Haha! i love it! i had a little bug (the big invader/ "ball" got stuck in the bottom making a noise when i touched it) but still the idea nad the game are great, good job :D

Yeah sometimes it happens that, I couldn't resolve the problem yet but I will continue trying, and I'm glad that you enjoyed the game. :D

It was fun for a little time-waster, for sure. It just wasn't anything all that new.
Also, the music was getting on my nerves a bit, being the same 5 notes over and over. Although, I suppose the original Space Invaders only had the 4 :P

Max humor score... this is a great joke game/mashup of arkanoid and space invaders. Just one technical point: to be fair, the weapon is just shaped like an enemy, it doesn't actually hurt you back like the other enemies.

Yes! I got the highscore! :D
Nice little game. It was a bit glitchy at times, my "ball" got stuck and I could only watch helplessly as the enemy attackers got closer. Nice addition with the blue powerup, it made it less repetive. The music was suprisingly effective considering it's looping and about 10 seconds long. The sound effects were fitting with the retro feel of the game. I think the relative size of the ball to the enemies make it feel a bit inaccurate, and sometimes the "ball" seems to bounce in a random direction.

Well, the idea is nice, but the game is too fast on my PC to play with a keyboard (with a mouse, it might have been doable)...

BTW, where are you from?

someone 2010-08-24 06:41

It was generally tricky to see where exactly there the 'ball' was going to bounce due to its erratic shape. It often seemed to bounce where the paddle wasn't. Also I found I could just leave the paddle alone slightly to the right and it would nearly always hit.

@TheLastBanana I don't know how to do music, but yeah the track sucks. I should have added a mute button. :P

@devinmoore That's true, my idea was that a overweight ship had fallen due to Earth gravity but I should have added more of the "enemy" element.

@Danik The game is quite glitchy and the ball isn't 100% accurate indeed, so I'm going to fix those problems on a new improved version of the game.

@Covenent I'm from Portugal. Too bad that you're having speed problems with the game. :(
Thank you for the mouse tip, I'll add it for the next version.

@someone I'll improve the bounce algorithm, thanks.

Hey! Good to meet a fellow portuguese in the compo! :) I'm from Setúbal! :D

I would have liked to see more of an explanation for the ball. For example, maybe there would be a boss at the top of the screen, and it shoots something at you that you can bounce back. Plus bosses make any game better.

Also, I'd go with something that doesn't rotate. The effect makes it hard to track the "ball".

Gameplay is quirky. The enemy as weapon was funny, but lost the point in a while. Using other game enemies oslt would've been interesting.

Funny concept. The collision detection really needs work. Especially between the ball and the paddle, and the ball and the bottom of the screen. Seems like I lost a ball many times where I didn't feel like I should have. You should also add mouse control. That's the proper way to play these kinds of games on a PC.
