@brownricestudio sorry that it isn't the cleanest ui.
by clicking, you can assign 3 players to a game. you must have 1 designated to make the score, but the other two can get assigned to chase the ball, defend the goal, or defend the midfield.
the player stats can help you dictate who might be good in what position. for instance, a high speed player might be good as a chaser.
after that, you watch the game play out! if it goes on for long enough, you can call a time out (if you or nobody controls the ball) and give new instructions to your men.

DAMN IT, windows only! I flipping love the look of this game! I love "dystopianmovie sports", and "Commodore 64 graphics" (see my entry... your game looks beautiful and exciting - like a game you'd see in Zzap64. Mine is confusing and ugly: like you'd find on a 5 1/2 inch floppy with 25 other "games")
Can you export GameMaker to Linux or Web? I'd love to give it a shot!
@mrspeaker Thanks!!! I'm working on a web one, but i've never figured out linux or mac exporting from GM 1.4. I'll hopefully have a port up by tuesday :)
Awesome work! I love it when sports stuff gets twisted into an interesting ludum game. Are you gonna keep developing this? Could see it being a great couch competitive game if you polish it up and add some more variety

Beautiful looking little game. It fits the theme well and is really impressive for the timeframe :)
I like these kinds of games where you assign a few dudes and just watch them butt heads. It's thrilling! This was fun to play, though I haven't dabbled in the multiplayer yet. My only complaint is the UI not being the easiest to click on, but other than that, solid entry!

Was funny! It would be great tho, if when you select a role, said role appeared on the head of the character in the role selection screen. Would make it more clear.
Also, this is really nitpicking, but try to use a single pixel size if you're using pixelart, although I've just seen it in the title screen.

I honestly had a blast playing this with my friend. Just for kicks, I might find a way to get some people to bet candy on it, just for kicks.

I feel like I don't have enough patience for this game, but I love the idea and when I actually did make a smart choice I felt great
Fun entry, I wish there was a better way to the stats of the characters though, hovering them one by one and remembering a bit of pain, also I didn't get at first that I couldn't pick red players, but that's just silly me. Clever entry overall!
Nooooo I got trashed by the bot on the lowest difficulty ! My tactic was just "assign the fastest guy to make score" and then trying to find a guy to defend and a guy to kick the ball to they side :smiley:
I would have loved having more control over the game, with some kind of one-use items for example.

This game's hilarious. I wish there was a bit more player choice; the characters don't seem to really behave that differently other than speed, etc.

This was my favorite submission so far. it was really fun, the art and sounds were charming, and the gameplay was easy to grasp and cool to watch. Very good.
It is indeed charming and fun! ... the fact that they jump while walking is sooo cute! the center of the arena seems a lot like a pokeball lolol
Fun take on the theme, first sport manager game I have seen in LD, innovative way of implementing the theme with having the goal scorer explode. Its a smart mechanic that also helps make the games more balanced Looks great as well, fantastic compo entry!

Fun to watch, wish there was more I could contribute to making goals. Maybe take control of one of the team members? Seems like the hard mode just gives my players worse stats and lets the AI trample them. I'm not sure if there's a way to win in hard mode or if I'm just bad. The base game is good though!
It's really unique. I like the graphics. It would be cool if the players looked more different than each other, though. If, for example, some had beards or hair, or different gender or skin, it would probably give your more empathy for the players before they die. I think the fact that it stalemates so often is kind of an issue, but I don't know if time-outs are really the best solution. If players were stunned for longer, or knocked away when the ball was stolen from them, it'd be harder to have the constant back and forth. If they couldn't run through each other as much, that might help, because they seem to clump up a lot. I also feel like the goal zone seems a little small. Often one of my players would be right on top of it, but nothing would happen. Over all, though, I really like the game.
