Wow!! Beautiful trasitions and smootly animations! Beautiful game, excellent sound! Congratulations!

jon-curtin 2025-04-07 04:31

Nice, I like the dust trail behind the character

coderaurus 2025-04-07 08:53

@literato-games @jon-curtin Thank you for playing!

dstoc 2025-04-07 11:11

Nice feel.

But, I got a bit lost. I think I found the toy but then I couldn't find any way off that platform/level? 2025-04-07_21-09.png

immortalfox 2025-04-07 11:21

Great idea. I expected less, but it was a nice experience. Even would be glad to see a heavily developed version on Steam

colisan 2025-04-07 13:35

Nice compo game!

I like the colorful sprites, and the music change upon picking up the toy was nice. I love that the monsters then vanish, implying that the toy have some kind of magical soothing power =D

Double bucket helmet is nice, OSHA approve :thumbsup:

frib 2025-04-07 18:44

I also got stuck at the part where you find the toy. No idea how to get back out or continue. It was also a bit hard to see where you coud jump into, because you don't know how many levels it goes down (or up). Other than that, it's a pretty interesting game. I don't know what the buckets do, but they do fit nicely into each other on top of my head :D

coderaurus 2025-04-07 19:04

@dstoc @colisan @frib I failed to convey this but you can actually use the buckets to get to upper levels. Them and the big rocks. It's part of the puzzle. Part of the idea is to explore and navigate with limited vision. Thanks for playing!

@immortalfox Thanks for playing!

thepelranthean 2025-04-08 02:40

It definitely took a bit of time to figure out what to do with the buckets. But once I figured that out, and how the rocks worked, the rest of the game flowed smoothly. I enjoyed playing through the game.

Trying to figure out what more you could add is difficult. I'm sure you have plenty of ideas, but you appear to have covered the obvious needs. You have a back-tracking puzzle, multiple pick-ups with different abilities, a changing theme song according to mood, and sound effects for basically everything. My only remaining ideas are a few different items, like a shovel or maybe a toy truck.

I also appreciated that you told a story with how the game changes when you pick up the toy. Overall, I think you did a great job.

vidarn 2025-04-08 11:08

I really liked this! It definitely grew more and more compelling the further you progressed. It was great how the game changed once you found the toy. Both music tracks were great, especially the second one.

I had to read the comments here to learn how to use the buckets, but that was my only issue.

The graphics were super nice and I like the particles when you move!

sviborg 2025-04-08 17:16

really liked the vibe and the music

coderaurus 2025-04-09 05:39

@thepelranthean Thanks for playing, my intentions feel seen!

@vidarn Thank you for playing and the feedback. I might have to add another gif to hint at the gameplay :smiley:

@sviborg Thanks for playing!

cammin 2025-04-09 08:52

- I like the depth layer mechanic, the transition is nice. - Having a sprint key doesn't feel necessary because there is no penalty to sprinting. - I like the music change when you grab the toy. I read through the comments to understand I can place my buckets. - Game has some enjoyable polish in a decent number of places. Overall nice!

clare-chan1738 2025-04-09 11:15

Really cool game and unique take on the theme! The gameplay feels polished and the sprites are really nice. :)

I don't know why but the first part had something unsetteling with the one hit monsters/fears. Was very happy when the tables finally turned

coderaurus 2025-04-10 19:32

@cammin I do agree with you about the running. I was thinking about it when developing but decided to let it be. Who knows, maybe you happen to speed a bit too far. Thanks for playing and the feedback.

@clare-chan1738 Thanks for playing!

@cluster7ck Hey, thanks for playing. I'm glad to hear it made you feel these emotions!

nimbushead 2025-04-11 03:42

I liked the limited vertical movement and how you visually signified different levels.

alex-davies 2025-04-12 06:48

Neat game! I love the atmosphere, and it's pretty polished looking for a compo game. It's not entirely obvious at first though that the rocks and buckets can be jumped on to move back up a level.

coderaurus 2025-04-12 14:05

@nimbushead Thanks for playing!

@alex-davies Thanks for playing! Yeah, it is not too clear from the start. Especially if the game would have more props it would get tricky to distinguish. Something to think about for sure.

henk 2025-04-12 14:43

I also didn't realize what to do once I was at the bottom with the buckets and had to look at the comments.

I like the take on vertical movement, sort of a Dwarf Fortress-style "slicing". The game felt super short, though! I would have loved to see more content/puzzles/whatever, but maybe that's just because I cheated myself out of figuring out the main puzzle :P.

coderaurus 2025-04-12 14:58

@henk Hey, thanks for playing. No, you are right. The game is short and it's a weakness of mine in jams. The premise kind of sets you up for more. I wanted to do more layers during the jam but bumped into issues that cut the time for that. I'll probably give it some post-jam love.

fernofai 2025-04-12 15:16

I can not think of another game that let's you climb up and down layers in depth like that - yet it's simple and intuitive. Good job!

daniel 2025-04-12 15:23

Short and sweet! The climb up mechanic could have a better visual indicator like you mentioned, but good idea and I liked the overall concept.

linky439 2025-04-12 15:57

Interesting game! Like others, I had to read the comments here to understand what to do with the buckets and the rocks, but that was a fun time. I think it would make for an interesting game idea to expand in a bigger game!

But what's here is good, especially for 48h. Congrats!

mikeliosus 2025-04-13 11:53

Hey! Good entry. The idea of switching between segment looks fresh. I checked some comments and if there was levels of height between segments - I did not get it to be honest.

As some of player I got few golden buckets and the toy and was unable to leave the platform.

Anyway, you did well in such a time restriction! Good luck with your further development!

kaba 2025-04-13 15:50

Fun little game, found the Buddyfant and got out! After figuring out how I could get back to the upper levels I backtracked to the start and was a bit lost but eventually I did find the goal. And I love how the tone of the game changes once you find the magical stuffed animal. :smirk_cat:

littlegamer 2025-04-14 13:50

Got stuck like others ; level design is nice and musics and sounds are good, but it was a bit hard to understand how the game works with the buckets and rocks.

coderaurus 2025-04-15 12:50

@fernofai @daniel @linky439 Thanks for playing!

@mikeliosus Thanks for playing and feedback. Yeah, the height difference is not clear enough in its current state.

@kaba Thank you for playing. I think what you are describing is something that I hoped in some extent. I wanted include a sense of exploration.

@littlegamer Thanks for playing, I do agree with you!

librory 2025-04-16 05:02

Looks good overall, but lack of instructions cause uncertanty on what to do. Anyways good art and atmosphere)

gbegreg 2025-04-20 16:18

Good production with a good atmosphere but I didn't really understand the gameplay.

untitled-studios 2025-04-25 17:54

Cool! I really liked how the game and music changed after picking up the toy. The art here is very pretty, polished, and fitting. I found that the gameplay was occasionally a bit finicky. For example: sometimes I couldn't place the buckets down and couldn't figure out why.

coderaurus 2025-04-27 10:46

@gbegreg @librory Thanks for playing! Clearer instructions would have been in order.

@untitled-studios Thanks for playing! Yeah, gameplay ended up being kind of weird due very rigid execution of the main mechanic. Alas, that's how it goes sometimes.
