people must really dislike escape the room games, that I'm the first comment :/ . I got stuck on the clock puzzle. Like I don't know what the note wants me to do with the clock. Music could have helped add atmosphere a lot. Besides that, for how normally escape the room games go, this is a very well made one.

@mirta000 Thanks a lot for playing my game. Since I couldn't get any other idea I chose the "Escape The Room" idea. And sorry about the music part, I really didn't have much time for the SFX and Music... It would have given a better ambience though.

[SPOILERS]> And the clock puzzle, the clock actually has an arrow drawn in it which points towards the ventilation duct. You have to click on the duct and collect a piece of note which contains another clue to the final passcode.

I have uploaded a link for the final passcode. Download it only if the game is getting really tough.

The extremely slow dialogue scroll ruined most of this game, in honesty. The gameplay was pretty good, but blocking off things that are obviously part of that game until they are mentioned doesn't really fit the escape room feel.
I did love the way this game looked, and the fact that it had a story we were part of helped things.
Pretty good for a second go! Keep it up!

This was fun to play. I felt really smart when I figured out the passcode :) This game was well made. Little sound or music would have added to the atmosphere of the game. The graphics of the game was nice. Really like solving the clues. Overall a fun game to play. Keep it up!

@Cody Hansen I'm glad that you liked the game. And for the slow dialogue part, you can actually hold [ENTER] and the text will render faster.

praneet56 2016-12-24 11:05

@kamranwali I'm really happy that you liked my game and congrats on being able to figure out the passcode.

A pet peeve of mine is when you aren't really in control of your character in a point-and-click. He just stands there while I am really the player at my computer, rather than having agency as the character on screen.

The text prints very slowly, even holding ENTER while it does only speeds it up marginally. I feel you didn't really need keyboard controls and could've done it all with on-screen buttons + mouse1.

I would have liked less notes and more variation in the items you find for clues. I'm not a fan of the linear path you have to take to gather them all.

I do appreciate that you started off with a bit of tutorial on how to use the controls. And having the end dialogue determine your success was a nice addition. The writing could have been a little more condensed.

Graphics were basic, I would suggest spending some more time on a colour scheme. Maybe have a look at some perspective drawing tutorials online, because that bed doesn't quite line up. ;)

It is a great game!! Its awesome! It would have been good if there was sound but excluding that the game is very challenging and innovative. Totally recommending this!!

Nice progression of clues, but the clock puzzle is a bit too ambiguous to figure out easily - I had assumed that one of them wasn't necessary, since most clocks don't have 4 hands and there were only 6 digits (2 per hand) for the passcode. Nice tutorial intro too, but going back and forth between mouse & keyboard was a bit awkward. Still a pretty well executed puzzle game, nice work.

It's pretty hard but isn't scary at all.
Maybe with better graphics the game can be more interesting, but you have done a pretty good job.

josemorval 2016-12-30 13:59

It meets the one room theme perfectly and escape room point & click games are always nice to play.

Things I'd improve:
- A bit of ambient music and sounds, like when you are opening and closing drawers or when you failed to enter the password.
- Show a little description when you click an object.
- Little things: certain colors, dialog boxes...

Graphics (figures) are fine.

[SPOILERS] I didn't understand the clock puzzle, I had to see the passcode. And even then, I still don't understand how I could have guessed it. But there are people who did it, so I think I didn't try hard enough. Also, I'd like to have known a bit more of the Hotel Room owner so I could have choosen better in the decisions. I died thrice! (Yes, I chose wrong in every decision). Despite that, I liked the last part. [/SPOILERS]

Overall, not a bad job. Keep making games!

Neat game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum Dare 37 games, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://youtu.be/iiDZ_Pg3Qr4

I got stuck :(

wierd0 2016-12-30 23:19

Sorry, can't run it because I don't know how to get past windows smartscreen, which thinks its a virus...

jramell 2016-12-31 04:42

Nice entry. I think the game would benefit a lot from sound effects. Also, at the beginning I FELT LIKE THE GAME WAS SHOUTING AT ME WHAT IT HAD ALREADY IMPLIED A MOMENT AGO.

themonsterfromthedeep 2017-01-01 08:26

I thought I had figured out the passcode as a time - that is hours:minutes:seconds, and hours were minutes and seconds were hours, so I thought it might be 111215. (I thought the second hand was pointing towards 11). I suppose this was wrong, but it may be why the puzzle was so hard - it relies on rather arbitrary facts.

Some of the notes were hard to read.

Overall, though, not really a bad 'Hotel Escape' game. It just isn't quite clear how to win. ;)
