This is an impressive game... Fits the theme in a unique way and looks amazing. The quirky sound effects work well too. Great job.

Pretty funny game! As someone who struggles with social anxiety I can relate
when i read the name a tink of rick and morty interdimencial cable
Neat little game. I really liked the dreamy graphics and the sound.
Very well done indeed! I like how the controls and how to play are presented very clearly within the game (something a lot of jam games miss). The concept is great and it's a lot of fun to play. Great use of the theme too.
@shinysteel Thank you! I was worried about the sound. I wasted 3 hours trying to fiddle around with some music and couldn't get anything wouldn't have been worse than silence.
@4thwallstudios Thanks a lot! I'm glad it ended up relatable. This game scenario is actually my nightmare fuel
@bovandenberg Haha that's great. One of the NPCs is actually Morty.. by accident. Just decided to give a texture a yellow shirt and then all of a sudden I couldn't unsee it.
@hakro Thank you! I'm glad the sound wasn't too irritating, I was a little worried it might be since it was really rushed.
@conorod I agree, missing instructions in game is something I've done in a lot of game jams in the past. It's hard to think of that when you are stressed for time, but I figured posters would be fitting. I really wanted to do more explaining the mechanics of the game, but time constraints kept me from making more.
What a neat concept. I really like the nice bit of juice you had on the footsteps. On criticism would be that for a while it wasn't very clear I was taking damage from people looking at me, but your vision slowly decreasing not only helped me to realize that but was a nice touch.
I did it! I liked the walking sound. I don't really understand what the vision thing was... I spent a lot of time hiding from some unseen threat in the stairwell. Perhaps that's intended social commentary...
Really like the game! Gives you a real sense of anxiety ;). Kinda scary in a way! Great graphics, nice idea, solid implementation! (Thanks btw for playing Inventory Story on stream!)
The dude with the hat and the green shirt made a full 360° head turn while still looking at me. That was super creepy :D Really nice and polished game.
A good game idea, the music should be improved. The graphics are good. Try our game too, maybe you'll like it)
I like this game ! Enjoyable and seemingly VR ready ;) As a person suffering from anxiety attacks I can attest that the nervosity is spot on ! I love the footsteps, really nice touch to make the game a bit lighter. Only thing I would suggest is adding some audio tracks and party lights (I know, this is a jam ... so no worries !)
Thanks for the entry !
The controls of this game were so tight! I just ran and jumped around a bit before I left the starting room. But I don't understand, how do I shoot anxiety at people?
Lol. It was a very interesting game. It was nice to see a unique concept explored. I feel like it could be expanded into one of those short but profound games. Like if you had more ways of helping people, but had to work around all your anxiety to do so, or just leave the party to safety.
The art was good too. It was simple, but I feel like it fits and serves the theme and message of the game.
Very good :D
Finally managed to fix the issues with my HOTAS being used as the default controls by just unplugging it :)
Great interpretation of the theme! The hat guy downstairs is going to give me nightmares, with his gaze following me wherever I go. The damage effects are nicely done.
Not sure if intentional, but its actually a cool juxtaposition with the player taking damage when near others, but the conversation system feels really nice to use and the party guests actually have some interesting things to say. Very solid compo entry.
The audio became really neat whenever the player moved! When it comes to matching the theme, maybe some other indicator could have helped to better understand the whole personal space idea. Pretty good game!
Well polished and fun during the entire playthrough. A little bit annoying how you can't talk to someone again unless you walk away first though.
the sound effects really triggers me :D also reminds me of being in a party 100 % for realism :yum:
Hello @ursagames ! First, thank you a lot for playing our game Bomber Dash during your yesterday's stream and providing us very valuable feedbacks, we are really happy you enjoyed it ! Sorry I wasn't able to attend the stream unfortunately (just one remark, you can go over one hole using the dash, so you are not supposed to be stuck so early in the game  ).
I just tried your game as well, it's really impressive for a Compo Game ! The sound effect of walking made me smile and the mood is really cool ! The characters faces are also priceless ! The only difficult thing for me was that you must read quite fast in some situations, and it's not my strong point, ahah ! But I made it to the exit though !!!
And it would have been great that we feel the anxiety from the beginning because I was kind of surprised the first time the screen got darker and I wasn't really sure of what was happening.
But once again, good work on this entry !!!
Thank you for playing my game on your stream. I played your game on my stream tonight at https://www.twitch.tv/saoigames
I have rated your game, but all of my feedback was captured in the stream.
You can hear my comments in the archive at https://www.twitch.tv/videos/298329090
Thank you all for the feedback! I wanted to get in a poster that explained the damage system. I assumed people would move away when hit with the damage sound and post processing effects- but I suppose it wasn't obvious enough. Maybe just a text message explaining your situation before the game started would have done it.
There's definitely a lot that could have been polished with that conversation system. I think having a minimum time displayed would have helped. Also a maximum time for final conversation message, or looping back to other messages to prevent needing to back away and come back.
For those mentioning the 360 degree head turns, that's based on your current anxiety. The more anxiety you have, the more the faces will follow the player. I rather liked the effect for the game, but I didn't really mention it anywhere so it could be a surprise.
This game is very unique and I really like it! It had nice looking graphics and good story. The only thing I'm curious about, is why have You implemented jumping :P? Anyway good job!
Dizzy anxiety)) Nice idea)
Impressive work! I like the graphics, especially the characters, they're funny. The mechanics work really well and the walking audio is a nice detail. One thing that might improve the overall experience is have by adding some camera movement while you're walking.
@corqi Thank you! I started with the movement mechanics before making the play world. I tend to have issues with playing first person games where I can't jump, it just feels so bad to me even if it's pointless.'
@lensflare Thanks! I thought the party anxiety idea was going to be pretty unique when I was working on it, but it turns out there were quite a few others who had the same idea :D
@jka I found the characters amusing to make, I'm glad you approve! Nice idea about the head bob, I forgot some people like that. Never been a fan of it myself, but it would have been easy to implement with a slider for how much head bob. I'm already keeping track of movement to feed into the footstep sound effects, would have probably taken like 5-10 mins to implement.
Ha ha ha. What an oddly relatable game. Parties are terrible and it's always good to have an escape route prepared so you don't end up trapped in some strange bedroom with no way out. N-not that this happens ever or anything.
I see comments on the jumping. Jumping made *perfect* sense to me. Jump on furniture and climb around stuff to avoid people and definitely *not* look weird or socially awkward in the process.
Characters were funny and silly. And a little creepy. I didn't hate Karl. He actually helped me. I'm sure I didn't come across as weird by constantly pestering him for help.
It was a great feeling to finally get out of there and get some fresh air. Ahhh. Thanks for the entertaining experience.
Its really dark there but thats not the problem. I got stuck really quic. Couldnt go further anymore and couldnt find anything for npc's. Dont even know if i can open drawers. I looked everywhere and cant do anything :( Cant find the wallet not purse :(
Ok i see now. Web version is bugged. Will leave another comment and give some rates after playing windows version
Now i can say something :) Makes me thinking about this situation. You forced me to do bad things to get out of this house. Eh, true life :) Great game!
Very nice game. Loved the simple art style. I like how you put instructions in the game. I felt like the movement was very fast. Would've been better if the speed was a little bit slower, but that's not a big issue.
Great job!
Hey there! This game was played on www.twitch.tv/arjendesign just now! Super fun!
Loved this! Great little adventure game. Awesome dialogs / puzzles. Was really fun, could've kept playing an hour more of this :)
Amazed that something like this can be made from scratch in 48 hours! Thank you for documenting the creation process, I'm really curious to check it out and understand how it's done.
@chris-coe I'm glad you enjoyed it! I was surprised at how many people related to the idea while I was making it. I had an anxiety attack once at a cousin's wedding, it's rough. I wanted to do more with the jumping when I made it, but then I realized I didn't want to just turn this into a random platformer. Karl grew on me, I wish I could have fleshed out dialogue more in the time I had.
@halomegames oh no! Sorry you had those problems. I ended up taking down the WebGL build... I had to do some tweaks to try and get it to port to that and it just looked awful. I think the lighting glitches there too where sometimes there is none. Glad you ended up enjoying it afterwards! Man I wish I had the time to make the furniture intractable though, I thought about it for a split second then realized it was just out of scope.
@keyurrana Thanks! I wanted to do more posters too, but them time constraints. I realized that the movement probably did feel fast, I just have a hard time playing FPS games where you move slowly personally. I guess I should have added in a sprint / walk mode
@kapiteinkoekwous Thanks, although I couldn't seem to find my game in their vods. I looked through their queue and it looks like they played another game with the same name?
@matank Thank you! I had a lot more planned but spending 3 hours failing to come up with music ended up cutting that out. Probably a pretty rough time to watch in the vod... was running on fumes during that 27 hour stream.
Nice game. At first I like the sound it made when you walked. However, it became repetetive soon. Thats all really - other than thatit was fun to play.
Awesome game, very creative and smooth controls! I'm Kyle on real life HAHAHA
Great game! Very cool and interesting! :D
Awesome game !
I had a nice first playthrough and then I thought, "I can be faster !"
So my next plan was to try and speedrun your game to see how fast it can be beaten and currently my record is 1min 00s 10 !
I had no luck on the High Low for this run so I guess it's feasible to get below 1 min !
Keep it up mate !
Great game, love the asthetic. It kindof reminds me of Blendo games (gravity bone, thirty flights of loving). Simultaneously funny and disturbing, and the feeling of having your personal space invaded/anxiety was conveyed very well through the gameplay.
The game looks great and the clouded vision affect worked really well. Really enjoyed playing!
@mza Thanks! I agree the walking sound would have been better with a lower volume and some kickin music, but I failed at my attempts of making music.
@raktou Thanks! It's always surreal when a character in a game has the same name.
@cristihkj Cheers! Glad you liked it!
@maksime haha that's awesome! Did you figure out the strat to speedrun the purse? I should have added in a time played and anxiety received stat at the end game. Would have loved to add in some stuff with multiple solutions.
@alfie275 Thank you! Wasn't familiar with Blendo games, those look interesting!
@doey Thank you! I was rather happy with the effect
Very cool! nice game!
Played it 'till the end. Very fun game, congrats!
If you ever decide to touch this project again, I would recommend adding a way to getting through the last girl that includes not ratting on Kyle. That was hard for me to do
@ursagames I did an any% glitchless run so I not try to find any exotic, I might try it today, I'll keep you updated on my best run
oooo. Loved the environment and exploring all of the characters and their dialogue. Creating a barred experience, unlocking contents of the house as you help the other peeps at the house creates a linear environmental puzzle-solving experience that felt pretty rewarding. That, and the audio n visuals were pleasing. Nice
I think I played something like this. It was top down. Really liked this one too, cute art and interesting concept.
I made it out (sorry Kyle)! That was fun. It balances quirky and creepy pretty well. The walking sound was a great touch.
Nice game, I hope to see more updates and improvments sooner. If you don't bother take a look at our game when we focused on Graphics and visuals and see the results that we got: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/42/spacelab-42
Good luck!
This one was really well done. I liked the interpretation of the theme and the mechanics of the game although it sometimes seemed a little difficult to avoid getting close to too many people (especially pickle shirt guy, what's his deal?!)
I had to "speedrun" it a second time after beating it the first time. Also, don't go left after ratting on Kyle!
The sound of your own footsteps were lovely to keep me company throughout the game :D
Very nice game! At first I didn't get it but when I got below floors it started to make sense (when the yellow dude started attacking me xd). I liked the kind of strangeness vibe that the house emitted. I also really liked how the UI was done, very intuitive and clear. The visual style was also very good. I did think that the sound and the visuals where kind of different. The walking around sound was also kind of weird; first I though it was some kind of radar but it seemed to be just going up and down all the time. Oh well.
It is a fun little game. I loved the footstep sounds and the characters faces. I also was freaking out a little bit the first time I went close to two characters and my anxiety started to increase. I didn't know what was happening at first lol.
Hooooo, this is accurate. Not often I see things like social anxiety articulated and games, and this does a great job of it. Normally, I'd say uncanny characters are bad news, but...they add to the mood here. The walk sound is a nice addition too - it adds a sense of urgency, especially if you're fleeing from an anxiety trigger.
Overall, the mood is fantastic, the sense of anxiety is real, and I'm going to hazard a guess it's relatable for a lot of Ludum Dare-goers - can't say as that I've been to a party, myself, and I plan to keep it that way.
In any case, very nice work!
Good game concept!
Great graphics, really liked the art-style. This type of FPS-puzzle solving games is something that I like a lot. The "task-progression" and difficulty was balanced well. One problem for me though is that I think it takes too long time to get rid of the anxiety. Is mostly an annoying feature for me. But to summarize, I think this is the best game I played so far!
Silky smooth controls.. :ok_hand: After a while of hearing the arpeggio walk-steps, it has got its charm with the theme..
Very effective use of UI to interact with the NPCs.
Optional Suggestion: - When the Player is in significant midst of anxiety (the speech options may change dramatically: perhaps even changing Randomly in Rhythm (RiR - Random in Rhythm)
Very clever spin on the theme! The controls feel really good (played with mouse and keyboard) and i also like the graphics. The people really have some character, i love the faces. I also like the attention to detail, as i cannot ask stuff i do not know about yet. Good entry, especially for compo :)
