Nice idea with the ship building but don't let the player start without having a ship ;) A little bit of sound would have helped a ton and are easy to do for example with bfxr.
Also if the player looses and a powerup is on screen the powerup is still there when you restart. Not a major issue but I thought I would mention it.
Otherwise a nice little game!
Nice idea with the reverse skill tree. The game looks good and the controls work great. Nice Ui for the spells, very intuitive. The spells feel very impactful.
I played until I had no more skills and then was supposed to kill zombies in melee which was impossible. The zombies hit you for sure when they start the attack animation even if you run away before the hit should occur. A second check for distance (zombie-player) or something to make sure the player is still close enough would be nice.
Also I chose the try again option after loosing with no skills and id didn't give them back. Do I restart on the same wave? A wave counter would help clarify this if it's not a bug^^
The goal and the loose condition were not really clear to me. Also I managed to collect 11/10 wood which is a bug in the game code I guess.
Make sure to add some info about how to play (goal controls etc.) in the game menu or a separate how to play screen in the future so the player doesn't feel as lost when starting it up.
Also a possibility to quit out of the game without having to alt+F4 would be nice^^
These points don't take a lot of effort to do but make the player experience much better.
I liked the visuals though and I think with a little bit of sound the game could be a nice atmospheric experience,
I enjoyed the game! nice idea with the lights going out.
I found a bug where you can shoot ( or more spawn shots in front of you) when the game is paused.
Good game! I played it to the end. The teleport animation looks great :D
I found a little bug though. You can overflow the energy bar and block some of the ui.
I managed to beat the game! A try again option would be great on the game over screen so I wouldn't have to restart the game. It looks great but I would prefer it a little bit more zoomed out but that's maybe just me.
Also the quit button on the win screen didn't work for me.
I can only agree with what's already been said. Nice graphics and a good idea.
The only thing I want to point out is that when upgrading to the gold pickaxe you can't mine to the maximum inventory size anymore. it stops at 18.
Overall a good entry. I was a bit confused with the movement because I always wanted to face the mirror I wanted to rotate and ended up moving it because the character doesn't just turn on the first press of a direction, it immediately moves.
cool idea. It just seems like a bit of balancing would go a long way. for example: the easy to hit big trucks give a lot of points while the small hard to hit ones give little points. I see how that would make sense thematically but not really in gameplay.
I would have loved to see some countering being necessary where you have to hit certain vehicles with certain animals or something like that.
nice stuff. I only wish there was more. which is probably the best feeling to have after playing one of these games^^
plazed the whole thing! some really nice ideas in here. I like how I can cheese a few puzzles by just shooting things instead of summoning the obvious solution, makes me feel smart xD. I had the most issues with the firs puzzle to get the key. I think figuring out that the demon spawns on the highlighted area and that the summon is mimicking your hands took me a bit. Also I have issues reading the text in the book but that's just a general vr issue I guess. Very nice art and puzzle design.
Was worth the effort to dig out my headset to play this!
pretty cool game with an interesting upgrade system. some are kind of hard to figure out what they do like the aspect stuff. and it is a lot of information in form of numbers to take in. can be a bit overwhelming.
but overall a really nice game. played a few rounds of it even
thanks for letting me know. it was late when I did the submission^^ It should be available now
@rasblo yeah I was working on particle effects and sound but didn't have the skill to make them fast enough for the compo rules^^
size is mostly due to unreal packing a lot of the assets that are in the project by default. I got it down to half by just deleting a bunch of stuff that was unused.
very cool vibe in the game. love the guy slowly emerging from the bed and twitching in the air.
I'm not a rhythm game person but it was beatable for me. the beat didn't seem to have too much to do with the actual music at times but that is probably the hardest thing to do in these games and I think you did a decent job there. The score is a bit hard to read in the bottom left because of the color.
It's not clear how to play without reading the page here first + the lose condition was unclear to me. would be nice too just have an intro screen explaining stuff a bit.
Was hoping for a jumpscare or something at the end I feel like it would have been some good payoff^^
cool game. maybe a bit too long. I just started clicking random things when I didn't know what to do. very nice visuals.
weird characters and weird sound for a weird game. the visuals definitely make a big difference in this one. I like it^^
managed to solve it after a few tries. I didn't realize the goal was to fill the meter and not get all the things in the right spot. maybe instead of giving red yellow green feedback do -1 0 or +1 or something less conveying the meaning of being correct.
Not that much here. From the intro screen I had trouble figuring out what button to press to continue. Love the walking animation tho ^^ Had to get the download. that worked for me
I did like the mechanic with the dice and the movement but it seems easy to go on forever by just spawning as many as you can and moving stuff up. I never used the left or right or down actions. I am also not sure why 2 actions have to be played at once they don't seem to have any interaction one at a time would yield the same results. performance tanks a bit at high combos too. I feel like some more limitations would be good to make the moves matter more.
overall some really good basics for a puzzle game. and I love the visuals and the music / sound effect
cool core gameplay, and great visuals ! charm in the game. it devolves very quickly into spamming E and clicking cars towards the end. it didn't really feel like I'm making big choices when summoning units.
nice entry ^^
I do like the concept. It just didn't give me a lot of choice. I was mostly just clicking the button that I could click. Nice graphics and it's fun to just watch them fight! maybe a bit too heavy on the camera shake^^ but overall a nice entry.
kind of hard to tell what the different wizards do and when to use which one. I assume there is some countering and stuff going on but I can't tell. so i was just spamming random things. mostly air since it's the shortest word to type ^^ Also it's hard to remember all the names since they are not in the game. interesting idea tho
I thought the thing on the right was me or a person so I never reylly tried summoning from there until the end. I tried to just pick the bookshelf apart and the box looking thing at the bottom. interesting concept tho having to figure out the correct summoning circle
cool game. I beat on my second try. I figured out to spawn skeletons on top of ranged units is very helpful and then immediately destroying them again by pressing D. before that the ranged units gave me a lot of trouble.
I got a banshee early and some zombies which was very effective In the last few waves I was just spamming to get liches and reapers until it was over ^^
cool concept having to sacrifice units to get bigger ones. it felt a bit tedious when wanting to summon the very big boys with the skeleton limit ( I assume that's for performance reasons ) i was just spamming stuff in the end without thinking much anymore.
one of the best entries I have played in this jam for sure tho!
Very nice game. makes me feel a bit bad for my attempt at a survivor like in this jam ^^ Great art and I like the twist with getting summons instead of upgrading your own power but a mix of the 2 might have been cool too since your own attack is very hard to use later in the game.
even with just the 3 options for summons there is quite a bit of choice in how you want to play which made me try a few times with different strategies to see how melee only or a mix of everything etc. would work out for me.
some of the ui was a bit hard to read like the money counter and the cost of units. they were also very far apart on the screen which made me look up and down a lot.
overall a very nice entry!
interesting concept. the controls felt a bit wonky using the mouse to look around and click on buttons at the same time. Liked the general vibe and atmosphere tho. There seemed to just be good and bad buttons that never change If I'm correct just filled the room with blue flowers because they looked nice ^^
cool stuff. would have loved to have some more obstacles or a time limit. maybe get some additional time when a letter is delivered or something. now it just felt like there is nothing at stake, but was sometimes just wandering around the environment to look at the trippy stuff which was cool too. I found a bed inside one of the houses I think^^
The upgrades were a easy to miss I think which was a bit sad. I never got the boost one. maybe put a marker to go to the house for the next level too when you have to^^
would play as watermelon mailman again.
nice game. liked the puzzle aspect of it. nicely designed at the right amount of difficulty imo. I wish there was a win screen when it's over just as a little treat^^
I died :'(
there is not too much to do in the game. but it's nice to watch dva go for a while^^
interesting concept to have to make your own difficulty basically. I think it just doubled the enemies every time I clicked which was a bit much but I'm not sure. I managed to get them stuck between things so they can't get to me and I can just kill others with lmb. got a few million points that way^^
Insanely hard or maybe I'm just bad ^^ it felt a bit too random and frustrating for me when I try to summon a bomb or trap near enemies but get a potion instead. knowing what comes next would be nice or having more control when you summon after charging. overall a nice game tho.
weirdly addicting. love the choice between having help catching or summoning more to catch sooner. very nice
NIce game. It took me a while to figure out what was hurting me in the room on the right. it's the floor and not the enemies xD nice overall visuals and sound
I like the idea of summomning creatures that are not really your allies to fight each other. I just think that it seems a lot easier to just telefrag them so the choice of monster you summon has no impact anymore. would love t see a version where it's actually best to have them fight eachother and have to try to make the battles as close as possible to ensure everyone dies^^
I don't know if I fully understand what to do. I typed some things but it just responds with "..." forever. Is it waiting for some call to finish or am I supposed to know what to type? :) maybe a bit more info on here would help. the visuals are nice and if this one of those AI things that could be cool too^^
**this contains spoilers do not read before playing**
had trouble finding the exit where you had to go through the brick door. I restarted the game once because I thought I broke it. felt a bit bad because I was taught before that brick doors don't open multiple times. otherwise very nice entry I think it captures very well what you tried to achieve. cool game.
honestly the only criticism I have is that the font was sometimes a bit hard to read. great game with great story and atmosphere. especially for a game jam! loved the ending I got especially (will not reveal what it was in case anyone else is reading this before playing) might go back to see if I can find the other one^^
GG.png
good game. not sure if this counts as me beating it xD also nice to see someone else using unreal^^
I just left the other character behind and started exploring and wandering around but didn't find anything until I ran back to the beginning and the characters started talking and explaining the focus mechanic and then slowly walking back to the part I had already explored
player progression feels great. loved getting the upgrades to go from slow and tedious drilling to a drilling machine by the end. great job! it did take me a bit to see the cooldown of the drill being represented by the drill color at the beginning.
I do like the movement especially. it takes a minute to get used to but by the end of the 5 min playtime you get into this nice rhythm to zoom around and pick up things.
one of my favorites I've played so far in this jam. love the changing mechanics and all the games referenced. I'd recommend anyone to play this one. there is really nothing to criticize here ^^
cool story. I feel like I was very close to figuring out what the guy was really up to down there but I couldn't get it out of him. It was a bit difficult for me to figure out what exactly I need to do to get there. I felt like I need him to say something specific before confronting him about the reason of why he went down there in the first place. My best guess was the immortal jellyfish thing but I'm not sure. It could also be something with the numbers has to be right but other then him running off when he gets too angry I don't really know what the numbers do.
but I tried a bunch of times which I think is a good sign ^^
I liked the story. nice and short with a lot of mystery, not sure if I understand it all but I can see someone making a 50min video essay about the meaning^^
cool twist on the battle mechanic. it reminds me of undertale by not being an exact copy. well done!
music was great by itself! had a few issues with the two jumps with the low ceiling but overall a great time. for me the screen just went black after getting to the last statue thing so I'm not sure what happened but I guess that's the end.
cool game. last level took me a few tries but I did want to complete it. also how dare you make that the sound effect for failing a level I hear it too much already xD
