Make sure the game is public on Itch.

lexgear 2024-04-15 07:52

Wasn't able to download. I don't think the game is published on itch.

I feel like Im in a progresson litRPG

- Game was fun, size was not, I had to summon extra free space on disk (at least not as big as last ludum dare I played 2gb) - I hated the level up screen, interrupts the gameplay, makes me waste my summoning time, large block and I have to wait for regeneration. Maybe make it not appear if currently clicking, and insta regenerate block on level up. Also I think I was not able to move when I held down move key and selected an option. - Cool block mechanic, it was a bit weird the way it got pushed around

I like the bigger screen shake when you drop a particularly large cube. Would be even more powerful with some sound effects. My approach the whole time was to always wait for the spheres to group together and for the cube to grow to its max, so the time between summons upgrades didn't really mean much for me.

Loved the graphics, the gameplay loop, and the ambient sounds.

Had a bunch of fun playing it, and loved how crunchy dropping blocks felt.

Really wish there was a "popping" sound effect every time I destroyed a cranberry - would have made it so much more satisfying.

I loved making and dropping bigger and bigger cubes! The ambient sound was a little odd, especially when it stopped on level up.

Dropping the cubes is so satisfying! Love bouncing between making small ones to take out stragglers, then getting a large group to flatten with a massive one. A very fun game - well done!

A simple and pretty fun little game. Maybe a bit more content would have been great. But overall a fun little jam game.

Neat idea for a bullet hell genre. UI and that huge grass texture could've used some love, but you probably know that :D Either way, I learned a lesson today: bigger cubes = better!

huitre 2024-04-22 03:37

That idea of squishing your opponents with a massive object is fun, there might be something to develop here!

pebkac 2024-04-22 05:59

Haha, this was fun. The blocks could do with some cool sound effect though, and aiming wasn't easy...

hadik 2024-04-22 11:18

Innovative and engaging with a satisfying block-dropping mechanic. Needs a polish on UI and sound effects to enhance the gameplay experience further.

rasblo 2024-04-23 17:23

Awesome use of the concept, love the squishing your enemies wizard. It's how I play Trine! Wish you had time to add more juice to squishing those damn spheres! Sound effects and particles would improve the game feel by miles. A decal still on the ground after a popped enemy maybe.

Solid balance of the upgrades, felt like I wanted to pick different ones a lot. Although the upgrades made me lose input for movement, which got me hurt a few times.

Fun jam! Aside from that the size of the game is absurd, I'm guessing textures? Should look into optimizing that the next time, huge environment textures is not worth it. Cheers!

spexxilove 2024-04-23 18:11

@rasblo yeah I was working on particle effects and sound but didn't have the skill to make them fast enough for the compo rules^^

size is mostly due to unreal packing a lot of the assets that are in the project by default. I got it down to half by just deleting a bunch of stuff that was unused.

joshanthony1990 2024-04-24 00:35

Cool idea! I liked the camera shake on dropping the stone cube, but there definitely needed to be a squish sound when crushing the red blobs. :P

Good job, thanks for making the game!

Vampire Survivors meets cube sommoning! Really fun! This is one of my favorite games to play in LD-55 so far!

If you keep expanding on this, consider addeing effects like a small radius of damage when the cube lands.

And adding some background music will make this 10x more exciting :)

Only real issue I had was after clicking a level up option, the keypress I was holding down didn't keep my character moving in that direction. So if you keep working on this game, definitely fix that sooner than later since it's really key for the player to feel like they're keeping up momentum (and that their input is responsive) in a game like this.
