Wow, really, really beautiful - hypnotic even.

You 'win' if you colour the whole map with your faction colour, but since it's an 'MMO' it won't stay that way for long. :)
@Zelen3d & Sergey Mohov: Yep, the state of the map is stored on a server and can be fought over by any players of the game. Every time you cycle back to the map from playing a map tile, it will refresh to the latest state. It would be cool to update the game to refresh the map in realtime so you see other players converting map tiles to their faction as it actually happens.
For some crazy reason, I thought this was completely awesome. I think mainly because it was completely unexpected and made me thing, and the solutions were fresh and non-obvious. A shiny, little gem of a game. I was imagining the author laughing at me as I madly bashed my keyboard and mouse figuring out the solution to each level.
What an achievement. This game's right up my street. My only complaint was that I found it hard to tell if something was a pickup or an enemy. Lots of trial and error, but really rewarding. Lots of depth. Please continue working on this. :)
Man, that is super-punishing. The guest appearance by the potato was sublime. :)
I'm a big fan of the 'select a level in-game' type of thing (in fact, I did the same in my game!). :) The level behind the viewpoint runs at very low framerate for me for some reason. Nice physics set pieces - very satisfying to take the rigid body stacks down.
Oooh, that rules editor is scary. It was quite hard to figure out what to do. Innovative concept though. Some nice humorous touches too!
Good concept. Music was very nice indeed. Controls were slightly fiddly - I kept jumping instead of aiming. I'm giving extra marks for the potato reference. :) Well done!!
I guess it's more of a physics demo than a game but it looks pretty. I think you need to shuffle your cube map faces so that the cube edges match up. It really wouldn't take much work at all to turn it into a two-player game. You shouldn't start looking into code up network multiplayer support - that'd be cool. Well done anyway. :)
A deeply moving production. In fact, it's one of the most emotionally charged 'games' I've ever played. Heartbreaking, but thanks for something truly memorable.
I like the hand drawn style. There's more depth to this game than at first appears - well done.
I love these kinds of game. I thought the three-fingered combat system worked really well, although (unless I was awesomely good) it seems like I couldn't die. The rooms near the end were a little to overpopulated with monsters. But apart from that, I loved the style and humour of the game. Even better than Trogdor, the Burninator.
Tried dropping the SWF into IE, Chrome and FF. No luck I'm afraid.
Most 'WTF' entry so far. :) Clearly, an awful lot of thought and work went into this. Very 'off the wall' and original. Well done! (BTW, I had to cheat a bit by reading the comments)
Extra marks for potato-related hi-jinx! Really fun to play - well done.
Wow. You've done it again, NuSan. You have the best eye for aesthetics of any Ludum Darer in my opinion. Beautiful - congratulations.
Excellent illustration of playing to the strengths of the web. Very original and inspirational. Well done!
Hi Fervir. So, it seems that if your frame rate dropped below 60FPS, the movement step was affected (silly logic bug in my code). I've patched the game, so if you clear your browser cache and play again, this should be fixed. :)
@Jesse111 Yeah! Exactly my thinking. I think it adds another dimension to have to remember where you've been. Maybe I could have made a trail toggable. Loving all the feedback, you crazy bunch!
@Uhfgood: Correct, you need Aurora or Nightly for that to work. Alternatively, the game works flawlessly in Google Chrome. (It mentions this in the notes...)
@TehSkull Have you never jumped up and down on your bed? Totally unnecessary. But FUN! :)
Fits the theme really well. I really did have minimal help to finish each level! :) One of those games that keeps me on edge - well done.
There need to be more Ludum Dare games about taking a shit. I found this really difficult! But it made me laugh, so I'm OK with that. :)
Is there a rating category for nihilism? :) Interesting take on the theme.
A great achievement for 48 hours. Fresh and original. Slightly hard to control but wonderfully weighty feel to the physics. Best I've played so far...
Congratulations on your first ever game! Choosing to go 3D is brave so well done. Maybe do an upgraded version with a 360 degree firing mechanic using the mouse?
Funniest entry I have played by a mile. Quite fiendish in places too - very proud to have made it to one of the later levels. Would love it if you wrote some kind of blog entry about audio production in the game (what HW/SW did you use to get such great quality video-gamey sounding voice-overs). LOVE! IT!
It seems the game's link is now dead. Can you restore it please? Would love to play it!
I liked this and played all the way to the end (took me 9 minutes). I thought it fitted the theme really nicely (I did a Mondrian based game too!). Difficulty and progression were well pitched. Locking spin speak to one axis would make things a little easier perhpas. Well done!
Minimaltastic! This is a minimal comment.
Very impressive! One of my favourites so far. Well done! I wish I could compose music like that.
I think this is my favourite game so far. The level of polish is sublime. I guess the only thing I'd say is that sometimes I felt I failed simply because I couldn't gauge the perspective - if the ball clipped the side of a block, it was difficult to tell that I had to compensate to keep the ball in play. But minor criticism - looooooove it.
This was a good, solid entry. I love horror games (weird because I hate horror movies) and so this really appealed to me. So I found object selection a bit tricky. And I was killed in the lounge and I don't think I got enough warning about what I should have done to avoid it. Very atmospheric though. Well done!!
Cute graphics - loved the big dino chasing you down. I reckon you should speed up the action a bit and pull the camera back perhaps. Well done - nice entry!
Congratulations! This is the first game that's made me laugh out loud. :) My natural instinct was to initially ignore all the nice things and just hurt myself. It seems that was the plan all along. Love it.
Lovely - you've conjured a great aesthetic here. I just wish it was longer (but that's a good thing, right?) :)
The audio is the star here. It really shows how easily a player can be put on edge. Nicely done!
Well done MrBlade. Considering you're 14 and this is your first entry to LD, you should be very proud of yourself. Although there's only one level, you have the foundation to build more levels very quickly. Good that you got a moving platform in there. Little tip: put some audio in, even if it doesn't sound great (like a jump noise, and a potato pick up noise). Check out http://www.bfxr.net/
Very slick - really loved it and can imagine the replay potential is huge! Well done.
Really enjoyed this. The switching mechanic was fun although having to completely restart on losing one life is a little severe. Graphics are stunning! Didn't see the connection with the theme. Overall: thought it was fab!
Wow, a lot going on in this game! Amazing to get so much done in the time... Any chance of a source link?
I really enjoyed this. I got about 10 minutes in and then my brain fried so I gave up (I blame this on Ludum Dare sapping all my energy). Pushing blocks was slightly awkward - would be cool to lock on rather than slip to the side. Nice clean graphics. Great submission - well done.
Nice concept - I think the audio + graphics = great mood. An early menu is 50% offscreen on my machine for some reason. I just see 'PAY ATTENTION....SEARCH FOR....". Interesting to see you used WebGL. Source link?
It's impressive you can create such a tense atmosphere with simple geometric primitives. Really polished and well thought out.
I think this is the first Ludum Dare game I've played where I've been able to re-enact my real world life. No, seriously. Loved it - very fun, and cool to see the first PlayCanvas game with voxel-esque graphics.
I think you're onto something with this. It's really hard to get fighter mechanics to feel good but this was fairly challenging. Sliding low kick seems unblockable for the AI though. You should definitely iterate this - maybe a 2.5D fighter?
Interesting physicsy gameplay. I think the bodies were set to be too light with too little friction. Kind of impossible to get over about 7 bodies stacked. The foundation for a fun game though - well done. BTW, I was occasionally getting terrible framerate (0.5FPS), and a profile just showed all the time in the Box2D solver. Not sure if you saw that at all yourself.
Fun game with some nice, radioactive graphics. :) Not too aligned with the theme...but hey, I had an awesome time driving around! Car seems to get caught on the up-ramps which was a bit frustrating. And the cars suspension was a bit bouncy. Otherwise, great job - well done!!
Just got back from the hospital after my seizure.
Good solid effort in pretty much all categories. One suggestion I have is to add some cute sound effects. e.g. When a raindrop falls on the rock, you hear a hiss and an 'aaaahhhhhhh' sound. Things like that show kids that the rock is hot. Well done.
The link appears to be down... :(
I completed your game! Hurrah! This is what it must feel like to be Luke Skywalker. Great art style. Hangs together really well. Wish it was a bit longer though - but that's a good thing! :)
For a first try, you've done a great job!! I got my other half to play this with me - it's fun! I like the lighting - nice and atmospheric.
Maybe post-competition, try add a single player mode and program a CPU AI.
Well done!
Nice entry. I kept failing on the strength test level so an immediate retry key would be good. Once you've read the game over screen, you don't read it again and you have to wait for the fade in/out. Music was really good! Well done. :)
I think the art style is great. 3 hours? OK, so it's not perfect but what an achievement for such a short time. If you spend the whole weekend on your next LD entry, it'll be spectacular. :)
Really great. I think the audio is the star here with the graphics a close second. Slickly executed. I suspect this will place very highly indeed! Well done. :o) I agree with the comment about the cube grid at the end - wasn't sure whether I was supposed to avoid or collide.
Ah, one of my favourite Ludum Darers. It's the first 2D game I've seen you do. Drawing all of those sprites must have taken a long time! Well done!
@Kvisle I use an edge detect post processing filter that is described here: http://rastergrid.com/blog/2011/01/frei-chen-edge-detector It's actually built into the PlayCanvas API so it's fairly easy to switch on in a game.
As for the Physics, PlayCanvas integrates a physics engine called ammo.js. It's a JavaScript port of the open source C++ physics engine Bullet. Not sure if you noticed, but the simulation initially appears 2D, but it's actually 3D. I just constrained the truck to 2D but allow things like the crates to move freely in 3D. That's why it's quite satisfying to smash through them. :)
@NuSan Yeah, it can fall on its back quite easily, but it's up to you whether you take the jumps quickly or not. That creates greater risk for greater reward! :)
@mize_VS_mildmojo I totally agree with you 100% on all those points! You have a very keen eye. Basically, I just ran out of time during the jam, but hopefully I'll be able to make a post jam version at some point soon. Thanks so much for the compliments! :o)
@almightysuit 690m? Crap, you beat my all-time best! :)
That's brilliant, Jupiter! Thanks so much for including ACCELERally! :o)
This is really, really good. You're really onto something with the mechanic here. It's very difficult right from the get go, but once you understand what's going on, it's really fun. Congratulations on a very original idea and please do continue to develop it! :)
A simple but fun mechanic. I do a fondness for physics based games. If I had one suggestion, it would be to add more levels because I finished it quite quickly. But you've got the structure for a great game - well done!
A classy entry from a pro. Well done!
There's something deeply satisfying about be chased down by a hoard of rabid cubes. Cool, I like it! By the way, if you like making FPSs for the web, check out PlayCanvas (I built my LD game with it). Hope you get time to work on your game some more - it's fun!
Awesome. Simulated charity is even more fun than real charity!
Good game! Interesting mechanic - lovely use of light and shadow. I think you can make a really atmospheric top down survival horror game like this - just add creepy audio. :) Well done!
Solid well-rounded entry. I didn't quite get the connection between the items in the inventory and the different characters so I ended up just using a trial and error strategy, and planning a route which would hit the fewest blockers. More levels would be cool. Well done. :)
This is a really original take on the theme. Well done! Would have loved some audio - do you know about http://www.bfxr.net/. It's a really quick way to get audio FX that would suit this game very well. Great use of WebGL. Are you using Empscripten to port C++ code?
The audio was really nice! Well done on that!!
Nice idea - the 'how far can you travel' concept is similar to my game. Good choice to go with HTML5. Well done on a fun but hard game! :)
Well done for showing how a client-server design can really lift a game. Great idea. It's inspired me to add a server component to my next LD game. Nice clean art style. I scored this really high for innovation. Hurrah!
I love me some hot centipede action!
What an amazing talent you have. Thank you for the game.
Very good entry indeed. I particularly liked the visuals. The water and the darkening of the background to show the player character. And the physics worked well too. I might have made it slightly less floaty (higher gravity), but then that kind of went well with the ethereal feel of the game. Congrats. :)
I hadn't heard of Elm before - interesting. Definitely right to choose WebGL. Do continue to develop this idea - looks promising!
Cool, uber-retro! I defused the bomb!! Great use of WebGL. BTW, if you like making WebGL games, check out PlayCanvas (I used it for my game).
A nicely polished game. Hard to gauge depth and I would have lurved to hear a Christmassy jingle in the background. Otherwise, a merry old time was had playing this baby. :)
Hilarious. Best game I've played so far. Absolutely genius. The game I made in the Simulator is better than my game! :o)
DaredevilDave waves his game dev wand once more and brings a little magic into our lives. This is the awesomest game you've made EVAH.
Great first try at making a web game. I should check Dart out some time soon. Seems to be getting popular. The 3D menu is good. Music works well - what did you use to compose it? I need to find better audio tools! :)
This was cool. RTS is my favourite genre. I destroyed 10 enemy units. Is it possible to 'win'? Impressive achievement for the time.
@mize_VS_mildmojo If you find it hard to be productive with HTML5/WebGL, check out PlayCanvas (I used it for my game). It essentially like Google Docs for making WebGL games.
Very nice, well done. You should work on getting this up and running on mobile - would be cool to see how a touch interface would feel. Smart choice to use WebGL!
Such detail in the pixel art! It was quite hard to see what was going on - but quite hypnotic overall. Music is great.
I'm finding it hard to figure out what to do actually. I can cycle through the characters, and one can get in (who has the ticket), but the other two get caught. I'm feeling a bit stupid. :) Hint?
I like this a lot. Any game that frustrates to the point of wanting to quit and then think 'I'm clearly being stupid' and persevere must be doing something right! I got all o' them eagles! I like some of the techniques you used when rendering: nearest filtering and you actually clip the eagles to the light sphere. Super cool. :)
Awesome. Very original use of PlayCanvas.
Interesting concept. Reminds me of playing Painter when I was a kid on my BBC Micro. :) All I'd suggest is that the cutter could be sliiiightly faster, but other than that a really well executed puzzle game.
Very nice - you have the structure in place to generate lots more levels now. I found it hard to remember which direction both blocks were facing at first, but then I realised that that was part of the challenge. Good job and a nice use of WebGL!
Delightful. Well done. It wasn't clear to me if you just run roots by water and ammonium or whether you have to drag the mouse into them. Roots didn't draw over the top of those blocks so I assume it's the former. Great little game - very original. Well done!
Yay! Someone else who did a sub game! Your sub is very satisfying to control with nice particle trail. Missile are maybe a bit tricky to fire against the fast moving sharks but if you wait until the last moment to shoot, it's easier. Nicely done - I hope you continue with this project post-LD!
Things I liked: mood, physics, minimal art style. Orienting the viewpoint could get tricky when jumping on the blocks that send you into the air. Cool use of WebGL. Very nice, well done! :)
I'm not sure why, but the frame rate was super-low on my laptop, and the move speed was maybe tied to the framerate? Anyway, I could jump, duck and dodge OK. Reminded me of the Star Wars Death Star Run game. :) Nice idea. Well done.
The terrain is quite beautiful - graphically, you've done a great job here. I found I kept pressing SHIFT hoping that I would move faster. I think doubling the move speed would make the game much more playable. But other than that, congrats - well done. :)
This game is the bee's knees, honey!
Any game I finish is good in my book. Well done, Spencer! The narration really sets the mood beautifully. Who needs a score, timer, etc when the atmosphere of a game is so engaging. Congrats.
Really solid entry with lovely visuals. You have a real talent there. Interestingly, I joined Criterion around the time Sub Culture came out - and they then went on to release Deep Fighter. I didn't work on those games though - I was building RenderWare. And now my game is about salvaging in a submarine too! ;o)
Wow, this is a very similar concept to my game. :) I couldn't find all the amphora - good fun though. I would recommend adding some particles or other effects to make it seem more like you are underwater. Great entry - well done.
Great job for 5 hours! Cutesy art and a superb game name. I'm intrigued what the game would have been like if you'd used the full 48 hours. The mind boggles. :)
Difficulty ramps up quickly but that's OK. Gameplay was addictive and gets really frenetic. Well done, I reallly enjoyed it.
Aiiiii! I'm really good at drowning in this game! Super hard but hard to resist trying again - very addictive. Nice cutesy graphics. A difficulty curve might help a bit but other than that, really great entry. Well done!!!
This is a really well-rounded entry. I didn't last very long though. The time it takes to get from one side of the screen to the other is quite high. I love the underlying message of the game. Well done - this is what LD is all about. :)
This is a great entry. You could totally elaborate on this idea and have an indie hit on your hands. Love it. :)
Nicely composed music - fits the game really well. I found the length of the jump mirrored the length of the platforms a bit too closely. Very, very hard game! :) But very cool. How about pulsing some of the visuals in response to the music? Would be a nice effect.
You've found an intriguing visual style here and it's not something I recall seeing before, so congratulations on the originality. I think you could definitely make the gameplay more challenging. A great job though - well done!
This is awesome - just my kinda game. :) Superhard, but I'll have a go with the post-compo version. The sentries need to be a bit beefier. Well done!!
Reminds me of Vector, one of my favourite mobile games (check it out if you haven't seen it). Well done!
This is definitely my favourite LD game made with PlayCanvas. Very cool!! So polished.
Simple but addictive - nicely done - especially since this is your first LD game made with PlayCanvas! Can't wait to see the post-compo version!
Wonderful - love it! Good job, team!
@Lizzip: The sausages were just a ruse to disguise my true goal of developing the most incredible tongue the world had ever seen. I apologise for the deception.
@miwuc It doesn't game over randomly. The two game over conditions are: the tongue hits a hornet and you miss too many flies and the beast starves (he gets very skinny!). Thanks for the feedback. I did giggle when I developed the bug on tongue action.
I love this. I'm sporting a wry smile as I type. Congrats - you entertained me. Now, back to my smartphone...
I was promised dragons, there were no...
Oh wait. There was a dragon.
So this is really cool - well done. But wait, I'm the pirate. Shouldn't I be the monster? My strategy was to flick between one cannon and the wheel rapidly. I couldn't see a way to use multiple cannons and still win. Anyhoo, loved it!
Great concept - I love typing-based games (Typing of the Dead anyone?). :D All you need is more games and I'd be sitting here playing for a lot longer. Good job!
Spectacular. You are very talented. This is the best game I've played so far.
Particlicious! Nice job. :D
You deserve serious kudos for the most quickly made LD entry I've ever seen!
Great first entry and well done for flying solo! Good decision to go with WebGL! Maybe look at Ammo.js in the future for full vehicle physics (PlayCanvas uses it as the internal physics engine). Great job! :D
Crikey, that's difficult! But I kept coming back for more! :) Good job!
Awww, this is so cute. I love the hand drawn art style! Wonderful. Kinda wish it was longer - I completed it on my second attempt. The fire breathing sound effect was my favourite part! Good job.
