A viking game by quentinus60 2016-08-29T04:15:00
Very good first entry. Seems too short to me though. Some sound would have helped alot.

Very good first entry. Seems too short to me though. Some sound would have helped alot.
Very grindy but the ending was pretty cool. Some really great artwork :)
A very playable game. Some things I noticed.
Right click to pick up a weapon? I tried using R and Space.
I felt limited to staying around the tables with the guns. The fact I can just drop an empty gun and pick it up again later full of ammo bothered me.
Some ammo crates would have been nice.
The robots actually seemed pretty clever and the graphics looked pretty good.
Great concept. Traveling between worlds. Trying to understand their language with puzzles to unlock their secrets. Unfortunately the puzzles are just way too hard and it's difficult to see what you get from them (some reward maybe?).
Amazing graphics and voice over. I found the computer terminal to be quite cool but I had alot of difficulty setting a new destination using the seth command. I tried a few destinations from the waypoint just without any luck. I guess i'll be stranded in space forever.
Very cute little game. I got stuck on the coal car, white car and med car level. I tried every combination and the train kept blowing up. I would have kept playing if I didn't get stuck on that level.
As others have mentioned...the puzzles were rather unclear. I ended up just hitting space on everything to get through some of them. I was also not sure what level I was on besides looking in the side rooms. Might have helped if the camera moved up or down as you took the stairs. The art and music was very good though. You really built me up to get into that treasure room.
I am getting an unknown exception thrown when I try to run the jar. I do have the latest jvm installed.
I updated my jvm and was able to run the game and escape.
I really liked the alchemy table.
The piano made me feel like a mad scientist putting things together to get out.
Graphics were okay for what it is.
The only problem I noticed was my clicks were very hard to register. I had to click on the top left of the items to pick them up.
Very cool concept and terminal effects, but I don't think this follows the theme of the competition.
This is one of the better games I played though. It could work with sound/music and some additional features.
Intuitive and well put together entry. I can tell the UI and controls have alot of polish in it. The game feels well put together overall. The feeling of being cramped and need of expansion was communicated well. Although I personally didn't really enjoy this game - levels, more items to craft, better graphics and sound could easily change that. Although I scored it low it's one of the few in the compo I can see being pursed into a full release. There's a big market for zachy games and this one has it's own twist on the genre.
Found and reviewed this because you reviewed mine. Best one i've tried so far. This is a great little game. It has alot of gameplay. The minimalism works well for it. Everything was intuitive. The shop system is simple and works great. The only trouble I had was finding the wormhole to get out of the system but thats minor. Great job.
The artwork and sound is top notch. Just difficult enough to keep me in panic mode all the time. Overall great game. The only issue I had was the character freezes when I try to restart the game.
Really polished entry. Love the simple mechanics. The 2.5 graphics look great. Sound is simple and effective. The only frustration I had was with the movement itself. The game played great first few stages but as more enemies came up I felt swamped. I felt like it took a long time to wind up the dash so it was a bit frustrating. If the dashes could be done faster (potential power up / combo / upgrade?) that would be the ticket to get me hooked. Overall great concept and very nice job on this one.
This game felt like the worst nightmare as I played, haha. It's one of those terrible but funny games. I lasted 175 seconds first try. Great concept for this theme. I really get what you were trying to get across with the ads and voices bombarding you. The game itself plays well but I do have some things I could suggest for it.
1. Not sure about the icons covered up being the end game trigger was the best mechanic. I don't read the instructions when I play a compo game just to see how intuitive it is. This part I was struggling with but I did finally figure it out near the end. I would have used a RAM meter that once filled up from all the browser windows would end the game. You could tune that to roughly the amount of windows to fill the screen. This would have been a bit easier to understand and gauge how deep in the hole you are.
2. The windows themselves could have been better with borders, title bars and a close button. The windows in this game felt more like a slide show with a hard to see 2D wire frame close button. Just overall making the windows feel more like an application or browser window would have made a big difference.
3. Kill codes. I wasn't able to figure this out right away. The password.txt looked too much like another ad in the ad. Again, some sort of better defined window would have made this more intuitive.
Overall the concept is great with minimalist execution which may or may not have been what made this game funny and nightmarish as it is. Just better defined way of ending the game and window graphics would have gone a long way.
@adonisdevs yeah I get that using a ram meter makes the game less unique but you could definitely make the game unique in 100 other ways as long as the flow is intuitive. I definitely get into the trap of trying to make something mundane into a unique thing and it ends up frustrating and confusing players when I can focus on other ways I can innovate. It's an ongoing struggle with game design I guess. Finding a balance of unique and fun.
Web version worked for me and I was able to complete all the levels. Its a pretty simple maze runner type game. I don't really see where the running out of space theme is in the game but overall it's a playable game.
Cool concept. I like how doing anything in the game takes up space, haha. This game is ridiculous and difficult but that adds to the fun of it. I can't say anything bad about it. Overall great execution on the concept.
graphics, animation, music and voice acting are top notch. The game itself is very difficult but satisfying when you can manage to keep those crabs at bay. Definitely one of the more polished titles for LD i've played so far. The only negative I can give that it's a bit repetitive and a bit frustrating.
haha this game is pretty funny. I got over 10m. Love the silly carnival game music. 2018-08-12 23_30_50-LD42-Running Out of space.png
The game is okay. It felt like a pretty standard runner game. The vehicle controls felt too rigid for me and took a while to get used to it. The Insane difficulty is basically unplayable because I couldn't even get to the first pill before I ran out of space. The music could have used some more variety. I would have liked a sound effect on pill pickup and maybe some engine sound.
It's pubg in outer space. Just wish the ai was a bit smarter. I could just stay still and turn in a circle and they would never hit me.
cool art style. the little guy running in the space ship is a cute touch.

You should have added the humor category to vote on because I would have given it a 5 star. I couldn't stop giggling the entire time I played. It's a simple and fun concept. Overall I scored it pretty high.
Only negatives are
1. The lack of music. I think some sort of music or additional system sound effects would have supplemented the game atmosphere.
2. The white background. A background that emulated a desktop would have been an easy win.
3. Better overall computer atmosphere. A CRT filter and hard drive background sounds would have worked well for this and would be an easy win with Unity.
