Ugh, pretty hardcore. Good entry! :)

yohadams 2025-04-07 16:12

Very interesting game.. nice smooth falling animation, it's simple game and concept but sound design and "noodles" make me anxious when playing xd

tad-i-guess 2025-04-07 17:38

I love this smiling star creature they make me so happy. I even love these ghouls and the disgusting sounds they make, adds to the off putting music. Had a smile on my face from start to finish, loved everything about this.

googlypoo 2025-04-08 02:18

This felt like a fever dream. I was audibly saying "WTF is this" :laughing:

The star is relatable to me. Sometimes I try to do things too, but noodles.

Well animated, cool music. I like how it got more intense as it went down. Good job :clap:

ngryyyyy 2025-04-08 14:46

Great gaaaame ! I wasn't ready for the music aha Great job on this Jam !

follusior 2025-04-08 14:52

@scrawach @yohadams @tad-i-guess @googlypoo @ngryyyyy Thank you for your feedbacks

whateverdat 2025-04-08 15:10

Great music!

atsh 2025-04-08 15:18

Great mood, fitting music, creepy graphics and sounds, and nice effects and animations

I would try and improve the playabilty a bit, the controls and performance are not the best, and it's seem like the game is just going down, which is a bit basic

But really again, the athmosphere here is very well done!

hnkxobka 2025-04-08 15:21

Woah, cool rough style and the animation is awesome!

jester1454 2025-04-08 15:43

what a weird game, i liked it! cool obscure atmosphere and graphics, i liked the music the most. the animation when you get eaten is really creepy. cool!

torte478 2025-04-08 16:53

I both want and don’t want to know how you made the monster sounds =) Brilliant, stylish, and brutal art paired with great music. An excellent game!

paroxysmal 2025-04-08 17:12

Interesting graphics and sound leads to a cool atmosphere. Well done.

zirrrus 2025-04-08 17:40

Weird, cool weird. Great art and sound!

follusior 2025-04-08 17:59

@atsh What do you mean and how would you improve it? Thanks for the feedback:)

atsh 2025-04-08 18:42

@follusior I played it again now and noticed the music does develop, which is really nice!

However, other then that I didn't really feel I was progressing - the enemies stay the same, and so was the difficulty I think, and there were no new things to see, or even a simple depth meter with high score

You have a really unique art style and vibe for the game, and I would like to see more of it :)

dhim 2025-04-08 19:13

Whaou, so spooky, immediately. From the beginning, I wanted to have nothing to do with those moths/creatures, and I was going down with all my soul! I still have the chills!

Nice to see you have used GitHub for hosting the source code. I am making a list of compo games that use Github, I have starred and added your repository to it: https://github.com/stars/dhmmasson/lists/ludum-dare-57-compo.

I have created badges for the readme that you can use: ``` Ludum Dare Ludum Dare ```

Consider using these **topics** to make your Ludum Dare entry more discoverable: - `game` - `game-development` - `ludum-dare` - `ludumdare` - `ludumdare57` - `ludum-dare-57` - `ld57`

echerry 2025-04-08 19:40

The game has a very interesting mood and makes you want to keep playing! but I would like to see deeper mechanics with that mood

ibandurist 2025-04-09 00:32

This game is really well done in terms of sound! I really liked the animation of the main character, with his heavy metallic clang like a bolt on an aluminum bowl, and the sound of the monsters' slime. It's a very impressive project!

teist 2025-04-09 02:46

Nice game! Could really benefit from enemies indicators though

follusior 2025-04-09 06:22

@atsh Thanks a lot, you're right:0

follusior 2025-04-09 06:31

@dhim Thanks, I'll use it.

follusior 2025-04-09 06:35

@echerry You're right, it's not enough.

follusior 2025-04-09 06:39

@ibandurist Thank you, it feels good.

follusior 2025-04-09 06:41

@teist Yes! I was just really afraid to make a mistake with the difficulty and playability.

teist 2025-04-09 06:55

@follusior For the rating phase on a game jam, I think you should prioritize playability over difficulty: you want a max of players to enjoy your game, and balancing difficulty can be quite challenging and time consuming

After replayed your game and further reading the comments, I did realized you did an awesome work on the sounds! congrats!

ntmalichi 2025-04-09 07:14

By far the best audio design entry in this jam! And I was willing to say that before even reaching the change of phase at the end of the game! Really beautifully done!

mcramon 2025-04-09 16:09

Damn sound, music and visuals really set the mood! Gameplay is simple but that means it's easy to understand and get into playing from the first or second try. Well done!

helagos 2025-04-09 18:20

Wow, i loved the atmosphere of your game ! Graphics, musics and sounds matches very well togother. It's on of the most singuliar game i test on this jam, well done !

jeremyfa 2025-04-09 21:00

This game is weird in a very good way, I love it! Found it punishing that you die on one mistake, but still managed to reach the core so I guess it's alright :D Great job!

budster16 2025-04-09 21:07

Made it to the core on my second try, died on the first to falling on top of an enemy. it's a nice simple game that can definitely be expanded upon.

mikeliosus 2025-04-09 23:30

Wow, put Necronomicon down :D Monosnap Star in The Core _ ldjam.com _ Ludum Dare.png

It feels so weird, but consistent! Good job!

By the way did you used AI to make animations/art? I just wondering were you able to get this level of weardness by hands or is it with an AI instrument

gargantuan-janitor 2025-04-10 02:35

Very nice. Music and general mood are 10/10. I feel a better camera would have done wonders for this game, made it much less or a gamble to fall down. Otherwise, very solid for what it is.

aynu 2025-04-10 06:18

Supper nice I like the graphics and it is so good like I see a nice opportunity for this game. Good luck Soldier!

texugo 2025-04-10 12:14

This is creepy and weird in a good way. Missed feeling some more sense of objective, but it was still interesting and vibey! Congrats on the game!

follusior 2025-04-10 15:19

@mikeliosus Thanks for the feedback, no AI was used here.

the3rdhunter 2025-04-11 03:15

Damn I love this game. This is art! It's like if Lucio Fulci made Atari games. The star is great. The monsters are awful and I hate the sound of them. The visuals of hell are painterly and beautiful. The soundtrack builds so well and fits so perfectly. I love the feeling when you're falling and you're hitting just that right wiggle of back and forth to not hit the ground. This game is all about getting into that pocket. The only thing this game needs is the Nemesis system. I wanna know which shitty bug ate me on the last run so I can taunt them as I jump over their stupid ass on my next run! Get outta this star's way, planets gotta explode!!!

coda-highland 2025-04-11 04:46

This... has a solid chance of being the weirdest, creepiest, most bizarre game this jam.

Did you write/perform the music? I was surprised to hear more than one track as the game progressed.

The gameplay concept is surprisingly similar to one of the possibilities I was considering when I was brainstorming for the theme, but the presentation is... very, very, very different. XD

follusior 2025-04-11 17:46

@the3rdhunter Thank you, I really liked your review.

follusior 2025-04-11 17:47

@coda-highland Thank you, you're good.

binaryprinciple 2025-04-13 06:06

The artstyle and music put me right in the mood and gave me some anxiety. Well done!

xpoho 2025-04-13 16:48

Во что я только что поиграл xDD

Прикольная штука, весело ^_^

soundjammer 2025-04-17 11:06

Fun game. Cool music! I made it all the way to the deepest point, but then I fell through something =) Good luck with the jam!
