Doches
I adore this. I adore that it's in curses. I adore that I can play it over SSH. I adore the fact that it's short, and sweet, and silly.
I'm giving you a ridiculously high graphics score, just because.

I love this. Played it in real text mode for good measure =)
Gameplay is very simple, but it's fun, and it's got charm in spades. I really like the little comments the game give you. "My goodness, you fell asleep!" I picture a crazed and starved hill climber on an unfortunately timed feeding frenzy as monsters walk the earth and the oceans of the world rise, all the while a victorian era gentleman flying above in a balloon or something shouting comments and encouragements at the climber, eventual shock when he dies, followed by stubborn disbelief when he tries to move after death. Wonderful.
Was a little odd with the invisible wall at the left at the start though. There's food past it, but you can't get at it. Also found a bug: the message box doesn't clear on restart, so old messages are overwritten, the end of longer messages getting appended to shorter new ones.
I have no idea what curses is, but you make it sound like I can't run it in windows. So I won't try.
this is a amusing short game, props should be given for the text gfx and it plays well, the "funny" part had its moments (asking for disk 2 and whatnot)
I do have a gripe, the monsters and players background colors are white, which is fine until you end up on the snow covered hill, then even in full screen it becomes easy to loose track (maybe yellow for players / monsters?)
all in all, its a good solid production, its fun (for a little while anyway) and it took some bravery to do
Please make a Windows version, i wanna play ;)
Nice to see a roguelike in LD. As Osgeld mentioned, once you get to the white area it becomes very hard to keep track of where you are. The messages were funny, but having a "funny" command seemed like an odd idea, it would have seemed less artificial if the messages just popped out at random or when eating (a fortune cookie) or something in game rather than the player having to explicitly ask for them.
I loved the feeling of getting trapped, when the waters starts to circle you.
Lots of humour, which is nice, but not really challenging game (I'm not too much of a highscore person...).
And textmode? Hurray! Although it's not extremely responsive.
Alas, normally it's the Windows versions I can't play... Looks cool anyhow =)
Windowss!
This reminded me of Dwarf Fortress, somewhat. :)
