The paper graphics were pretty cool! Just missing the weapon... ;-)
Good atmosphere and graphics, but I found the "weapon" a bit too weird... Also suspect I ran into some bugs at the end though so couldn't see the end...
The darkness chasing me also seemed at odds with wanting to read characters' text at times, it may be nicer if there was a bit more separation between story bits and action bits.
Much more content than my entry though, so A for effort!
Awesome entry! Kept me coming back till I could finish it!
Very nicely done!
The sound effects were great and very funny - made the game!
Would've been awesome if they fought back!
Great stuff, really enjoyed it! Only wished for a bit more of an ending, but given the time constraint that's understandable...
Nice levels and puzzles - well done!
Great little entry, I quite enjoyed it!
The spacebar to control group size bit was a tad unintuitive, may be better if that was also mouse controlled with buttons to select number and send the group.
Great first entry - well done!
LOL :P
Nice first entry, well done!
Could've used a bit more variation and strategy...
I've never played Zelda, so have no idea how to beat the boss... can't seem to die either even though things keep on shooting me?
Have to agree with others that the keyboard controls sucked a bit - couldn't hold movement, had to tap it...
Looks like an all right entry for the time constraints though, well done.
Good entry given the timeframe, well done!
I also felt that there needed to be a little more mechanics wise to make it fun... On my machine I could see quite well without the torch, so some kind of alpha adjustment may be necessary...
Not bad for 3 hours - well done! Needs some more work to really become a game though...
Interesting idea and quite well done! Must say this is the best HTML5 entry I've played so far... most of them just crash :P.
I assumed I had to finish first, which made for an interesting get ahead but not too far ahead tension... got one of the AI cars stuck in terrain at one point leading to death :(...
Very pretty entry, the graphics are amazing! Well done!
I got stuck just after picking up the wall jump, because I couldn't use it to get out... maybe an easier first test of wall jumping abilities would be more appropriate?
Nice entry with cool visuals and animations - well done!
I couldn't figure out how to charge (no XBox here) and missed the message due to being in the middle of a fight :-/...
I left graphics N/A due to the tileset issue, but rated the rest...
Looks like an interesting idea, maybe if it was clear which heroes were good against which enemies it would help and maybe adding an element of defense too perhaps?
Well done on finishing something!
Good game - well done!
I'm not generally a fan of colour-mixing types of games, but your execution of the idea made it mostly playable until it got to the darker colours...
Well done, interesting prototype!
Really awesome game - well done!
Hehe, very nice - well done!
Agree with the comment that the SPACE key feels wrong... should've been all-mouse.
Cool graphics and music and it was interesting to see a pinball game :P...
Just not much fun, but well done on trying something unusual in the first place!
Quite a nice effort - well done!
Sorry...

Really awesome little puzzler! Your characters though simple have lots of personality :P!
Didn't have any crashing issues, so not sure why everybody else is struggling...
Simple, but nice - well done!
My first idea for this LD was to make a Gauntlet tribute (had to abort due to lack of art skills), throwing axes at ghosts reminded me of that :P...
Never got the rocket launcher :( - many bomb-launchers and machine guns and a not-very-shotgun and flamethrower once or twice...
Very cool little game - I quite liked the art style and the old hobo was funny! :P
Nice cutscene and good gameplay and graphics!
The jiggling tiles whenever you drop the rock really give it a feeling of great weight :P!
Very cool game well done! Much better than the other 2-3 Portal tributes I've had to suffer through so far :P...
Only thing I would comment on is that the Comp... ah ... Assistance Cube is a bit of small target to jump onto when using it to get over spikes, leading to some small frustration...
Well done on an interesting game! Not sure if I like the directional jump mechanic - still not quite used to it even after making it to the brown pants level...
Excellent entry!
Really enjoyed the graphics and gameplay - I'm also a sucker for airships :P!
Hope to see this developed further...
Really cool little entry - well done!
I was very disappointed by the early FIN - it was just getting interesting! Only other criticism was the slow walking speed - hold right click to make him hurry up perhaps?
Hehe, thought you're entry was made of awesome (except for crashing my browser twice and being too damn difficult - hitpoints please) - well done!
Couldn't get past level 1 due to crashes (Firefox 4.0.1).
Nice entry, well done!
Found the mouse-only controls to be a bit of a frustrating gimmick so I didn't really enjoy this :(...
Good looking and sounding entry though, well done!
Great game - well done!
Got stuck on level 4 - just too much to dodge / block! Also thought of the glide mechanic, which I saw in someone else's game (what's with the umbrellas?).
Very cool game - well done!
Agree that the wall-climb mechanic took a bit of getting used to but was quite intuitive to use once grasped. Restore points would've been nice, but Q to skip is a good alternative for those times you die from a spike a inch from the exit :P!
Nice entry - well done!
Also found the physics a bit frustrating, but still a good effort!
One suggestion I have is why do I need two different keys to pick up and throw the Bubba - one key that picks up if you don't have him and throws him if you do?
Damn, download doesn't want to start for me :(... Looks real interesting!
Well done on finishing a game for LD!
Found the gameplay a bit of a chore (waiting to press 1 button) and wasn't sure if clicking the spaceships did anything - didn't seem to...
Cool concept and well executed! Congratulations on a great entry!
Very interesting concept with good graphics and sound - well done on finishing!
Agree with everybody that said the balancing was still a bit too random, but given the time constraints that would be hard to improve...
Wow that was wonderful! I rated the graphics highly, because they supported the idea of being in a dream very well for me - almost suggesting sound and form rather than spelling them out!
This really reminded of Neil Gaiman's The Sandman - also with perhaps a bit of a Cthulhu bent to it (though I think Sandman has that too if I recall correctly)?
Nice work - well done on finishing!
I thought the characters and items looked quite good and the movement physics while not great are not *that* bad - I've felt a *LOT* worse these last 3 weeks :P!
Well done, a good first entry!
Just a bit too much to control for 1 player...
Great game, well done!
It's just a bit too tedious to replay a level after dying when you struggled for 10m to get past the 1st half...
A Windows executable would be nice... don't really have time to struggle to get your game running - it should just work ;-)!
Well done on finishing something for your first time!
Well done on finishing your first entry!
I think everything else that needs to be said has been said ;-)...
Good attempt for a first entry, well done!
Didn't find the same mechanic as fun as it was in Portal though...
Brilliant game, well done!!
About 450 ABUs...
*** SPOILER ALERT ***
Toaster :D! Awesome!!!
STOP into POTS :P...
***************************
Great entry well done - it was quite enjoyable and very funny!
Well done on finishing an entry with an interesting concept!
The controls felt a bit fiddly for me though: mouse sensitivity too high and jumps too small, making it a pain to control rather than fun...
Great game with very nice graphics (pity about the graphics glitch) - really enjoyed it!
Didn't think controlling two characters at once would work, but amazingly it did!
The background sometimes made areas that didn't contain water look like they did, so some visual changes to fix that would be nice...
Cool game and quite humorous!! Really enjoyed it, well done!
Your story line kept me going, as I really wanted to know what happens... the text was a bit hard to read though...
The puzzles were extremely challenging, great job!
Has a nice little Star-Warsy vibe to it, well done!
Was also disappointed by the EMP *Blaster* that ended up being realistic instead of pew-pew...
Awesome game with a really creative mechanic! Excellent for a first time entry, well done and keep it up!
Some of the jumps were a tad hard, but I guess without them it would've been a bit too short...
Managed to finish the first boss. It's a good entry, well done - sound and music worked together well!
Felt that the Z and X controls should've been swopped, I kept wanting to shoot with X and swop with Z...
Well done it's a good entry with very good graphics, sound and gameplay!
I hated the controls though, felt like walking through molasses or something - too much inertia on the player character...
Nice tribute to Zelda (though to be honest I never played it, so the charm is a bit lost on me). Agree that you could do more with the bendable paper clip mechanic.
All in all well done on a finishing a decent game!
The buddy coop mechanism was a cool idea, my buddy left me in jail in level 3 to "WIN" though :(! Bad fiance, bad!
Also thought the many RARs were a tad annoying, but it worked, so...
Well done on finishing something decent for your first LD!
My fiance is planning to frame the certificate :P...
My initial idea was to do a Gauntlet tribute, so I *wish* I could create graphics like yours - well done!
Didn't really enjoy the control scheme as much as others, the follow the mouse thing works for movement, but the fighting didn't really feel that cool to me... As an example enjoyed the mouse following control in Hamumu's entry, because you could turn it on / off with the LMB, giving more control.
Well done on finishing though, it's a pretty good entry!
Interesting start screen, but the gameplay was boring... it took way too long to ramp up the difficulty and then just ramped it up too much too fast.
Weirdest game I've played so far :P... well done on finishing something at least - keep trying!
Nice entry, it was very atmospheric and the intro sequence was quite funny (but not skippable - sucks for repeat plays)!
Initial framerate was also quite bad until I shot a couple of zombies at which point it became playable. Biggest other problem is the turning controls which seemed oversensitive at times (perhaps also framerate related).
Still a good entry for 48 hours, especially given the nice 3D graphics and atmospheric sound - well done!
Awesome gameplay I loved it (and my fiance too)!
I also went for minimal graphics, but this entry showed me how it should be done!
Really cute game!! Unfortunately I didn't get the audio so can't rate that, but really enjoyed the animations and even though it was a literal interpretation of the theme it was a very well executed!
Love the excited 'can haz kitteh' animation!
Interesting concept and nice graphics, though there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go yet?
Reminded me a bit of the enemies as weapons theme from LD18.
Quite a polished entry and an interesting concept! Took some time to figure out what all the dials at the top meant though and the way the level is designed you can't really get back to the top once you fall down...
Deducted one mark for audio after looking at Otomata, the music added to the polish, but it seems like no work using that...
Nice entry, well done! I only got to level 3 or 4 though, so I missed the ending... The graphics and sounds were quite good!
The game was difficult for the wrong reasons (unreliable glitchy controls) and levels designed so you have to play through and die before coming back and doing it right... that killed the fun factor for me (though the basic rope swinging mechanic is quite fun).
Nice little fighting game! The controls were quite responsive and the music and sound enhanced the game - also got to level 7, so I'm guessing there's a bit of a difficulty ramp there... a way to continue would've been nice so I could see if there was an ending of some sort.
Seems to be unfinished and broken :( - not sure - I've never played a Zelda game so maybe I missed something...
Very nice game, well done!!
The combination of minesweeper type mechanics with a horror setting and the use of audio cues was very innovative (audio did get a bit grating though)! I think you could turn this into an interesting game if you add slightly more diverse levels and an end goal (level 10 no end in sight?).
Also found the edges fairly safe routes through and the early game perhaps too easy for an experienced player, reducing replay value (see in your post you fixed this post-compo, will try it later).
Nice entry, well done on an interesting take on the shopkeeper idea!
A bit too easy once I figured out the patterns so could use some variation, but good given the time frame...
Brilliant - well done!
Clever idea, well done! Old men are a bit frustrating, but I guess that's the idea...
I have the technical prowess to make this run, but expecting me to go hunt dependencies is a bit much... You should use something like py2exe next time if you want useful feedback.
Screenshot looks decent and well done for being able to finish an entry at age 15 - keep trying!
No binary for Windows? Seems to have a missing dependency on Pyglet in Windows... I have a little rusty experience from back when Python 2.5 was still new, but I don't have time to go hunting dependencies, sorry.
An easily accessible binary distribution of some sort is really essential to getting rated, pity - your game sounded interesting...
Too hard for me, but fairly pretty and sounds good!
Really cool take on the theme, well done!
Not entertaining for very long, but still nicely done...
Very nice 1st entry - well done!
I really like the concept, but also had the same experience as Winterblood... text would probably take away from the atmosphere, so a way to skip backwards / forwards would be nice...
Good attempt!
Nice entry, marred a bit by the glitches / bugs though... good attempt, keep it up!
Hehe, it was funny - well done! I think I may have missed some minigames, not sure...
Very nice entry, well done! A pity it was so short and easy, but the idea has potential...
I quite liked the music and sound!
Awesome entry, very atmospheric and well polished - well done!
Only negative I've got is that I got the impression (possibly incorrectly) that I couldn't die / fail, which stole from the tension a bit...
Very nice elegant little entry well done! The audio though simple, worked quite well adding to the game rather than detracting as is so often the case in LD games!
Your game mechanic is pretty similar to the one I used, but I think you managed to get more content in level-wise and in terms of polish - I had more varied enemies but no time to really use them...
Looks like a good entry, well done!
I think I may have missed the good parts :-(... got stuck at a jump near some lava pretty early on...
Wow, really nice entry (especially for a first LD) - your game has so much personality - it's awesome!!! Agree that the music was a bit grating, but just having music is a bit of extra polish to me, so well done!
****** SPOILER ALERT ******
Now for the bad part... you are an evil, evil person :P!
After giving me hope for kitty there's that part with the traps and the fire spewing monster and the levers - that last F jump for the top lever is impossible I managed it once in 100+ attempts and then I have to do it under time pressure :(... would've loved to see the ending :'(...
****** END SPOILER ALERT ******
Really awesome little puzzler - well done! I enjoyed the puzzles and the graphics - some psychedelic music would've gone nicely along with it :P!
Nice entry overall, you managed to get lots of stuff in there and good adherence to the theme - keep up the good work!
Even it it is a bit unpolished: it wasn't really clear where I should go to and in the beginning I fell off landed on a platform and found an engineer then saw another one above me and couldn't get back up so I had to restart, then later I couldn't see where to go so I tried jumping off again - to my sudden doom 1 floor down... a bit more linear level design may actually be a good idea for this type of game, like needing a gift from an engineer to progress to a next area.
Sorry, your game looked interesting, but I'm giving up, because I can't download it :(...
I *!HATE!* RapidShare - I've waited 1:50 four times now - twice my session timed out and twice it told my IP has changed (which it couldn't have unless if my ISP is doing something strange)... Next time please try using something like Dropbox or a publicly shared document from Google Docs where you can just post a direct download link that works... Rant off.
Well done on finishing a game for the compo though, keep it up!
Nicely done, obviously not very innovative (then again my long-term game project I'm working on is also a vertical shooter), but I kinda enjoyed it! Keep up the good work!
Wow really nice entry, well done on the robot graphics and the interesting concept!
If it wasn't for the post here saying you could jump I'd have thought this was a very bare-bones prototype - went back and I think I finished what was there...
Really nice game, quite enjoyed it! The graphics and sound worked together very well to make this quite atmospheric. I think an indicator of how far from the surface you are would've been a nice touch..
The long wait after hitting something was a little annoying, but I can see how it would've been worse if it caused death, so I think its a good compromise to make the game more accessible.
Wow, excellent - well done!
Wow - amazing game!!
It's Nintendo hard or I just suck! Best I got was enemy castle down to 17...
Wow - awesome for 10 hours of work! Well done!
Looks promising, but I only maintain a Linux install at work where I can't play... Generally do my gaming on Windows, so a Windows executable would've been nice :-/
Nice entry well done! Good looking and seems fairly polished!
I just didn't enjoy it very much - it felt a but unfair towards the player with my gun shooting so slowly and the enemies apparently having homing bullets / aiming where I'm going to be... the jump physics also felt... weird...
Gameplay was a bit simple, but the graphics were absolutely lovely! Well done!
Quite nice - well done!
I didn't have music unfortunately... otherwise not too shabby! Well done on finishing something.
No Mac, sorry...
Looks quite nice - well done on finishing something!
The difficulty just made go aaarrRRGH!!! :P
Nice looking and sounding and very funny! Found the fun factor a bit lacking though :-/...
Very nice graphics! Pity you didn't have time to add more gameplay...
No Windows phone :( - sorry - looked interesting...
Nice effort, well done - fairly polished for 48 hours!
I not a fan of the mash-buttons-in-order-to-do-some-abstract-task mechanic :( - would've been better if I could hit stuff with my shiny sword of confidence :P!
Nice game - well done on graphics and sound! Pity you didn't have time to add more content...
Really pretty and atmospheric - well done!!
Too hard & frustrating for me to get anywhere though...
Very innovative and the graphics are nice - managed to finish it and killed all the bugs on the second level :)! Well done!
Very nice game - everything worked together very well! It's brutally hard, but cooled down, came back and finished it...
I think you succeeded very well at your Filmation engine imitation, because the game reminded me of Alien 8, which Wikipedia says was also built with Filmation!
The only complaint I have is the controls - they felt weird (felt like it was rotated 90 degree to movement, but that may just be mental short-circuit on my part) and I got killed numerous times going from room to room due to lag holding down a button and lagging on loading.
Nice attempt and interesting graphics! Controlling two characters when they're kinda hard to distinguish is too hard - would've been better if player 2 was the doggie, then it wouldn't be so easy to confuse characters...
Very nice first entry! Would've been awesome if you got in some additional content.
Interesting entry - well done! Everybody else already said everything...
Very nice graphics! Got stuck on the 2nd screen unfortunately...
I have my doubts about the gameplay - it feels like I'm watching not playing - when I did throw a battery chaos ensued contributing even more to the feeling of lack of control.
Nice attempt though - keep it up!
Very well done! I enjoyed it in spite of the lack of challenge :P!
The spear so long it looks like you can pole vault with it (hint hint game mechanic idea); the baby was hilarious and I just loved sheep-riding zombie-crowd-surfing my way to 2800 kills before being killed at the end of a level, because my spear rotated to the left as the screen stopped scrolling... at least I took 2800 zombies with me!
Was a hoot and all-round very well polished - congratulations on a great entry!
Nice idea, although the theme connection is a bit tenuous... I also found the ball control quite finicky, even though I figured it out early on.
All in all, well done on a fairly complete first entry though! Way better than my first entry to an LD a few years back!!
Brilliant! :D
Really innovative entry, well done! It made me think of typing tutor games... Head exploding amount of multitasking required once they start coming fast - if the traps didn't have such long reload times I'd have been bashing at my keyboard with my palms!
Wow, really an excellent entry! Agreed on the theme problem, but then I had exactly that problem too, so who am I to judge :P!
Wow, very well done! Finished it!
Really nice effort - got a chuckle from me!
The game does have a very nice atmosphere, but I agree that the gameplay needs some work - nice effort though!
Btw, had a crash issue on Windows XP - had to set the executable to Windows 98 compatibility to be able to play.
Nice :) - I enjoyed it!
Nicely done - just too short!
Something is wrong with my Chrome installation at the moment so I am unable to play :( - looks interesting...
Excellent - a work of art!
Cool game, well done - really liked the music as Fenmar said - a goal would've been nice!
Very nice! The lighting is very atmospheric, would've been awesome if you could add music!
Not bad, looks like you got a quite a lot of stuff in and you even have music and sound!
The wall-jump required near the beginning is very hard and unintuitive (seems to take too many keypresses) and the lack of save points made it too painful to finish.
Fun flying mechanic, but I also had some difficulty seeing where I'm going, taking away any sense of control / strategy... Very nice graphics!
Also stuck at the pit... nice looking game though!
Very nicely done!
Took me a while to figure out that I need to scroll manually and I got stuck at the first 2 bouncing red blocks :(... The slow speed at which the character moves is a bit annoying when you try the same puzzle 10 times...
Other than that, good idea and well done!
Had the same problem with OpenAL32.dll, but copied it from my game and it worked.
Quite the unique idea! Not sure how it fits the theme, but well done on finishing an interesting game!
Quite nice, well done! Especially enjoyed the little comments from the characters as they threw stuff :)!
Excellent idea and very addictive - I almost ragequit on the boss level, but beat it at the end!
You've made a very nice game! Very well done and sorry you didn't make it in time for the competition!
Your graphics are great, the sound was good (loved the zombie laugh) and the gameplay was fun, well done!
I had some bugs on my first play through (transparent ground on level 1, got stuck in the castle bits on lvl 5 with some bombs next to me that never went off - have screenshot mail me at mattpwest@gmail.com if you want to see).
The ball rolling mechanic in itself is quite fun, I think a bomber man + marble madness (had to go Youtube that) could make for a pretty fun game! I would throw in some Carmageddon TDR2000 for ideas as well, because for some reason it reminded me of that...
Awesome concept and great graphics, looks like its got a lot of potential!
I didn't realize the thing at the bottom was a health bar / enemy until reading it here in the comments, so I didn't see any theme relation at first.
The gameplay was a bit simple, but other than that it looks fairly well put together.
Nice entry - the collision issues were a pain, but if you fixed that this could be fun! The stunned spiders looked cool :)
I also didn't like that you had to kill all the spiders to advance (stopped me from continuing past level three because it was very unforgiving).
Cool concept! I think this could make a really cool game if you got to the art (gore), dismemberment and made it a bit more difficult :)!
Great technical effort for 48 hours and nice journal!
Hehe, that was some funny fun :D! Well done!
Agree about the difficulty curve and that managers should splat when they hit the pavement.
Very nice game - even your placeholder graphics are 10 times better than mine! The game reminded me a lot of Contra, style-wise.
The only complaint I had is that it's a bit difficult to kill enemies when there are only 2 left (took me a while to figure out how to get out of level 1 due to that).
Reminded me a bit of the surfing segments in Ninja Turtles fighting games :)
Could've been nice with a bit more work on the presentation.
This is a great, well polished entry!
I have to agree with TheLastBanana that it doesn't really fit the theme though...
The long dialogue was quite funny - just got a bit long...
Tried to play 3 times, just kept on dying to fast to really figure out what's going on... interesting idea though!
Very nice for a first entry, quite fun!
Agree the movement was a little clunky and that some luck was required (once I started in a twisted little passage with no exit trapped by robots, with no room to kill them).
Nicely done for a first time entry! A fun game - even though it had me cursing the hit detection when walls that I thought would cover me didn't!
The slow moving player was a bit frustrating, but then I can imagine it would be tough to balance movement speed with shot speed considering the mechanics...
Appreciated the humorous one-liners at the bottom of the screen :D
Great looking, but it seemed jerky and slow even on my 2.4GHz quad-core with an NVidia 9600... also agree that the action was a little lacking.
Looks like a good base for fun shooter though, well done!
Wow - great effort for 9 hours!
The throwing was a bit hard - I'm still not quite good enough to get very far...
Interesting idea and great music!! Could be pretty cool if you could implement all your ideas...
It was a bit vague though to figure out, it made more sense now afterwards after reading through the comments... so maybe a tutorial would've been good.
A very nice entry - probably the best-looking I've played so far! I just don't feel it adhered to the theme very well...
The levels got a bit repetitive and boring for me towards the end and I also got stuck in blocks that didn't fall straight down a few times - forcing a R.
Having to set off a big bomb to win reminded me of Carmageddon TDR 2000 :P!
Very cool entry - well done! It's quite innovative, fun and I enjoyed the music.
Very nice, that was quite enjoyable!
I did feel it was a bit more enemies as powerups / tools than as weapons, but it's quite fun and I agree that it has potential.
The colour mixing is a very interesting concept and I think it has potential! The game was also quite atmospheric in the sense that I felt like I was in some weird anime movie - great job on getting such a good looking entry done in the short time-frame!
Unfortunately, I have to agree that the game was quite counterintuitive and hard to pick up and play. It seems largely down to luck whether you can get the right colour droplet, near the right colour walker in such a direction that you can line it up for a shot - so that drains the fun quite a bit.
For me it would've felt better suited to the theme to maybe rather use a mechanic where you eat the droplets to mix up a colour - then fire that colour with a left click of the mouse (clearing you're palette again so you shoot white): gather up the right types of enemies then use them to kill one of the big hitters. That way you would HAVE to use your enemies to damage any enemies other than white ones (where currently you can kill around 30-50% without using enemies). This could also greatly simplify your control scheme from wasd + 4 keys to: wasd + lmb shoot + rmb zooms.
Probably the most atmospheric game I've played so far this compo! I agree that it was a bit too easy and the ending was a bit confusing... got the monster stuck in the corner and then wasn't sure what to do - did get the ending screen eventually after a few minutes .
Overall a very nice effort - well done!
Very nice effort! It feels like there's a potential gem buried in this game - it's just too difficult in its current state to find it (especially with the no viruses on restart bug)...
I keep running out of viruses... I can't figure out a reliable way to get rid of the fast little critters, so they keep on killing me. The help screen was nice, but I feel the game is too fast for the amount of stuff to remember...
I think this could be really nice with a gentler difficulty curve and perhaps a tutorial type approach that introduces enemies / viruses one at a time (oh and music / sound).
Aarrgh, springs!! Eventually got rid of the one on level 3, but was too frustrated by then to get past level 4...
A good effort, control was nice and smooth and the graphics were good enough to do their job of letting us discern different enemy types.
Would've been more interesting if there were interactions between different enemy types, but I couldn't find anything like that up to level 4?
Good fun and very polished - very well done!! Really liked the music too!
Could maybe have used another type of robot or two, but still great. Oh, btw - the game doesn't run in Google Chrome (Unity issue I guess, but made forced me to switch to IE to play - blech).
Awesome fun game!!! It was quite cool towards the end of my play that I seemed to have a choice between just dodging the enemies and letting them mostly destroy themselves versus grabbing them and going berserk trying to kill many with one shot...
Very well done!
Good simple game :) - I agree that it would probably be great on a phone! Well done!
Fun game - great effort! :)
Agree that the lack of diagonal movement became a little annoying after a while.
Very nice - the intro was nice and set the tone very well!
Very nice for a first entry - well done! Good idea, theme and graphics - was just a bit too random and pointless to be fun for me.
Your hacking mechanic is very similar to what I used in my game: your implementation was quite nice in the way that it let the player know when the hacking is working and how far an enemy is from being hacked (I failed on those with my implementation).
Loved it! It took 3 plays to win and even the ones where I lost were fun! After winning I wished for more levels :P
Very nice game for a first entry!
I got stuck on the 4th level and it wasn't enough fun to replay all the levels to get back there, but other than that very good on the graphics, innovation and theme.
A very fun and well polished game - well done!
I gave you some humor points for the super indestructible ship that shrugs of hits from asteroids that would kill millions like water! :P
I marked down a bit on theme adherence: it doesn't really feel like I'm using enemies as weapons, because hitting an asteroid with another doesn't destroy it - especially as the game speeds up I'm just blocking asteroids frantically... there's no real benefit during the latter half of the game to hitting other asteroids.
5 stars for innovation, the flinging mechanic is quite cool! I just had a hard time figuring out which way enemies will fling when I hit them - so marked graphics down a bit for that...
I had to stick with the game for 5 minutes before I started getting the hang of it, but once I did it was quite fun. Community effort was low, but overall a good effort - well done!
Excellent!
Left most things N/A, but gave you good marks for graphics and technical. Does look like it could have been good...
Has potential...
I am using Python too, so I already had Python 2.5 installed, just had to install pyglet to get it running - chipmunk is bundled with the game.
First of all I had a bit of a hard time figuring out how this fits into the theme. I eventually noticed that the snowballs start pushing each other over the cliff once their numbers become sufficient, so I guess an avalanche is a chain reaction of sorts...
Blasting snowballs into the air was fun for a minute or two, but it got old fast. I also noticed that whether I used dynamite or not, didn't affect my score by too much (500-700 vs. 900-1200).
Graphics were nice, the sound was OK and the controls worked well.
Congratulations on finishing something - overall a decent attempt, just a bit lacking in gameplay.
Due to the randomness it was at times a bit more frustrating than fun for me. Also agree with what Hamumu said about the strategy - could just build a few chainers and spam painters. The painters would trigger bombs laid by red in his own area, destroying his area completely - makes it quite easy to win.
While there are chains, the reactions are pretty rare and using the bombers is very suicidal, so the theme link is perhaps a bit tenuous in the Reaction area.
Quite interesting, though - a good effort.
Interesting idea, has potential.
A bit too easy, but very fun and very funny. The music was awesome!
Quite addictive - had to force myself to stop so I can look at some other games. Nice polished look.
Pretty, but not so much fun, probably because it lacked levels (and the few you had were very easy).
Also had a crash after level 4.
Nice concept and the graphical style was an interesting idea.
Nice, I enjoyed it!
Not sure why people are complaining about the
difficulty - finished all the levels in less
than an hour :)
My first thought was also blow up the asteroids; was a bit disappointed when I realized I couldn't ;-) Controls took some getting used to, but fairly fun all the same - well done!
Couldn't run - it crashed python on my machine.
Very nicely polished, but I also found it a bit lacking in fun and the wait between levels was very frustrating.
Overall, good work!
This was a good idea and somewhat fun (could be lots of fun with some tweaking). Also Agree with everybody that said it needs better graphics and maybe a little more variation.
Well done on finishing an entry for your first LD!
PS. I also had some trouble with the controls being a bit unresponsive; especially when the boxes were close and I wanted to quickly fire and detonate some bombs. Specifically I can hold space to drop bombs, but I have to release space, then press control to detonate - would be better if I could just tap space even while dropping bombs.
Didn't find control that bad (less frustrating than the last marble game I played where you had to tilt the whole level along two axes with mouse). However the camera became terrible once you achieved a high speed and started bouncing.
Quite a big spike in difficulty from level 2 to level 3. Level 4 was rather pointless, gave up after a minute, went to get coffee and when I came back it had finished by itself. Perhaps an arrow indicating in which direction the finish area is would help?
Sound and music were nice. The graphics were awesome (wow - you did that in 48 hours!? ;-)).
Could've been really nice if you spent more time on gameplay and less on the shiny shaders...
I kinda enjoyed flying the ship - the physics are realistic making it quite challenging to control.
Didn't quite get where chain reaction came into it - the people at base camp seem to die in droves regardless of what their supply levels are...
Interesting idea, but not much fun as a game. Looks, sounds and controls are good so points there.
Very cool! Got frustrated by being stuck on level 3, but discovered the cheat keys ;-)
Could be great with some more work, hope you create that level pack and tweak the gameplay a bit to make it even better (mainly those homing rockets living too long).
Wow, that was hard, but I managed to finish it eventually.
Enjoyed it! Looks good, sounds good - only thing missing is music.
Agree with everyone that said the fine tuning was a bit of a pain, but it wasn't enough of a pain to make me stop playing.
What Saluk said.
Keep trying! I couldn't even program when I was 12, and by the time I was 16 all I knew was Pascal (and a little assembler to get higher than 16 color graphics).
So many nice easy to use languages like Python and powerful tools available now - all for free! It's a great opportunity. If you keep learning and practicing you'll probably be way better at game development by the time you're 16 than I am now at 24...
Mind numbing...
Awesome game!
Not my kind of game. Good effort though.
Didn't run on my machine: "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."
Doubt if that'll be any help though...
Very nice! Found a way to complete the last level
with just a dropper and a walker to get a score of
-35.3s.
It's a bit easy...
Liked the music and graphics.
Wow, very pretty and extremely hard! Finally managed to survive by shooting less and dodging more.
Got stuck on level 9. Does get a bit frustrating, but well done!
Fun to mess around with even though there's no real gameplay.
Vaguely reminds me of something I played long ago on the MSX, but I'm not sure what it was.
Got stuck on level 2, so I'm leaving theme n/a, can't really see much of the theme in level 1 and 2.
Good first attempt though.
Nice work - had fun finishing all the levels!
Interface was painful, especially when I almost had it right and then had to do my layout all over again.
What Hamumu said - the controls were even worse for me in the updated version.
The .1a zip is empty for me as well.
Awesomely fun and funny! Pity about the theme...
