Loved the pixelated graphics. Sometimes you can die if you try to U-turn and hit the keys too fast which is quite annoying.

Loved the pixelated graphics. Sometimes you can die if you try to U-turn and hit the keys too fast which is quite annoying.
Neat idea, but it lacks some sort of indicator to show you're making progress.
Very cool!
One of my favorites. I found waiting for the monsters to move slowed the game down though.
Feels like it could be made into a fun game, but I find it too hard as it is. I only managed to get to level 2 before giving up. Props for recording sheep sounds.
I had no idea what I was supposed to do, and when I clicked on a destination after the move dialogue it crashed. I suppose you're using features new in Python 2.6. I should upgrade one of these days.
It was terribly slow and unresponsive, I had to force quit it as it didn't want to shut down. I couldn't make sense of how to play the game clicking sometimes made blocks disappear and even when the blocks filled the whole screen it went on so there didn't appear to be a lose condition.
Way too unforgiving.
Its quite polished though and the graphics and sound work well together.
Cool game. Looking forward to the next versions.
Better than I expected. The different sounds for better moves was a nice touch.
Cool idea, but the collision detection didn't work, the wall of doom would just go through the character.
I don't know why, but I liked the fact that the wall was a bit messy rather than just a straight black line.
It's very well executed, but it's still a breakout clone.
Yay cake!
Very nice. I respawned in the background once and had to reload the game, but despite that it was very fun. The last boss was tricky, but in a good way.
Kind of fun, but it seemed to have some balancing issues, also you can use walls to block a monster or two at the early levels to get enough time to get a large population and then raise taxes to have pretty much unlimited money for the rest of the game.
The music was quite nice. The fact that it has to be launched in a shell for the highscore should be mentioned in a readme or something.
One of my favorites do far.
The graphics were excellent. The audio wasn't fantastic but it did the job. The blood and damage to the grass left by the walls was a very nice touch. So many different elements to interact with make it a shame there are only 11 levels. Me wants more! :D
The only downside I found was not having a restart button for levels that you obviously lost and have to wait to die and, more importantly, the ones were you can't win but where the crushing walls have left, leaving you stuck :S.
I liked it, but there were big problems with collision detection, I could often fly through walls. Despite that it was a fun game and I felt the graphics, simple as they were, worked really well. I really liked the screen whiting out when the beam got too close. The easter egg beyond the exit was also a nice touch.
Nice story, & the graphical style is very nice too.
Gameplay wasn't that fun though having the traps appear gradually was a nice touch encouraging players to stay around to see what the next trap will do.
Cool concept, but unfortunately it doesn't stay fun very long. The art is quite good.
Cool idea, but it's a bit too easy and the sticky collisions really kill the fun.
Nice audio as well.
Cool plot. As others have said the mid game is somewhat tedious.
It starts off nicely but gets a bit boring rather quickly. Perhaps if there were a victory condition, say a race to finish or something like that, it would be more fun than just "stay alive as long as possible".
Awesome plushy dialogue. I was disappointed there wasn't a boss fight, especially since Evilosaur said his minions were disposable.
Neat, but kind of buggy and the controls aren't very friendly.
The jumping physics were quite weird. I finished it, but only by having the character commit suicide at strategic places.
Despite that it is a pretty neat game.
It has a nice old school look and feel, but without instructions I had no idea what to do or who to play. I tried a few games but gave up on trying to understand it.
Sadly I also only got a grey screen.
Fun game. The highscore makes it quite addictive. :)
no source
Fun little game. Quite difficult, it took me forever to get to the end.
Quite bleak. As mjau said, it's more art than game.
The best I could get was two tokens.
Not really sure what I'm supposed to do, when I collide with squares the bottom number increases and a pleasant sound is heard, when I collide with a rectangle, the top number is increased and an unpleasant sound is heard. If I go too far in either direction I'm alone.
Nice journal and food pictures. The cranberry cookies looked delicious as did the peanut butter and Nutella sandwich. On the other hand I'm not much of a fan of vegan pizza. Perhaps the blackberries with the breakfast cereal could have been supplemented with strawberries, but that's just nitpicking.
Nice graphics, being able to destroy a bunch of stuff and having it leave a mess is nice. I didn't really like the music though and it was too hard for me, I gave up after the saws.
My best score so far is 3662. It's surprisingly fun. I predict it would be incredibly addictive with an online highscore table. I loved the little ghost guy when you crash into the spikes.
Nice to see a roguelike in LD. As Osgeld mentioned, once you get to the white area it becomes very hard to keep track of where you are. The messages were funny, but having a "funny" command seemed like an odd idea, it would have seemed less artificial if the messages just popped out at random or when eating (a fortune cookie) or something in game rather than the player having to explicitly ask for them.
Yay, cake!
Not very challenging, but quite enjoyable nonetheless. As mentioned by others, building walls is a bit too finicky.
It reminds me of agj's entry, it succeeds wonderfully at setting a mood though excellent use of graphics and sound. But I didn't find it to be fun; it seems to be an art-game with too little focus on the game part.
It has a really cool playable menu screen, but there's no game afterwards. :(
As others have said, you should make some levels for a post compo version.
Quite polished and nice visual style, but I felt the game didn't really work as a puzzle, pretty much all the levels could be solved by just putting yellow launch pads underneath the ball when/whereever it got stuck.
Very nice intro and nice graphics. Seemed rather easy but quite fun. There's a bug where you can throw a doughnut off screen and it will draw zombies towards it but not disappear.
The graphics were nice (except for the player). I found the sound rather annoying though. As mentioned before sometimes impossible levels are generated and the fact that the player isn't visible when the game starts is a bit annoying. I also liked the frame.
I survived for 28 seconds by holding the right key down. Not terribly exciting. I liked the way the walls disappeared when the laser crossed them.
Beautiful graphics, nice sound, but off theme and not much fun.
Not much of a challenge, it gets boring way faster than it gets hard.
Interesting game mechanism. The audio works very well so it's a shame it was made out of competition. The graphics are very nice too, especially the waves.
Nifty that it is 3d, but having to start over from the beginning every time you fail is a big turn off. I also found the controls not too intuitive. I got to level 3 before giving up.
Very impressive technically but it lacks polish.
It reminds me a bit of an old game. ;)
Cool game, but it gets way too hard fast. A victory condition would be nice. Nice polish though. :)
Great game, it's a shame it's so short. Players should get bonus points for not using all the pieces. :)
Very impressive technically, but not very fun.
Neat idea and nice graphics but not really fun in the end. Cars falling in the water were rather amusing though.
I'm glad you ported it to OS X, IMO this is the must see game of the competition. Not much to add, the others have already said it all.
Way more addictive than expected. I found the sound quite annoying after a while and the window was too high for my screen. It should probably have some sort of ending other than being bored and having 100 immortal guys that move at 9/10th of the speed of light and too much money to know what to do with.
I'm not sure I can say which part of it is fun but I spend an hour playing it so you're definitely doing something right.
Bonus polish points for the OS X build. However the way the zoom worked (closer as you go faster) seemed opposite of what it should be and made it less fun.
Looks great, but is missing a goal so I didn't find it much fun to play. The falling snow was a nice touch.
Sound is spot on. Very Fzero-y. But it is way too hard, levels are almost trial and error, which makes the delay between losing and the next race starting feel too long. Still quite a cool game.
I seem to randomly lose when I try to play this game. A few times I got to a gas station and a HUD appears but that's rare most of the time the clouds just move for a short while, stop and the game over screen arrives.
Funny, but the score keeps increasing even after you lose and there doesn't seem to be a way to restart after you lose.
Sadly it was too slow on my (rather old) computer. Pretty impressive nonetheless.
Really good looking, but too hard (though something about a glass house and stones springs to mind). Having the screen scroll to keep the player in center would be better I think. Also I couldn't get it to work in wine so had to borrow my sister's laptop. Procedurally generated levels are sweet.
Fun game at first but, it got kind of frustrating pretty fast.
More toy than game. If there had been more levels it could have been ok but it felt like just another physics tech demo.
Really good graphics, but it lacked a proper end. Not a big challenge but quite enjoyable.
I managed to find two endings. It was quite funny to read but not much fun to play.
I couldn't get past the second level, I also found it rather hard to control. The music got quite annoying very fast. The graphics were quite nice and really gigantic from looking at the source.
It's really fun to play with, but it's more of a toy than a game. Also you could get stuck when the top fell offscreen sometimes.
Seemed very buggy, some block configurations seemed to stop the robots forever and the blocks sometimes fell through each other.
A physics game done right. I was sad it was over so soon. Great game.
Cool backstory. The applet didn't want to reset, so I had to refresh the page and race down to the applet before the gods zapped the hero too much.
Very fun. It's a shame it was over so fast.
I thought this was a really impressive looking game. How can so few pixels look so nice? :)
I didn't figure out how to break the tower until after I played and read the comments but I had a self sustaining settlement so I just went to do groceries and had won when I got back.
Fun, but not challenging. It also says "you lose" after the time runs out even after you win.
I think it would have been more fun if the effects of the disasters had been explained beforehand.
The graphics were really nice and sounds were pretty good too. The game wasn't really much fun to play. Bonus humor points for "You can't die, sorry." :D
Fun game with really nice graphics, I like the details, the clouds, the page wallpaper and the little flowers on the platform. :)
Looked like it could have been fun, but it kept crashing before I could figure it out.
I won. Minimalistic game, could be interesting with more levels and objects to interact with. Having to restart the game to try again is quite evil on your part.
I can't decide whether the backwards key is brilliant or really bad. Same for the lack of feedback on victory / failure.
Really fun game. Like others, I think the borders aren't very clear, perhaps they should be thicker.
Insanely hard, +1 humor for the owl graphics.
The graphics were incredible, and I really liked the idea of different unique characters, too bad you didn't make a quick random name generator.
Kind of fun, but it was more of a toy than a game, especially since the challenge mode lacked win logic.
Funny title and instruction screens, cool music, but sadly unplayable.
Awesome graphics, but so punishing, why do you hate us? ;)
Overall fun game. I like it. (not sure I would if the traps worked :P )
Cool game, I liked the ending. I didn't like the music after level 3 or 4, but the ambient sound on the first levels was really nice.
Pretty fun, I didn't have much trouble finishing it, so I guess my demolition strategy was pretty good. As someone else said, the explosion sounds were very nice.
Pretty planes and tower, but not fun with a touchpad. Where's the source?
Good, if rather simple, tower defense game, rather easy, I really enjoyed building tons of casinos for some reason.
Golden chocolate!
Interesting idea, but buggy and not fun to play as it is.
I really liked this game, I wish it would display current effects so you don't go next to one of the monsters and then remember you picked up The Hanged Man. If you continue making it after the contest let us know. Now you can include those public domain tarot images. :)
The graphics and music were nice, but as has been said the controls felt awkward and the music is still playing after I closed the browser window. After getting to the big owl I ran out of ammo so I quit there. It's a shame for the controls because with the neat cutscenes it could have been quite a fun game.
I got a pop-up and then a blank screen. Pressing the arrow keys would bring up vertical lines on occasions. Not sure what is supposed to be happening.
Really nice graphics. I played until wave 21 then got bored and let the monsters kill me. Unfortunately the sound didn't work on my machine (using wine) so I couldn't rate audio.
Nice music, interesting concept but gets boring rather fast. Maybe with more colors it would be more fun.
Nifty music, the gameplay gets rather boring pretty fast.
Pretty cool, but I didn't find it very fun to play.
Arrg, I got it after about half a billion attempts.
The hovering mechanic is a good idea, but too much of the game is missing.
LD15 — Caverns (61)
Caverns by nitram_cero
I found them all :)
Quite fun to play with, but more of a toy than a game really.
Ninja Spelunker by ExciteMike
Quite addictive, I felt compelled to continue until I finished it.
I like that it has an end and there are indicators of just how close you were to finishing so you might as well try again for the 300th time (perhaps playing with a trackpad rather than a mouse makes it harder).
On the other hand I hated the sound.
Finally, having a rather wide variety of different messages when you kill an enemy was a very nice touch.
Cave without Story by Noyb
Letting us shoot stalactites that drop on enemies was a nice touch. :)
Candle by Problem Machine
Cool game mechanic, very nice graphics and audio, but the gameplay is missing.
I'm In A Cave by havchr
The cave is so small
And the monsters are scary
'cause they want my rope
Ascent by Terry
Yay, I escaped the cavern with only 94 deaths. :P
Rex's Cavernous Survival Horror Game Thing by doohan
The blood, gore and dirt particule effects were nice, but overall the game isn't really much fun to play. Also there's doesn't seem to be a way to restart the game.
Into the Pit: The Endless Caverns by mklee
Rather simple gameplay but quite polished entry.
A leaderboard would make it really addictive I think.
Collapse by gimblll
Very fun.
Perhaps coloring the inside of the walls would be nice.
The Walls are Not Cheese by Sparky
The particule effects and digging were very nice.
There isn't much to do though.
Also the displayed area was taller than my screen which is kind of annoying.
Cavern Copter by badlydrawnrod
Shouldn't this be called Canyon Copter?
F = ma by Draknek
I disagree with the other reviews, I think the music and rotating very much add to the game: it's supposed to make you feel dizzy! That's my interpretation anyway.
A bit too hard though.
Cavern Relics by flashkick
The backwards text the gets fixed when you get the power to look back is kind of funny.
Caverns of Adventure by Epitaph64
It has a win condition, but it doesn't have a lose condition.
Too bad you didn't have time to finish it, it has the seeds of a cool little game.
Caves And Bombs by erik
Very fun little game, a little polish and it would be great.
Pushing the gasoline cans around was a bit tedious though especially near walls.
Shelter From the Rain by Doches
Music and sound are really great.
The in game highscore is also a nice touch. Digging into the cave seemed a little buggy as you could easily get stuck. It took me a few tries to realise you had to dig to the lightbulb.
The menu screen is also quite nice.
The tutorial is a bit buggy, it worked the first time and after that it wouldn't reset.
All in all it's a great game.
The Evil Dark Cavern Which Leads Straight To Death by ladybenko
Yay, I rock! :)
The graphics are really nice but the game is really way too short.
Cave Diver by ondrew
It didn't seem to work correctly, the diver moved very slowly and invariably got pinned under one of the rocks that fall at the beginning.
NICE CAVE! by dock
It was fun exploring the cavern, the room with water was especially nice.
The penguin sound was very annoying and the mouse seemed overly sensitive; it would have been nice to be able to play with just the keyboard.
The Killbots of Cavern Station by Gilvado
I didn't like the way you had to move the camera around, but apart from that it's an awesome game. Good job.
Jello Cavern by shanecelis
+1 for using org mode for your todo list. :)
Shame you didn't finish though.
DiggR by drZool
Cool game.
The bombs felt under used though
Cavernous Shooter! by Morre
Pretty difficult on a laptop without a mouse.
Otherwise a very nice entry.
Xue by angrywaffle
The parallaxing background was very nice. It was odd that you could fly over into the "egde of the world". When I did afterwards pressing 'R' didn't return me to the beginning, it just reset my fuel and score but I was still lost in a sea of black.
Moleshroomciraptor by Tenoch
It's possible to get stuck in such a way that you can not finish the level or die and since there's no restart level button that effectively means you have to start over from the beginning.
Cavern Defense by Stoney
Too buggy to be playable.
Super Bean Kid by dstrysnd
Fun but tough game, it took me forever to win.
Cave Miner by Wiering
I collected all the gold I could find but nothing happened. Is there a way to win?
The ladders were tricky to grab on to when jumping.
Cute graphics.
Brinie by sfernald
I managed to win by pressing the capture button when the Brinie was on the net, but I'm not sure what the other buttons do, the first seems to attract the boids and the second seems to put them to sleep.
Overall a confusing game.
Angry Caverns by HybridMind
Neat little game. The music was nice.
The scoreboard is an evil ploy to get us hooked trying to beat each other's scores. We must resist it. :P
The randomness of the critters' movement was a bit annoying when trying to time an attack.
mjau's entry (unfinished) by mjau
I kind of like the static effect in the background.
LoneStranger's Caverns by LoneStranger
Yay Kroz. :D
I won. :)
I wish you'd included an alternative to the numpad for those of us with laptops.
7 hours mini game by Codexus
I won. :)
It's cool that the level editor is in the game. It lacks polish but that's understandable since you made it in only 7 hours.
Grue by sol_hsa
As Cosmologicon mentioned conio.h isn't portable, however I was able to compile it mentally and play it using only my mind!
But I still lost. Maybe I'll try to beat it again later.
Dwarf Caverns by Frimkron
I had to move the gfx directory and the world.dat file to run it (from source).
Started out looking like a great retro entry, but it crashes too much.

Alien Artifact by lexaloffle
I won, but it looks like the guy exploded when he flew off into space. :)
Simple but solid game.
Fake Gold by BlademasterBobo
Very cool game, it sorely lacks polish.
Source is missing.
Sally Spelunker in CAVE EXPLORER by Christine Love
Amusing :)
spooky cavern by pb
I wandered around aimlessly for a while and than it crashed.
Cavern-Ball by prmottajr
I think making a pinball game was a pretty cool idea, but it's a shame you made the table so tiny.
Kung-Fu Kaverns by frosty
Nifty little game.
Minimalist but brilliant all the same.
Token Cavern by CodeJustin
Nice music, but the controls felt a bit odd and I wasn't quite sure what to do.
Miner Distraction by bentosmile
It doesn't seem to work, I just see a page with an ad and a broken applet icon underneath.
Tim Viana's LD15 - Final by thiagocamposviana
It seemed to have performance issues, it would skip quite often.
The controls felt unresponsive, sometimes double jumping wouldn't work.
It was way to hard.
But the music was rather nice.
Cave Bounce by Almost
Cool idea, but it's quite buggy the first time I played when I tried to get the six coins up the left I went through the wall to the "You win" screen. Playing around with it a bit, it seems you can often go trough thin walls.
FallingTown by TFernando
As others have said: cool idea but not very fun.
Kavern Keeper by jarnik
I love this little game, the music is nice, the graphics are very nice and it's just fun to play with.
I wish you could see your minions' health and maybe tell them to drop their shards so you can get a goblin to bring them back, but it's already very nice as it is.
However when the knights are fighting your guys from below you don't seem do any damage.
A CAVE FOR MY BIKINI BABES by bburbank
Odd game.
Are you supposed to get money for killing cops? The instructions seem to suggest otherwise.
Dwarven Rock Smash by Mag Roader
Love the menu screen with the dwarf running after the rock.
Fun little game.
"Life is Guano and Then You Die" by Jacob
Looks cool, but on my computer (OS X) it doesn't seem to accept any keyboard input so the bat just falls to the ground and that's it. :(
Lazor Dentist by io42
Original idea, but as many others I found the controls got in the way, WASD or the arrow keys would probably have been better.
Also, no source.
Mr Monocle And His Marvelous Madcap Underground Race by deps
Brilliant.
I didn't like the fact that Mr Monocle seemed to crash in the walls while he was still at what seemed like a safe distance away, and the music was a bit annoying.
But aside from those quibbles, it's a wonderful game. Funny, polished (the menu screen background was a nice touch as was having a scrolling credits screen), and solid (if not very original) gameplay, five stars.
Cave Flyer (blue) by localcoder
I like the way combat works where you don't kill the enemy directly by hitting him but by pushing him into the walls.
Mole Cave Tactics! by philomory
The controls killed the fun, additionally it seemed quite unstable it crashed twice before I gave up.
Shafted! by recursor
Rather nicely polished :)
Having to use the mouse on the menu screen is annoying though.
Unlike the screenshot, there were no bats flying around. Perhaps this a bug in the OS X version?
Cavern Retreat by SwiftFalcn
Neat idea, but it was buggy, often when I'd leave a screen I'd almost instantly get thrown back to the one I came from which was than filled with water.
The Eternally Grey by ippa
Really cool idea, the intro and messages were nice touches.
However I didn't like the gameplay that much: you never seem to have enough stalactites and they're never at the right place. Also it's frustrating when the miners come in, take three steps and start digging, perhaps minerals should only be available in the middle area.
Celtic Cavern by tnelsond
Kind of fun, but it feels like something is missing. The rainbow health indicator is a nice touch.
Contact Lost by afterthought
Slowness + no way to restart made my give up sooner than I would have liked.
But with a few fixes it could turn into a really cool game.
Refuge by noonat
Very fun.
It would be nice if it told you how many aliens you took down in each chain reaction.
The lighting is great.
Cave Fishter by DrPetter
Confusing at first and then very hard.
I got up to 10 before giving up.
