In fullscreen mode mouse input had an incorrect offset of about 500px to the right. Also I didn't realize you had to click objects rather than the floor to move, so was confused until I tried windowed mode where it worked.
That aside it was funny and caught the pretentious business mood in every way. The atmospheric office background track was a nice touch. Great job.
Examining the hotdog made me chuckle, nailed it with the theme, fun and humour.
Not sure if it was me doing something silly, but it seemed to take several clicks to break out of the text/convo mode, which was a bit jarring.
Good to see another Haxe coder, I see more and more every time.
I've been up for too long... I'm stuck at the bit where you repair the hoverbike. Incredible work though, I like the graphical style.
WASD / Arrow keys isn't moving the guy for me using Chrome 44.0.2403.155 m on this page... If I go straight to the game at http://huvaakoodia.github.io/LD33_2015_WEB/ that works though.
Decent idea, shame you didn't have time to add more in the time. I'll be sure to try your post-jam game :)
I like the camera shake, gives the weapons a nice punchy recoil feel.
Also crashing on my system (Windows 10) on the disclaimer screen (unzipped it, hit space, window closes).
Really funny, the text attack descriptions were great. Wish there was more though, like a little world map where you attacked human trainers in the grass or something :)
Can't run it :(
Getting this error when I click the .exe: "The procedure entry point __telemetry_main_return trigger could not be located in the dynamic link library *the path to monstershader.exe*"
Yeah the web link is pointing to Twitter. Looks amusing from the screenshots though...
Jesus Christ how horrifying. Your score: 42190.
Funny and fits the theme well. The idea reminds me a bit of Haunting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5EVBk81UMU&t=6m40s - would be interesting to know what you'd have taken this if you had more time.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll put up a debug version of the game that makes the sky shader parameters manually tweakable soon.
Also drat, that bug... I think that's owing to the mouse picking up some "examinable" object that shouldn't be there when the camera jerks between screens. Oh well!
Thanks, clarified that in the description - it's narrative. There was some plans for bullet hell, but ran out of time trying to make the particle pooling less wasteful.
Thanks, glad you like how it looks as I was quite nervous working with let's say... limited artistic abilities.
I just updated the game to hopefully fix the text disappearing bug. Reading the submission FAQ I'm gathering that's OK for annoying little things like that.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.
Adding a scroll-back text history would have been a good idea. Agree just having one line visible at the bottom isn't great. I tried using the tweening text shown at the intro sequence for all the narrative text at first, but the problem was that every letter was a 3D mesh, and so I figure that would require recycling/pooling of meshes to perform well. With more time I would have done that.
Next time I'll put more time aside to get proper gameplay in and working.
Thanks all. I will look at Howler.js, as it's Haxe it's simple to generate externs if nobody has before.
Agree the particle effects were a little basic, simple graphics and basic physics. Would have used noise or some sort of flow field with some more time.
Rendered in the web player fine for me with Firefox 40.0. Quite like what you did with the shaders. Also very impressive amount of content for a 48 hour game, but I also found myself getting a bit lost because of that, that's not such a bad thing though.
Excellent game. Loved how eating creatures restored your health, it got really intense in later levels because of that mechanic. Graphics, music, everything set a fitting atmosphere.
I also didn't realize about double jumping at first.
Got killed by a golden chicken on my first try! Really cute fox sprite and dialogue. Also good amount of content for 48 hours.
This also brings back Sim City-like nostalgia for me, pretty funny too.
Lasted 29 days before I started a war with South Korea. Funniest match-3 game ever and perfect idea for the theme.
One of the funniest games so far this jam :)
Solid gameplay and good graphics + mood using that simple silhouette of the hills. Procedural terrain is also a nice touch, that's something I'll have to try next time.
Love the oversize grim reaper/death knight boss, and the knight in his pants was hilarious.
Best entry I've seen so far. Literally nothing to criticize, 5/5 through and through.
Great scene and mood, solid all round. Impressed by the load time, that's a nice lightweight custom engine.
Only negative is that it froze up at 1hp for me with "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'position' of null" during my first game, but I played more and it was fine.
Thanks all. I'll try to get the text shader working and clean this up sometime to get the intention across.
What browsers and input/mouse/touch are people who can't get input using? And ah, touch input isn't in actually, noted that.
Great mood and perfect fit for the theme. Quite touching too. Nice job!
The fast scrolling foreground and all made for a great sense of motion. Cute concept and graphics too.
It's a shame you can't really time your jumps for stuff in the air because of the window size, but it's fun in any case.
I like the cutesy art style, the contrast with the blood/particle explosions made me laugh out loud when I killed the first bunny. And definitely bonus points for the awful bear puns.
Took a moment to figure out what was going on, due to the low contrast between things like the path and stuff in the background. Apart from that I really liked it!
