An interesting take on the theme, and a rare one based on the games I've seen by now, props for that. Funnily enough, reminds me of several theme candidates for this LD at the same time - "You are alone", "Protect it", "Moving fortress" etc. The movement is a tad clunky, but the overall pace and the difficulty feel like they're spot on. Well done!
Fine idea, like the feeling of the road adventure, traveling, scavenging, and so on. Bad thing that weapons feel pretty ineffective. While it looks and sounds powerful, you have to connect a good amount of shots to kill an enemy. I found another one, more powerful, but it's shooting speed was too slow, so it feels even worse. Also, if you run out of fuel and don't find another portion soon enough you have to leave your vehicle to the mercy of the raiders (who aren't very merciful, as I found out, and will shoot buggy on sight). It's sorta frustrating because I can do absolutely nothing to protect it (because I need to go somewhere else and find fuel) and it's not my fault (because I have no idea, where fuel might be). Maybe it will be better if raiders wouldn't agroing on it if it's not moving, maybe buggy itself can shoot, which will make me much less worried about its' fate when I'm not around.
Still, pretty decent shooter and the road feels good! Thanks for the game!
Overall, this is a nice game. I liked the **art** style, it's pretty accurate and looks nice. **The UI** is rather simplistic, the only thing is, that i'd like the 'story messages' in the beginning to stay longer in the scene - i wasn't reading fast enough :(. Also, i think, **enemies** were not in the mood when i played, cause there were some strange interactions sometimes. :) Talking about the enemies - it may look more nice, if they won't just walk up under the shield. One more thing, that i wanted to mention is **level design**. I think it was not too accurate, cause in the beginning I just threw all up and ran straight right, away from the car. So, it's a bit not intuitive =.= I also think that the difficulty level may be not balanced right... Oh, and, about the **sounds** - shooting sound was a bit too loud, and shooting effects on the objects were not accurate enough, but i liked the soundtrack much! Anyway, great job on your submission! Doing great work on your first game :)
It gives an error on my computer and it doesn't launch! A pity... I would have liked to try it!
This was good. The music break a little with the atmosphere, but the game worked perfectly. As the room from above can be really far from the road it would be nice some way to know where your car is so some of the fuel tanks don't become too far and just make lose you in the desert. I got the plasma gun and doesn't feel great, it's too slow and you take more time to kill the same amount of enemies that with your base gun, maybe for some enemies could be balanced or something. I enjoyed a couple of plays.
For you to know, if you want to get feedback, the best practice is to play other games, try to get always your "games reviewed" over yours "ratings received". Also people tend to play games from people who reviewed their own.
@eduardogrdev, what platform are you on?
I loved this! One of the best games LD games I've tried so far. The gameplay was actually pretty fun and engaging and I always had to choose between defending the buggy or scavenging for supplies. Perfectly fit the theme too! Great job!
Not a bad game at all, some audio feedback on the attacks/hits would have been nice, and I found aiming quite tricky to pull off. But I did enjoy the game, nice entry!
Really fun game, but needs more polishing: - plasma rifle deals nice damage, but time between shots is definitely to big, - player movement could be better, it is a bit cluncky now, - sprites flicker a little and have gaps between them, - difficulty is a bit unbalanced, fuel drains too fast,
Except that fun game to play. Good Job!
The overall idea of 'pushing object' while fighting hordes of enemies is nice but i'd like more dynamic start. If game needs to tell smth from the very beginning it's better to start it AFTER reading the text. Graphics're nice. Would be cool to have slower enemies with more smooth movement to shoot them more easily.
Visual design somehow reminded me of Dune =)
The mac build isn't working for me, it's just showing the standard Unity blue screen.
You really nailed the feeling of "I need more fuel but I don't want to leave the car alone!"
This is an interesting take on the theme, but I feel like the game could have been better :( The controls are really clunky (why does my character suddenly go way faster, so much it is hard to precisely go where I want to ?). Overall, it isn't bad, but I don't think the graphics go well together. The mood is set pretty correctly though.
Anyway, you still managed to make a game during the LD, so good job anyway :)
Brilliant game! Going out to get fuel always felt a risk, but obviously no progression without making said risk. I think maybe a few more hints about where the nearest fuel can is would help, but on the other hand it could ruin the feeling you've got now. I liked it a lot!
Hi, Taras! Passed your game) Good LD entry! :)
I see you put a lot of features in your game. And it's great that you did so much (shield on a buggy, buggy turning points, a bit of level design, 2 kinds of enemies, 2 kinds of guns) in tough deadlines!
But for now game lacks some balance and fixes of basic things. 1. Strange angle of a shots feels and looks clunky. 2. Shots are too slow. The main trouble is when I miss a shot I don't feel that it's my fault. I feel that shooting mechanic itself is uncomfortable. To make it "feel more controlled" by the player you need to fix shot angle and raise speed of a shots. 3. The map is really big and there is no point for it right now. 4. It's not intuitive that I need to defend the buggy. Maybe there is a kind of a valuable stuff inside? But I didn't saw any notices about this. It also a bit strange that character dies when the buggy is so much slower then the character, and there is no logical sense to defend it.
Nothing innovative here. But it's not a clone of another game, or i just don't know the game :)
Simple theme usage, but you get it)
Feels good, but still need some balance.
Overally a good entry! Great job for one person! :)
