Really clever mechanic. My one suggestion would be to make it so the player has a bit more control over their jump height (by how long they hold down the jump button), as that would allow the player to make more situations for themselves that are tricky to get out of, but not impossible (for example, right now, I don't think there's any way to deal with alternating single blocks and empty spaces, and it would be nice to be able to do a little short hop to go from tiny platform to tiny platform).
Really captures the feeling of that era of adventure games really nicely. Haven't figured out to do about my punch cards falling on the floor, though.
Thanks for letting me know! The problem should be fixed now. It wasn't throwing any errors inside the Unity editor, so I didn't catch it.
The game could do a better job of explaining how strafe, jumping works, and maybe put you in an environment where you can try it out without dying if you get it wrong. Also, there should be an option to play again when you die without having to go back through the menu.
That being said, the game has a really nice look to it.
Nice platformer! You've got some nice visuals going on here. I like the level transition. The spikes are a bit hard to read, though. I didn't even notice them at first, and there were a few bits where I just ran straight into spikes I didn't even notice were there.
Hm... I just found that gem you two were talking about. That gem is actually not supposed to be there, and may very well be impossible to get.
Thanks, everyone!
@jdmazz I'm not sure what you mean by always firing. You should only fire if you use the right analog stick or arrow keys. (Is it possible you had a controller plugged in and the right analog stick was pushed in a direction?)
