Great graphics and music, and a lot of fun. Controls and collision a bit finicky at times, which lead me to some infuriating deaths, but overall, great work!
Great graphics, and I like the sound. Possibly a bit too challenging though - I always got swarmed very quickly. Liked the way hitting an enemy with the wrong shape caused them to multiply.
Pretty fun shooter. Gets very satisfying once you start picking up extra weapons and becoming more powerful. Particularly liked the beam laser.
Wow, I absolutely loved this, just wish it was longer! Loved the art style and the music, and the main mechanic was a really great twist on the theme! Also, top marks for mood!
That was really enjoyable, and well worth playing through a few times.
I laughed hard playing this! Simple game, but perfectly executed.
This needs to be expanded upon - feels great to play currently!
Took me a while to figure out what I was doing, but then it became quite a fun game! Satisfying, if a bit confusing.
Holy crap that was mind-bending! Antechamber fan? Really cool game, but very, very short (at least, I think I made it to the end, not 100% sure...) But very awesome none the less.
Took me a while to figure out what I was supposed to be doing, but once I did, this was cool as hell. Lovely graphics and great music!
Wow, that was a lot more challenging and addictive than I expected. Looks great too. Maybe a bit too difficult though - after 30 seconds it seems impossible!
Loved this. Took me a while to get the hang of it, but gorgeous graphics and great mechanics once you get into it. Liked the music too.
Woah, that art style - amazing. As others have said though, a bit slow and could benefit from checkpoints.
Quite fun, with some nice ideas, although jumping was a bit tricky and being sent right back to the start each time was a bit frustrating.
High score: 37. Giving you an extra point for the game over message.
Really great work here - excellent presentation and loads of fun to play. Telegraphing enemies well in advance was a great idea too.
Cool music, and I liked the graphical style. Often found it hard to avoid shots from off-screen enemies though.
Whoa, that was extremely well made.
Nice concept and lovely graphics. Quite tough though!
This was awesome! Great graphics, tight controls, nice feeling of progression - excellent stuff!
Nice concept, potential to be a really interesting puzzle game. Boxes had a mind of their own at times though!
Quite a well made little RPG - impressive!
Seems like it's got a lot of potential, but I was a bit confused as to what I needed to do, and early on seemed unable to progress any further.
Nice concept, well executed. Only real criticism is what others have said - having to navigate every cloud piece through the same corridors every time was a bit frustrating.
Made me chuckle a few times, but apart from that, there's not much there... You do 'shapeshift' though, so well done on that!
Great game, looks gorgeous, challenging, unique. Good stuff!
Took me a while to get the hang of it, but it's a really well-done puzzler! Lovely graphics and audio too.
This is absolutely brilliant! I honestly can't fault it - great use of the theme, tight controls, excellent level design, fantastic graphics. One of the best entries I've played so far.
Looks nice, and controls are responsive. Fun and innovative design too - I really enjoyed this. One issue though - sometimes I couldn't see far enough to judge jumps or spot incoming bullets or enemies.
Really nice lighting effects and overall look. A bit finnicky though - I feel the game would immediately be much better if you fired in the direction of the mouse, rather than just sideways. Also, enemies would detect me and start firing even if there's a wall in the way. Still, a pretty cool start to something here.
A bit finicky with a mouse, but I could imagine this being a lot of fun on a phone or tablet. Really nice presentation too.
The lack of contrast between walls and floor made navigating a bit difficult. Nice idea with the random element - I think with a bit of polish this could be pretty interesting.
Very nice. Very difficult (I couldn't get past 50%). Great style, solid, simple (mechanically, not difficulty!) gameplay, and an options menu, which is rare! Nice job!
Short and quite surreal. Took me two attempts to beat it - on my first attempt the option to change form didn't appear on the right when I absorbed the first creature. Interesting idea, but a bit lacking in content even taking into account the short development time.
Pretty fun, but a little confusing at times. Controls well and AI is quite effective. No idea what becoming a bear does!
Movement and collision was a bit glitchy - I got stuck in the environment quite a bit. Has the beginnings of a promising puzzle game though - just needs a few more mechanics to flesh it out.
Managed to finish it, although may have some serious RSI now... Great concept, presentation and music - very impressive.
Excellent. Looks great, and gameplay is smooth as butter.
Nice graphics, great music, and a fun game. Controls were a tad awkward though. Having the option to move with the arrow keys as well would have helped, or maybe also using W to jump.
Nice graphics, great music, and a fun game. Controls were a tad awkward though. Having the option to move with the arrow keys as well would have helped, or maybe also using W to jump. Baffled as to why you excluded audio as a category!
I'll just echo what everyone else has said - too short! I enjoyed what was there, and definitely wanted more.
This is great! Looks great, feels great to play, and the audio in particular is excellent! Really enjoyed this and will likely play more of it.
Nice graphics, sound and atmosphere. Took me a while to figure out how to kill the first peasant though.
Thanks to everybody that's rated the game or left a comment so far!
Kifuga - they do have limited sight, but unfortunately it's slightly greater than half the screen width, so you wouldn't know! Design flaw on my part!
sbeif - Sorry to hear that - I've no idea what's causing it as it's not a CPU/memory intensive game at all.
doombrowski - each 'form' does serve a purpose - I've added a bit more of an explanation to the game description above.
Nice graphics, quite fun, but attacking was a tad finicky at times.
Noooo! It ended just as I was really getting into it! Great idea for an adventure game, and I hope you finish this!
Top marks for music, graphics and concept, but too many frustrating elements with the controls and gameplay to enjoy fully. For example, you need to press 'up' to fire forward in 2D mode - it should be 'right'. Also, I couldn't figure out how to change height in 3D mode, and switching to it from 2D mode seemed to reset it every time, making it impossible to progress.
Nice concept, but too tough. Enemies would frequently shoot me from way across the map. You also can't see far enough ahead to effectively use the turret. But definitely something promising there.
Controls and shapeshifting implementation were great. Presentation and sound were also top notch. But the camera made it almost unplayable - it was constantly lagging behind so building up any sort of speed (necessary for a lot of jumps) left me way off the side of the screen.
Reminded me of a top-down Daggerfall, which is no bad thing! Apart from that though, it still needs a lot of polish. The combat felt dull - the little orange damage indicators aren't enough to let you know what's going on, and the lack of animation or feedback doesn't help either. Another observation - it doesn't make sense that I can walk down those narrower corridors when in the big red guy form. A solid start here, but could do with quite a bit more work I think. Ambient music was nice.
Fun game, I felt it could have benefited from a more zoomed out view though.
A lot of fun, controls were a bit finicky in places and I went off the map a fair few times, but still, really nice!
Nice graphics, wasn't sure what to do though - I made it to the Empire State building and the top bit flew off, then I just flew around aimlessly.
The concept is pretty similar to my game! Loved this, really funny, well executed, great stuff!
Gorgeous looking game - I really love the art style and colour palette. Attacking enemies was tricky though; I found the best strategy was to move into range, wait for them to start attacking, then move back, before attacking them. But I couldn't really get the hang of it. A bit of work on the combat would add a lot, but overall, a really cool game!
Man, it's relentless! Really fun though!
Really cool twist on the classic snake concept - I liked this a lot!
Nice concept, fun to play, my biggest issue would be that the play area is too small - that combined with the room wrapping meant I'd often be flying all over the place trying to slow down.
Man, this game is brutal! Really nice concept, but I couldn't manage a stack of more than a few boxes at any time - any more than three or four and it's impossible!
Really nice! Man, I am terrible at these sorts of games though - even on easy mode I couldn't survive long! Simple, fun to play, sticks to the theme!
...well, that was unexpected! Surprisingly fun, although the beggar sprites looked like they came from a completely different game!
This game feels GREAT to play! Really smooth and polished. Looks and sounds great too. Found that staying too close to walls got me hit by spawning enemies I couldn't even see however.
Great job - really polished game! Not much to fault really - would have like to have had bigger levels and make a longer snake however.
Thomas Was Alone with physics and household objects! Really great idea and well executed! Only complaint was that it seemed extremely fussy about registering whether you were in the target area or not.
A bit too easy, as others have said, but the art and sound design more than make up for it. Really fun game!
Really great work! My only complaint would be that you have to be extremely precise with the height of the lift for Jim to want to walk off it.
Really cool concept, and good job! Felt like fires happened way too often though. Also couldn't even get my weapon amount into a positive number, never mind meet demand.
Fun game, with a nice, simple style that fits the theme great. The only real issue I ran into was getting stuck in walls - normally I could get out again but a couple of times I did have to quit the game entirely.
Nice graphics and atmosphere, also love the wind sound! I often found it difficult to know where to jump next however, and after gaining a little bit of height, it seemed near impossible to avoid the big icy things.
Fun game, but very difficult given how slow you move! Liked how there was actually some strategy involved - you aren't collecting the antibodies; you're trying to position your self in such a way that the viruses would hit them!
Simple idea, very well done, although it feels like it gets too hard, too fast.
Really cool idea and nicely executed (excuse the pun)!
Love the concept, the graphics, the soundtrack, and how smooth it plays. Would love to see this expanded upon in the future - has the potential to be really great!
JackIsaacs - you need to click it 10000 times to quit! Er... actually, no, that's a bug, oops.
gwolf86 - Agreed! Serves me right for only starting to try and balance the mechanics in the last few hours before the comp deadline!
PhillSerrazina - if you leave the office before 5pm, you don't get paid for that day (you can check the time via the clock on the back wall).
Dumivid: Hah, yes, the 'sound design' was a result of 20 minutes in Bfxr right before the deadline - in retrospect no sound may have been better! Hence me omitting 'audio' as a category!
Sanguis - I only spotted that crash after the comp deadline - I had just run out of time playtesting so didn't spot it in time! I'll probably release a more polished version of it soon, but feel free to steal the concept all you want! Hell, if you're familiar with GameMaker, feel free to DL the source file, expand on that, and release it! (Please credit me if you do this though!)
johnbrynte - I really like that idea! But it would have been way too much for me to implement in 48 hours - maybe in a future update!
This might be the greatest game ever made.
Seriously though, it's a brilliant idea, and everything about it is done so well! I love it!
Loved the game and loved the music (although it did get a bit repetitive after a while)!
Nice mechanics, challenging, and easy to understand. My only criticism would be that the car controls are bit sporadic and slidey.
This was a lot of fun! Very well made, with solid controls and a very fun grappling hook! The segment just after you get the RPG where you have to fight through countless turrets was a bit repetitive though, especially since there's a tricky spikes section afterwards that if you fail, means you have to replay it all again. But apart from that, excellent work! I especially loved the sound effects!
Really unique, well made, and fun to play! I love the visuals and the soundtrack. Great job!
Very well done indeed! I like how the controls and how to play are presented very clearly within the game (something a lot of jam games miss). The concept is great and it's a lot of fun to play. Great use of the theme too.
It's not often I say this in relation to a jam entry, but this is damn near perfect. The core puzzle mechanics are simple, clear, and work really well. The levels are challenging but balanced, and get progressively harder. The visuals and sound compliment the game perfectly. This would make a great mobile game. If I payed five quid for this on iOS or Android and got the game in this exact current state, I'd be satisfied!
Excellent job!
Great idea, and really fun to play! Sound effects might be a bit too loud - I jumped out of my skin when the first one played!
Really nice implementation of the theme and very well made! Had a lot of fun with this, and especially loved the visual effect when squashing zombies. I did encounter one bug - when a box you're pushing turns into a zombie, the game crashes. Apart from that, no other problems.
Would love to play this with some sound effects added - I think they'd enhance things greatly.
Wow, there's a lot going on in this game! Your ambition is very impressive, even if parts of the game felt pretty rough. Overall, I really enjoyed it. My first attempt, I wandered around aimlessly and then ran into a Lvl. Slime King that utterly destroyed me - I immediately wanted to play again and get my character leveled enough to beat it!
Nice game (if a little confusing initially) and I really liked the simple graphics style. I found it pretty difficult though - even the smallest burn seems to send you way back up above the planet again.
Really interesting play on the theme - this is something I think could be fleshed out into a really cool adventure game! I couldn't figure out how to leave the area though - it said I got the password to the east city but the guy to the east wouldn't let me through. I feel like I missed something obvious...
Other than that, great graphics and music, and fun gameplay! You Pico8 games are always a blast to play!
Great graphics, animations, and monster designs! Also loved the sound effects. Controls were smooth if a little slow.
Lovely visual style and that music is just glorious... Also a really fun game, with just one problem - using the mouse is very, very difficult given the size of the boxes you need to click on. I feel the game would be greatly improved if you could select what to do with the litter via the keyboard (for example, move with WASD, and either up or down on the directional keys to select an option).
This is fantastic. Steep learning curve, but, similar to Kerbal Space Program, even the learning and constant failing is fun! I'd love to see this expanded on!
Well, putting all of the sliders to the right is definitely NOT the way to win!
Interesting game - I had fun with this! Sort of like Kerbal Space Program meets Universe Sandbox!
Started off playing this like regular Tetris and failed pretty quickly! Really interesting concept, makes you completely rethink how to approach a well known gameplay mechanic.
This has a ton of potential, and is even a lot of fun in its current state!
Watched you stream some of this - it's an incredibly ambitious and fascinating game! Everything looks great and feels really tactile. My only complaint would be the lack of instruction - it took me a while to figure out exactly what I was supposed to do at each stage. I also couldn't get past the 'create a supernova' stage as I had no idea what to do.
Very interested to see if you expand on this.
Felt very difficult to shoot the enemies without getting shot yourself. I did like the music though!
Nice concept and fantastic graphics. Wasn't sure if I was playing wrong or the game is just difficult though. Still, a lot of fun to play!
Oh man, I love this! The music, the visual style, the feel... Amazing work! It's hard as nails though!
Really nice game, but very, very difficult! I got overwhelmed in wave 1 - a lot of enemies spawn in and do a ton of damage! Also, as others have said, it's not entirely clear that you're supposed to throw enemies into the pit.
With some difficulty tweaks, this could be really cool.
Whoa, very polished entry! Particularly loved the voice acting! I only have two complaints: the camera is a bit jumpy (being somewhat fixed to the cursor, rather than the player), and it's very, very hard. Lasting a minute in a tiny room with tons of enemies swarming in and the alien goop growing everywhere is maybe a bit too harsh!
Really nice, simple execution of the theme that plays solidly and works well.
Instructions were a bit unclear - I was trying to shoot the red balls and didn't realise for a while that you're actually supposed to shoot the thing coming towards you. Once I got the hang of it however, it was pretty fun! Repetitive, sure, but well made, with nice art and great music. Will be back to rate it once the comp time limit is up shortly!
This is so much fun! With a bit of improvement to the AI, this could be a genuine classic! Local multiplayer would also be a ton of fun. Nice visuals too. Great job!
Lovely music, gameplay was a little simple but mostly effective and worked well. I felt like some sort of parallax effect on the stars would have helped create a better sense of speed and motion - currently it doesn't really feel like you're moving unless you look at the coordinates changing.
