Black Cave by Redbone
Nice looking but a bit boring in the end. Maybe some ominous msic would have set the atmoshpere even more.

Tenoch leaves an average of 25.2 feedback comments each event.
Nice looking but a bit boring in the end. Maybe some ominous msic would have set the atmoshpere even more.
Kewl music and monsters.
The 3d rendering was buggy on linux through wine.
Very cool looks. The gameplay is somewhat limited, however.
Nice polish, but I didn't really enjoy the gameplay. The limited ressources engage the player to try to optimise their use, but there is no way to improve yourself immediately (only by doing the game again). This lack of feedback disapointed me a bit.
Funky line of sight algo, but otherwise cool. I like the story feel to it, and especially the unescapable fate.
Nice style and audio bits. The gameplay is rather basic, but was OK.
Pretty fun. Cool programmer's art.
Very good principle, and mesmerizing soundtrack. Some movements could have been more fluid. Very cool level editor ^^
Interesting concept and cute graphics. Would have deserved more polish though.
Nicely polished, but maybe a bit hard. Couldn't find a good way to balance going a away and saving energy. Plus, it's a real labyrinth there.
Loved the way the lil guy's legs run. tagadatagada...
Theme and innovation -- (looks like you wanted to make a portal game and somehow glued the theme to it)
Technical ++, although i think it's a bit to fast and shaky.
I don't mean bad, but relying on the "wah, portal game, awesome" effect doesn't seem to be enough. Of course, technically it's rather impressive, but I hope people won't take only this into account, if you see what I mean.
Mmm interesting controls, but seemed impossible to beat. And well, could be more polished, but...
No idea how this works... Clicking on stuff just seems to bring the next page, arrows fail.
Weird. I mean, if you like programming, why doing it in effing *powerpoint* ??
Ran very slow on my machine, with all these pixel calculations. Not always sure what's happening, despite the explanation, but it sure looks good, and the sound vibrations were great.
You mention the "not fun" component a lot. I believe it is the hardest part of the compo. Coding is just like solving a problem, but actually getting the ideas that make the game fun... I can't do it.
I suppose it comes with practice. I still salute the effort, and hope you will try again next time!
Might be really simple, I actually enjoyed it much! I liked the litteral interpretation of the theme. A few suggestions:
- the mouse control is a lot easier, but I liked the smooth keyboard control. Maybe removing the mouse?
- difficulty increases too fast. the font could grow more slowly (but you could have bonus points if you go between words instead of around, or instance, for the risk taken)
- it would be nice if the words came from every direction not just top, so both x and y movements would be needed (here it is enough go left and right)
- and of course a bit of polish, music, etc.
Otherwise very nice idea!
Well as you said, rather minimalist. But finishing is winning already.
I really liked the control scheme, and the sprites.
Very well done and polished, but really not original, too bad...
I found too much inertia in the bat, but that might be personal.
Great game mechanics! I enjoyed the challenge and really wanted to win!
Didn't take the music into account, since it's not allowed to use stuff you didn't make during the compo. As for the game it was original but not that interesting. Lacks a winning condition perhaps (stopping the walls by activating a high switch with the ball?).
Mwaha, got a good laugh from that one. And we have a similar concept too :)
Drag and drop was imprecise, but very nice graphics and sound. The game gets a bit boring once you found a winning strategy.
You get my vote for the vector graphics fun :)
Great idea (protected by the obscurity). Would have deserved more content and polish, this is rather small.
Yay, got to 202 rescued! These guys really are dumb, they usually just run to the wall. Awesome scary stomping wall by the way!
Loved the color theme and the sounds. The "negative" wall was a nice idea too. It does get repetitive though.
Heh, funny story and characters. Except the fire it looked great too. I thought it was a bit too difficult first, (only one missed civilan?) but since the game is not long, it didn't matter that much.
Woow, some frantic action there! Not a second to breathe. Scary wall, and difficult traps! Nice tiles. Too hard for me, but still cool, I tried lots of times!
Love the alien ships design. I'm sad that the formations thing didn't make it to the final game though. And i'm not sure what the wall is either.
I like the puzzle feeling, but i couldn't solve it yet either :)
Tough one. Sounds and music would have helped to digest the difficulty. I found the controls too smooth and slow responding.
Stupid bats =)
Mmm that was fun (having all these slug follow you and stuff), but why is it so hard? I usually die before even killing one cube. Then when i come back with the second player's guy, there is a big slaughter zone, but still a bunch of baddies who kill me in an instant... Too bad.
Granted, it gets a food 5.
But... ^^
I'd say there are far too many zombies and not enough potions. I've been very far from ever winning. I like the textmode though.
As they said: you don't get my 5 on overall because of the non following of the theme. Otherwise excellent!
I loved the feeling of getting trapped, when the waters starts to circle you.
Lots of humour, which is nice, but not really challenging game (I'm not too much of a highscore person...).
And textmode? Hurray! Although it's not extremely responsive.
It has a charming Running Man taste, and the intro text sets the mood well.
I liked the jumps through breaking wall.
Well, as you said, levels would be nice. The graphics are super and the music is fine. Very cute lil fella!
Too difficult for me... I love the retro look and feel though. Not extremely original or theme related either.
-1 in graphics for using the non made during compo background.
the rest is fine. maybe collisions are a bit imprecise.
I must über suck, but i keep dying really quickly, losing xp really fast.
Great music.
Never managed to jump on more than two tiles. It seems that you have to land exactly at the middle, which i fail to do, and even sometime it just goes through it anyway... Too bad, it looked good.
No challenge, too bad. But the idea is great and should be used for a bigger game. This is kind of just a proof of concept.
These black things are annoying, and it's hard to see what's up there. Otherwise fun, and nice looking!
Awesome!
I actually found myself playing new games without realising. As I told you in the IRC can, taking over ennemy crossroads is a lot of fun. The game is quite complete, in fact, since it requires strategy and learning, and not just random clicking.
33 tries. But I launched the game a few times too :)
I suck.
LD17 — Islands (43)
I HATE ISLANDS by nitram_cero
Good laughs from this one! The drawings a pretty cool, and the overall idea of personificating islands is interesting.
Also I liked how the copter fired both bombs and bullets for increased rage.
Did you make the music during the compo, though? Ôo
The Lost Hebrides by NiallM
I seemed to have an aiming problem as well. I needed to click far below the guys for it to work.
Otherwise beautiful!
108 seconds of loneliness by Draknek
At first I thought there was nothing to do on the island, just wander around and push boxes, and with the name, I figured it was a case of Prententious Art Game that would make you meditate on isolation...
But once you figure out the goal, it's quite fun. It has a nice sokoban feel, plus interesting mechanisms (streams). And it looks good.
The 4rth level seems undoable though?
Atollery by Cosine
Took a while to figure out controls (left/right click) and despite the explanations, the goald was not clear. Managed the first few levels, but then there seemed to be several solutions, and mine weren't accepted.
Intercontinental Drift by hamburger
Meh? Quite hard, and very annoying music. Mostly I felt like randomly pushing stuff around and see what happened.
Hairgel Quest by ondrew
I appreciate the effort in making this game, and bonus points for that! Fun drawings, humor, etc. We need more graphical adventures.
It was however a bit slow to move and buggy.
NoNameIsland by Sébastien Bernery
It's not really easy to understand what's happening, maybe a more complete explanation of the mechanics would have helped.
Appart from placing a lot of buildings and flags, and wait, is there anything to do? Is there a winning condition?
The little ingame texts are quite funny though.
YOU ARE ISLAND. by SpaceManiac
Meh? What's going on there? :D
Islands: Through the Sweep of Stars by Morre
That would have been nice, turned into a Pretentious Art Game, with some delicate music and a minimum of interactivity (moving a guy around to get clues?) The drawings have a pretty distinctive style, would have like more!
Most of the questions were far too tricky to be answered without cheating. Perhaps basing them only on clues in the images would have been more interesting.
It has some charm though.
Isolated Empire by Daz
Very nice looking and quite complete game. I did suck at it though. Maybe it would be nice to see which zones are being worked at, even when not having the mouse over them.
Monkey Islands by Wiering
Now this is insanely cute, and the music is nice.
But yeah, not a game, really...
Island Repair Man by chrisp
Quite minimalistic but pleasant. Although for very conceptual games like that, a nice athmosphere would help a lot (music and visual effects).
BRAVE ISLAND DIVER by jwaap
Nice realisation and everything, but I really dont get this one oO
Larma and the Missing Island by ShaneHeres
Wow, I'm hypnotised by this one. Played it through.
Amazing visuals and animation. Interesting and unusual gameplay (although doing pretty much anything seemed ok to pass to the next level, I did funny stuff anyway :) ).
However, quite lazy connection to the theme. And did you actually compose/record the music during the compo? Seems unlikely, but if you did, kudos!
The Floor Is Lava by NMcCoy
I like the gameplay and the little funny details. The music is pretty nice too.
The Noah's Ark by desertdweller
Ha, overall gets minimal, but humor maximal grade!
Someone had to do it!
Pirate-Go-Round by tove
I like the bullet patterns and how you can shoot yourself if you want. Graphics are simple but nice.
Not sure why there are 4 fire buttons though. Is there any difference?
Didn't play with someone, but i imagine it could keep us busy for a while.
Napol©on et la punition myst©rieuse ®le du diable by joaquim
Frustratingly hard, probably because of bad physics?
Otherwise I liked the athmosphere, with the looks and sounds.
Simcano by Nora Shishi
Cute art, but what's the goal?
Island Defender by Cooshinator
I love fast and reactive games like this. Simple but efficient. Powerful sounds effects, and nice music.
All good!
Hula Girl HD by philhassey
In a ryhtm game, the music should probably by in tempo with the game...
Once I managed to ignore the music, it was actually quite fun. Got to 82% or so.
Island Shoving by sander
Compilation is fine (Linux), but segfaults at start...
AlienIslands by Colin Allen
The guy was really slow. And the game slightly boring. But looked quite nice. I didn't like too much the very big open space before the boat. Seemed unfinished.
The Naturalist by JMNielly
Cool concept, nice graphics. Physics were a bit off I think. And the lack of proper ending is a bit frustrating.
As they say, try to make it more, it'd be great!
Pleochorism by smn
Quite amazing idea. Got pretty hard very fast, but the athmosphere maked you want to keep going.
Great job!
Poke-Slayer by bulle
Mwahaha, the best laugh! Absolutely charming drawings and sounds, and that crappy-recording non-edited song is just gold!
Thank you so much for this!
Nieuwe Aarde by zorbathut
Very well polished (lacks music perhaps).
Gameplay is a bit confusing at first , and a bit slow afterwards (clicking "work" repetedly). The traveling method was odd (adding lots of boats on the sea like this?)
But you might be able to make a great game out of this.
Island Abduction by jakkarth
I can make a port to Windows tomorrow if you want, it should be quite esay. I'll let you know.
This being said, except if you actually live on a paradisiac island, there's little chance that you could take the background pictures during the compo (or the jungle sounds), thus breaking The Rules.
Too bad, the game itself is fun and quite well realised.
Island Hermit Hop! by pgil
This one got me hooked. The colors and music made the game very poetic and charming. Animation and big pixels too.
The movement is very well balanced, but those darn homing sharks are quite a pain.
Golden by Maple
Nothing really special, but platformer movements worked well.
Pedestrian Voter by cptalbertwesker
Fun sounds. A bit slow perhaps.
SkyLands by Diet Chugg
Great fun! The simplest ideas are sometimes the best.
Never managed to beat the second level though, these rotating ones are nasty. Adn sometimes the collision detection is a bit severe.
But the great music made me want to finish the game!
Island Hopping by Riley Adams
Very nice looking albeit simple. Pretty hard, though, and the first straight line is maybe a bit long, since we die and start over every 3 islands :)
Music is clean but a bit repetitive. Overall quite well polished.
Awesome LifeBoat Game by IK1985
Cool sounds, but the game is a bit boring.
It's not bad, though.
Ultimate Baluga Whale by Overman
Bonus points for "so bad it's good", but minus points for all the rest...
Loneliness by Jordan Magnuson
Ha, I loved it. I half wanted to do something similar. Funny patterns sometimes, and the expected ending.
Music would have been great though.
Tango by shrt
Erm, is that a game? =)
Looks okish though. Minimalistic.
Roller-Derby 20XX: Mega Islands of Awesome by refrag
Sweet! Love the universe, background, graphics, humor, music. Gameplay is a tad annoying sometimes (big leaps of faith that end, well, badly) but otherwise quite smooth and enjoyable.
Yay!
Tiny Armada by Almost
Heh, I'm hooked. Really nice mechanics, and these ennemies are not so easy to beat. I've been playing it for a while now :)
Evil Lair Command by Spiridios
A clicking-frenzy game like this requires mad sounds and visual effects :)
It seems that the difficulty wasn't increasing, so after 200 I got bored.
Could be turned into a fun little game though!
the Traveling Salesman Problem by sirGustav
Oah, the movement is super slow. Too bad the cute graphics didn't extend to the shores.
Eyelands by recursor
Mmm, i agree with the others. Death is swift and mercyless in this game. Funny graphics, but the environment is quite empty. Feels desolated.
Rocket Bike To Space by rik
Wow, tough one, but addictive.
Extreme frustration when jumping over a star, you don't get the checkpoint activated. *Extreme*
Marvelous paletted drawings and psychedelic music!
