LD18 — Enemies as Weapons

Kanbran by DrPetter 2010-08-23T01:23:00

Fun, Innovative and faithful to the theme. You did well!

Takeover by Almost 2010-09-02T13:13:00

Good graphics. The capturing concept is fine too for this scale. I played for a while but didn't see the ship with beam weapon that can be seen in last screenshot.

Alien Super Mega Blaster by Codheadz 2010-08-22T21:42:00

Simply nice graphics design.
Adding additional gameplay element would have helped a lot for sustaining interest, though.

The Robots and I by PaulSB 2010-08-22T22:25:00

Would've been a lot more fun with some more polish. Now it seems that challenge is about hoping that random number generator blesses you with luck.

This End Up by JamesGecko 2010-09-02T09:47:00

It's a bit dissapointing that many platformers don't get the controlling right with some inertia, acceleration, jumping etc. There were couple of neat ideas but there wasn't enough to play and what was there was watered down by glitches and untuned controls.

Purple by roBurky 2010-08-23T00:45:00

Looks pretty good. Gameplay feels nice and would be great with more difficulty and less cheesy weapon.

Battle Puzzle by Dzarg 2010-08-23T00:10:00

Ooh, an Ikaruga-style bullet-phasing game where enemies hit each other. Nice. Not enough to play though.

Architector by JMNielly 2010-08-23T01:15:00

The Enemies as Weapons seems tacked on to this game. Had some fun though frustrating time building the frankenhouse.

Eneapon by Tyler 2010-08-22T22:10:00

Eneapon.exe didn't work on my Vista64+ati at all. Computer went unresponsive for a while. Dragging L18.love on top of Love.exe worked.

Theme implementation is one of the common ones - kill enemies yourself, get powerup. Could've been a lot better if I would've gotten the city thing working (if it was implemented). Only saw the player circles growing.

The game itself doesn't seem to have other content that lots of monsters and loot, few different terrain types and huge map. The only city I found was the one in the beginning square and couldn't figure out what to do there. More documentation on real state of game would be nice - wandering through dozens of screen looking for uncertain content gets boring.

Also, didn't see the source anywhere.

iceFIREice by Jhelle 2010-08-22T23:15:00

Nice game. More levels and some additional gameplay elements would've been great.

Alien Abduction of Aliens by Danik 2010-08-22T23:54:00

The base game works good. A ton of great background graphics. Unfortunately the gameplay itself turns quite boring after a while. There's no combo bonus from killing lots of aliens at the same time. There's only one enemy. I used an tractor beamed alien as a flail for a while, but that didn't hurt aliens either (would've been more fun than capture and shoot). Quite polished game overall.

'Rover', Swarm and Gun Turrets by pauloseamano 2010-08-23T10:12:00

The gameplay is a bit too slow. Also, could've used a feedback when swarm damages a turret.

Rainbow Hero by chaotikZA 2010-08-23T00:11:00

Would you please upload the files to some place that doesn't require creating an account to download? Thank you.

Rainbow Hero by chaotikZA 2010-09-02T12:53:00

Clearly not enough levels or other content.

MegaTongue by piotrekb 2010-08-22T22:35:00

Wandering around in the darkness. If the game had more visibility and movement using the tongue with some inertia (dropping shooting altogether) then it would have a fun control scheme. That would not be about the theme, unfortunately.

Demography by Pokute 2010-08-24T14:57:00

Ahh, true. Mouse control is not obvious so added a short blurb into the description.

LDSpace by Torquil 2010-09-02T13:29:00

You managed to make the handling pretty weird. It doesn't feel completely inertial.

Spacenoid by Manuel Magalhães 2010-09-02T13:01:00

Gameplay is quirky. The enemy as weapon was funny, but lost the point in a while. Using other game enemies oslt would've been interesting.

Smores Attack by devinmoore 2010-08-22T22:17:00

Not much to play and buggy, especially if trying to restart the game. At one point I was carrying an enemy and couldn't throw it. The key repeat delay / acceleration was quite quirky too.

Master Exploder by hcs 2010-08-23T00:19:00

Best LD18 entry yet. Clever idea, clever puzzles. Want more!

Alpha Channel by Spooner 2010-09-06T16:43:00

Simple gameplay but manages to hook for a while.

Wherein Obstacles [...] IN SPACE by Sam Driver 2010-08-23T00:38:00

Very nice looking. Kind of ran out of steam when there can be several seconds between missiles appearing. Could've herded them to the gunship, but only did it once.

Jellyfish Invaders by Zoltam 2010-08-23T00:55:00

There's not much else, but the game is solid in it's simplicity. Use of two turrets in different places, aiming not controllable is a great idea. Also thought that it will be boring quite a while but the difficulty did ramp up with game time.

Would be a good game on a device which lacks good keys, for example a handheld.

HochEmpor by Mik 2010-08-23T00:02:00

Fun little distraction.

Double Bounce by Doches 2010-08-22T23:09:00

Doesn't fit the theme one bit, but it's fun, especially with designing own courses (can't destroy walls though). With some more polish and a matching theme, this would've been very good.

Dodger by kd5bjo 2010-09-02T13:41:00

The running animation is funny. Other than that, there's not much interesting except simple controls for touch-based devices and that it's in JS.

Recycling Robots by athanazio 2010-08-22T23:33:00

Difficult game.

Aiming is quirky. It's difficult to find correct weapons with right angle and enough velocity for way too many situations. Graphics are quite ok.

The music is awful with the few second loops. Sound effects when hitting and being hit would've been great.

Omnicide by nitram_cero 2010-08-22T23:21:00

Fun game that's implements the theme nicely. Well done!
