LD18 — Enemies as Weapons

MARBULL by rik 2010-08-23T16:30:00

Totally freaking awesome. The main character is so likeable and well animated - she has tons of personality. The music is so exciting it really pumped me up. Suggestions to improve this already great game would be: sounds when you get hit/eat a powerup. Finally, I may have encountered a bug, my second time playing, once my health got to zero I couldn't die. I could just stand there and get hit infinite times without anything happening so I could play forever. It happened when I was near the left edge of the screen, I may have eaten a powerup and gotten hit at the same time or something weird - some "race condition" undoubtedly. In any case, this is just great and I'd love to see a polished game with this character and concept fully fleshed out. Keep up the wonderful work!

Crustacean Cannon by Hellfang 2010-08-23T15:12:00

Great work! I like the sounds, I really like the smooth rotation of your cannon, but I wish there were more enemies on screen since if you miss you have to reset which is a downer. I liked it! Keep up the fantastic work!

The Adventures of Rubberman! by CataclysmicKnight 2010-08-24T09:15:00

This is great! I love the characters: so colourful and cute. It really needed some sound: imaging if you recorded gobbledygook insult words into a microphone (shmugging flashbum flibbersnaggit) it would be funny without resorting to real swear words. About one in every 25 insults do not collide with my blocker... generally for leftward moving sprites. But apart from this minor bug it was a great effrot. Well done.

Grandfather glasses by skalle 2010-08-23T15:17:00

Overall, great work. Pretty difficult to figure out without the hints: I thought I had to catch a bunny first off and figured I just sucked and almost gave up. I would have loved to see some animation (eg the main character), an intro (explaining what you need to do) and sounds. Keep up the good work. =)

Lich by Serilyn 2010-08-24T09:03:00

Fantastic graphics. I really like the shadows, textures, and models.

Takeover by Almost 2010-08-23T16:19:00

Nice graphics. I like the glows, and it plays nice and smooth. All it needs is to be finished (eg death) but overall a great effort with good style. Keep up the good work! =)

Enemy of the Solid State by bentosmile 2010-08-23T19:23:00

I love the art! The background painting is superb, I love how it is black and white and has such nice perspective. You are too hard on yourself, it looks really great.

Attack of the Jartos by Vieko Franetovic 2010-08-24T08:41:00

Awesome work! I really like the purple colour scheme, the music, and I especially like the rain effect. All it needs is *more*: scores, lives, a few extra modes and enemy types would be a lot of fun. I kept accidentally pausing the game when I clicked one or two pixels off the rightmost edge where the flying enemies appear: it would be a good idea to add a small border so you are still clicking on the flash (or simply don't let it pause when it loses focus). You did a fantastic job! Keep up the great work.

Revenge of the Living Dead by Rafael CP 2010-08-23T19:28:00

Great work. The JAM version is waaaay better, the radar arrows are essential. This could be made into a compelling RTS with a bit more detail. Especially if the zombies could have faster movement.

Infiltrator by ChainedLupine 2010-08-23T15:39:00

Absolutely phenomenal. The most fun of any game I've tried so far. This is a "real" game and with some more polish you could sell it. I love the strategy, the sight "cones" and the super stylin coolness of this. Keep up the fantastic work: you hit it outta the park and I am blown away. My highest rating so far: it actually was fun.

Dude, that's my bullet by ruben01 2010-08-24T08:59:00

Looks great: I especially like the health bars over each enemy. Unfortunately I couldn't get it to run (webstart). The other 10 or so webstart java games I've tested worked just fine but for this one I got an error message: the exception tab described a need for some cache setting.

Robot Time by tylo 2010-08-24T09:10:00

Love the artwork.

Evade ? by pansapiens 2010-08-23T16:53:00

Look very cool but for some reason no matter what I press on the keyboard the "Press A to start" keeps flashing. For some reason my keyboard events are not registering. Yes, I clicked the game to give it focus, yes I tried capslock.. to no avail. All I get is "press A to start". In any case, very smooth graphics and great use of a next-gen engine.

Evade ? by pansapiens 2010-08-23T16:55:00

Wow I am a complete idiot. You have to press Z, not A. Ouch I feel very silly, I literally thought I typed almost every other key - all the asdfghjkl and space and enter, etc. Yikes I feel foolish. It works just fine if you press [Z]. =P

Fromulus by brandoncash 2010-08-23T19:44:00

Wonderful pixel art! You are a really good artist and a great animator. The death animations are priceless, and have lots of humour. Well done!

Robot infiltrate by enzo 2010-08-23T15:45:00

Keep up the good work! All it needs is an intro to explain what to do and some sound.

Robot infiltrate by enzo 2010-08-23T15:46:00

By the way, the link says "Windows" but it in fact links to a "Web" flash game. You just need to edit your entry and retype the link description.

PuzzaBOMB by McFunkypants 2010-08-23T14:34:00

Adobe is still updating it, but only compatibility fixes (eg 64 bit, new Mac OSX compats). It is definitely dead, but it is also mega powerful. A true hidden gem. Why? It has Flash inside it. Meaning I can do anthting that flash can do (eg flex) and also stream a flash flv video onto a 3d texture, play mp3s, open pdfs, use physx, print, make fullscreen exes and mac apps, read and write binary files, download and stream stuff, all with pure javascript.

I'm like the only person left who uses it, but it it more powerful than any other tool ever made. That's why it died: too bloated, it can "do everything".

It is an absolute joy to work with: I can code in a text editor of my choice (notepad++) - no IDE to bother with, which suits me well. I don't need to recompile when I change sources - I just hit refresh in my browser and tada. It is pure goodness, with a great debugger, the ability to import like every possible file format you've ever heard of, (from quicktime to wav to excel to aci to 3ds to sketchup) and you can add your own dlls written in c++ if you want to. It can literally do anything.

Director 11.5's productivity is insanely wonderful. If I could, I would donate money to keep it alive: but Adobe is definitely killing it off. =)

Anyway, sorry about the fan-boy-ism. Director is, to me, an old friend. I'm the last guy using it and this is likely the last app I'll ever write in it.

Unity, here I come. =(

PuzzaBOMB by McFunkypants 2010-08-24T09:09:00

Thank you for the kind words, guys!

I'm thinking of adding further polish over the next couple months to make a "Bomberman + Marble Madness" game out of this.

What do you think? Worth doing?

PuzzaBOMB by McFunkypants 2010-09-07T10:44:00

Wow thanks for the valuable comments, guys, I'm grateful!

Ennameez by Martoon 2010-08-23T15:29:00

Well done! You were very original and brilliant in your mix-n-match powerup concept. I didn't like the graphics or the political/religious iconography: the humour fell flat and I would have preferred it to be mixing fire and water, oil and vinegar, light and dark mana, etc. But great execution and original idea. Good work!

EnemiesOfTheLetterB by milsom 2010-08-23T16:09:00

Great graphics, nice sound, good ideas. The movement could use a little more polish. Keep up the wonderful work! =)

Undertone Continuum by zigs 2010-08-23T15:57:00

Great job! The camera was indeed too low, and without reading the text file I never would have figured it out at all: counterintuitive. Also, the mouse cursor should go away as I kept aiming where the mouse icon was rather than where the reticle was. All it needs is polish, and a screen that explains how to shoot, etc. Overall, good job - I like the idea of the colour mixing.

Robocolosseum by Toeofdoom 2010-08-23T16:22:00

Wonderful graphics, original concept, and absolutely freaking awesome piano music you made for this! I am extremely impressed. Keep up the fabulous work!

Rainbow Hero by chaotikZA 2010-08-23T19:39:00

Double ZOMBIE Rainbow for the wiiiiin! You gotta love the joke theme here - thanks for incorporating my silly bit of photoshopping into the game. I'm giving you a few free bonus points just for having fun with the non-theme. Well done! Rainbow ray!!!

The enemy of my enemy is my heat-seeking missile by pdyxs 2010-08-23T15:21:00

Very original concept. I really like the colour-coded detector mechanic. Since you move with the arrow keys, I had to take my hands off the keyboard to click between levels which was frustrating. So my one suggestion to make the great game even better would be to make the SPACEBAR close a dialog so you never have to switch from keyboard to mouse and back. Great work!

Green Triangle Ship vs. Alien Chaos Spheres by Dan C 2010-08-23T16:50:00

Great movement and speed: very smooth. I wish the playfield was bigger, it sure felt cramped! Overall, nice style and cool sounds.

Possessomancer by justin c. rounds 2010-08-23T16:40:00

Good job. I like the electricity effect and it definitely uses the ld48 theme. It seems to take about 25 seconds before any enemies appear, at first I thought the game was broken as nothing was happening. Keep up the good work.

Dr. Stein's Super Weapons VS Giant Robots by benjaminum 2010-08-23T15:25:00

Fantastic concept: I love the magnet controls. To improve the great game, I would SLOW it down: a lot. The jumping and movement seems insane and extremely hard to control with finesse. Overall, fantastic work. I am very impressed, and my favourite part is the NPC dialog. Wicked.

HelgasWorldDomination by glethien 2010-08-23T16:48:00

This is a JAM entry: no source required. Overall, very interesting game, but since it was a two player game I had no opponent so I didn't stick with it for long. Great work.

Swordfish Fisher-Fish by CampingTrio 2010-08-23T16:35:00

Very tasty! SFERNALD: This is a JAM entry and source code is NOT required. Great game, I would have loved to hear some underwater sounds and fish eating sound effects. Not sure if the second 3d window was required - it just got in the way. Keep up the great work- well done.

Dodge by pekuja_jam 2010-08-24T08:56:00

Not bad. Simplistic but functional. Using Unity for this kind of game is like hammering a nail with a tank, but the game is just as described. I would have loved some use of Unity's strengths: maybe the baddies could have been 3d robots or asteroids, etc, some sound, maybe some cool explosion particle systems when red buddies collide, maybe they could speed up over time... there's a lot of room for improvement, but it works perfectly and for a game you spent only one hour on, not bad at all.

Didi by Wiering 2010-08-24T08:52:00

I really like Didi! I love her hairstyle, and overall the game's graphics are really nice and colourful and good looking. The movement is smooth, and the levels are well designed. I love how at the end of the level you spin a sign in that Sonic the Hedgehog kind of way. Superb.

Doors and some other stuff by Hempuli 2010-08-23T16:59:00

Pretty cool! Good puzzle. This could be turned into a polished game that could sell: a whole bunch of fun doors-you-can-move puzzles would be great.

Super Collide-Em-Up by Draknek 2010-08-23T19:48:00

Great graphics, great physics, fast action. Amazing job. I love the death toll population numbers! I wish the asteroids would actually break up when hit. Overall, an excellent game.

Modulopod by shaktool 2010-08-23T16:44:00

Totally awesome! I love the super-cool ship design with the jointed tentacles. The graphics are superb. The balance is just right: I "almost had him" many times. The music is also good. Overall, a top-notch effort with aunique look, good use the of theme, and it just oozes creativity and style. Love it!

Bubble Tag by Sparky 2010-08-23T15:32:00

Wonderful graphics, smooth and silky and attractive. Great concept, I really like the blobbiness of your castles. Took me a few moments to figure out. Fantastic job: with more modes, colours, and weapons this could really be a fantastic strategy/shooter game. I'm very impressed.

Cannonon by mklee 2010-08-24T08:48:00

Really nice and smooth. It makes me think of arcade style "vector" graphics. I like how the bullets bounce around and reflect off the walls. Excellent.

Psychic Prison Break by superflat 2010-08-23T15:51:00

Great vibe, nice intro screen, original concept. I found the button pressed we'rent "debounced" meaning sometimes I double-skipped a message or held X down a fraction of a second too long and a prompt came and went. Pretty cool: keep up the great work. I'd love to see this expanded some more. Frankly though I like the gfx you need more pixels, the font is really hard to read. Overall, great job.

Survive 60 by ExciteMike 2010-08-23T16:13:00

Great work. I like the screensaver in the background. The one counter-intuitive thing is that because the background is fixed in place it never feels like I'm moving. Coupled with the magnetic camera and the whole time it felt like I wasn't in control. Overall, a really atmospheric, quality game. Keep up the great work!

LD19 — Discovery

Epic Treasure Hunter by sirGustav 2010-12-22T19:50:00

I like the adventurer main character. A few graphical glitches and weak sound, but apart from some polish issues overall I am very impressed! Keep up the good work.

Abarrane by refrag 2010-12-22T19:42:00

Unique and original - very cool! I love the rpg vibe and the totally fresh subject matter. You have helped me to ascend to the next level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Sitting pretty at the pinnacle, I realize that I'm lucky to have food, shelter, love and security and only now that I have all those things am I free to pursue my passions in life, such as creating video games. I think pretty much every LDer is very high on the hierarchy, after all, if we were starving, homeless or running for our lives the last thing we'd be thinking about is joining game jams. Great work!

Frolicking Furballs Safari Resort by Sos 2010-12-23T08:28:00

Voxelicious! Congratulations on amazing achievement. I am totally blown away. The way you create 3d shapes from a front and side view bitmap is incredible. One of the very best games of the entire jam. Keep up the amazing work.

Orbs of Sound by Sakar 2010-12-19T06:26:00

Extremely cool. To me, it felt like cave diving underwater with scuba equipment. I love the fog effect and the sense of diving into a huge cavern. I find the mouse sensitivity too high, and would have loved to find something at the edges (eg the very bottom when the world stops there is infinite nothingness), but overall, wonderful work! Well done!

Snowboggan! by McFunkypants 2010-12-22T19:38:00

Thank you! =D

Or Perish by dwrensha 2010-12-22T19:54:00

Not bad. I like the mysterious music. The art could use some work, especially the walk cycle animation, and it takes a long time to get anywhere interesting: but I'm just nit picking. Overall, very good. Keep up the excellent work.

Light Source by flashkick 2010-12-22T01:08:00

Overall, just great! The light stays on just long enough to make it entirely possible to get to the next battery. Not sure what teh goal was, apart from exploring deeper and deeper into the maze. Is there an exist? Powerups other than batteries? Who knows. Great work! I'd love each battery to be a "save point".

Ball Pit by Wyzfen 2010-12-19T20:02:00

Excellent concept! I'd love to see this expanded to become a puzzle game similar to a match-three but in 3d and with all the interesting physics interactions you have going on here. Original and fresh! Great work.

LD20 — It's Dangerous to Go Alone! Take This!

Attack of The Heavenly Bats by Sos 2011-05-09T21:52:00

Totally awesome! I love it. I got stuck once or twice as well, but for the most part this was one of my favourite games of the compo. Keep up the awesome work.

Asteroid Explorer by McFunkypants 2011-05-03T16:36:00

Thanks for the feedback guys! As-is there are zero errors in my tests in all browsers (FF, Chrome, IE, Opera, Safari).

Sadly I believe that you need a newer version of Molehill that is not yet public. I hope to revisit the code later this week and make it work with the public prerelease version.

Compare your watermark version to mine (11,0,0,144d): do they match?

No worries: that's what happens when you ride the bleeding edge of beta. I wish I was allowed to post a standalone .exe for this. I have the means but not the permission. =)

A Unnamed Whale Adventure by anthonyl 2011-05-10T22:01:00

Web build please! =)

A Sword and His Hero by rtward 2011-05-10T22:01:00

Looks awesome. I would love a windows or web build.

LD21 — Escape

Reach For It by Noel Berry 2011-08-31T17:35:00

Absolutely awesome! Great gfx, great colours, great play feel. I love the "locks" idea. Fan-freaking-tastic work, Noel!

Bounce-onium! by McFunkypants 2011-08-23T22:27:00

Thanks for all the kind words, people! There is a new post-compo version with over 25 levels, along with far better level design including: SPIKES! LAVA! LASERS!

The game is actually an Android app and runs really smoothly on my HTC Desire Z (and this is why it is so big: the resolution of my phone is 480x800). I'm planning tomake a smaller version for people without HD monitors. I'll be posting version 1.1 by the end of the week - finally it will be a more fully fleshed out game as this compo editing is admittedly rather sparse with only 5 levels.

Escape from Castle Puzzlestein by stigrv 2011-08-31T07:17:00

Really cool. Original, fresh, innovative. Keep up the fantastic work. This would be a great TBS game with more polish and new artwork.

Bountyhunted! by Hempuli 2011-08-31T07:36:00

Very well done. Don't be so hard on yourself!

Robot Run by surreal_whale 2011-08-31T07:30:00

Pretty decent. I like the idea of a reverse tower defense. Keep up the great work! This would be pretty cool with more polish.

Sharks Are Evil by Psy 2011-08-31T07:13:00

Really nice! Reminds me of ATARI games like Kaboom in a vague way. Great work!

Abscond by Hanoran 2011-08-31T07:23:00

Very well done! Intelligent, fresh, fun and interesting.

Duke Ludum Forever by Apogee 2011-08-31T07:15:00

LOL.

BATHOS by johanp 2011-08-31T07:28:00

Wonderful pixel art. Fun idea. Very well done!

Vault by hamburger 2011-08-31T07:33:00

Absolutely wonderful puzzle mechanic. This was one of my faves. Would love to see a bigger game with more colour and a billion levels, running on my phone. Very well done!

LD22 — Alone

Afrocity Atrocity by Sos 2012-01-10T01:53:00

Afro-liciously wicked. Awesome in every way.

Accident by AbelToy 2011-12-19T22:19:00

Fantastic lighting, cool keyboard layout that supports many languages, fun and original bouncy mechanic - overal, really excellent work.

Accident by AbelToy 2011-12-19T22:19:00

Fantastic lighting, cool keyboard layout that supports many languages, fun and original bouncy mechanic - overall, really excellent work.

Lost by Manuel777 2011-12-28T23:05:00

Really beautiful graphics. I LOVE the kittie! The sitting animation is awesome and the water reflection and general colour palette is superb. Keep up the great work.

[Greeble] by McFunkypants 2011-12-20T23:27:00

Thanks for all the kind words folks!

QUESTION: do you think this game shows enough promise to be worth of me expanding it into a full game with multiple levels, plot, battles and enemies?

[Greeble] by McFunkypants 2011-12-21T17:06:00

The funny thing about slowdowns is that on my 5 year old computer I get 60fps on ALL browsers - tested in IE, Chrome, FF, Safari, and all stay silky smooth 60fps the entire time. Thet said, when I play it on my netbook it runs pretty slow.

I bet it you update your browser to the latest and greatest version the fps will double, since recent versions use hardware compositing for canvas while 6 month old browsers do it all in software.

5 DAYS by matthias_zarzecki 2012-01-10T01:43:00

Pretty fantastic. Great job. The lack of a crosshair is a glaring omission, but otherwise this is nearly perfect! Keep up the wonderful work.

The Misadventures Of Homeless Dave by raver1975 2012-01-10T01:39:00

This is pretty awesome, in a silly way.

Arzea by arkeus 2012-01-10T01:46:00

Fantastic! Amazing levels, beautiful graphics. Keep up the awesome work.

20/30 by saintofpenguins 2011-12-19T22:23:00

HUG MONSTER by recursive frog 2012-01-10T01:49:00

Fun and silly and fresh and low-fi in a neato way. Well done!

LD23 — Tiny World

Alien Archaeologist by jplur 2012-04-30T22:23:00

Great work! My favourite thing about this game is the random level generation, digdug style arcade gameplay, and the fun sprites. Well done.

ONLY US by Datamosh 2012-04-30T23:19:00

Great work! I love the graphics. I wish the intro conematic was shorter - I wanted to "jump right in" and start playing immediately. Keep working on this - it is very interesting.

Bacterial World by mneubrand 2012-04-23T20:38:00

I loved it! My favourite thing is your green travelling companion. Somehow he makes the game twice as good. Watching what he does makes the journey less tedious. The performance was flawless - pure 60fps, everything worked perfectly. Keep up the great work!

Tiny World Of Life by Tinco 2012-04-30T23:21:00

Excellent puzzle game! Worked perfectly. Very original idea. I've always been a huge fan of cellular automata. This would make a cool mobile APP. Keep up the good work.

Tiny Galaxy by devince 2012-04-30T23:16:00

Very impressing. The gameplay was ok, the graphics were ok... but the *idea* itself was very original and that's what I loved most of all. Keep up the great work!

Laser Coin Planets by mortehu 2012-04-30T23:12:00

Incredible! Silky smooth 60 fps, great controls, nice speedy action. I really like the "jump pads" concept. Keep up the fantastic work! I loved it.

My Little Dungeon by thegreystudios 2012-04-30T23:05:00

A masterpiece. Fresh, original, beautiful, fun. I'm blown away. One of the very best. KEEP WORKING ON THIS GAME and polish it (make it faster? more choices? more strategies?) and you will have a true classic.

muniverse by namuol 2012-04-30T23:00:00

Very interesting and deep! Complex enough controls to scare me away (the "wall of text effect", but I can tell it is a super awesome effort for those looking for a deep space trading sim!

Wonderful work. I'm very surprised at the canvas performance - you should be able to optimize the renderer a LOT more. The design of the game is WONDERFUL - art and sounds and concept. The little silver tube you fall through near the door: I completely missed it and (I'm ashamed to admit) gave up after 5+ mins of wondering what I was missing) and only get it the second time around. Idea: make that tube way more obvuous, for first timers - I big flash arrow or glow or nothing there at all - just blank space - to train newbies what to look for. Once I got past the first door I had fun. Wonderful work. Keep up the good job and be sure to check out other canvas renderers and see how it is they can push so many more pixels before the FPS suffers. You can expect to push a 640x480 canvas with parallax bg and many tiles at 60fps no problem. For example, using www.jawsjs.com

Dr. Nano - tiny surgeon by McFunkypants 2012-04-23T19:02:00

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! As usual, me being the coder who made the game (and playtested it while working on it umpteen times) can blast past everything on the first life. Naturally it is pretty tough ig you don't have: 1. practise, 2. 60fps, 3. widescreen monitor, 4. experience with bullet hell games.

That said, for a little prototype I'm so happy that it works on your computers. I really appreciate your playtests and comments!

Memento XII by deepnight 2012-04-24T03:49:00

Another masterpiece by the ruler of Ludum Dare. Deepnight always makes the best looking games in LD48. Everyone should check out his or her previous entries from past Ludum Dares. Legendary.

Little Knight's Tiny World by jim3wg 2012-04-23T20:17:00

Amnesic prince by qosmos 2012-04-23T20:26:00

I love the cool graphics. Very good work! Could use some more sound effects, and perhaps less text. Overall, pretty great! Keep up the good work.

48 hour MMO by mikolalysenko 2012-04-23T20:30:00

Good work! Remember you have to post the source code to qualify for Ludum Dare. The high contrast graphics made it seem a bit "noisy" - the grass and rock would be nicer with less detail, and I wish it was BIGGER in terms of screen real estate, but otherwise, pretty awesome effort!

Gravity Force 3 by refreshgames 2012-04-23T20:41:00

Awesome work! Great FPS, totally playable. I love being able to hold down the fire button to release bigger bullets. I wish I could "switch directions" but that's a core gameplay concept you shouldn't change or it would be too easy. Overall, extremely impressing, greate graphics, nice idea, good old fashioned arcadey goodness! Keep up the great work.

Well done! Very simple - in a good way!

HUNGRY BUGS by brackeen 2012-04-23T20:44:00

Wonderful concept. Totally original. I'd love to see this fleshed out into a bigger game. I love the sandbox physics and simulation aspect. Wish there were "plant seeds". A truly awesome effecrt, totally fresh and very impressive.

Really fantastic work. Beautiful big world to explore. Cute graphics. Love it. Keep up the amazing work.

LD24 — Evolution

Evo Dash by Karel 2012-08-28T20:51:00

I am BLOWN AWAY by the originality, fun and HTML5 goodness. Very well done! 60fps!

Cage Flight by Will Edwards 2012-09-12T20:03:00

A great effort! My machine can run any webGL demo at 60fps but this one was very choppy: 5-10fps - enough that it was unplayable. Overall, a cool idea that simply needs more polish. Since my rig can handle super complex webGL without problems, the issue is the implementation, not my graphics drivers or browser version. That said, a respectable effort! Keep up the great work!

Papillon by ChevyRay 2012-08-29T20:52:00

Beautiful art! Highly ambitious - enough that some polish would be needed to add to the fun factor. Suggestions to make this a top notch, buyable game: no backtracking ever. Sound, of course. Tutorial signs explaining things to noobs.

Overall: phenomenal. Beautiful. Smooth. Interesting. Unfinished but FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC regardless.

Box vs. Nature by pekuja 2012-08-28T21:05:00

Fantastic! 60fps. Love the health bars. I wish you could hold down two arrow keys for diagonal shots. Reminds me of robotron, smash tv etc. Keep up the awesome work.

Tiny Evolution Adventure by AdventureIslands 2012-08-29T20:42:00

Absolutely fantastic! Looks incredible. The parallax backgrounds and pixelly goodness is spectacular. Everything is smooth and playable. The music was the weakest part - it certainly isn't bad at all, but doesn't make me think of underwater scenes. It would be great to have a progress bar to see how close you are to evolving. Amazing work!

Badass by Sos 2012-08-29T20:58:00

Holy shimoley this game is fast action goodness, funny and cool. As always, you are pretty awesome. Pure silly fun in the best possible way.

Clever Blocks by Cthulhu 2012-08-30T03:10:00

At first I didn't get it, but once I gave the block colours some thought I started to GROW and GORW and was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the zooming out effect. Pretty darn cool! Great, original, fresh, interesting game!

Reckless Abandon by clavicarius 2012-08-28T20:48:00

Project Maple by Morac 2012-08-30T02:59:00

Not only does this game ROCK, but the sound effects are absolutely funny as can be. Love it.

Socket City by SethR 2012-09-06T23:45:00

Really cool idea. I'd love to see it fleshed out more. In particular, I found some of the objects a bit hard to see. It ran like butter on my flash. Keep up the fantastic work!

Beyond Our Sacred Sun by the31 2012-08-29T21:04:00

Promising! Keep working on it!

Fantasy Map Tactics by McFunkypants 2012-08-27T19:08:00

Thanks for all the kind words, people! I really struggled to finish on time. I had to scale back many of my ideas: initially I'd hoped to make a full-on tactics game, with various attacks and stats and experience points and all the rest. The "unarmed" insta-death mechanic was born out of time constraints and honestly I think it is a BETTER game because of it!

New players: please keep the comments coming. Your feedback is extremely valuable to me. In particular, I'm open to any suggestions for improvement!

Strike of Rage ! by deepnight 2012-09-17T23:58:00

I absolutely LOVE the plasma fire effect on the title screen planet. Really nice look and feel. Well done!

Kings of the Archipelago by feyleaf 2012-08-28T20:55:00

Pretty awesome! Nice isometric gfx. A bit too complex but keep working on it! There is definitely a lot of potential here, just waiting for more polish and simplification. Great job.

Corvus by Trollamor 2012-08-29T21:08:00

Relaxing... yet it has an undertone of tension. I love Marta's flying bird animation. This would be cool to keep working on and make something really beautiful. Imagine easier constellations (closer together stars) and each star you hit is a tone in a proper CHORD. Create a constellation and that chord is added to the music. Your quest could be to build a nice piece of music, a 1-5-7 chord progression or something, perhaps fail conditions would be any sour avoid notes that are dissonant to whatever key we're in. Great work.

Watercolor Wheel Evolution by tcstyle 2012-09-06T23:47:00

I absolutely LOVE that you got to make a game with your little daughter. This is a dream of mine: someday I hope to to gamedev with my baby son. Great work!

Funniest game so far. A masterpiece in every way. I really, really love it.

The Unbeatable Blob by Gemberkoekje 2012-08-28T20:58:00

Pretty cool! You could turn it into a Katamari Damaci type of "growing eating" game. Great work! Keep going - I'd love to see this fleshed out.

LD25 — You are the Villain

ECHO CHAMBER by Loren 2012-12-16T19:02:00

Super Paper Monster Smasher by Jesse Freeman 2012-12-19T19:30:00

Fantastic work! Loved it! Works flawlessly on my android 2.3 htc desire z. Love the look. Suggestions: stop default doubleclick zoom event, scroll to exactly where the game is on mobile, no margins on html page so you don't have to horizontally scroll to get game in middle of screen. Keep up the awesome work!

LD26 — Minimalism

Stick Man Run by LZAntal 2013-04-29T21:04:00

Nice! Love the "aaaaaah" sound. tested it on my htc desire z android 2.3 phone and it works but the jump seems to be 4x as far (in the air for like 5 seconds). Framerate dependent physics? Keep up the great work!

Rokhopr by David Durham 2013-04-29T22:03:00

BRILLIANT control scheme. Totally original to me. This is pretty much the perfect execution of the minimalism theme. Great work.

The Creation by netgrind 2013-04-29T22:15:00

Really amazing work. So much intelligence and thoughtfulness and relazing mind candy to be had. Takes patience. Good job!

Digging For A Potato by kewry 2013-04-29T22:18:00

Cool game! I was running in Chrome and the performance was excellent. Would love more feedback for when you're about to die. Keep up the great work.

Freedom by orangepascal 2013-04-29T21:19:00

Great work... nice art... good sounds... but I gave up quickly after nothing seemed to happen. After reading the comments, it sounds like I just had to wait around for something? Patience and gamers do not go hand-in-hand. =)

Minimal Hero by Kimau 2013-04-29T22:01:00

Worked perfectly. Love the changing camera distances. This would be ideal for phones and tablets as I'm sure you've considered. Keep up the great work, USER NUMBER FIFTEEN!

Mag by alexfalkenberg 2013-05-02T04:50:00

Pretty damn awesome! I had absolutely no idea where any enemy bullets were, though, so for me dying was completely random and unexpected. Somehow, I still loved it. GREAT WORK!

10 Second Language by Loren 2013-04-29T22:27:00

Abstract and beautiful. I'd love more concrete rules for each keypress - something completely predictable. Harsh sounds making sharp edges, soft ones making rounded ones... then again, perhaps this is already the case! Interesting. Great work.

(Follow the) Line by Chman 2013-04-29T21:15:00

Really fantastic! Makes me think of light cycles. Worked flawlessly for me. Great work!

Monoboy by jhrrsn 2013-04-29T21:25:00

Potatolicious. Spudtastic. Fun!

VTanks by jpverkamp 2013-04-29T21:31:00

Nice work! This would be a cool worms style game engine that you could build upon.

Million Dollar Manbaby by Lianne Booton 2013-04-29T22:38:00

Awesome work! I really love the "stick limbs to yourself" mechanic. Not "minimalism" themed in the slightest, but damn good game and that's what counts. Original! Fun! Great art!

Free by vladimirdlc 2013-04-29T22:23:00

A very cool idea for movement that just needs more polish to bring it to the next level. Great work.

The Sentient Cube by Omiya Games 2013-04-29T21:10:00

Absolutely wonderful! So much fun, chaotic, fresh and sweet. Ideas: remove the "noise" from your textures: it would be cleaner and more beautiful with plain colours, not the + and | and O checkerboards over everything. Idea #2 - air control. Keep up the wonderful work. My fave game so far!

WALK by Nonameghost 2013-04-29T22:32:00

Cool stuff. Definitely needed the walkthrough youtube video. A good start! Keep up the great work.

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-04-29T21:40:00

OMG a fishin' game? This must be your dream come true! I love the fish mesh - and the wisdom - and that fact that they can fly away. Sweet, fresh and fantastic. Shades of Okami. GREAT WORK!

Balls Balls Balls by matthias_zarzecki 2013-04-29T21:46:00

Really awesome. Like a minimalistic mini-golf or pool game. Fresh, cool and pretty darn fun!

Please Ignore The Dancing Llama by Zed 2013-04-29T21:50:00

Pretty damn amazing. Funny. Fast. Cool. Great work!

P.S. Remember, a COMPO entry has to include SOURCE CODE, which is missing here. This, therefore, is a JAM entry. Which is totally cool - no big deal. The game still rocks.

Proletarian Ninja X by deepnight 2013-08-27T00:50:00

Great work, as always! So nice and FAST!

Super Box Boy Flies by Jesse Freeman 2013-08-25T20:59:00

So simple and fun. Love it. One thing that would be great would be more visual feedback on where you are at the moment: if the sky was a gradiant or there were mountains or something you could better judge when the ground was coming - the sky all looks the same, apart from the sun, etc. More points of reference are what I'm thinking of. GREAT WORK!

LD28 — You Only Get One

Burning Love by Ted Brown 2013-12-16T21:10:00

You *CAN* win, guys! Just create a simple shape like a circle with no overlaps or open walls.

Seed by deadlypear 2013-12-16T22:35:00

Really beautiful art. I would love to see this turned into a deeper turn based puzzle game with many seeds rather than just one. With more clear interaction feedback between different terrain types, I would know which layouts of garden would grow the fastest. Right now I'm not sure I got how to best choose the ideal spot. GREAT WORK!

JumpMan by LevelUpJordan 2013-12-16T23:05:00

Great feel! So nice and smooth, all the nice znimations and particles and menus all seem to move in a silky smooth 60fps. Great work!

==============================================

THANK YOU SO MUCH for all your wonderful feedback. =D

BE SURE TO PLAY THE POST-JAM HOTFIX. Way better camera, more air control, less slippery physics means the controls and "feel" have been vastly improved. No new features have been added, so I suppose this fix is "legal" for judging, but I've left both versions up for posterity and transparency.

The sounds are perfect: never annoying.

The extra "juice" for things like 100% match! Affinity and the wax seals are so cool.

Awesome work! Took me a minute to see the corner was changing but once I knew what to do I liked it!

This is a really cool mechanic, and nicely presented with unique artwork. I definitely liked this one! Nice work.

Absolutely phenomenal. Incredible engine, love the connection of your physics state to your shape! So polished, so amazing. I wish the shooters hate a lower rate of fire, but otherwise this is near perfect in every way. Congrats on an amazing entry!

Booba Loomba by josemwarrior 2016-04-21T18:40:00

Great work! I started getting dizzy!

ORIKAMI by Mnemusyne 2016-04-19T18:59:00

Such wonderful colour choices and zen design! Very good work. Love the style.

Shape Attack by end3r 2016-04-21T22:57:00

Really nice and polished! 60fps, and very playable! I like the way the shape smoothly morphs.

SHAPE.SHIFT() by Xanjos 2016-04-21T17:51:00

Looks awesome! With a different camera angle I could see if I was aligned more easily. Or maybe a dotted line showing the shape's forward vector? Like a laser sight? In any case, great work!

Imperfection by Wertle 2016-04-21T18:37:00

So incredibly polished! The boss music! Everything really added to the tension. Nice work!

Laser Town by Hectigo 2016-04-19T19:07:00

Very polished, and runs with perfect performance. I wish the mirrors had a really shiny shader, but otherwise the art was perfect. A very impressive game! Nice work!

Johnicholas's LD35 Entry by Johnicholas 2016-04-21T19:19:00

I'm ashamed to admit that I could not figure out what I needed to do to make things happen intentionally, but the game intrigued me. A tutorial screen would be worth the time. Great work!

Quad Vector vs the Quantum Cats by madmarcel 2016-04-21T19:07:00

That felonious feline is the stuff of nightmares! =)

Railroad Shifter by dollarone 2016-04-21T17:56:00

Shadow of the Red Hand by andyman404 2016-04-21T18:47:00

OUTSTANDING visual style. What amazing design. Great work! I wish I could see farther away at times, but overall this was really polished and unique.

Hide and Squeak by MrDave 2016-04-19T18:56:00

Wow, this is SO POLISHED. Wonderful work. It's slick, playable, cool, and interesting. Loved it.

Sky Panic by ladybenko 2016-04-21T18:44:00

I really like the bright colours and clean shapes. This entry was so nice and polished. Great work.

Flatland Revolution by rcrmn 2016-04-21T18:52:00

Nice and smooth! I liked how you use the shape to signify number of hit points. I wish it was a bit harder: I just flew everywhere and always shot behind me, killing all the bots, so maybe a way for baddies to move more erratically and catch up would be good to focus the shooting in front of you. Keep up the awesome work.

Nice relaxing art and sound style. I enjoyed it.

Shape Escape by JoeManaco 2016-04-21T19:12:00

Wow, this is a *very* good game! I am so impressed. It is like a fast action puzzle. Making lightning fast decisions is something I am not good at! LOL so this was a huge challenge! Nice work. =)

Polytopian by sudojess 2016-04-22T03:25:00

What a cool mechanic! Ignoring the character controller issues, this could be the basis for a very cool puzzle game. I wish I could aim the ball perfectly with a laser sight or angrybirds dotted line preview of where it would land. Nice work!

Shapegrammer by APantaloni 2016-04-19T19:14:00

Really amazing work! I love the cool block shapes. But WOW was that ever hard for me. I wish the "next shape" was never behind the current shape so I could see it better. Awesome job.
