first attempts at LD were awful and unfinished. It's easy to run out of time before you get used to it. I look forward to seeing what you make next time. :)
Impressively complete for a first LD! There's not a lot to it, but what's there still had me playing for a while. It could do with some polish, and more of a challenge, but it's not a bad attempt. :)
Derp, I forgot to set the game as public. It should work now!
