Thanks for the Windows version, I was hoping to play this one! Nice approach to the theme! This is much more difficult than regular Minesweeper as you can't move everywhere :)

You should update your links here aswell, if i hadn´t read the comment i would have just skiped this amazing game because its not shown that you have a windows version.

The game is exactly what you expect and more! It gives minesweeper a totally new touch and makes a game forgotten for so long come back to life stronger than ever. Great work, one of the best games i played so far! :fireworks:

Thanks! I'll update the links!

Love this idea. My incompetence of minesweeper has never been as much of a problem as in this game, but I had a good time. The additional depth of needing to explore the grid in a way that left traversal options as open as possible lead to some interesting decisions. My suggestion would be some kind of two-stage cursor where the tile selection is constrained but the user can still move the mouse freely, as having it hijack my cursor didn't feel great to me. Thats a minor nitpick though, and overall a really great idea and very well executed!

tim-sims 2021-04-26 20:56

@aevek That's perfect feedback, it didn't feel great to me either, but your suggestion is great! That would also allow you to mark (right mouse button) blocks from farther away, which would be nice.

Love it! Really cool idea, You can sometimes get stuck in a hole with nothing but bombs around you but I guess that's just bad luck

threeli 2021-04-26 21:16

Best so far is 256 and here I go assuming I'll be playing this for some time to come. I have to mirror the comment made by @aevek would've like just a graphic representation of which tiles I can dig, as opposed to a cursor restriction but other than that I love it. I obviously haven't gotten very far (so there may be more) but I would love it if there were strata to get to. Even just little rooms to find or things to see as you get further down. Anyway, very cool idea!

tim-sims 2021-04-26 22:58

I've updated the input method! It's much easier to deal with now.

This is a very addictive game!! HAHA! Great job, it is so neat that i believe already is one of the best games in the jam, is so simple and cool, the sounds are very cool too.

Keep this up man! <3

This is awesome. Would love: - ability to place flags from any distance - locking flagged blocks from being mined. Otherwise its too hard to jump mine blocks precisely. Hi score: 1387

I could see this game being polished or even adding some non minesweeper additions like consumable items or a progression. Great feeling when you hit a cave opening and it crumbles in succession!

tim-sims 2021-04-28 15:52

@blob Thanks! That's great feedback! And nice high score!

An interesting mix of genres.

littlegamer 2021-04-28 16:15

Surprised this one does not have more rating. It's a very good idea ! It's challenging. Only thing that miss to me would be to put flags from at least a little distance, especially when a block became unaccessible from falling and you have to jump to reach it. The way score is calculated is interesting and seems balanced !

tim-sims 2021-04-28 16:25

@littlegamer Thanks for the feedback! The flag marking range is a common request, for sure. Thanks for the scoring feedback, I was wondering if it was good, cause going deeper doesn't get you much score right now.

Simple Idea, great implementation! I am a fan of the old windows minesweeper. The infinite digging part in dwarfsweeper makes it more challenging. You took something good and made it better! Now convince Microsoft to bundle your game with the next Windows Version.

dirkinz 2021-04-28 17:13

Ive seen minesweeper mixed with a lot of things but not platforming. Super cool idea.

fraukauz 2021-04-28 20:53

I never stumbled upon a Minesweeper mix/crossover until now and I am blown away :D

It fits the theme, its short, it's easy to learn and entertaining. The graphics are nice. Maybe some background music would make it complete.

I'm really bad at Minesweeper, so I mainly watched explosions, but it was fun.

Another suggestion would be to place the flags not on top of the blogs but on the center of the block, so that the flag is more visible in case it is placed on the block the miner is standing.

microchasm 2021-04-29 04:07

I love this! Great idea, great implementation. It makes all the difference in the world that the blocks are destroyed layer by layer and make a nice sound, and that when you blow up you bounce a bit. It's always a pleasure to see a game that does these details well. I like that you fall flat if you jump too far. I did have some bugs where I fell through the floor if the game hung frames when I was doing something process-intensive in another program, just mentioning in case it is a good bug report. The only gameplay issue that I had was that I would like to be able to jump higher, or climb. I feel like the point of the game is to figure out how to go deeper, rather than to deal with making holes to deep to get out of-- minesweeper depends so much on open corners, which you don't always have access to in holes. Overall though, this is one of the most memorable games in the jam so far.

hugimugi7 2021-04-29 12:26

Very interesting take on the theme, it's so staisfying to find a tile you brake exposes a huge area. I thought that the jumping wasn't necessary since you'll presumably go deeper. The sounds gave it a nice touch, but music would've been nice. Good job on finishing the jam!

tim-sims 2021-04-29 17:16

@microchasm, thanks! That's great feedback. I'm planning on expanding the game, so I think better movement options are a must!

@hugimugi7, I was thinking about finding a open source version of Hall of the Mountain King, but I ran out of time.

laurari 2021-04-29 19:21

Great idea, I think it is super creative, and I love the simple art to work with it. I'm so bad at Minesweeper so I'm always exploding, but I like it a lot. Could it be that sometimes the player cannot jump? I could not reproduce the issue, but it happened to me more than once. Just missing some music and a menu button after you die. Otherwise, great job

groggi 2021-05-01 23:12

I LOVE that idea and your execution.

The sounds are a bit weird. The jumping feels a bit weird. But everything else is just great. I dont know if this was intended, but I will give a high "humor" rating also. Mostly because of the death animation which made me laugh. :D

Really enjoyed this!

antontesh 2021-05-04 23:12

This was such an interesting concept! Nice job!
