OOOOOH. COOOOOL.

I dig the music, the look, the touch, the feeeeeeel.

OF COTTON.

THE ATTACK OF THE JARTOS!

Them hopping enemies are really hard to click on. I actually assumed they were unclickable after a lot of attempts. But then it was impossible so I kept clicking on them and eventually got it. Though they're hard to click on.

the music in this is the best out of all the entries of this compo and nothing comes close

...only joking, i'm not the right sort of person to comment on it

i like the "defection" interpretation of the theme, it's kinda like the "hacking" interpretation of recursor's compo entry

it seems a shame that the enemies up the top tend to somehow destroy themselves, otherwise this game could actually be *quite* good

the concept appears to be quite flexible and with a few more enemy types (possibly including conversionproof enemies) or maybe a recharge meter, this could actually prove to be a really fun way to kill time

in case you're wondering about the music, vieko just popped up on IRC with a bit over 3 hours 'till the deadline wanting some 8-bit style music so i managed to somehow produce something in roughly 40 minutes

the 8-bit console is, of course, the sega master system, and i managed to produce what i think is a valid .vgm file as well (although it's in flash so i had to make an .mp3 file, as you can't really do your own mixing in flash, i know about that xm player and it's absolutely awful on linux)

if you want the .vgm file i spewed out, here it is: http://pubacc.wilcox-tech.com/~greaser/mods/weedeater.vgm

and here's the .mp3 file: http://pubacc.wilcox-tech.com/~greaser/audios/weedeater.mp3

Awesome work! I really like the purple colour scheme, the music, and I especially like the rain effect. All it needs is *more*: scores, lives, a few extra modes and enemy types would be a lot of fun. I kept accidentally pausing the game when I clicked one or two pixels off the rightmost edge where the flying enemies appear: it would be a good idea to add a small border so you are still clicking on the flash (or simply don't let it pause when it loses focus). You did a fantastic job! Keep up the great work.

I agree, I find the hopping guys too hard to click on.

This is pretty nice other than that. I'd love to see a post-compo version with more forgiving click detection.

actually, just tried this game on linux with its native flash player, it runs at a reasonable rate, scrub what i said about it being slow
