Couldn't get past the menu on the windows build
@rkhadder Thanks for trying, but what do you mean? does it crash? was there a firewall pop-up on the background? unfortunately there's an unresolved problem where the engine tries to use UDP ports when loading a map as if it was a server which prompts a firewall message.
Beautiful graphics, nice presentation. Very fun to play through it and pretty challenging too. Nice job!
This is a nice piece of work. Mariner runs, fires and sets up explosives. I would say some kind of variety would greatly benefit the game - be it weapons, monsters, room traps. The gameplay is very straightforward - aim and don't let monsters bite you which result in running in circles - your speed is a bit faster then of monsters, I believe. Nice, overall.
Thanks for the linux build ! I find myself struggling on both levels when there is a one minute timer : I'm really running out of space to avoid walking on dirty stuff, and the game jumps from tranquil to nearly impossible. Is there something after the timers ? I think the difficulty is too hard there (or am I too bad ?). I wonder, can the growing stuff keep you from achieving your objective ? One of those grew just behind me as I walked a corridor leading to what I assume was the next part of the level.
@zessirb Yes, the game might just be a bit too hard (to compensate for the short nature of it maybe...) You can indeed get stuck with no options than to die in bio mass if you move too slow, but that's what restarts are for.
Gorgeous game, probably the most polished game I've seen in the compo! It's (too) short, but hard. Good voices, nice textures and lights, feels good to play! Great work!
Great work! As other people said, good graphics, voices... Good job!
There is one detail that made me laugh a lot and is when I planted the bomb I was expecting a BOOOOOM! So I ran quite far and suddenly I heard "pup", I don't know why but this made me laugh a lot.
Seriosly good job man!
@muriel haha, but the explosion does sound like an explosion right, even if anti-climatic? thank you!
@shp Yes, it's fantastic! I just wanted to share with you this fun moment :) Good job seriously!
I couldn't beat any of the stages it's too hard :c
But I enjoyed killing the crab-like thingies >:D
Would have loved to play but whenever I tried to extract it would crash my WinRAR. Probably just something on my end though :/
Even though the game was difficult, I liked the audio/music and the game play overall.

it's a damn good game, dificult but worth it!
Nice work, kind of reminds me Alien Breed. I love subdued bang from the explosives.
Awesome game, I loved it! I couldn't even beat the first stage but it was fun. I played it 10 times saying "I'm close, this time I will beat it" but couldn't :) It is ok though, don't make it easier.
Thanks for the feedback everyone!!
@axavian it's a bit too tough maybe, I can beat the first stage maybe 1/3rd of the times :) the second stage is actually much easier!
Really fun game, I love the aesthetic! But I do think the game is way too difficult. But overall I really like the game, and your choice of engine is really unique! 😄
Fits very well into the theme and is very addicting!
Great game, it feels pretty well but together.
I NEED A VACATION! Oh boy i really dig top down shooters. Nice graphics, nice sounds, a claustrophobic atmosphere, lots of enemies and even more bullets. Couldnt complete a single level but i really had fun playing it!
10/10 would play again.
For me this game was top notch, the gameplay was fun (albiet hard) and the graphics along with audio were suberb, I loved it.
Really great job
"No, you alien thingies go awwwaaaaaayyy"
Simple but sweet, you need to advise what the bomb is for. Game pace is fast for the first level; overall just more information would of made it exceptional.
I had fun playing this game!! I really liked the Alien Swarm mood and the graphics but I couldn't beat the first level, I died in loop after the bomb.. =)
Excellent presentation and cool gameplay! I like the graphics and your models.
fun game, i really liked the gameplay.
Top notch aesthetics, fun gameplay. Goes well with the theme too.
What I loved: - Aesthetics - design and theme were consistent throughout - Controls felt great to use - Felt like it was almost ready to be shipped save for a few things!
Some suggestions: - Maybe I missed it, but it would be great to have some explanation for the growing poison-bubbles-slime thingies. (Or was it that the parts of the aliens grew into those things? It wasn't really clear) - It felt like some variation would be great in terms of gameplay (different weapons/enemies, some twist on the core game)
Great work!
Whoa, very polished entry! Particularly loved the voice acting! I only have two complaints: the camera is a bit jumpy (being somewhat fixed to the cursor, rather than the player), and it's very, very hard. Lasting a minute in a tiny room with tons of enemies swarming in and the alien goop growing everywhere is maybe a bit too harsh!
Getting *Shadowgrounds* vibes from this one. Looks the part, pleasantly retro graphics. Plays the part too, which is *not* very high praise. Basic shooting and enemy kiting.
The levels are nearly identical, I would have liked to see some variety in the second level. Running away from more aggressive biomass (or a massive horde of aliens) would have been a nice set piece. Some way to fight the biomass would open up avenues for advanced level design and resource management.
The ending of the first level is more difficult due to the smaller arena. Switching the levels around would have been an easy, last minute fix to avoid frustration.
Never heard of FTE QuakeWorld, seems pretty well suited for shooters... No surprises there! The Linux version worked fine, except that the menu input broke in fullscreen mode.
Solid work.
Overall: *Above average (3.5)* Fun: *Below average (2.5)* Innovation: *Bad (2.0)* Theme: *Average (3.0)* Graphics: *Great (4.5)* Audio: *Good (4.0)* Mood: *Above average (3.5)*
Thank you again for all the lovely feedback!
@huvaakoodia FTEQW is an enhanced quake 1 engine, so it indeed is easy to make shooters... if they're first person shooters, like quake. most things go out of the window when you make anything different, but it's still very comfortable for me to work with even if I have to reinvent the wheel occasionally
I just have to say I really liked the camera, it reminded me of old 2D GTA games (was it GTA2? I don't remember).
Gorgeous game
Love the style of the game, gameplay is smooth and fun!
graphics, animation, music and voice acting are top notch. The game itself is very difficult but satisfying when you can manage to keep those crabs at bay. Definitely one of the more polished titles for LD i've played so far. The only negative I can give that it's a bit repetitive and a bit frustrating.
WOW! I want the full game! Also, it was impossible sometimes to walk when those things start to grow! And I couldn't find the key to place the explosive. Just jumping and hoping that it will place automatically was my way to do it :D
This brought me back to early Playstation days. Marking mood and graphics the highest for sure. If you had humor enabled I would give that some stars just for the dude yelling "gotta reload" when he's all alone. :P
Would have been cool to have a quick reload (like in Alien Swarm) because reloading in the alien wave room is like a death sentence.
Amazing game in such short time. The music and graphics are really something, but the audio voiceover was too quite for me. Alien wave room was iffy though, because I somehow managed to trigger the waves but not the actual countdown
Gameplay is very smooth and enjoyable. The lightning really sets a good mood for the game. The voice lines are funny. You did a great job.
