I tried the game two times in the browser and on both times all of my creatures exploded and made the entire screen white, but feeding and growing the creatures was fun while it lasted.

The poisoned carrot is a fun idea, and I like how it also changes the bunny's expression and idle animation. A nice little game that feels finished.
Thanks for your kind words! At some point we realised that we had more ideas than time (which I guess is not that uncommon), so we had to cut off a bunch of dead ends and just keep moving.
One thing that would have made the grab mechanic shine is if the little creatures tried to escape more aggressively and the Baddie would only go for the ones that are outside but, sadly, this will have to be implemented in the possible next iteration.
Love the interesting mechanics and the little details that make the world come alive.
Helluva good time! My only gripe was that it's easy to lose track of your character when they bunch up, but super impressive overall!
A fun game! Taking damage was not super obvious, but apparently you can even eat the bigger fish right from the start (It just takes more bites) as long as you stay behind them all the time?
The DNA experience bar was a nice touch, as were the cosmetics - who doesn't love seeing a big brain on their fish!
Very cool! I haven't made it past level 7 yet but I really like this. The minimalistic thumping music really adds to the atmosphere.
Wow! Great graphics and sound design, and the seamless transition from a game over to a new game is a great idea.
This is so cool, thanks for sharing! I love everything about this, but I'll specifically mention the spider's legs and the game over screen.
@piero-pbes-studio, thanks, and you are absolutely correct! A few days after the jam I went back and made a few fixes: prettier clouds, animated flying bugs and a quick and simple chomp effect for the fish (that just stretches the sprite vertically). Simple additions like this made the game a little more alive, and the chomp effect does provide more feedback since it used to rely on audio alone.

I really like how much depth (no pun intended) you managed to get from such a minimalist concept. Great variation that kept the game fresh until the very end!
Fun game! The gameplay felt really good right from the start. Nice job on the polishing overall.
It took several tries but I made it to the water! Lovely physics with the bucket and hose and the minimalist music worked well here. And those evil frogs gave me a hard time before I figured out I could bait them by swinging the bucket.
I love everything about this!
A novel idea (I like how you don't just bring the fish to the sufrace but actually have to catch them mid air), great art style, fun music! The game's a little challenging at first but that just makes it so much more satisfying once the mechanics click and you get the hang of it.
Fun little game, found the Buddyfant and got out! After figuring out how I could get back to the upper levels I backtracked to the start and was a bit lost but eventually I did find the goal. And I love how the tone of the game changes once you find the magical stuffed animal. :smirk_cat:
A really cool experience! The atmosphere was great and I really enjoyed the puzzle aspect of the encounters.
Beautiful programmer art and music.
Very cool mechanics and the gameplay felt really good. The CRT effect is a nice touch!
My first run took a little under 7 minutes to finish and I got it down to 55 seconds after a few tries.
What a novel idea and great execution! It took a little time to figure out how to balance zoom and focus, but from then the process was really smooth. After clearing all but the last one, I had to resort to just scanning the entire area systematically from side to side, but I got it eventually!
What a cool and polished entry! Super enjoyable.
I like the hand drawn art, and after a while the music sounded like something straight out of a classic Sega game (OutRun came to mind!). This was a fun little experience that put a smile on my face. :smile_cat:
There's something irresistibly charming about the art style - great use of just a handful of different shades!
Lovely ObraDinny atmosphere and great fun managing the chaos until it overwhelms you!
This was brilliant! I really enjoyed the educational aspect and the atmosphere. The battery and oxygen gauges had me thinking for a second that this was a survival game but I'm glad there wasn't a need to rush (and the gauges were in fact put to good use!). At some point in the darkest depths I noticed I was so drawn in that I was holding my breath, but nothing could prepare me for what came next.
Oh man, I got greedy and poured all my resources into digging abilities and ended up neglecting defence. And then things got bad with the tougher brown goblins and bats. It was also cool how the music changed the mood during the genre switch. Great idea, top notch execution!
The storyline is a nice touch and I love how it ties all of the attempts together. I also spent a good while just crashing against the walls to test out the collision detection. A fun game overall!
This is incredible! Really fun idea and brilliant execution. Great music, too! Really hard though, but that just adds to the classic game feel.
Game jams - come for the insane ideas, stay for the brilliant _execution_ (pun not intended but fits this game particularly well). :smiling_imp:
I liked your space game the last time and it's nice to see that you're sticking with Pico-8. When I think of Pico, I think of cute, colourful games (like our entry!), but apparently it's also possible to use that cute colour pallette to make someone physically disgusted.
I'm not a fan of horror games myself but I can appreciate that you put your heart (or at least someone's body parts) into this game and your love for corpse-stashing really shines through!
Kova peli! (And back to English for the community:) As a hobby coder it's always humbling and inspiring to see what is actually possible in 48 hours with enough skill and experience. The level of polish is incredible and nothing screams that this is unfinished.
It seems that it's easy to reroll yourself to death but eventually I figured out the proper way to play -- either that or I just got really lucky with the dice -- and made it to the end.
This was an exellent jam game - quick, fun, repeatable! It could use a little balancing because the RNG can really make or break a run. This is especially true at the beginning when your time and movement are so limited. Some runs I spent several precious seconds to get to a chip on the other side of the screen just to get +1 seconds, but things started going better after I realised only the green chips added time and the blue ones were upgrades. And good job with the thumping music as well, it really fits the mood.
Once I got the hang of the mechanics and got my run going, I could not stop and even made it to the top of the list. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

This was immensely enjoyable! Everything from the graphics to the minimalistic audio to the presentation felt well scoped and super polished. Brilliant execution. I just had a huge grin on my face playing this and it left me wanting a little more.
@ira-baciu, you might need to turn the volume up. We had to balance between "audible at all on mobile" and "not intrusive/annoying on PC".
@melomaner, Hey, I like that!
What a nice jam game! There's so much to love about this and everything feels super polished. The game just has this overall freshness and vibrancy to it, and the details like the slowly changing background colour and the wriggling frames around the game area and the bug icons add up to it. Lovely music, too!
This is absolutely incredible. And hilarious. It's definitely not easy to pull something like this off in a way that's genuinely funny, and you did it with flying colours. I'm just grinning like a madman and thoroughly impressed by your game. This is exactly the kind of crazy idea with a brilliant execution that make game jams special!
A farting good time while it lasted!
Technically impressive and the atmosphere is great, as others have said. The dungeons felt a little empty, though, and the progression is rather slow (maybe experiment with more but quicker runs?) - I'm certain the game has much more to offer than I managed to see after a few runs.
That said, even though it has potential for much more (who wouldn't want to ditch the deadlines and keep developing the ideas forever), it's a great jam entry and congrats for getting it out in time.
I'm not sure what I'm exactly collecting here, but it's a fun take on Bomberman! I really like the art and sound effects (it's great that you have a few slightly different explosions).
What a game! Nice take on the controls and I'm glad you could pretty much play the game controlling just one character at a time - changing sides made my brain pause for a moment each time . Introducing new mechanics as the game progressed kept things interesting until the very end, and even though that last jump made my palms sweat :cold_sweat: , I made it on my first try!
The level of polish is really impressive. Very atmospheric and enjoyable!
Super crazy fun! The game feels really satisfying to play and I'm glad there's enough leeway to get the good ending without a perfect run. I can only hope that becoming debt free in real life will feel half as good as clearing this game!
What an atmospheric entry! It manages to capture the slow, chill forest exploration vibe. Love the details, too, like the mist effect and the story for each shroom. Can't wait to show everyone my completed collection! πβπ«
Vo kak! I really liked the atmosphere and the design of the ghosts.
It was nice. I did not finish the game and it felt that some of the difficulty was not completely intended (or maybe you're just thorougly familiar with your game and it did not feel difficult to you), but I did keep trying several times, so you definitely have something there!
Congrats on your first compo game! I liked the little details like the walking animation and how the flies cry for help when you get near them. Keep at it and who knows where this hobby will take you!
The music in the third game made me want to keep trying!
I was not exactly sure if I was supposed to just collect all the dots that appeared or if there was some strategy to choosing the correct ones but, as an audiovisual experience - wow, really impressive and immersive right from the start! Really enjoyable and made me think of Rez.
Nice! I also laughed at the zebra crossing and I know I will have the catchy little tune stuck in my head for a good while after this.
A little simple in terms of content but pretty solid execution.
What a cozy little game! The music is perfect for this and complements the cute graphics well. I really enjoyed the relaxing vibe and this reminded me of A Short Hike in general. A full game could e.g. include delivery quests for other creatures of the forest.
