mikeware

It's an interesting twist to columns, but I think it'd be a little better with a smaller playing area, it takes a long time before rotating even comes into play.

SethR

Sorry sir, I've always been a tetris fan, never really got into column style gameplay.

Jach

I agree with mikeware on the smaller playing area, but it's a neat way to do something tetris-like.

Wiering

Nice game, interesting variation. It gets exciting at the end.

pekuja

Might be a neat idea, but it's way too easy. I had to whack the columns down at random to even get above the edge so that I could try the unique feature of rotating the upper section. And ... yeah, it's just columns. I'm not sure if I would really even call that "minimalist" either. :-/

philhassey

It's minimalist alright. Could have used a bit of pizazz. Excellent food entries :)

Hamumu

Well, I'm afraid I must agree with the boring comments... it's really just very boring. I bet if you just made it about 5x faster, it would be a very intense challenge. But what you got here is insanely easy Columns, and the swapping doesn't come into play unless you are doing horribly, which isn't gonna happen with how easy it is (I too had to drop columns randomly to see it). And once it does, it just makes the game even easier, by giving you 4 top halves to work in.

Sometimes I lament the theme. It sure did make for a lot of weird variety though.

dgriff

I got to 11 points and quit out of boredom. Sorry = I like the food shots though :D

jhauberg

Heh, horrible color scheme, but solid gameplay (.. albeit kinda boring ;))

Devon

I like the pure 16 color graphic style, it fit the theme really well and was all retro hip n all that. the gameplay left some to be desired..

phren

I really would've liked the preview in the 48h version, I think it's the thing that would've helped the fun factor the most. The turning is a really great idea. At first I thought (/hoped) it would've turned the whole playing field, though.

DrPetter

Yay, I remember making one of these games a long time ago on the Amiga (without the rotation of course).
General gameplay works ok-ish, though you could have thrown in some delay between combo lines. It's kind of unsatisfying to just have a huge section disappear instantly without explanation.
The playfield rotation doesn't really add much, imho. I think it's too complex to provide anything but a random-ish panic thing for when you're running out of space. I mean, the feature isn't complex in itself, but it's probably hard to keep several playing fields in mind and plan/match patterns (I didn't even try).
Most casual games resemble gambling in the first place though, so maybe it's appropriate.

mjau

Sorry, but I have to agree with the boring comments too =(. I compiled the source for Linux, and at first I thought I'd done something wrong since there wasn't any rotation even after I'd played for a bit. After reading the other comments here I dropped some pieces at random to at least see the rotation in action. Never would have seen that in normal play, or at least not before I'd quit out of boredom. It's just too slow, too easy, and not very interesting (though the idea in itself was). Food was nice though =)

HybridMind

Well, I'm gonna have to agree with the other comments about the pace of this game. Normally I am into these types of games and maybe because it is pretty late right now but I quit out of tiredness / boredom. I see you uploaded a tweaked version that addresses much of the feedback so I won't beat a dead horse here. ;) I think I'll give that new version a try!

EDIT: Yes, the new version is a lot better paced and more fun! Awe, the blessing and curse of 48hr timelimits.. ;)

Dathgale

I got up to a little over 30 points when the blocks went into the top and I could rotate them, but I couldn't make use of the feature except as extra space.

Please make it speed up over time; that was mind-numbing.

negativegeforce

sweet, never seen this done before.

eugman

A twist on an old theme. Feels like it could be fun with some work.
