LD57 — Depths

Abyss Vaulter by sinclairstrange 2025-04-18T04:01:19Z

What a remarkably fun game. The music, the game feel, the aesthetic—all of it feels masterful. I only have two points of contention: I so wish I could play with a controller, and I had to reset due to clipping into a platform and getting stuck. But other than that, amazing game. Wonderful job!

Downstairs by Sn4pi 2025-04-16T21:00:03Z

Masterful use of suspense! It definitely kept my attention the entire time I played. I also think, given it's on stairs, the use of the up-key in jumping felt appropriate; my having to be more aware of what keys I was pressing added to the suspense. I do think the enemies could've been more unnerving and contrasted with the background more. Maybe having them move slightly faster with a more obvious audial cue. Besides that, love it. Great job!

Deep sea fishing by Spexxilove 2025-04-17T00:47:30Z

Clever game, I enjoyed it! I can't complain about the lack of audio as my game has no sound either, but I do think for future iterations, an audial component will def boost the immersion for this game. Good job!

The Treasure of the Gigantanic by Zirrrus 2025-04-16T21:15:41Z

Very fun game! Reminded me a little of Iron Lung. All of the different mini games to keep the sub operational definitely made it so there was never a dull moment. Well done!

Somnium by Roitchie 2025-04-21T02:19:36Z

What an eerie game; the presentation is fantastic! You nailed the dream-like ambience. Even the placement of the game's title in the intro caught me by surprise. You've also crafted a world that is genuinely fascinating to explore. My only complaint may be the default mouse sensitivity is a bit high. Besides that, I loved it. Great job!

Drop by caeonosphere 2025-04-16T21:39:52Z

WOW what a game! Definitely one of the toughest games in Ludum Dare I've played, but also one of the most fun. The music is also beautiful; I'm tempted to ask if it's up one Youtube. As for critique, sometimes I found it difficult to navigate the darker portions of the game, and when platforming is such a pivotal component, not having those visuals made clear can make things particularly difficult. There was also one point where I accidentally clipped through the floor doing a ground pound. Overall, though, beautiful game. I love it. Great job!

DeepMine by Nazgulx 2025-04-17T21:28:25Z

First of all, I think the color palette for this was very well made. I also found the core loop to be more fun than I expected. I do think the cave in system would benefit from a visual cue. Additionally, I think implementing audial cues would make the game feel more lively. You've got a good base of a game down, though. Good job!

Maps of The Darkness by Wolfier 2025-04-21T02:10:24Z

This was a fun fast-paced game! My only complaints are the wanting more enemies, the light box being visually square, and the occasional enemy spawning outside the map. Combat was felt intense and engaging, and I love the quick movement speed. Super fun. Good job!

Fia Fuel by Jim jagers 2025-04-17T21:09:49Z

It's a cute platformer! You definitely capture the retro feel very well. My only complains are that I think the writing at the beginning could be cleaned up a bit, and sometimes I would catch myself wishing the player's base speed was a tad bit faster. Other than that, I had fun. Good job!

VoidQuest by koalabear 2025-04-16T22:56:55Z

This is a really cute game; I'm a fan! The controls were a little tough once speed was boosted a bit, but I didn't find it to be too bad; just made for some strategizing. The music and audio were also very well done. If I had one critique, it's that I found it a bit annoying that items would spawn on top of meteors, making them impossible to get without taking damage. If there's any way to fix that collision, that would be nice. Good job!

The Haunted Depths by ljg 2025-04-21T02:53:11Z

This is a cute game! The writing is whimsical, and the background art was well made. I think for the sake of ambience, it could definitely benefit from some light cave noises, but besides that, I'm not sure I have any other suggestions. Good job!

Belials Bellybutton by Kujoen 2025-04-18T18:38:19Z

I'm a big fan of how the harpoon was implemented with the ability to quicken its reel; I got to say, that's pretty innovative. The sound design was also very immersive and haunting. Good job!

The Guildmaster by Sylvic 2025-04-17T21:53:41Z

You've got the skeleton of a great game here. I do agree with other folks that the UI is a bit complicated, and the learning curve is a bit steep; this game would definitely benefit from a tutorial. The music is solid, and the systems here are ambitious. I'd definitely encourage you to continue working on this game. I'd love to see how it could turn out. Solid job!

Mafushi by Ron88 2025-04-17T21:49:37Z

What an adorable game. The art style: charming. The music: jazzy. The multi-tasking: very engaging! I love it. My only complaint is that the shark's growl was weirdly loud and choppy for me, but I've been having issues playing Godot games in my browser, so I have no clue if that's just a me issue or not. Either way, I love this game. Cute story, too. I definitely think you should continue working on it. Great job!

Earthcore Prominence by Lou Tremolieres 2025-04-16T21:10:59Z

Very atmospheric game with some lovely music! I do think the screen's movement was a bit slow, so I'd end up swimming into enemy encounters I wasn't ready to tackle. Combat felt good, though, and the enemy scaling felt natural. Good stuff!

Depth by 44gang by kolaz koleso 2025-04-16T21:05:22Z

Very intriguing game! I'm guessing Stranger Things may have been an inspiration, and I love it. The dimensional hopping was very unique. I do agree with other folks that the graphics are a bit messy, but there is a stylized look and feel that I think deserves appreciation. Decent job!

Depths Calling by NinoSecret 2025-04-17T21:41:27Z

That's a very cool game! I loved the exploring the environment; the levels were very well crafted. The audio was also well designed, and the radar made for decent navigation while still making traversing the levels reasonably difficult. I do agree with others that the mouse sensitivity was way too low. Additionally, I'm not sure what the white orbs are all about. They're listed as enemies, but they don't seem to react to my existence. A game like this would really benefit from a palpable sense of dread from watching the enemies chase after you on the radar, so that's definitely something you should consider if you continue to work on this game. Also, the tentacle outside the windows on the second level is a nice touch. Overall, it's a very well made game with a lot of extra potential. Great job!

Echo Diver by cyndereN 2025-04-18T18:58:29Z

It's a cool game! I think the slow movement definitely adds to the tension, as does the audio. I love the reverb on the echolocation blink. I did find myself wishing the player sprite had some visual indicator, maybe a blur or something, to let us know we were moving as it can feel a bit aimless in environments with no walls or enemies. You embody the jam's theme well, though. Good job!

Echo-Of-Fallens by caffeinetrip 2025-04-16T21:59:20Z

I'm a sucker for spooky pixel games, so this was a treat. Wonderful atmosphere! The audio was especially entrancing. I also love the little extra burst of momentum you get when climbing up a rope. I did get lost at one point trying to return to the final boss, and eventually I strayed way too far away, so some reminder of the final boss's coordinates would be helpful—and frankly, having the coordinates to begin with was a smart decision. Good job!

Lost in the Depths by ViraPyon 2025-04-17T21:03:51Z

It's a fun game that really rewards timing and pacing. The music is also really beautiful, and I had fun learning to maneuver around the space! I think the game could use a little more visual flair, but that's really my only complaint. Great job!

Let me home by maxem4ek 2025-04-16T22:43:11Z

The audio felt very immersive; it reminded me a bit of Silent Hill 4. Games this time around are killing it with their atmosphere, and this is no exception. The game did get a bit laggy for me at times, and I'm not sure what caused the performance issues. Given no one else has mentioned it, that may be an issue on my end. Good work!

Eyeron Deep by salty_grndpa 2025-04-18T18:44:17Z

It's a cute game with some fun movement! I do agree with other folks that the objective felt a bit nebulous; I also had a hard time noticing my health bar in full screen mode. The spin to propel oneself is a really cool concept, though. Good job!

Wild Focus by Sooriyan 2025-04-21T02:45:25Z

This is an adorable game; the artwork is amazing, and the music is really well made! I do agree with others: there are quite a few bugs. I think at one point I took a photo of the printer. I still got accepted to UNIVERSITY though, so it's okay. You all should definitely continue working on this game! It's got a lot of potential. Great job!

The Investigator by ImmortalFox 2025-04-17T20:51:41Z

It's a cool take on the Papers, Please! formula! And I agree with most folks: the color palette was well curated. I did have some trouble with the inputs and UI; I definitely don't want to repeat what other folks have said about the UI, but I think they're on the money. The game has a lot of promise, though, and I hope you continue working on it and implementing those features you wanted to include! Solid work.

DElevator by LemeshKING 2025-04-18T18:51:10Z

I like the concept a lot. That said, the collision on enemies with so many around make navigating particularly difficult, and not having an invincibility frames also makes getting hit rather punishing. I definitely think it would benefit from some balancing, as well as adding some receptivity to the player's actions, like indicating if an enemy got hit, whether that be through a new animation or a health bar for an enemy combatant. I also noticed on full screen the level only occupied about half of my screen. Other than that, I think it shows a lot of promise. Solid work!

SATIATE by Spookyman999 2025-04-17T20:44:34Z

Mmm Hell Food

Very fun! The music was fire, and the mechanics were a fun spin on the traditional roguelike! I did find the game to be a little laggy, but that may be more of an issue with my browser or anything; it's still something to potentially keep in mind. Overall, it was fun. Good job!
