LD36 — Ancient Technology

IT'S MAIL TIIIME... by TnT 2016-09-16T03:35:00

This game is essentially a waiting game with a UI twist.
And I'm oddly addicted.
I really enjoy the concept and the way it fits the theme. The interface really makes you feel like a part of the game though it is more just taking you along for the ride.
It isn't challenging by any means which makes the excessive waiting near the end fall short of emulating difficulty.
But I still thought it was great.

A Day With Mr Lmao by seveca95 2016-08-30T02:28:00

The game was entertaining. The intro sequence, though short, was smooth and actually quite a nice opener.
Though some parts seemed a little tough, I love a good tricky platformer.

I don't know, though. I have a funny feeling that that song may have been made before LD36.

Helepolis : Make It To the Siege by olkeencole 2016-08-30T05:02:00

I could see myself wasting an entire day playing some mobile version of your game.
It is an excellent time killer for lines, waits, and... um... bathroom trips.
Lovely game!

Five Days by DUDSS 2016-08-30T03:17:00

"I'm surprised you made it this far!" Well damn, how long have I been playing?

Played to the end! Ancient technology played on an ancient technology. Well done.
I had a little trouble with typing in commands and getting no response.

The ability to press up to repeat the last command (much like actual command line) would be very helpful if you continue work on this game!

The game itself is fun with a sudden need to learn very quickly at the beginning. I really enjoyed playing this.

Forty Two by Diptoman 2016-08-30T05:11:00

It's way too late for me to be thinking this hard.
This is such an intricate puzzle game for such a short development time. And to have so many levels! Incredible.
I, very frustratingly, enjoyed this.

Taxi No Roman by Nichii 2016-08-30T04:44:00

This was hilarious fun.
The idea itself is unique and fits the theme.
I love the horse's flapping tongue. Sometimes it's the little things.
The speed and frequency that the camera zooms in and out is a little nauseating, though.

Pharaoh's Puzzle by dcampos 2016-08-30T02:46:00

The rotation of the barrels was a cute little effect that really added to the game.
The game itself was quick and simple, but had a few tricks hidden up its sleeve. I found myself thinking "wait... if I put that there... What?"
Way to throw a curve ball on which barrel goes where.
I'm not sure if this was intentional, but the timer comes really close on the first barrel, which was perfect.

Buy The Moon by NoTrueSpaceman 2016-08-30T01:42:00

I'm kind of a sucker for clicker games. Broke a mouse on Clicker Heroes.
I quite enjoyed this one! Ludum Dare is a bold way to learn a new stack, you brave soul you.
The game was fun. I've always wanted to own the moon.
Thank you!

Touch the Monolith by silkworm_sweatshop 2016-08-30T16:28:00

Great game! Some of the levels were a pain because of the specific ordering (eg. the wheel).
The concept and execution were fun and unique with a dark twist at the end.

Tutankhamun's Curse by Dastina 2016-08-31T05:18:00

The link gives me a 404 error. :(
If you fix it, could you mention me in a replay?
I'd love to play.

Beacon Wars by Redream 2016-08-30T05:37:00

This game is so addicting. It's one of those games where you lost track of time immediately.
The music does tend to drone on, but the toggle button was an intelligent move.
Awesome!

Sabertooth Arena by Tomahawk2001913 2016-09-16T02:42:00

There were invisible walls scattered around the game and it made things a little confusing and tough to navigate.
The constantly spawning sabertooth tigers made it difficult to keep up if you skipped a beat for even a moment, but once your club upgrades it becomes easy.

It was a fun concept, but the lack of any indicators left much to be desired.

LD37 — One room

3 Minutes 2 Escape 1 Room by Cole Chittim 2016-12-14T04:48:00

Looks like you've perfectly simulated my life.

The game is a lot of fun! I played around for a while with it and found that I was enjoying myself.
The sounds are stressful, but it makes sense given the situation.

Boy, does this character take some long strides! I ran into things like a madman!
I also found that if you stick a photo behind an object this isn't suppose to move, it will move it. That was more for my own amusement rather than game breaking.

Good game!

Super Fish Jumping Extreme Pro Evolution 2 Turbo by aaaleee 2016-12-21T04:09:00

This game was fun to fool around with. The concept is unique and fresh.
The menus, models, and room looked fantastic.
I couldn't help but think that the movement left something to be desired. However, I did replay the game quite a few times due to enjoyment.

Horror Hotel - Room #13 by PRANEET56 2016-12-23T15:44:00

The extremely slow dialogue scroll ruined most of this game, in honesty. The gameplay was pretty good, but blocking off things that are obviously part of that game until they are mentioned doesn't really fit the escape room feel.
I did love the way this game looked, and the fact that it had a story we were part of helped things.
Pretty good for a second go! Keep it up!

Holo by Galan 2016-12-14T03:16:00

Once I figured out what I was doing (which took an embarrassing amount of time!) I fell in love with the concept. It all seems so otherworldly and I like that.
There isn't much to the sound, but it fits the style very well.
Speaking of style, the game looks great! As I had said, the futuristic, otherworldly style really suits this.

The controls are a little difficult to pin down. I felt like I was just baiting single enemy after single enemy slowly without much strategy. The attack seemed like it would randomly miss and I would end up dying.

However, all in all, I really like this game! I'll definitely be checking out your 'enhanced' version.

DangerRoom by hermetic 2016-12-21T04:50:00

Breakneck pace! I loved the particles in this game. Really pretty to look at.
I thought that the menu controls took me all over the keyboard and could have been chosen differently to optimize gameplay since the game is so fast but navigating is so slow.
Also, they could look a little more like bacteria and less like a generic ship and cubes as I immediately forgot what the story was, but I may be getting nitpicky.

Besides that, I love the idea. The feel of the game is nice and smooth and the gameplay could keep me going for a long time. I did quite enjoy playing this.

Interrogation Room by DiscoFish 2016-12-20T19:26:00

Damnit, this was amazing. You made all this in 48 hours? Did you sleep?
Well done.

Nightmare Room by CIDeV 2016-12-15T04:26:00

I loved the art for this game! It was a little buggy. At least I think it was. I randomly disappeared and couldn't move after I managed to kill a few creatures. Nothing had made it to my body yet.
If this isn't a bug, perhaps make it clearer when you've failed?
Either way, I enjoy it. Thank you!

O No! She's Grabbing the Mic! by youngbrothers 2016-12-20T19:35:00

That was pretty obscure, haha! Great work on the humour.

Wub Dub Dodge by Berbecarul 2016-12-19T20:06:00

This game is actually pretty fun and unique. I love the idea behind it and could keep playing as a time killer.
It wasn't as basic as others like it even, opting to have different bullets of varying difficulty.
The only issue is when an enemy is pack right into a corner.

Game Show Looper by TheFudster 2016-12-21T15:36:00

I liked this game. Very "Let's Make a Deal" game show style. There isn't much of a strategy on the doors, which makes sense, but I like that you can buy items during the game based on how confident you are that you have the right door (eg. the idol or the double money). Having items like that would be more effective if there was some planning to the doors rather than just a dumb luck which you pick, especially since the idol costs the same amount as a winning door. Maybe I'm missing a hidden strategy here? Like combining the idol and the double?
Looks like I'm playing again.

Even while writing this comment I got more enthralled by the idea. Neat game!

Hide and Creep by Starspell 2016-12-19T19:38:00

I can see why you made this game one room since that was the theme of the jam, but this would have been a great game through an entire house.

Be that as it may, in a single room is unique and fun game too! It just can get boring with the few options that are available. However! The timer makes up for that nicely.
Good job.

Life Waypoint by XtremePrime 2016-12-14T04:38:00

I walked too far off the screen and now I have to walk back...
This game is simple and looks good!
However, it doesn't play. You can click on things, but there is no feedback or outcome to my actions.
I like the idea for "one room" and there IS a game in here somewhere, it just doesn't feel done.

If you fix it up a bit and add a bit more, I'd love to play it again!

Twisted Chamber 3D by egor-idiot 2016-12-14T02:57:00

The game was fun! A simple platformer where the room changes to fit the next puzzle. Interesting way to fit the theme!
I agree that a checkpoint would be nice, but it IS a short game and I understand why it may not have one.
I would, however, like clearer instructions as to what the keys do as I pressed R near the end of the game and it reset everything. I would argue that a reset button isn't even necessary.

All in all, good job!

The Chore by cxsquared 2016-12-21T05:10:00

Well that got emotional.
This was a beautifully designed game. The gameplay is amusing enough to keep someone occupied and the story actually hits pretty hard.
If I completed my chores right as the time expired though, the game froze with a text box reading "I'm HOME".
Make that a 5th ending? Perpetual existence? Maybe then she won't leave...

See? Now I'm bummed.

Great game!

Hedge Maze Overlord by Turkey 2016-12-14T04:29:00

I kind of really enjoyed playing this. The simple idea of a maze game with an added twist. This was a pleasant surprise.

Sam's Room by Linus123xbb 2016-12-19T19:56:00

It feels like this game should be longer. Which is good as I wouldn't mind playing it a while longer either. The game looks great, but when the solution is the same each time, things get stale.
This would be a great full game though.

The Coldest Cabin by Brian Mayberry 2016-12-14T03:58:00

I like the way this game plays!
The sound had me laughing. It was definitely a unique way to make the sound for yourself!
I bought in to the quick plot and easy play-ability which makes this game fun.
I did, however, keep getting stuck in walls and would have liked a restart button on death.

Fun game!

In a Cell by NoahCagle 2016-12-14T04:24:00

Shame you dropped out of the graphics portion. I loved the way the menu looked and felt. The cell looked nice too. You are right though. Thank you for your honesty at least!

The game was fun, though short and a little repetitive. Jail cell fits the idea of "one room" perfectly.

When the inmate's sprites line up, it is easy to just mash the space button.

Decent game!

Pib Gloob's Warehouscape by Zarkith 2016-12-14T04:06:00

It's so short, but it's so adorable! I would have loved to play more of this game. Hopefully this could become a full game?
The sounds are simple and it looks great!

Cubestrophobia by mipo 2016-12-21T05:18:00

I loved the beat of this song! Very fitting.
Your character felt very floaty though, making him difficult to control. That could have been intentional, but the degree of which was a little high.
Also, since TAB pauses the game, I think it would have been optimal to have it unpause as well.

All in all, the game's style and gameplay really pulls it all together. And I did have a lot of fun playing! The difficulty really pushed me. Good game!

The one game by taras_v 2016-12-14T16:32:00

Well, that was depressing. There isn't much to the game, but it seems it's more suppose to be about the mood.
Good job!

Prison Inspector by Hamsternator 2016-12-19T20:14:00

As I can see you are aware, clicking on issues multiple times causes a win. It says I found 84 issues!
I do like the idea though. And man, it doesn't seem like I get paid enough if the inmates are this mischievous!

The Coward by Adam Gould 2016-12-14T16:46:00

This was made is 48 hours? Everything? Geez.
This has been my favourite game so far. It was insanely fun. I kept wanting to continue playing it. The sounds and music fit wonderfully and the jokes actually had me laughing.
Wonderful game.

Clue by Wumbo 2016-12-14T16:04:00

Kind of like Spy Party meets clue idea. Rather creative!
It is a little tough being the murderer, but it plays well and is a lot of fun to boot!

Things Worse Than Ravens... by fueelin 2016-12-20T19:20:00

I'm guessing you are a writer akin to Poe and Lovecraft due to the title and array of monsters coming at you.
However, this game needs instructions. Either in game, or in the description of your entry.
I figure increasing the work meter has something to do with hovering near the desk, but nothing seems to work.
The only bar that I understand is the health.
It is fun while it lasts though!

JazzHole by LoHii 2016-12-14T16:22:00

This game is pretty unique! It's a classic style platformer-collectathon that reminds me of old Rare titles. The idea is humorous and the walk cycle was a big part of that. The music and sound fit the game perfectly.

My biggest critique are the controls. I really feel they need to be smoothed out and optimized or else the failures in game seem like more of the game's fault than the players. The jumping on the drum sometimes works, sometimes doesn't.

All in all, I really enjoyed this game!

Squishy Room by Rob Glen 2016-12-20T19:13:00

There isn't much of a game here. I'm not sure what the bar is counting off to the corner. I assume it is progress but nothing happens once it is full.
I see where you were taking this game, and I think if it was all you set out to make it, it could be great.
If you do a post-jam version, please let me know!

The Cellar by Phil Strahl 2016-12-21T15:48:00

Wow, the mood is oozing off this game. I loved the look and feel.
There was a little trouble with the dialogue repeating, but that is it.
The puzzle was very "Silent Hill" and that's a definite thumbs up for me.

Evil Santa by popica23 2016-12-19T19:46:00

Simple little game in time for the season.
The lack of WASD movement had me confused a moment, but arrow keys work just as well.
It's pretty basic in pretty much everything which is alright depending on how it is executed.
I did play and I did enjoy it for the most part and that's all that matters!

One Room One Life by Nullz 2016-12-14T03:42:00

Interesting idea. I like the concept of a game developer working (or not working) away at a game in one room. It uniquely uses the theme.

Judging by the other comments, it seems that your game and sound aren't the best of friends so I will assume that only getting dialogue blips is an error.

The game was a little buggy. I feel like I missed half the story when he started mentioning "skids that stole my idea" as nothing of the sort had happened.

Also, on my second play through, I couldn't go to bed. I went to bed twice in a row and it suddenly stopped registering it.

The ending was hard hitting and close to home. Way to have me thinking.

Decent game! Just needs a little polish.

Filthy Chore by Jelinib 2016-12-15T04:39:00

I loved this game WAY more than I should have.
Everything that I saw in the "desired" list for this game should still happen in my opinion. I would love to play that full game.
The humour of this game is right up my alley. Everything from the lame jokes to the goofy model.
I liked this.

Deadly Spirits by Jimbly 2016-12-21T16:36:00

Tough! I like the immense strategy of it. Really takes a while to get a hang of. The sound makes the mood eerie and makes the game feel even more tense.

Kitchen Defender Ants Attack! by KunoNoOni 2016-12-14T04:14:00

The game is tough! The cut-off point for the tank is a little too soon with some ants scooting right past it. That is just an opinion, however.
Music fits, and the presentation is very professional.
Simple little game!

Escape Pod by creativwhisper 2016-12-21T01:21:00

I made the mistake of playing this game with a track pad...
I mostly mashed buttons on the walls and messed a ton of things up! Excellent use of the theme.
An intelligent and fun game.

monoCAMERAl by ghostfact 2016-12-21T04:37:00

This game was wonderful. It made me care enough to go into your source code to see your process.
It is a wonderfully one-of-a-kind idea that is executed well and in a good-looking manner.

Shrunken by oddityoverseer 2016-12-21T04:26:00

Extremely unique and I loved that about this.
The story, the way you have to move the mouse... all wonderful.
Certainly great for your first entry. Congrats.
The character moves a bit too quick in my opinion, however. It made controlling him difficult during the platforming areas.

I used GameMaker Studio quite a bit myself.
I don't know if this breaks any rules, but is there any way I can contact you privately?
