LD37 — One room

Parts and Labor by Dynamic Panic Studios 2016-12-15T03:17:00

Very fun game that gets better as you play and learn the controls. I had a lot of fun running back and forth catching the parts and trying to bounce them into the pipe off of the climbers head. When it got harder it was challenging controlling both at the same time but I eventually got the hang of it. Really unique game and one of the funner games I've come across (:

I Need A Sleep by AXaViaN 2016-12-13T12:33:00

Fun game about a languageless man trying to get some sleep. This game is so annoying I only finished playing to see the end. Fun concept, if you wanted to make the player angry and stop playing the game you did a great job (:

The ONE Room by Fiote/Phanx 2016-12-14T03:58:00

Fun exploration game. I liked the strategy involved in the combat and exploring the different levels. The energy system was limiting for me because I couldn't explore as much as I wanted. If having zero energy didn't kill you and just stopped you from regenerating HP and MP it would encourage more exploration. There is a lot of content in this game considering the deadline and I had a lot of fun playing it.

Dethroned by Devastus 2016-12-13T13:39:00

Very polished game, it was a lot of fun (: my only complaints is that dodging is super hard and that you can’t rebind the keys. It is really hard to have a finger on all 4 arrow keys so one finger is covering 2 keys and is almost always too slow. The art and music go really well together and are really high quality.

Nobi Sword by matthewpalaje 2016-12-13T11:30:00

Fun game with great art. Once I stopped holding mouse 1 and spinning I started to like the control scheme. It might be nice to experiment with twin stick controls or have the mouse control the sword. Some of the enemies would spawn outside the playable area (not that it stopped me from killing them (: ) or at a different height than my sword. The enemies are good for the beginning levels but it would be nice to have more difficult enemies that move or fire projectiles. The graphics look really polished other than a jittery trail on the sword that sometimes appears. This game looks really promising and I would love to play any future versions.

Slime Box by KadaDev 2016-12-13T02:29:00

I really like the concept of this game. Some of the puzzles were fun but it seemed really linear like you were just moving through the game rather than solving problems. I don’t know how possible branching paths or more complex puzzles are to make but I think they would add some depth to the game. Like some other people commenting I got stuck at one part mostly because I wasn't paying attention and I assumed the enemies wouldn't be able to trap me because the arrow pads were laid out so well. I think there should be a check point system and enemies should kill you when you push them into yourself instead of just occupying the same space as you (I think this is a bug). Also a minor issue is tapping the keys to move which gets repetitive, being able to move by holding down a key would be nice. This game has a great concept and was executed pretty well considering the deadline. I think there is a lot of potential here and would be interested in and more fleshed out version.

Game of the year! Can't wait for clapclap 2. (:

Light Kea by TeamSemiColon 2016-12-13T13:17:00

Really fun game. Getting speed with the ball is really satisfying. The game is really unforgiving because if you miss a few hits you can lose the ball and there is no way to defend you self and even if you get back to the ball it’s really hard to start a combo. I had a bug when I held down mouse 1 the swinging noise repeated at a ridiculous speed. Really fun mechanics and gameplay, super addicting.

Death Room 4000 by DalesDiscountTires 2016-12-13T09:49:00

The controls are really hard to get used to because the character doesn't keep any momentum. The difficulty curve felt really weird because each obstacle seemed to have the same difficulty but the earlier ones became easier because I played them more not because I learned the controls. I think this game really needs a sense of flow. The character moves really fast but you can’t speed through obstacles you have to stand and wait. I also noticed that you have a ton of friction when falling against walls and I hope that it is a bug. Having a slower difficulty curve or checkpoints would make this game a lot more playable having neither makes me a little disappointed because I would like to see more of the game. I might check back later to see if checkpoints are implemented because I want to play more of the level not the same sections over and over (:

Roach Escape by Ithildin 2016-12-13T09:11:00

Fun game with great level design. I think the art and instructions could be clearer. I'm not really sure what the pause button's purpose is I would always hit it and then try to edit. I think this game would really benefit from more levels but there is only so much time to make them.

Moon Maze by guoboism 2016-12-13T10:32:00

Fun game with interesting mechanics. I feel like the game is both too linear and too open ended. I played through twice the first time I wanted to explore more but I accidentally beat finished it. The second time I wanted to explore more but I ended up digging to nowhere and decided it would be a pain to go back and explore somewhere else. Some parts hold your hand a lot and all you're doing is walking through the game. When you explore outside of the obvious path there is no direction from the game at all. I really liked the two mechanics other than the limited batteries (maybe have laser charges drop when you move new blocks?) and fighting the monsters was my favorite part. I feel like there is a lot of things that can be done with this game.

The little big room by jackolondon 2016-12-13T10:01:00

I had to use the arrow keys to move because wasd wasn't working ): Pretty interesting game but it seemed really linear and when I completed the game I didn't feel like a did much other than look around. I really like the mechanic with the colored glass though.

DMG CTRL by SidewalkSleeper 2016-12-13T12:50:00

Pretty entertaining game. Having waves instead of constant enemies might be nice so you can fix your walls. Right now fixing walls is worse than just killing the enemies so the game just slowly keeps going as you lose buildings. Also the only way to get charge is by having your buildings destroyed getting charge from killing enemies might be something to look into. Pretty good point and click game, I really liked the unique setting and backstory.

Amelia by Xinelu 2016-12-13T12:05:00

Good audio and setting. A little too short for me, it would be nice to have some balance between point and click and instant death.

Little Black Spider by madmarcel 2016-12-13T10:41:00

Interesting concept I have liked to play different arrangements of the room or at least stomped more spiders. A shadow for the boot would have been nice or at least have the boot closer to the ground so it doesn't have to fall as far. Great art and music (:

Recursion by KaiseanGames 2016-12-15T02:12:00

Neat game. some interesting puzzles and some cryptic puzzles. After I went in the portal I pressed the button and it didn't activate the trapdoor ): Interesting game with a variety of different types of puzzles.

Tree House Quest by AngrySquirrels 2016-12-15T02:59:00

Very fun and polished game! The art was great which isn't surprising considering the amount of artists but what impressed me was the consistency across the entire game. The style was pretty much the same on each screen. I thought the combat was pretty stale and the only time I didn't just press space was during the final 2-3 fights. This is a very complete game and a lot of fun exploring (:

Giiver's Hop by MrTroy 2016-12-14T04:36:00

Fun game! Figuring out strategies for each level was fun and challenging. I did notice the problems with the controls that others were mentioning but it didn't cause me that much trouble. The art was nice but the music got a little repetitive. I really liked how complete the game is with the little time that you had to make it.

Karate Basketball by SeaDads 2016-12-13T10:58:00

Sick game. The offense lets you destroy them when they are inbounding the ball. This would be a super fun multiplayer party game if you added some more depth like blocking kicks or natural shooting motions. (Matt Barnes is pissed he didn't make the game)

Freedom by Cody Hansen 2016-12-14T04:22:00

Challenging game with great character controls. The movement was the perfect speed and responsive. The different challenges that were added to each level were fun but the black screen should fade at the start so it's not so jarring. It also felt like I would sometimes die when I didn't touch the spikes. The art looks great and the audio is good except for the spike sounds that get annoying fast. Really solid game that I had a lot of fun playing.

Shards by Geosearchef 2016-12-13T11:58:00

Interesting game I like the exploration and revisiting the rooms. The walk speed is way to slow when the majority of the gameplay is walking around and exploring. I think the portals need to be reworked because I couldn't tell what was a portal and what wasn't so a lot of the time I was walking around pressing 'q' and 'e'. Maybe have puzzles that unlock the portals rather than the portals themselves be the puzzles. I think there is a lot you could do with the portal mechanic, it looks really promising.

sit down by spb_Rusty 2016-12-13T13:05:00

Fun concept but super frustrating. The game seems like it requires more luck than skill. I think that the only way to unseat a student was to hit a student into the seat the game would be much more manageable. Right now it’s impossible to keep students seated because every time you hit a student they all get unseated. The mechanics are there for a fun game.
