LD12 — The Tower (16)

6hour game: Part 3 by thedaian

I draw a map of level 3, but it made no sense to me...? Anyway got though by trying out all choices.

Cannon Hates Tower by Sivart13

It's nice to watch the tower crumble after a couple of shots. But I think it fails somehow short on gameplay. Because there was nothing to aim for. Also playing for highscore becomes pointless with endless (?) levels. If the game would have focused more on the scoring might be more fun. Maybe making it a condition to score at least a certain value each level in order to get to the next level. That and a more transparent scoresystem for the player might have made the experience more fun. In my opinion that is. :)

Junktowers by Papper

Winrar! That one was fun. :)
Good level design, nice to see physics used as a part of the gameplay. Though the player sprite was looking a bit dumb. But characters are difficult to animate anyway.

Breaking the Tower by Notch

Wow. That was the best entry for me so far.
Pretty nice graphics and impressive map rotation. The sim part worked pretty well without giving orders to people. The placement of the buildings becomes pretty important. And the option to sell old buildings with just 25% loss of ressources gives the player enough room to adjust to new situations. I found it very addicting and will probably try it again, to get a faster finishing time.

Congratulations for making this in 48hours. :)

Final for “Choke Point” by mikejedw

This is very original and interesting. I really liked the concept in theory. But as it is now it is not enough gameplay. There is no real thread or thing you have to concentrate on. You simply have to click on the sourrounding helicopters and planes. If you redesign and balance the gameplay part though this might become a lot of fun to play.

Interesting that you also came up with the air control tower theme. But still our two entries are completely different. :)

Mr Blocker v1.0 by mariusz

The resuts of the disasters seemed to me completely random, so it was pretty frustrating. Always building fake towers, in hope the disaster pickes this one wasn't fun for me.

However if there were a transparent concept behind the disasters it might have been different...?

Cat Stacker (Final Entry) by lexaloffle

Pretty nice game. I esspecially liked the art style. And since the physics are a bit forgiving, it was fun to play around without every single mistake making the tower crash.

Maybe it would have been fun to also make the cats shape suitable for horizontal placement... ?

WeatherTower – Binary Build Done + Win32 Build! by kutani

Pretty innovative and interesting idea. Unfortunatelly it wasn't much fun to play in this very current state. Mana runs out pretty fast and once your cities get in danger you are nearly helpless because the Mana drops too fast. The concept was very interesting, graphics and gamesetting reminded me at Actraiser. Maybe it would be more rewarding to give the player the chance of beating the forest and seeing the cities expanding themselves. I would really look forward to an after compo version, if you decide to make one. :)

On a technical note: The game crashed one time, but otherwise run flawless and the lightning seemed difficult to aim. Also clicking at two nearby clouds often made both vanish.

Up! by keeyai

I can totally see this as a fun 2 player game. on- or offline. But as it is now it still has some flaws: Not enough time to build a solid tower and pretty random aiming. A after compo version might be interesting.

Darn, I didn’t make it so guests could download… by demize

Like others said it is not pretty visible when you lose or win, or why it resets. After reading the instructions here, there wasn't much of a game behind that. Maybe more levels with different elements and a transparent win/lose might have improved it.

As good as it gets by gjuggler

nice interpretion of the theme and also a solid graphics style. But as others mentioned before, it is still too sandboxy too be really enjoyed as a game.

Purple Reign – A love letter to awesome games by Fiona

Really great atmosphere and a very polished game. But the way it is now, it was somehow missing something in gameplay. Anyway it looked pretty promising, so I hope you keep working on it. :)

BTW: I had a bug once, while entering a room from the backdoor for the first time. The room kept dark I had to enter the room from the other side that I could see it.

Balkor FINAL [Platform independant] by Daz

Very nice setting. I would have liked it if your game would have focused more on puzzles/exploring or strategy instead of only action. Because the action itself was pretty slow and the controls were pretty unintuitive. Also the tutorial should be skipable. But anyway I liked the atmosphere and the fact that you had different musics in it.

Covenant – Brick Tower by Covenant

Nice concept. The game was quite challenging at the beginning. After developing a strategy to avoid ending in a deadend, it becomes a bit repetitive. And it is very unforgiving!! As one chain reaction can destroy a lot of your building. plus you may end up short on blocks making it pointless to continue. If you'd enhance the controls and the way the blocks fall it might become an interesting game. Maybe follow a more transparent pattern where the next block is going to fall, or make them Tetris-like.(?)

Towlr – 2 Hour Game by PoV

Took me a lot of tries, with exiting the game more then 20)
Really evil how touching the left screen makes you also respawn. Helped a lot in distracting me from the real goal.
