Could have used a bit more polish, shots were a bit too slow, but the idea is brilliant, congratulations!

Could have used a bit more polish, shots were a bit too slow, but the idea is brilliant, congratulations!
The idea was neat (although without hints it would be a hard)... Kind of reminded me of old Dizzy games... :)
Awesome game! Although I'm not a big fan on Pokemon-type games, this one is an impressive feat for 48 hours... a bit unbalanced, I had to play with Spork the whole time, and creatures with less 10 levels than me would own me constantly... :
Battle music was very neat, got me pumped! :)
The achievement system was ace... my only real complain was the lack of diagonal walking... became tiresome after a bit, specially since you have to move so much around to get the correct angle to hit enemies...
Good job... same "complaints" as the above, but it's a very nice job, specially for a first-timer! :)
Awesome game... love the graphics and the "stealth" feel to it... could lead to something really special with some more bells and whistles and a good storyline... :)
Fun, although I got stuck in level 7 or 8... The backgrounds were gorgeous, how did you do them? Pre-rendered or procedurally generated?
Very good job, found it entertaining...
Wish there were less robots in the beginning, so I could understand better what are the different upgrades, what's their effect, etc...
But really good job on the weapon variations!
Interesting take on the theme! :)
Nice one... it's indeed fun to spin them around... :D
As usual, a brilliant game... :P Hate you, your stuff always looks so much better than mine! :)
The game is well done, although it's bitch hard... : Don't think it suits the theme, though, but even so... it was fun playing! :)
It's simple, yet effective... the difficulty curve could be worked on, and speed of the enemies be tuned down (at least while the player is getting the grip with the controls)...
Really liked you had the trouble of creating a background story (and it was well writen), next time add it in game with scrolling text... :)
Good job on this one... The graphics are amazing... only complaint is that on my screen, I could see offscreen stuff, which was very distracting, always thought an enemy was comming lower than expected, only to have it come high on the screen...
Congratulations!
One of the most enjoyable games I've played so far on the compo... Agree with devinmoore...
Need to be a bit slower, though, I was overwhelmed half the time! :)
Runs a bit too fast here, on Firefox... Doesn't work on IE at all...
The Window is also too small on my TV (I play stuff on the TV, 1920x1080, so it was a bit hard to see the characters). Good exploration of mechanics!
A bit weird (and weird is good)... Was fun the first 3 or 4 levels, then it became tiring...
The musics were awesome, and technically it is impressive (emulation ftw!)...
It ran a bit too fast on my system (not sure if that was meant), and I suck at platforming, but I got to the end of level 1...
The drawback is that the "enemies as weapons" isn't really part of the core gameplay mechanics...
Nice one... graphics were very good, and the gameplay is interesting... could have used a bigger Window, tbh, and not allow the player outside the game area (I beat most of the levels that way)
Couldn't run it even in compatibility mode (Windows 7 64-bit here)
Tried it, it works now... Thanks!
Nice game, just didn't enjoy the movement that much, it was "clunky"... allowing for sliding on walls would have improved the game to no end...
The randomness makes it hard sometimes to accomplish the level...
Well, the idea is nice, but the game is too fast on my PC to play with a keyboard (with a mouse, it might have been doable)...
BTW, where are you from?
Hey! Good to meet a fellow portuguese in the compo! :) I'm from Setúbal! :D
Nice one... Kind of hard to sometimes take the enemy from behind (pun intended!) :)
Didn't know you could do 2d stuff with Unity, need to take another look at it... :)
Same issues as everyone above... and the game is a bit unforgiven... I had a sequence of 4 guys in a row, and then just one bad jump, got stuck and got digested... what I mean is that the game should see into the immediate success and not punish the player so much... just an idea, of course... :)
Very cool... the controls were a bit touchy, and the camera is not too well centered, which means that most of the time I would fall down hoping I would get to another platform, since I couldn't see what lay below...
Couldn't play it, only have Windows available... :(
Agree with L... Most of the time I couldn't make head or tails... contracting/expanding should be faster; I think, for quicker pickups...
Other than that, interesting mechanics! :)
More or less, samel... I've traced over some of Oryx's 8x8 sprites he created for the TIGSource Assemblee competition, and added animations to them. Tracing is allowed on the rules, I just copied pixel by pixel each one (that's why I chose the 8x8 pixel images, easy to copy).
Hum, Cymon, that's actually a very good suggestion... The gems being on the battlefield was just an idea to strategize a bit (i.e. block enemies by killing enemies on a narrow place, and only use that gem if you're really in a pickle).
The invisible gems bug is very weird... It seems to me that it's not invisible at all, but it has selected an invalid gem and the image that appears is the grass tile (that would make it impossible to grab aswell)...
I'll take a look at it when I review the game... Got 4 pages of my notebook full of ideas of stuff that would be cool...
But really like the inventory thing, could be expanded to lots of cool stuff... :)
Thanks for the comments, Alan...
1) The AI in general is quite poor... Been thinking on a way to improve it without cheating, and I've had some ideas, maybe in the future
2) Yeah, since that was a behavior I wanted to remove in the future, I didn't bother checking for that condition
3) The ring shown in the cinematic is always the same color, didn't change it according to the level
4) Got to try that... Usually when I lost it was with lots of enemies, and I didn't have a crash, but I developed the game in Debug mode, which might have made me lose some bugs your guys caught (like the invisible gems thing)
Very good... I'd do it a bit slower and add angles to the trampolines, for that extra difficulty... :)
"I have an MBA" - Priceless... :)
Very cool, have the same complaints as TheLastBanana...
Great graphics!
Had some trouble controlling the fire... most of the time, my mouse wouldn't start a fire, no matter if I pressed it or clicked it... :(
Interesting idea... contrary to jakkarth, I like my side-scrollers to be the other way around (right to left)... :)
Art is very good, although from a technical standpoint, the game slowed down when too many enemies were on screen, which detracted from the gameplay experience
Amazing work! :)
Hum... the ESC thing is weird... But my ESC key wasn't working properly, so I might have screwed up somewhere... Oh well, have to leave that for post-compo version...
The brightness in level 2 is supposed to be low, but on the rest, it should be visible just fine (like in the screenshots above)... it wasn't that what you were seeing? If not, can you send me a screenshot at covenant (you know what's here) shadowcovenant.com?
Found some bugs related to the packaging and final release compilation... should have tested stuff better... not sure if I can update the game now (it's just bug fixes, mainly the lighting issues, the ESC thing and some initialization stuff which makes the game not display anything if the desktop res is different from the game res in fullscreen)... The death might be too slow, I was under that impression, but kept pushing that fix to the very end, and I ended up forgetting it...
Level 4 is kind of brutal in the version you guys have... I packaged the wrong script which leads to less time available on the Hourglass... :\ It should be about 4 times longer (I had two versions of the scripts, my test stuff and my real stuff), you guys ended up with the test script of the hourglass... :\
Couldn't start it... Have XNA and all, it just crashes when I double click it...
Brilliant one! I really, really, really suck at it, but it was brilliant! Gratz man!
I'm terrible at this! :) But excelente work, very minimal and yet fun!
Unfortunately, couldn't play it as well... Just a white screen... Sometimes I would see something, but only when the camera was pointed in some weird way, and it wasn't dependent on the pulse...
Too bad, I really wanted to try this one, seemed like an excelent take on the theme!
Lots of potential on this one, keep at it! :)
I enjoyed this one very much... a lot of fun, with some more stuff this game could be really awesome...
I died too many times for not noticing the hull damage, maybe an alert sound whenn you're down to 25% or so...
Great job!
Very cool, very hard (but that just adds to the flavor, imo)... Really like this, amazing work!
Very cool, blast from the past indeed... level 3 is indeed a bitch! :)
Very nice idea, visuals were excelente, puzzles were nicely done... Gratz!
Good work, controls were perfect!
Awesome idea, very fresh... Graphics were excelente, loved the horse!
I wouldn't cal this exactly a game, just randomly clicking on stuff until something happens... but, that said, I would really love for this to envolve into a Myst-like game, with wireframe graphics... Really loved those! :)
Very nice idea with the story... Puzzles scaled up in difficulty a bit, and they failed when ou did twisty curves in the path to make double width connections...
With the addition of more puzzles, more "event driven" ones, this might actually be a good FTL-like game!
Excelent work... it kind of reminds me of QWOP, but much more fun! Great job!
Deviously difficult! :)
Very nice job... Couldn't find the "good" ending, I think... Other than that, it was excelent! :)
Simple and fun... Good job!
Very cool, a bit too hard from the get go...
Control's could be tweaked to use the mouse, I think (like the mouse acting as an attractor to the big attractor thing)...
Very original!
I thought the game a bit confusing... then I saw the instructions and I got even more confused... :)
Anyway, seems like a good idea, but the controls were a bit stiff.
The idea itself is awesome, hopefully you'll carry on with it!
Very good looking, and a nice idea... Only criticism is that the movement is a bit stiff... More inertia and quicker movement would have made it more fun for me...
Very cool idea, too bad for the lack of levels... :) Good job!
Nice job... I blocked the entrance and they didn't break down the towers, so they just got shot over and over again...
Sometimes I lost the ability of building new towers, don't know why...
Nice job!
I had some issues with the game... everytime a guy would hit me, the game would stall before playing the sound...
Amazing work... never thought you could do something like this with batch files... :)
It's a bit unresponsive and slow... Had some difficulty understanding how to advance in the game...
Great idea... Loved the idea of the texto "Composition Balanced", it's so much better than "Congratulations" or "Success"... :)
Amazing graphics...
Fantastic, I love one-button games, but I'm not creating enough to make one as interesting as this, good job! :)
Good job... I had some issues with the highlights, sometimes when I was looking straight at the object, it wouldn't highlight, I would get back a few steps, then it highlighted... Detracted a bit from my experience, but the rest was very nice, great art-style!
Nice entry, a lot of work there! It had a lot of depth to it, keeping it minimal... Gratz!
Fun little game, gratz!
Great game, lots of fun! Took me 3 tries to actually make it! :)
Didn't know this was possible at all! :) Very cool concept!
Thanks all for the comments:
@TheSambassador: the moving the mouse fast and the particles move slower is due to the fact that they use a formula similar to magnetic fields... So the further the mouse is from the particle, the less attraction they suffer...
Everybody that reported the closing window issue... think it is due to closing the game by using the "cross" icon, I don't think I made code thinking of that (I usually only quit by going to the menu and selecting the option)... Too late to do something about it, but I'll keep an eye out for future entries... :)
Excelent work, although short... Loved it!
Great idea!
Think I ran into a bug... Sometimes, elements that weren't "bridged" would disappear, and other times, elements with a single basic color would get stuck... Hard to select a color when the object is of a single color as well...
But very cool design...
Excelent, really loved this one... Ultimate Angus made me LOL... :)
Loved it! :) The ending at the beginning just made me lol... :)
Very nice, interesting puzzles, and an excelent take on the theme!
Excelent game design, awesome graphics...
The only drawback for me was no full screen mode, and on the UI, the elements you must "catch" should be more clearly separated from the your resources... Good job!
Excelent work, very original, hard as hell! :)
Very ambitious, yet successfull... Congratulations!
Top notch visuals! The attack control was a bit hard getting used to it, and never much fun because of it... Other than that, great job!
Too bad there wasn't more levels, it seemed interesting!
The graphical glitches made it hard to have a good perception of the level...
Awesome work! :)
Very cool idea! Good job!
Amazing atmosphere, but it crashes for me when it says to press space... :(
The art style is stunning!
Brilliant concept, very hard! Looks awesome too!
Very cool and innovative! :)
Very nice, the twist on the concept works... a bit boring after a bit, but it was fun while it lasted!
LOL, I had fun with this one! Graphics are very cool, congratulations!
Have you seen this (or were inspired by this)?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qEfO5iNicI
I liked the idea from the description, but it was not clear what was happening in terms of cave ins...
Wish it had some more stuff to do, but excelent work! Good job!
Good atmosphere... The character was a bit slow for my taste, and puzzle solving when you don't see the outcome immediately gets a bit boring after a bit, but it was a nice game, congrats!
Excelent entry, with some more polish/mechanics, this could be awesome! Nice going!
Nice idea... might not exactly qualify as a game, but as a visual novel it has some nice ideas maybe worth exploring - visual novels are usually so dark and depressing, some "happy" ones might be good to see once in a while!
Very cool, good job! :)
Had some trouble installing the redists, but got it to run... Was a bit hard here, too fast...
Very nice, amazing graphics, just misses a bit of sound!
Amazing graphics, interesting exploration-based gameplay... Only complaint is that the moment is a bit slow, but other than that, all very good... Excelent aesthetics!
Very nice concept, liked the customization!
Very awesome! :) Really liked this one!
A bit too hard, but it was fun while it lasted! Good job!
A bit hard (because of the limited visibility, you can't plan ahead), but it was fun... the "graphic adventure" feel to it was very cool, and I liked the background story idea! Was expecting worse graphics from your description! :)
Good job!
Thought the controls were a bit sticky, and it was overall too dark, but nice work, good twist on the theme!
Very nice! With a bit more polish, this could be an excelente game (although it might have some issues with controls on that platform)
A bit hard, mostly because we don't see where the shots are coming from... The level editor was a fine addition as well!
Very nice, gameplay was sweet, although a bit hard... music is good (speeding up was a nice touch), the only complaint I have is the red texto in the beginning, it hurt my eyes! :)
Awesome gameplay concept, well executed, very polished, one of the best I've seen so far! Congrats!
First one is the hardest, they say! :) Nice twist, converting a "normal" platformer into a narrative game, playing to your strenghts!! Good job!
Nice concept, with some more gameplay/puzzle elements, this could be something special! Congrats!
Extremely difficult, a lot of "leaps of faith", but it was very moody and pretty! Good job!
Looks very good, just lacks audio... Great work!
Very pretty! Good job!
Sharks with laserbeams, lol... :)
Nice concept, but it ramps up too fast, imho... Other than that, graphics were fun as well!
Cool idea, only complaint is that going down is a bit "jaring"...
The controls could be tigher, but it was a nice game! Good job!
The spider animation was very cool, and the audio had very neat touches as well, congrats!
A bit easy because of the smoke thing, but cool nevertheless... Good job!
Funny! :)
Cool concept, hard tought, specially the shooting part... too bad it didn't work fullscreen (some of the text was out of the window as well). Good job!
I didn't understand exactly what I had to do, but I had fun not doing it! :) The idea is very cool, would like to see it completed with some more gameplay mechanisms!
Graphics were awesome!
Some balancing issues... it starts slow... 1 on 1, after 4 rounds I got hit by 4 subs at once!
It reminded me of the old ZX Spectrum classic, high-noon! :)
Good job!
Didn't exactly understand what I was supposed to do, and the camera glitched occasionally and ended up looking weird!
Loved it! The graphics were awesome, and the gameplay was solid.
Only complaint is that the controls could be a little tighter, but very good work nevertheless! :)
