Overall I think I liked it. The mouse sensitivity is kinda high, but I got used to it. The biggest problem I had is that I always felt... Huge. I always seemed to get stuck on things that I felt I should be able to go through, which forced me to mine extra blocks to be able to pass through some areas, which combined with the mining being slow made this a little cumbersome. Also, the sameness of the lighting all over made it easily to get confused as to where I was.
The music and the overall mood was very good though.
Heh, heh. Really nice adventure! And great music!
Died at the boss (couldn't find a better strategy than just kiting him). Overall it was enjoyable, the controls are quick and responsive.
Hey everyone, thank you so much for the comments! We are really excited that a lot of people seem to like the concept.
Since quite a few asked about the endings.
1) You have to fail at getting any emotion out at least twice (indecisive ending)
2) "Good boy" ending if you have at least 3 times a good and "proper" emotion.
3) "Fed Up" ending is if you let the "evil" emotions 3 times.
4) The actual good ending, is if you get 2 "good" and 2 "evil". The idea behind it is that only if you balance your emotions properly (and that means letting your bad emotions out some times), you can have peace of mind.
Both Web and the Windows version links point to the Windows version. I'm on a mac right now, so sadly I can't play...
I also had trouble keeping the other shapes around. It seems if I wander a little further I never find other things to absorb.
Nice puzzler! The mechanics are solid.
I didn't really like the steps restriction. There could have been alternate solutions to some of the puzzles, but the steps limitation forces only one solution to be the correct one.
Maybe steps could have been used for some sort of score mechanic instead.
But I'm nitpicking, good job overall.
Pressing X doesn't work for some reason, wasn't able to play it... :/ music sounded really cool.
Awesome.
Great controls, the music was very catchy, effective graphics.
I am not crazy about the take on the theme, but whatever.
I was determined to finish it, but this level broke me : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/352261002/ld31.png
Overall though, pretty great!
Hmm... I can't seem to be able to rate it though. The ratings don't show up on the page...
@KrisDevelopment Yeah, it wasn't exactly a design choice, more like we didn't have time to implement skipping the text (or at least, being able to fast forward it), so I understand your pain.
It was on our todo list but in the panic of the last day and with some issues that arose we didn't get around to doing it. We'll probably do a post jam version at some point.
In any case, thanks everyone for the comments :D
@masterhyjinx Cheers :D
My writing is in general a bit direct and self-aware and meta, so with the concept we had I probably went a bit overboard :)
With the general light-heartedness of everything I was hoping it would come off as silly/charming.
About the bucket, I think there are a couple more hints scattered around (the villagers have a random chance to give you a hint, and if you try to get rocks twice, there is another hint there), but yeah the old man does give you the more direct instructions.
No Mac/Web build?
Looks interesting but I can't play it sadly, no windows machine nearby.
It looked pretty nice and was moody, but I hated that you can't control mid air at all. Made pretty simple jumps feel very harder than they needed to be.
Pretty cool. The controls were a tiny bit weird (I expected it to be more turn based, but it was realtime). Trying to move my snowmen around was a bit bothersome. I did get very into it though, making effort to play better.
All in all, it was pretty fun. Really enjoyed the music as well.
