LD15 — Caverns (90)

Bunker by jazmeister

Lemmings + Minesweeper is a great description of this. I normally don't like these types of puzzle games, but I really liked this one. Watching the little guys run around made the whole thing a lot more fun, especially when they got themselves in trouble. The random elements of bombs and minesweeper-esque caves was very cool. The time delay on digging was wayyy too slow and I almost quit multiple times because I was bored of waiting for it.

Byte Vs. GNOME by Henry McLaughlin

Game was a bit too zoomed in for me. Not being able to aim with the mouse meant that I was constantly running as far away as I could, then running towards the enemy while shooting for a few seconds, rinse repeat. Would have been a lot more fun if I could walk backwards and aim+shoot with the mouse.

Caverns by nitram_cero

Aww they're ADORABLE! Haha. Love the critters. The sound is amazing in this, great job with it. I like the concept a lot, but I couldn't get into it. I couldn't get an investment in the creatures... I guess I didn't feel like they were doing enough in the world for me to care. If there is a way to make them interact with the world or each other more, I wasn't able to find it... and wish I could have. :(

Ninja Spelunker by ExciteMike

FIVE ON COMMUNITY FOR INTERNET FIST BUMP ALONE!

Really fun! Great visuals, creative idea. It reminded me of that old GRIN game Ballistics.

I found the slow pace at the starting of the level to be frustrating. I would have liked to be able to opt in to running faster. A limited use jump would be cool, too, for those cases when you realize at the last minute you're about to slam into something.

The dinging sound really bothered me.

Cave Ninja by jolle

Awesome game... brings back memories of Scorched Earth.

Cave without Story by Noyb

Feels really solid, despite it's simplicity. I liked being able to shoot the spikes, but the quake effect after the fell was so extreme that it kind of nulled out the usefulness of it.

Candle by Problem Machine

Beautiful, beautiful game. Love the main character and his animations. By far the best art I've seen out of LD15 so far. Great job. Unfortunately, although the gameplay is fun, it begins feeling pointless after a while due to the lack of an overall goal.

Black Cave by Redbone

Download isn't working. ;_;

Glaucon and the Cave by athanazio

Given the fact that you die instantly on touch, the zoomed in view was definitely frustrating. Some in-game help would be useful as well. I mostly stumbled around until I figured out things like shooting. Shooting didn't seem to work right for me... I would kill the zombie in my way and he would instantly appear in the same place again.

Ascent by Terry

Impressive, especially for 1 day. Thank god for the checkpoint flags. :) The air movement felt a bit too fast for me... I was constantly overshooting things.

Adrift by Jpfed

Great music, gameplay was pretty fun. Some sounds would have been nice, and it was far too easy to get lost in the levels, so a minimap of some sort or more landmarks might have helped.

Caverns of Light by NiallM

I like the game. Great sound, and the gameplay is pretty fun. Lighting up the world is cool. :)

However, I really think that this is a game that would have benefited from unlimited lives, a la Knytt. Lives might be okay if you at least had checkpoints, but as it is, it's far too easy to die due to the twitchiness of the jumping, or the (rather unfair, IMO) placement of roof spikes in places. Once you make one mistake, you have to trudge through the whole level again, during which time you are likely to make more mistakes.

Dying and having to restart completely is very frustrating in this game, given the amount of work you have to go through setting up lights.

Slowing down the jumping speed a bit would also improve the game a ton. It can be really hard to precisely place a light or jump over a trap as it is.

Cavern Diver by hroon

Once I figured out that I WASN'T supposed to shoot the barrels, things got more fun. :) You should edit your entry and put those instructions here, I didn't realize it until I looked at your blog posts after playing for a few minutes.

So much is good about this game... music, sounds, and the visual look of it is awesome. Also... MONOCLE. The intro was awesome.

Gameplay is actually pretty fun once I realized I was just supposed to be dodging. I still couldn't figure out how to beat the level, though.

It would be more fun if you had a way to ... un-toxify things again. It's kind of pointless once you start getting hurt. Also, the background effect is quite cool but I think it was one of the things that most confused the gameplay for me. It doesn't look like you're moving downward at all because the background is static, so I thought people were shooting barrels up at me or something.

Into the Pit: The Endless Caverns by mklee

Haha, I didn't realize on my first play through that I could kill the bats. I had SOO MANY of them chasing me. I beat the crap out of them the second time through, though. Juggling is way too much fun. :)

Collapse by gimblll

Really, really cool idea.

The Walls are Not Cheese by Sparky

BWAHAHA! I love digging. DIE WALLS! :)

Unfortunately there's not much game here, despite the potential. :(

Cave Mushrooms by sf17k

Awesome visuals. Way too hard to actual hit things with the projectiles... mostly had to resort to just spamming the whole vicinity and crossing my fingers.

Cavern Copter by badlydrawnrod

SCIENCE MUST BE SAVED! Backstory, woot!

Unfortunately the controls were a bit too difficulty for me... copter seemed to over-swing a bit, and combined with only getting one try per run, made it really really hard to finish.

F = ma by Draknek

Ditto Kobel and DrPetter's comments. Making this a one-click game would be a vast improvement and would probably make it a lot of fun. As it was, I instantly got dizzy and had to stop playing.

Cavern Relics by flashkick

I couldn't figure out how to get out of the first area. :( The music loop was way too short. I liked the creativity of the powerups though.

Rock Warrior by tonic

Nice idea using the circles for the environment. It worked really well. The shine on the gold pieces was also nice, and I like that you changed the color of the pixels nearby the gold to hint at it.

The collision was slightly annoying... the game is built around pushing into things, but the collision response was constantly shooting me away from the surface.

greencow-LD15 by greencow

Good idea for a puzzle game, but like others have said, very buggy in its compo form. With some fixing up, it could be quite good, I think!

Shelter From the Rain by Doches

I liked the setting, the art, and the sound. the concept was really good. However, I was annoying by the controls (pressing up and down over and over). The lack of a distinct button for digging was frustrating; I was forever destroying my tunnels and making my food unreachable on accident when trying to move through my shelter.

A Matter Of Life Or Death At The Caverns Of Deep And Dark by ragnor

RAWR! WINDOWS PORT!

below the house by dessgeega

Haha, damnit, I jumped! The messages were a really great idea. I wasn't very invested at first, but the more I read, the more I wanted to read the rest. Loved it. The movement was a bit twitchy for me, and I found it hard to jump where I wanted to.

caveskid by allefant

It does feel somewhat unfinished, but hey -- it had a win condition and a lose condition, and the controls felt really solid. Also, kudos for using 3D stuff in Flash.

Eternal Seeker: Fugue in the Caverns of Doom by Comtemno

Any game where the first choice is GENTLEMAN ASSASSIN has got my vote.

Loved the game narration during gameplay. Music was a great touch. I died rather quickly, but it's a roguelike so that is expected I guess. :) I wish you had done some graphics for the enemies and items instead of text... but it's a roguelike, so that is expected I guess. :(

Excavatorrr by Hempuli

Haha, sweet. :D It feels like I'm on my Atari XE. Great job with the retro style.

NICE CAVE! by dock

Awesome art, loved the sounds and the dialog text. Poor polar bear. :( Haha. Lack of up/down on the mouselook was frustrating, would have preferred keyboard if mouse doesn't have up/down. Also, mouse not being locked to window meant I kept accidentally clicking on things outside of the game.

The Killbots of Cavern Station by Gilvado

This is friggin awesome. The graphics don't do it justice. I love the movement and cover logic you've given the guys. Really fun to try to flank the enemies.

DiggR by drZool

Flooding = fun. I love mashing down a wall and then frantically running to throw a bomb to cut off the flow. Swimming animation for the dwarf is great. :)

Cavernous Shooter! by Morre

Fun. SPLOSIONS!

Sufi by gadlor

Music was good, and it looked like you had a good concept. However, it fell apart in excecution for me, though. :(

Player didn't feel like he was moving fast enough compared to how high he jumps, and it wasn't clear to me what I was supposed to be doing most of the game. Creatures moved very fast considering how little you could see in front of you, and the attack was really difficult to hit things with.

Wagon Race by graner

Could have been good, but the levels just aren't long enough. :( That said, everything *works*, which is good. With better levels and more hazards along the tracks, it could be great!

Cave of Peril by Entar

I loved the tension of this, and great job with the graphics and sound. Not being able to strafe while running forward was really frustrating. The ceiling traps felt really cheap -- you spend the whole time looking down to run and jump, and you just don't see the traps up above.

Cevern0048 by Sophie Houlden

Wonderful animations. Really solid game. Very impressive.

Spaceship in a Cave by jovoc

Doh, I see what you mean by incomplete. :) That said, the movement felt good. Dying instantly sucks for a game with persistent velocities like this, though. Voted on what categories I thought were relevant, left n/a on the rest.

Cavern Defense by Stoney

I didn't run into the movement bug at all, but I did run into the attack bug. Kind of frustrating. :( It would have been nice if units couldn't move into each other... wasted a few turns doing that.

Super Bean Kid by dstrysnd

Great presentation, awesome music. Loved the graphics. Collision + death felt a bit cheap to me... many times I died and it didn't even look like I was touching the enemy.

Cave Miner by Wiering

Ditto the other comments. Great art, great controls, but lack of win conditions or sound hurts the score. :( It would be nice if you could hold down the up button while jumping to grab onto a ladder, instead of having to tap it when you're over the ladder.

Moons Of Subterrane by stuckie

Not sure if it's running too fast on my machine, but the physics are SUPER bouncy for me. Whenever I get hit by a monster I get knocked 1 or 2 screens to the side, and usually get hurt by careening into the wall. For a game that is so much about precision this is particularly frustrating.

Audio was had way too much static for me.

I'm a sucker for space games though... would love to see this polished up more.

Cavern Pong by phren

Honestly, isn't PhysX a bit overkill for a pong game? ;)

Nice effort... unfortunately in it's unfinished state it's not very fun. Ball went off the side of the screen and never respawned. :( Also, the paddles can fly off the edges of the screen.

The obstructions were an interesting twist, but they ended up mostly making the ball bounce around for a long time leaving the paddles with nothing to do.

Cavern Ghost by sgstair

Great rendering. I liked the feel of it overall. Just wish there was a bit more of a game there. :(

Cavern Escape by psnake

Windowwws!

Lava Caverns of Doom by bluescrn

FRIED! Nice job. Animation was great, and the player movement felt really solid.

The Caverns of WIll-o' by Lerc

i can has windows port?

Treacherous Caverns by eugman

Liked the idea behind it, and always good to see someone doing something non-standard for LD, but unfortunately this just doesn't work unless you have people to play with... which I didn't. :(

Cavern Greed by LunarCrisis

Advancing wall of dooooom! This was quite fun. I could see it being very competitive if you had leaderboards.

Grue by sol_hsa

I laughed out loud. TWICE.

Alien Artifact by lexaloffle

Oh man, I busted up laughing the first time I saw the dead astronaut sprite.

Steampunk Cavern Crawl Into the Darkness by Kimau

<3 the little guy's sprite. Unfortunately I couldn't find much gameplay here. :(

Cave Dangerous by fydo

Cave miner sprite is hilarious. Wish you had had time to finish the game, the concept was quite cool and I was really enjoying it. Lack of bomb explosion + sound was a bit of a let down. Jumping was a bit extreme.

Fake Gold by BlademasterBobo

Awesome, awesome idea. It was like a crazy blend of Pac-Man, a Tron lightcycle game, and Turtle. REALLY cool. I would love to see a polished-up post-compo version.

Burrow by Incendia

Level 7, 409 seconds, score of 45470, 41 gems collected. It was fun to search for stuff by digging. The time pressure added a lot. Unfortunately by level 7 the time was near impossible. There didn't seem to be much of a challenge because the blocks regenerated... this would probably be more fun if you had to be scared that you would destroy your path to get somewhere. As it was, once I got the gold pickaxe I was just going left and right across the screen destroying everything looking for things. (That WAS pretty fun, though. :)

Sally Spelunker in CAVE EXPLORER by Christine Love

¬_¬

Cave Explorer by adam_smasher

Very cool. Loved the sounds, I agree that they were very musical. The comments were a great touch. There were a lot of subtle elements in this that made it great -- like backtracking and suddenly realizing you're totally lost.

Polluted Caverns by astrofra

Beautiful game. Really nice job on the art and rendering. The gameplay all worked as expected for me, and the game ran great. It's really a shame there aren't more levels. :(

There was a slight bug with the mouse that made it kind of frustrating -- it thought the in-game cursor was higher than my actual mouse was, so clicking was a bit weird.

Some simple sound effects would also help a lot. (sfxr!)

XOUT by X-0ut

Nice animation. I liked the world, and it seemed like you got a large amount of it fleshed out. The movement physics ended up killing it for me: I was constantly falling off of ledges when trying to go to the edge and jump, and I kept falling off of walls trying to press away from the wall and jump (pretty standard for wall jumping I think?). His jump was also frustratingly short and I was constantly falling down into holes that I couldn't quite get back out of.

spooky cavern by pb

For people that can't figure out how to get it to run: drag the spooky_cavern.love folder onto love.exe.

Doh. I got warped into a wall and was stuck. :( Agreed, it's kind of monotonous... is there a way to win?

Crystal Cave by BenHem

Kudos on using Processing!

Feels very polished, very complete. Everything looks and sounds great. Loved the sound, LOVED the music. The graphical style, while simple, was appealing in its minimalism.

My only complaint is that it's a bit hard to tell how far away from the pillars you are. I was constantly running into them when I thought I still had room to maneuver.

Cavern-Ball by prmottajr

Seriously: make an exe. :) love2d loves to make exes for you, see this page: http://www.love2d.org/docs/GameDistribution.html

Sound worked fine for me. Great job getting a full gameplay flow in there -- menus, scoring, loss condition. However, the small level and lack of a win condition makes it feel a bit pointless. What makes pinball great is a big level, or at least multiple levels that high scores allow you to progress to.

Clocksey and the Cavern by ajdef3

The snail pulling into his shell for the double jump was inspired. This game was way too hard... I really wanted to see the ending after YMM commented on it but I had to quit or I was going to die from the frustration.

Lurking. by Six

Creeeepy! I jumped when I turned and saw the monster running at me.

Miner Distraction by bentosmile

Very pretty. I loved the menu screen. The player's animations look great, too. I really liked the way the level subtly changed colors as you got deeper into it.

This really needed sounds... it would have helped the atmosphere so much. Also: pickaxe?! I want to use the one on the menu screen. :(

Broken Cave Robot by YMM

Great game. Loved the music, loved the dialogue with the player, loved the retro graphics. I thought the manual map was a bit much, though.

c4v3rnz by nullsquared

Loved the smileys. :D

Cave Bounce by Almost

Very cool concept. Loved using the switch to block rockets. The high gravity combined with the mostly vertical jumps made it pretty frustrating for me. The third screen was the least frustrating for me.

Kavern Keeper by jarnik

LOVE the art style and character proportions.

They Come From The Cave by Objelisks

I liked the atmosphere for this, and it was pretty fun running through guys once I figured out what was going on. The particle effect when you killed an enemy was cool.

The shooting was pretty much useless because everything was too small and/or took too many shots. The bullet velocity didn't scale well, so I was often moving faster than the bullets I was shooting. The powerups spawning in the base seemed counter-intuitive since the only way to save my base was to leave the base.

Also... "Jimmy"? Really? :P

A CAVE FOR MY BIKINI BABES by bburbank

The sounds were messed up for me on the Flash version somehow. :( Loved the art though.

Dwarven Rock Smash by Mag Roader

So much fun. I love the little touches, like the animation for diving downwards. The dwarf chasing the rock in the menus made me laugh out loud.

My only complaint is that horizontal movement feels really sluggish sometimes, and can be frustrating.

Awesome game!

Roundabout RandaBat by Fifth

Great presentation. Loved the swooping animation, awesome sounds and music. The level art wasn't pretty, and I wish you had done some actual levels instead of randomly generated ones... it feels like it could be really, really fun with designed levels. The flashy things seemed unnecessary.

Coffee Caverns by caseyd

Haha, surprisingly fun. :D It gets hectic when the beans really start pouring. It would have been interesting if the rocks bounced and you could jump.

cavern.laser.bat by mattdev

You know, I have one simple request... and that is to have bats with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads!

Oh wait... you did that. :D

Funny idea, but the movement was waaaayyy to hard. It was hard enough for me to move through the level without crashing before I figured out I also had to laser things into crispy oblivion.

Sim Cavern by Parthon

The worm animation is great. :) I played with this for quite a while actually... I was trying to get them to dig out "HI" so I could take a screenshot. Butttt... they all wandered off to eat. :P

"Life is Guano and Then You Die" by Jacob

Haha, love the title. I liked the game concept, but the controls ruined it for me. It would be a lot more fun if I could actually land and the only things that killed me were the miners.

Cavern of Damned by bugra

Windows 7 machine, unfortunately. :( Won't run for me.

Lazor Dentist by io42

Good lord what is this guy eating?! Can we just give him some dentures and stop risking our dental personnel to his gnashing teeth? :D

Mole Cave Tactics! by philomory

The game itself seems like it could be fun, but honestly the interface just killed it for me. Having to move between clicking on the playfield and clicking on the items on the sidebar every time was just too much work...

YACF (Yet Another Cave Flyer) by peder2tm

Ditto Endurion's comments. I rather liked the style of the cave walls, and I wished the ship fit the style a bit more. High score would be nice for singleplayer.

The Eternally Grey by ippa

Atmosphere was great, ambient sound was very fitting. Loved the concept. The distance between the roof and the floor made it really hard to judge whether or not the spikes were going to hit them.

Heart of Gold by L

Pretty sweet idea, but the rotation makes it really really hard to move without hitting things. I found it kind of unplayable, as much as I wanted to like it. I really liked the art, though.

Beacon by ChevyRay

Amazing job. Great concept. Loved running from light to light, under pressure... felt a lot like running the flag in a CTF game with defender chasing after you. Agreed that the compo build was crazy hard in the later levels... I almost quit several times but muscled through it. Worth it all for the ending! Wonderful, subtle sounds in this game, too.

Cavern Pellet Eater Creatures by jplur

Loved the sound, great art. The gameplay idea was also really cool, and I did okay with it.

However, it was kind of frustrating to start out getting my monsters hit by the wrong pellets without having any chance to setup. A planning period might have helped (maybe while the trucks are backing up to dump, you can setup things).

Also, it wasn't clear what the win condition was, and it was also not clear whether you won or lost when the level changes.

Overall: really good, and some slight tweaks could make it awesome!

mine by zacaj

Windows 7 here... doesn't actually crash but just hangs and stops responding. :(

Caverns of Venus by Endurion

Nice! 3 for 3. This reminded me of Exile for the Amiga, which is a great thing to remind me of. :) I would love to see a more polished version of it.

Contact Lost by afterthought

WATCH THOSE CORNERS! OH GOD MY SPLEEN!

Tentacle by owendeery

Great gameplay concept. Loved the menu art and the bats gnawing at the tentacle.

Grav Cavern by Tange

Yeah... that's the downside of Panda3D. Simple games are friggin enormous downloads for it. I'd recommend using something smaller like Pyglet for future games.

Cave Fishter by DrPetter

GREAT music and sounds. I think I would have liked the gameplay if it weren't for the movement. Friction would have made it easier, but could have compensated for it with more hazards.

LD14 — Advancing Wall of Doom (70)

Humpty Doompty! by yoyo

Hahaha, hilarious nog movement. :D Loved it. The game is surprisingly addictive. Trying to find a balance between nog and buzz is fun, but the eggbeaters seemed like a bit much without a way to heal myself. I've been playing for a while and still haven't managed to win.

PET THAT KITTEN! by YourNakedUncle

Like the graphics in this, and the gameplay was pretty fun. The collision on the wall was a bit big, and combined with the one-hit-one-kill the game was pretty unforgiving. I could see it being really fun with a bit more variety to the wall movement (e.g. charges at you once in a while) and the map.

The Dark at the End of the Tunnel by Xopods

Great game... I think I spent more time playing this than anything else. I would give it a five if not for the bugs in the compo version. The post compo version feels way better, although the movement still feels weird (is it making me wait while all the other monsters move?).

“You First” by winferno

No Windows? :(

Save the Sheep by Wiering

Little too hard for my liking... I wish the sheep ran on their own once I opened a path. A lot of times I would get a path open then accidentally block it off when pushing a sheep. It could be cool to focus more on just blocking lava and throwing slow sheep around to give them enough time to escape.

Cat Protector! by viblo

Hilarious idea. Also: cats. ='.'=

Tsunami Warrior by tonic

Interesting idea, but it was way too easy for me.

extreMine by tommo

Interesting idea, but it didn't seem to play well for me. I have never been terribly quick at minesweeper, but I could figure it out given enough time, and adding the time pressure to it just ruined it for me. :( Kudos on the polished end product, though!

arcticum by Tenoch

Concept was great, and the ice destruction was really cool. But gameplay was a bit slow and I was never able to actually die without trying to. That said... fireball barrages are fun. :D

Unnamed Entry by TenjouUtena

There just isn't enough gameplay here to make it compelling, and I'm not seeing much of the theme in what there is. :(

Ludum Dare #14 by telaviv

I thought it was an excellent play on the theme, and the gameplay is relaxing... just needs more work! The gameplay just isn't quite finished enough in this version.

superflat’s Balls Of Legend [Mac / PC] by superflat

GREAT job on this. Feels really polished. I like the gameplay a lot, but I felt that the way the ball bounced was frustrating. I figured out how to control it, but it never quite felt like it was going where I wanted to, and I would often bump into walls because of it. It probably would have still felt hard but less frustrating if I could have rolled around, and only jumped when I wanted to (for speed or whatever).

By Touching It With Your Spikes by Super-Dot

Controls were an interesting idea but I found them frustrating since I couldn't slide along collisions.

Save Those People! by Strong

Funny... but so so painful.

Run Away Little Bouncies by Srekel

I was able to run it, and understood the concept, but I found it hard to play. The physics were weird and the ship would move down slowly as I moved to the right, and would bounce strangely when I hit things. I think the concept would have worked better with simpler, more predictable, traditional platformer physics.

We Control the Purple Creature by Sparky

Great game. I'm rating on the compo version but here's feedback on the post-compo one, as it's vastly improved...

The intro levels did a good job of helping me learn, but I was still a bit confused for a while as I couldn't easily read the menu help and skipped it. In game text pointing at things and telling me what they were might help.

The gameplay is pretty fun. I wish the enemy were smart enough to try to gang up on some of my spawners. I felt overpowered most of the time.

It's WAY easier to see what's going on in the post-compo releases, but I have to say I miss the aspect of not being able to see what's going on inside of an enemy tile. It gave a good sense of danger in the original.

Hope you keep working on it, it has a ton of potential!

sekhar by sinoth

I thought the idea was neat, and liked the graphical effect of the cubes, especially the way they changed at the end.

However, I could never manage to get more than 3 orbs. The ones in the snake seemed unreachable to me. The chaos of it all meant that most of the game was filled with me unable to figure out what was going on and just sitting somewhere until the orb worked itself over to me.

The ship itself felt unfinished, and really could have used some hud elements to make it look like a cockpit or something.

Finalized the wall by jhauberg

Nice take on the theme, loved seen a turned based game in here! The ranged guys were definitely overpowered, it felt like a waste to produce anyone else. Decreasing their range + increasing the capabilities of the other units would have made it more interesting, I think.

Peak by shaktool

Interesting. I'm a fan of this type of thing but this one felt kind of unbalanced... everyone was so hungry that they always ate themselves into oblivion. Survival is about pure luck of the random spawn and how fast you can take out the yellows, then you have to leave it on wander forever and just cross your fingers. Would have enjoyed it more if there were more strategy involved...

DoomDrive by sf17k

Love diving the vehicle and doing Dukes of Hazzard jumps. Wall was done nicely, and I liked the camera shake and noise effects from it. Game got boring for me after 1 or 2 runs, without scoring or objectives.

Mind Wall by SethR

So awesome. Very polished, and really fun.

For the first 4-5 tries on a new shape it would be really difficult to see the pattern in time... then something would click in my head and suddenly I would see it every time. Really weird, mind bending, and cool.

I want to play mooore! :D

Wall by secret_knitter

Unable to run on Python 2.6, XP.

rollbak_LD14_BlackHoleComing.zip by lucasshrew

Cool idea, pretty fun. You should add score to it! :D Doesn't really seem to follow the theme to me, though.

Wall Wrecker by robot_guy

Game was a bit too slow for me -- the fact that a ton of blocks appeared when I died didn't help. Good use of the theme, but made the level seem like I was sliding backwards away from my goal instead of making progress. Faster movement of the ball and/or multiple balls at once could have made it more interesting.

The Hotel Advance by Redbone

I couldn't get past the stage with the two ladders. :( I liked what I played though. Jumping felt good. Music worked well on the menus but the music in game was too repetitive.

Mines of DOOM by Osgeld

Good stuffs. Liked the gameplay, but the fire felt cheap since it just followed me. Wish it would have spread out and flood filled the side passages.

Wall of Locust by ondrew

Good concept, and nice graphics. As others have said, the interface could use work. I found controlling the fire to be kind of weird because the speed it spreads and dies is a bit unpredictable.

Typo of Doom by olberg

Yay, top 3! Game is fun, nice touch with the leaderboard. First few runs I was trying to type quickly, didn't do well, but then I noticed the multiplier and slowed down.

I feel like perhaps the game was missing double key presses at times... it was saying messed up on a lot of double letters. I wish I could see what letters I was actually pressing so I could see why I was getting typos.

The Glacier of DOOM by nilsf

Haha awesome. Loved the ending. Great job cramming all the mini-games into this. Only complaint is that the wall didn't really seem to factor into the gameplay.

Hello by mjau

Oh Hotel, you selfless animal!

Squeeze Maze by Mike_W

I think the idea of collecting treasures fast enough to reveal the exit in time is a great idea, but allowing the player to control the rotation of the wall completely defeats it.

Perhaps if you removed the rotation aspect and made the player collect more treasures to get the exit to move closer to him when it spawned behind the wall?

Getting the collision detection to slide along edges instead of stopping would help a lot.

Loved the idea though, and awesome that you got so many levels in there!

Walls of Tron by mantis

I'm a sucker for lightcycle games and making it into a cube is an awesome idea. The sound effects were also great. :D Wish the playfield was a bit bigger and there were networking or AI...

Extinguish by LunarCrisis

Loved the visuals in this game... seeing the wave of darkness push forward was very satisfying. The game was a bit easy, but I could see that being resolved with tweaking. I agree with DrPetter and Hamumu about forcing the player out. It would also be good if the player's shots didn't go very far; I often shot at things off screen.

SuperShred by LoneStranger of LoneStranger Designs

Good idea, but I really got bored because I couldn't type ahead... found myself waiting most of the time for the text to appear. Also kept typing underscore instead of space -- wish there had been a color difference for the current letter instead.

Wallcraft by lokijki

Great job on this! Love the graphics and animations. I just wish they were bigger. Fullscreen in the updated version helps, but it's blurry :( The sounds are also good, and surprisingly the 30-second music loop didn't annoy me. I was really impressed with how hooked I got on this game considering how simple the gameplay is.

A thing! by Lerc

Awesome idea, but it's sooo hard. Best I could do was one set of missiles. More upgrades and sound would be wonderful improvements.

Manually Operated by Problem Machine

Hilarious idea. I couldn't help but imagine my super villian yelling in frustration as the cops start pushing the wall back on him. Durn hero keeps running off!

Agree with others though, way too slow, and I found it near impossible at the end... ended up giving up. Would have been nice if the longer you pushed on the wall without letting go the faster you pushed it... then there would be some incentive to keep pushing even when under fire.

Shifter by KareemK

Lines move too fast to dodge and don't hit the corners... shame about the audio not being compo-valid, I liked it a lot.

Speed Blazer by kappa

Nice job! As 5parrowhawk says, very polished. Graphics look good, game plays well. I agree that it feels a bit slow... I wish I could see further ahead and just fly at breakneck speed.

My game by demize

Dodging games are always fun, but (as nilsf says) the block combinations quickly became impossible to dodge.

Glacier by jovoc

This was a good idea but the execution didn't seem to quite work out. Pathfinding glitches a lot and it's hard to understand why you can't place blocks at times. Speed is waaay too slow, mammoths would often run off screen and I'd be waiting for a good 60 seconds doing nothing before I saw them again.

That said, the gameplay seems to have a lot of potential... maybe as a simple 2D game it might be easier to play?

Drag the Wall by jeb

The controls were pretty frustrating, but I liked the idea and the defenses were cool (good idea with the sound speeding up).

Soverign Wars by Jay

Good idea, liked the territory control, but I found controlling my units to be way too frustrating. I don't mind my units moving around on their own, gives them personality, but I wish I had a way to focus them to at least stay near a point.

Jach’s Lava Flee by Jach

Nice work, very polished. The game is a bit too hard for me... it feels like your errors snowball, might be an improvement if the wall slowed down after it killed you once. The jumping physics felt weird. Liked the sound a lot.

empire the wall by increpare

Dark, great atmosphere, great music. However the game I found to be too confusing to actually play. It's not that I didn't understand the concept, it's that the frame-by-frame element of it made it too hard for me to plan what I was doing. I ended up spending most of the game just spamming the borders as much as I could.

Fleedom Flies by HybridMind

Really creative idea. The leaderboards were a great addition to it. Wish the player had a little bit more control over what was going on.

The Wall of (mildly irritating) Sunburn by hroon

Great idea! I loved the gameplay concept, but the push based controls were just too unwieldy and frustrating for me. I found myself wondering why I couldn't just pick them up and toss them where I wanted, if I were a giant.

Slugs v Salt by Jonny D

Game crashed on me whenever I shot anything in the normal level. Doom mode worked okay, though. So funny watching all the slugs mow down the salt! :D Aiming scheme was pretty frustrating, I found myself running away for the most part.

advancing wall of math by greencow

Auugghh how am I so bad at simple math :(

Funny idea, haha. The music was hilarious.

abandon compo release by georgek

I liked your choice in color, and wanted to like the game... but I honestly didn't really understand what was going on, even after playing the post-compo version. The lack of instructions combined with the fact that everything is the same color and general shape makes it very hard to figure out what to do. The dual scores make it even more confusing...

Walled Off by GBGames

I hope you finish! The mockup looked awesome. I pressed every key on my keyboard on this before closing hoping to see something. :(

Non-Advancing Wall of Failure! by Frimkron

Aww I wish there were more! I love filling a room with guys just to watch them die bwahaha. Great animations.

AWoRaFED rc1 by FourEyes

Brraaiiinnnsss... yay for roguelikes! This one is a bit hard for me, though. My mana runs out so fast and soon the level is so packed with zombies that I can't survive long enough to get to more mana. Would have been nice if I had a more risky but infinite melee attack to fight my way there. Zombies seemed to spawn too quickly.

The Final Solution by fidaner

Cool, and depressing. Disappointing to find out you didn't create the sound, it was one of my favorite parts. :( I agree with Radix, pretty awesome to see the game change over time in the journal. Also: your breakfast looks delicious.

If You Don’t Run Away From the Fire Then You Will Die So Thats Why You Should Run From the Fire by FenrisWolf

Fun! Good audio, liked the powerups, loved the animations on the main characters. x_x

Stormwall by Entar

Best score: 31 seconds. Loved the storm effect. Once I got it into my head to remember to use the sat beam it got a lot more doable.

Doom Runner by Endurion

Good game. Definitely fun, played it through to the end. The second level frustrated me for quite a while because there were a lot of blind spots where I would run into spikes, and the part where you have to jump through the floating bars is brutal. Shadows on the floating items would have helped a lot -- I never once got the pill because I kept thinking it was further away than it was.

Robo-Jimmy and the Bouncy Adventure of Doom by Draknek

It's a shame you ran out of time... the idea has a lot of potential, if you could get some levels that forced the player to move in a way that made the column run towards him. As it is, the level is too easy. Awesome that you got music and the level transitions in there!

tombed by dessgeega

Loved the sound! I was hooked as soon as I saw the intro screen. Graphics and gameplay were also awesome. The gameplay did a great job of making you scream in fear then allowing you to barely escape and get a second to recover.

Too Heavy For Re-Entry by demonpants

I really loved the concept and visuals, and desperately wanted to play the game... but the game is kind of unplayable. :( I couldn't figure out a good way to break things off of my ship and the camera kept getting stuck inside objects. I would love to play it if you continued working on it though.

Murus by danblack

This was a really cool idea. I loved that you used your tile field to display messages, awesome.

However, the controls were REALLY frustrating. It would be far more fun if one set of arrows (e.g. w/a/s/d) moved you, but didn't keep moving you when you let go, and the other set (up/down/left/right) let you shoot in four directions without having to turn. The fun of this game is quick reaction and memory, and the controls just ruin that. It would also hugely benefit from some sound...

I would love to play this some more if it were tweaked just a bit!

Spacewalls by crux

Survived to level 10! Quite fun. I think I would have preferred smaller ships and player size, though, so the field was a bit more sparse and you could weave in and out of them instead of just moving around them.

Uber Unmanned Wheelchair Deluxe by Cosine

Fun and WAY hard (in a good way). Levels were short enough that I didn't get too frustrated but it took me a while to beat the game. Colors grated on me a bit and the wheelchair seems a little too fast (I accidentally ran into things a LOT when I was trying to move forward just a little).

Solar Lift by codekitchen

Great application of the theme. I'm a huge fan of Tempest so I was instantly sucked in. Loved the concept and the gameplay was fun.

I found the enemy ships to be nothing but annoying... I wish their movement was a bit more predictable so I could use more strategy on deciding which planets to attack.

I also wish I had a better picture of what was going on around the cone since I'm so far zoomed in and can't see most of it most of the time.

Also... those waffles look delicious.

Laser of Doom by badlydrawnrod

Right arrow ftw! :)

Diodontidae necandi by athanazio

I couldn't figure out how to destroy piggies :(

AWOD by Arowx

Nice idea! The game was a bit repetitive though -- mostly involved me building turrets in circles around the wall. Would be nice if there were a bit more variety in the turrets or something to make the gameplay a bit more strategic.

Heart by agj

Loved it! Great job on the music.

Haircutter by 1009

The idea was good and the movement was good, but two things frustrated me: the camera didn't follow me when I got too far away from the propeller, and the things on the walls killed me. I wish the black wall blocks had just slowed me down or made me slip. As it was, I almost always died from those, and rarely from the wall of doom.

doomdoom by 0rel

Pretty awesome game. The random level generation worked quite well for me. It's really fun trying to figure out how to get the worm past weird obstacles. Nice job!
