LD28 — You Only Get One

Life: The Cynical-Hipster-Tetris Version by Tim Kaldor 2013-12-16T22:22:00

Really enjoyed this one - excellent. Your lack of witty remarks early in the morning was witty in and of itself! You have my twitter patronage also. It made me laugh and think. This is what Ludum Dare games should be like.

Point&Click Concept by joekinglake 2013-12-16T21:59:00

Interesting atmosphere - you've captured that really well. Not sure about how much it ties in with theme though....

Point&Click Concept by joekinglake 2013-12-16T22:00:00

I also immediately thought of Another World's opening scene when I first saw it - not a bad thing!

Who cares YOGO? by bukt 2013-12-27T18:21:00

Cool mechanic with good music and very nice sprite graphics. I feel that you could have tried one or two more ideas with the 'remove one and let it all fall down' idea - maybe remove one at a time multiple times. i.e. remove 1 then let it fall, remove another let it fall etc.? Nice little score chasing game - you could really do something with this in the future I reckon. Could be a good mobile game. Good stuff.

Carnage by MrAmazingSocks 2013-12-16T21:54:00

Couldn't see my own shots. Couldn't see enemy shots. Couldn't see why I was dying.

Doki Doggie by Husky 2013-12-27T18:07:00

Level design is a little plain and lots of the collision doesn't work between the bad guys and our intrepid doggie, but I liked the mechanic and the interpretation of the theme! Music was cool as well, and I actually like the dog's animation.

Flowing Death Fist by turnA 2013-12-16T14:44:00

Quite a cool concept - can see this working on iPhone and tablets pretty well. But the fact that it wasn't really a game - but an autonomous tech demo, is a let down. Still, I do really thing you have a great idea here. Like I said - could be great for mobile.

O.N.E. Says by NightShadow0 2013-12-27T18:40:00

Fun idea, not sure how it relates to the theme really. But it's an interesting and enjoyable mechanic in short bursts and would be good for educational minigames. Great music and graphics for 48 hours!

Ye Only Get One Aye by TaleLore 2013-12-16T14:54:00

Excellent humour! Love your vocals! Yaaarrrgh!

YOLO: You Only Legit Once by JuhaTheMan 2013-12-16T14:15:00

Good comical game. But you need instructions in your description - took me a few goes to work out how to keep him moving! Excellent sound and graphics.

Desperado by ShellfishGames 2013-12-16T14:21:00

Good game! This could make a decent basis for a multi-player game in the future. Good music and array of weapons.

One Pixel Games by plancien 2013-12-16T14:08:00

Good idea, but only Game A worked (made random sounds). All zooms didn't work and other hotspots didn't work. Testing in Chrome on Windows 7 64-bit. Would have liked it all to work for me - creative take on the theme!

Miss Red by Daniel Debert 2013-12-16T14:04:00

Graphics are very pretty - lovely shadows and smoke effects. Unfortunately, main mechanic (cloaking) doesn't work in practice and most levels are uncompletable. Solid idea for further development though!

One Earth, One Defender by Mental Atrophy 2013-12-27T18:47:00

I don't think it's as bad as you make out. It's not really tied to the theme and not incredibly innovative, but the graphics were nice (particularly the particle effects) and the sounds that were there were enough to spice up gameplay. Most importantly, the controls with just the mouse felt really good and surprisingly precise. Still a good effort.

Element Fighter by smash ball 2013-12-27T18:00:00

Download error from file host.

Our Story by CarlsonAndPeeters 2013-12-16T14:40:00

Outstanding! Excellent design and great use of the theme. I totally enjoyed playing this - well done!
One small thing - bug in the room with 7 torches. I needed to light the end ones before the first ones for some reason.

Apart from that was great - excellent use of mechanics and minimal writing to tell a story.

Lost in Universe by Doubstract 2013-12-16T14:25:00

Getting "Invalid or Corrupt .jar file", so can't play :-(.

Windows 7 64-bit, Java updated appropriately.

The Day the Laughter Stopped by Crabman 2013-12-16T00:02:00

Inklewriter?

The Day the Laughter Stopped by Crabman 2013-12-16T15:19:00

Excellent entry. Good writing and good handling of a nasty topic. Good twist near the end.

Shades of One by tommakesgames 2013-12-16T15:25:00

Yeah, I agree chardish. I ran out of time a little to finesse the writing or build a couple more levels for better pacing. But hey, 48 hours you know? ;-D Thanks for playing and thanks for feedback.

Shades of One by tommakesgames 2013-12-16T15:56:00

Cheers capnramses for feedback. Yeah, it's difficult to think about how other people are going to play it once you've playtested it a million times! Glad you liked the rest though.

Shades of One by tommakesgames 2013-12-29T19:19:00

Sorry about the troubles with platforms - it's a hard line to tread without playtesting how hard a game is. I think if I was doing something similar in the future I'd make it easier! But many thanks for the feedback - it's all good!

Hasher by hasher 2013-12-27T17:29:00

Didn't download - for Windows I had to go through a ton of spam messages and windows. I'm not sure if that's what you intended, but that's what happened. Can I suggest that if you'd like people to play and rate your game then you use a free cloud solution like Dropbox and share the public link?

One by bodsey 2013-12-27T18:15:00

Nice feel to it, but it was difficult to get started - no controls given, what am I meant to do?, how do I jump higher? what is the progression? etc. Music was nice and set the mood for the message, but struggle to find the gold coins and jump higher probably stops people really getting in the mood for what you're saying.

Having said that, it's REALLY hard (impossible?) to gauge the difficulty for this kind of game in 48 hours (I know I probably didn't....!) and it's commendable that you didn't do a game involving bullets, lives and killing (neither did I actually). Well done!

Monoskill by Smitty333 2013-12-27T17:50:00

Solid effort. Could have used some more explanation on how to use the skill swapping (which was kind of the point of the game). But good graphics and great music and it controlled pretty well.

One Arrow by bugninja 2013-12-16T18:29:00

No problems running it in browser.

Nice idea. Like the ammo recovery idea. Sounds would have made a big difference and more more frequent encounters with zombies - found it a little slow paced. But I really like the high score idea for more skillful play - good job!

Fucking Run by BarrensZeppelin 2013-12-16T13:56:00

Doesn't run on Windows 7 64 bit. Error says, "Can't start because MSVCR120.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".

LD37 — One room

Santa Claus by victorcrafty 2016-12-13T15:14:00

Graphics were quite fun! But it was a little too repetitive. Not sure the theme was done too well here. Anyway, well done for taking part, and at least it had a Christmas theme!

Lily's Adventure by resty 2016-12-13T15:09:00

Actually started not liking it but then grew to play through to the end! Once I realised how all the teleportation stuff worked, I was into it. You needed to make this clear in the game - it's a bit difficult to read this all on the description before you start. I had to go back and re-read a couple of times.

Well done, and I think you should develop this idea further. Real promise here. I like the goal of getting the 'one room' onto the pads to take you to different rooms. Kind of like a partial Tardis! Good spin on theme and well done.

Interdimensional Chrono Janitor Service by foolmoron 2016-12-14T17:09:00

Nice concept and a quick bit of fun! Could see this developing more, quite easily. Physics is pretty satisfying as well! Well done!

Escape Pod by creativwhisper 2016-12-13T14:53:00

Interesting idea, but more or less impossible to control. If you had done a kind of click and drag type of controls (rather than clicking) for the hand pulls, then that would have given enough control to make it playable.

However, I really think you should develop the idea - it's a good one.

Note - web link doesn't work for me. Windows 10 in Chrome.

Well done.

LD38 — A Small World

liftoff by Remco 2017-05-18T17:01:37Z

I like the way you have fast action going between planets with quick selling. This could make a nice arcade game - and if you made it multiplayer I think you'd be onto something. It's a shame you can't win this one - only lose. But the graphics and sound were cool and it's pretty complicated for just a jam so well done. Main problem is that flying the ship is really quite difficult!

The Hungry Planet by madalaski 2017-05-18T16:13:51Z

Excellent idea. Good work with the music and sounds which although basic, seemed to work well. It's a shame that you can't really tell which rocks are bigger or smaller than you most of the time - which makes it a little unplayable. But if polished this could be an excellent web or mobile game!

Lottery: you judge them I judge you by doppelgunner 2017-05-18T16:53:40Z

Nice concept, kind of let down by execution. I'm also not sure what ending I got! Sword first time...something else the next - couldn't make it out! But I like the idea - although I'm not sure if it really follows the theme (not that it matters to some people). Thanks for making this.

Vertical City by LiamLime 2017-05-18T16:24:02Z

It's a shame there's no space for 'technical impressiveness', because to be one person and do this in 48 hours is quite something! It's a shame that this is a complicated genre, and the game is quite slow. I like the theme spin - although it's a little obvious. Well done.

Invaders of Yekithar by skippuku 2017-05-18T16:35:35Z

Moves nicely and it's got good pace to it.

Leucos by Harry Alissavakis 2017-05-18T16:07:49Z

Nice. Really enjoyed the graphic style and it felt nice to play. Impressive for 48hrs!

Recognition by maysick 2017-05-18T16:45:56Z

Thought this was cool. Interesting that you used the small world for constraints in where to build - that's a nice interpretation of the theme. Liked the messages as time went on! A little bit of sound would have gone a LONG way here next time, but I played again until the end and enjoyed it! Well done for 48hours work!
