Nice pixel art. Instructions could have been better. Also some glitchy collision.

Hugely funny idea. Didn't find it too hard. Good game. :)
Made it to lvl 51 with two players and two mice!
Thanks for your feedback everyone! I'm aware the game is too easy, I regret that I didn't have time left to balance more. :(
Gobo and gesangbaer, thanks for reporting. I recompiled the game using Java 1.6 now rather than 1.7. It should now run with older versions of Java too. :)
I updated the package so that you now can run without the batch file, took some time for me to figure out what was the problem. Didn't change the game contents of course. Thanks again for the feedback!
Great idea, nice puzzle game. :)
Impressive graphics for such a short time. Was rather hard to find out what to do. Also, it takes too long before the subtitles tell you what to do. I suggest next time make a message box, in which you can print multiple messages and let the player read at his own pace?
I also wasn't sure whether I beat the game or not, I thought the blue screen effect meant that I took a water wave to the face, but apparently it means that I hit the guy.
I like the ladders and bridges mechanic, makes for some interesting puzzles by themselves. I noticed the game sometimes detects that you completed the level before the entire level is painted.
great style and animations! i also think you should keep on working on it, keeping the one word idea!
Levels were designed well. Passing by enemies was also quite a challenge at the start, which I liked. A problem that I noticed is that my cursor can move off screen to the left and to the bottom a bit further than the actual screen boundary.
Great because of its simplism! I liked how the title and credits screen were also levels, somehow seemed to fit this. I thought it was kinda mean not to explain the red box until after you found out by yourself. :p
Thanks for the reactions people! I agree I should have put some restriction on how easily you can produce drinks or how you can just prepare way more than necessary beforehand. I'll take your suggestions into account should I ever feel like continuing this game. :)
The sound I finally got was hypnotizing as hell. I didn't really understand the mechanics, except that when placing objects/sound bytes, the progress bar filled faster. Maybe the point was that by facing more obstacles, we get further? Despite the game being odd and the instructiones being vague, I thought it was oddly attractive. I liked how the sound changed a bit near the end, didn't expect that.
Fun idea, generating RPG backstories. Some walls in the grassy world weren´t visible really well and I kept walking into them. Also, sometimes after generating a hero, the intro story doesn´t show up. I do believe that for your next Ludum Dare entry, you should try to save the music files in another format than wav (ogg perhaps) to reduce the download size.
Finally, having Matlab installed paid off!
Good job! Next time, spend a little more time on an ending screen and perhaps a tutorial screen. Level reloading was a bit buggy.
short but functional :)
The character control feels awkward, its too 'floaty' imo. The game works well, its nice to play a TD that you can get into really fast. Too bad you have to start over from the beginning as soon as you die once, would have liked an option to just replay the current level.
The audio was nice. I would have liked it if you could press jump while holding the run button, because that doesn't seem to work here at least.
Nice style, the levels were the right amount of challenging for the game to be fun. Good work!
Round 11 35k, good game!
The music synced perfectly with my playthrough, that made it really cool. I think I almost made it to the end but the game froze. Oh well, can only play once and I respect that. :P
Hey Cthulhu thanks for your comment on my entry! It seems I already played your game, it was one of the coolest experiences and I recommended it to some others. I got to around the part where the black was expanding (or I was zooming into the world) but then my time was up (sadly the game crashed, but I assume it was on the moment my time ended). I tried some ways to start the game again but alas. Nice touch ensuring that people can only play it once. :)
A pretty cool game once you get into the mindset of controlling the second direction of the boulder. The enemy AI worked really well for the gameplay.
Thanks for the comments guys! I found the bug and fixed it, it was caused by my attempt to round the score to two decimals... :)
Cool mechanic and I'm impressed you got it to work. I was a bit confused at the start, I thought the sudden jumps were caused by a bug, so I think next time you should focus more on explanation or more audiovisual cues for the time jumps.
Cool graphics with nice attention to detail. The silent background (with some noise, I think?) was really fitting.
Simple, short, to the point and an interesting idea. You managed to finish you game and I think that shows that you know how to plan for a game jam. I hope to see more of your stuff next jam!
I swear BIT HERD means something, its a herd... of bits, damn you game. *goes back to level select* Ooooh.
Graphics and sfx go together really well! Like the game, it was easy to understand and the texts were funny. Got to 8000 and I'm pretty proud of that. :P
Charming game, though I would have liked it if you could look farther ahead.
Simple, fun and damn you signs! Good work. :)
Creepy but funny concept. Nice level design! It was good that you introduced features exactly when they were needed (the jumpy things, the masks). The difficulty ramp was also nicely done. I detected a bug: not sure what triggered it but I chose the purple mask (walljump one) in the third level and fell down the level. I could still walk left and right even though my character was underneath the level, and the wall of fingers just passed by.
Nice graphic and music style, good work on the different art per stage and fun and challenging gameplay!
Cool atmosphere, was gathering data and got a nice surprise.
Audio was very funny (and fitting!). Nice and simple challenge, though I would have liked more visible bullets.
The atmosphere is done really well, like the darkness and the dripping water. One thing that put me off is that there is a sword in my hand, but no way to use it (I think?). Also some hallways are too dark, I found myself walking backwards (while looking at a light) just so that I could know whether I was still walking. Otherwise its so dark that you might be endlessly walking in a wall. I found the exit! Thats what I thought but when I looked around it seems like I stepped outside of level geometry. Is that supposed to be the exit or just an unintended hole in the level? :P
Very nice graphical style. I can imagine its fun to play together/against each other. Just would have liked a bit more feedback on when my hose is dousing the fire, just to know whether the water is hitting or not.
Nice levels and graphics, the idea was simple to understand (to me at least) once the first event happened. I got to the third screen, but couldn't get past the second spikes.
Nice work on the background graphics and on the running animation. Would have liked some more "control", as in often an arrow is still pretty far away but its too late to change the outcome. I also liked the reference to Otzi, you've come up with such a tragic interpretation. :)
Nice graphic, music and great models! My only advice is when transitioning between screens, put characters at a position so the player knows from which door or stair she came. Finished the game, was a fun challenge!
Very smooth experience, nice work.
The third level (excluding the start screen) was really hard, I just can't figure out how to do that one. :P Nice game.
Nice game, the ASCII format was a good choice for this. The level design is rather sadistic in a funny kind of way, I won't spoil anything.
like the concept of puzzle-solving by switching sides. Good use of the theme for a puzzle-mechanic. The platforming was a bit floaty but considering time good job.
managed to survive for awhile tough it took me awhile to figure out what to do exactly. wasn´t to sure why i could pick certain things up and couldn´t pick up others. bright colourscheme wich looked nice
nice management game. controls took a while to get used to. Placing buildings can be a bit confusing. Might be a bit better if you had a mouseover with their cost and name. none static starbackground would help improve navigation beside the minimap. Other then that pretty solid entry, good job!
this was a really fun game to play! the warping between spaces as connected worlds works nice as gameplay element. I died before i even hit the white line don't know if it's a bug or not. Anyway it's a very enjoyable entry
nice clean simple setup. very fun and enjoyable game.
At first i thought i was doing things wrong. nice way to tell a story.
Like the sense of humor gameplay was a bit lacking for me.
like the concept couldn´t finish the it. Challenging game. maybe it would be better to have the first level fixed so people can learn a bit about the behavior of that other "character". It seemed that most of the time it didn't follow me while i was going towards his exit. other then that good use of the theme and the game has a nice look and feel to it.
love the setting and visual novel style. haven´t find my way out yet. I encountered one ghost of an other player so it was a bit empty. Like the dark souls ghost concept tough
Like the setting love the art style. The game looks really neat and stylish. some minor problems with the white text not disappearing on white background. didn´t encounter anything gamebreaking. good job!
