I hope somebody Py2EXE's this!
I hope somebody Py2EXE's this! So I can try it without, you know, effort.
I'll ditto this one. Well, actually I tried installing pyglet and it keeps claiming that I don't have Python installed (I do) :-/
I have added a py2exe version of the game to this page. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The guy walked really slowly for me, and the first two levels were just empty?
The guy is supposed to walk leisurely, so you have enough time to drop the necessary items. The first three levels were meant as introduction levels with additional text, but I ran out of time before I could add the text.
The character was incredibly slow and it made it quite boring sometimes. The mechanics weren't really explained well in something like a readme. Neat enough concept though, I'm sure this could be decent after some polish.
Dang, just when it begins to get interesting it's "Fin" already :(
I would've loved to see this fleshed out more. More items, etc.
py2exe, hugs all around! :D
Intentional or not, I dig the whole "Deus Ex Machina" thing going on with the player making sure that Ted has exactly what he needs at any point - almost, at any rate.
Apart from the brick texture (I still can't see straight after the doubles) I liked the style. The pixels did their job remarkably well, spot on representations of their meaning (except for the dagger/sword drop - I only figured it harmed stuff :P). The death animation for the monsters had a nice visual feedback touch to it - make it obvious it was dead.
For a 48 hour job, not bad at all. I'd love to see a full-fledge edition; touched up graphics, more items, evol puzzles (perhaps even an ongoing dialogue between Ted and narrator?) - excellent.
Really cool little entry - well done!
I was very disappointed by the early FIN - it was just getting interesting! Only other criticism was the slow walking speed - hold right click to make him hurry up perhaps?
