SUPER Villain Hook Fighter (LD25 Edition) by Geoege 2012-12-20T11:34:00
The controls are really awkward. Nice blood effect though!

The controls are a bit fiddly, but you get used to it after a while. Also, it's kind of annoying if you're almost at the end of a level, and you die, so you have to start all over again. Fun game though!
@Avenger @GravityGames Have you unzipped it? Please run it from the command line and post the output.
@juaxix Please don't learn from this code! It's really terrible, and this is not the way I would go about it normally.
@jonathan: Yeah, I didn't have time to fix that bug...
@Gaeel: Have you installed OpenAL?
zenumumbler: Yeah, I only have windows and linux, so I can't really test it on OS X. I blame the gaming library I use; it's terrible at HID.
sclark39: Could you please provide more details? Have you tried opening it from the command line? Have you installed OpenAL? Have you got .NET 4.0/Mono installed? On which operating system are you?
And this is not just for sclark39, this is to anyone who finds this game not working for them.
Very neat little game! A tad on the difficult side, but great for when you're bored.
Worked fine for me!
This is really nice. I think it's just because I'm crap at puzzles that I won't get past the first two puzzles... :(
Website down!!!
Just adding to the already existing flood of comments saying the exact same thing.
An in-game how-to would have helped immensely!
The linux/mono build works great ;)
I like the mechanic where certain objects come from the side to prevent you from just pressing the spacebar. The music is great.
However, it's not reeeeaally minimalistic, so that's something that could have been better. Other than that, good idea, not too generic and nice gameplay.
@kddekadenz I did not. There's a "launch.sh" file included in the zip!
@gre Why would I? It works on windows, mac and linux.
Certainly minimalistic! I was able to play with another person who happened to play it simultaneously, and I had fun despite the lag.
I like the idea. The game was quite challenging once you started it, but you kind of got into a rythm as you played it more and more.
I had fun playing it, although it was a bit challenging at times. I wish there was some kind of checkpoint system, so that you don't have to restart every time you die.
I found it rather repetative, but... POTATO!!! XD
No, but for real, I liked the idea, and it's definitely minimalistic.
Very good story. "I'm not Dan!" xD
Little note for next time: you mustn't download sounds from anywhere. You must create all content within the 48 hours (read the rules).
Interesting idea and great artwork for the mood of the game. Didn't find any rainwalkers though, which is a shame :(
This is a great game! Fits the theme very nicely and gets the player genuinely angry whenever you lose a level for the umpfth time.
One comment I have, however, is the fact that the music restarts whenever a level restarts. This can get quite annoying at times.
Liked the game, really challenged you to play longer to see the ending (although it was a bit of an anti-climax, I must admit, at least in the compo version).
btw, Croze, you're disgusting too mate.
Good game, a bit short though! ;)
Nice short little game! Implemented the theme well, not very innovative though, and a shame that it's just for windows. Overall pretty good, well done!
Very fun to play game, definitely pushed you to develop your own strategy and a nice implementation of the theme. Also great music! Well done.
Really fun game! Took a while to figure out some of the levels, but the fact that you needed to develop a strategy was really cool.
Very much liked the idea. I also liked the happy mood of the game compared to the sinister nature of the gun being held to your head. Good job!
Quite a nice little game for 48 hours (actually watched a bit of the development when I wasn't streaming myself ;) ), although the best strategy seemed to be a bit silly: you just waited until you could freeze time and then you shot everyone, repeat. Still quite a cool game ;)
Ehm, didn't really understand this one o.O Since you were explaining it as I went along it kind of made sense a bit more, but at heart I really didn't get it very well. I think I would have enjoyed it a lot if I got it though ;)
Very good game, music fit the game very well, and the little text thing at the bottom was quite good too, although a little more checkpoints would be appreciated :P
I don't even... Make sure the player knows what the point of the game is before they start playing it, it was very confusing.
Pretty funny game, although the controls didn't always work properly. Good job!
Liked the gameplay a lot in the way, although it took me a while to figure out how to play the game properly. It's a shame there's only one level, but then again, I think the point is to beat your own score, isn't it?
Very good game, and with the graphical fidelity as is expected from you :) Keep it up!
Man, the fact that you have to restart every time you die is really unforgiving, and the boss fight is very difficult as well, didn't actually kill the boss, since I had to restart when he killed my. Good job on the idea and the rest of the implementation though!
Sorry, but didn't manage to make it to the end without cheating. It's very unfair that your health doesn't reset after a boss fight as well, makes the game pretty much unbeatable. Fun game overall.
I see what you were trying to do, but the implementation wasn't very good, the collision detection wasn't done very well. The smoke isn't transparent in the web version, btw.
Very polished looking game, and good job on an mmo in 72 hours! The controls are a bit on the odd side though...
Very cool puzzler for 48 hours! Good job! Was a bit tough, had to cheat out the timer for me to get to the end ;)
Very nice game, liked the look of it a lot. The story was quite good as well, it's just a shame that you couldn't integrate the theme, it should be your no. 1 priority really...
Sorry, didn't really like it a lot, was a bit bland and there isn't a lot of gameplay. Also installing the frameworks was a lot of hassle.
Cool game, could use a lot more gamplay elements though (although I've heard from reliable sources that this will in fact be the case in the future). But overall a great game from a great team! (the background got out of sync with the zombie-non-zomie-ness of the game, btw, but I suppose you already knew that)
Quite a nice little game apart from the collision detection ;). Gave it one start for the audio though, it says explicitly in the compo rules that you have to make your music within the 48 hours.
Despite there only being five levels a pretty fun game overall. Good job on this! I know your first LD in one hell of an accomplishment.
Really feels like an unfinished game, soz. Keep working on this in the future if you want to expand it, it has the potential to be a lot better. Keep making games! Also, congrats on your first ld :)
Very nice game, liked the look and feel of it. It could use a little more explanation in-game though. Keep it up, good job!
I love this. No comment! Just plain loved it, really pushed you to play further, I love that.
Good job for your first game! Especially since it was made in 48 hours!
Very fun little game! Sucks that you uploaded the wrong build. Good job! Liked the style and was pretty fun to play, fit the theme very well.
Nice game, could use a couple more levels though. The last one was really tough! Good job.
Good grief that was difficult! The particles made it quite hard to see anything as well, very polished and very good overall though!
Really really really really really really really tough! Kudos if you even managed to get to the end without cheating yourself! Very unforgiving game.
Yeah, going to fix that problem.
