Pretty good. I didn't understand why it was zooming in the faster I went, rather than zooming out. It made it very difficult to play at that point.
I quite liked the innovation of the zooming/speed mechanism. However, the camera needs to be a little less jerky when it gets closer up, I think. Pleasant graphics.
I can't get the windows build to do anything other than show a 0 and a coin in the top left corner of a black window.
Edit: I tried the OS X build on my 10.4 Intel imac, and it wouldn't launch, putting the following in the console output:
/Users/erik/Desktop/DoctorTease.app/Contents/Resources/Main.rb:1:in `require': No such file to load -- rubygems (LoadError)
from /Users/erik/Desktop/DoctorTease.app/Contents/Resources/Main.rb:1
I'm just not having any luck running your game.
I get the zoom-in when you speed up, to make it hard... but yuck. It would indeed be a lot more fun the other way around! Playing it felt really arbitrary, with the evil red bikers randomly deciding to slam into me, and however fast or slow I went, I didn't have much choice in whether than happened. Too slow and I can't escape, too fast and I can't see them coming. Maybe there's a middle ground, but it didn't feel like it. Interesting and weird.
Bonus polish points for the OS X build. However the way the zoom worked (closer as you go faster) seemed opposite of what it should be and made it less fun.
not very fun, seemed very slow on my computer. Didn't know why it would turn black sometimes. Took me awhile to figure out I had to turn by pressing the direction of the road instead of just right or left. Graphics were nice.
worky after downloading the update. fail. failfailfail. failfailfailfail. frustrating. =)
i think i would like this a lot more if you flipped the zoom in / zoom out thing-- I like the acceleration of the actual transition but having it be backwards is very irritating for avoiding the other red-player-stick-thing. It is nice to see another gosu / ruby user and I look forward to peeking at your code.. ;)
I guess I'll rate it above its average because I saw that there's a lot of work in the (good) map generator and that it's supposed to be against racing around like mad. Take a pause and view the big picture! etc. ;) There probably should be a readme that tells people about stuff like that.
Yes, it should zoom out when you speed up rather than zooming in. Nice psuedo-pacman idea. Could be really fun with a few tweaks, but it lacks that factor to keep me playing at the moment.
