Really liked the game! The art style is absolutely beautiful, only thing I'd have to say is maybe a bit of a problem is that you basically just drag your mouse around and hold one button. Not much diversity. Apart from that I did really like it! Can't wait to see what you make in the future and I hope they'll all look so great!

domixltu2 2018-12-03 19:15

an awesome looking game, but the only drive to playing with sacrifice is rushing for score and in the end if it doesnt get hectic it gets boring

akros 2018-12-03 19:16

I loved everything about this game. Great art reminds of hidden folks together with nice sfx create a peaceful atmosphere. At first, I was confused because there was no tutorial but the gameplay turned out to be very intuitive. Not sure why I lost though) Снимок экрана (284).png

ellenack 2018-12-04 04:00

Really great entry ! Simple yet effective. Love the graphics and the mood. Really good job !

gaming-night 2018-12-05 07:54

@august1413, thank you for your comment ! You're quite right, in the time set we have privileged the graphics and management mechanics rather than the gameplay. In the end it is true that doing 2 or 3 parts hurts the finger;) At the beginning we had thought of a turn-based system but with the addition of a chronometer we think that it will accentuate the notion of stress of not being able to be present everywhere at once.

gaming-night 2018-12-05 07:57

@domixltu2, thank you for your constructive feedback ! Initially we wanted to add interaction between the boxes, if one became too high next to another, it would "rebel" and attack the other. But we did not have time: / Ludum rules!

franfox 2018-12-05 11:22

First of all, nice concept, art and presentation, the game looks really cool. Well done! Anyway I've played for 10 minutes and I can't figure out what's the wind for... When I used it I started to lose my score and only can improve the civilization with the rain. I'm missing something?

bmopapa 2018-12-05 13:49

Wow,I was attracted by the minimal yet elegant theme image to play the game. And as I expect, the graphic, sound are so beautiful and makes me feel the peace. But, the gameplay, on the contrary, it seems to have a very rushed tempo. I personally feel if more gameplay can be reduced, the whole work would have a more pure focus. I mean it could be a cool digital toy or a little landscape model people love to hold, observe and interact. Overall, I love the graphic and sound feeling of the game. Thank you for bringing this well-made, peaceful atmosphere for me.

gaming-night 2018-12-05 19:01

Thanks @akros ! We could not take the time to explain it in game but there is a limited time, represented at the top right by a clock. You did not lose, you just finished the game :)

gaming-night 2018-12-05 19:02

@franfox, when the windmill appears you have to use wind :)

gaming-night 2018-12-05 19:04

Thank you @bmopapa for your constructive feed back ! We thought at the beginning of a turn-based system where the player could have taken the time of the reflection, but we finally opted for a more dynamic idea and in the end our quiet sound design indeed contrasts with the proposal of gameplay : /

gordy 2018-12-05 20:44

Super relaxing game with cool simple but cool and interesting are style!

eva-abollivier 2018-12-05 20:56

Playing your game was a peacefull and relaxing experience, making it a very original way to interpret a theme like "sacrifices must be made". The artstyle is very nice, the color palette and the sounds soothing. The only complaint I have is that the player doesn't make any real choice. Unless I missed something, you always have to use water, then wind and sun. And there is no clear benefit for the player to leave some territories undevelopped.

elnu 2018-12-05 20:59

Is there a WebGL/Linux version? I'm not on Windows.

banjoduarte 2018-12-05 21:04

Great art style and soothing music. Good job.

gaming-night 2018-12-05 21:16

@gordy thank a lot for the positive feedback :)

gaming-night 2018-12-05 21:20

@eva-abollivier, the bonus system is precisely present to create this choice between ease and balance. Unfortunately we would have liked to have more time to balance this aspect of our game :)

gaming-night 2018-12-05 21:21

@mertios, we always have trouble with unity to export a webGL build :/ We are working on it !

gaming-night 2018-12-05 21:21

@banjoduarte , thanks a lot :)

skettynmeebs 2018-12-06 00:07

this was a great submission! I loved the art!

The gameplay was great. The use of the theme was very elegant, I didn't feel like it was in my face that this was about sacrifice, but it that was in fact what was going on. Awesome submission. I only got to 4 harmony bonus twice lol I might play again later after voting. If a WebGL version does come out, I'll show all my friends!

jesse-santana 2018-12-06 02:16

Love the art style, it really stands out. =]

pawel-w 2018-12-06 06:58

Great submission! Really nice idler, that's the category I would classify your game. Graphic style is also amazing. I had a great time playing Consilium! :)

gaming-night 2018-12-06 09:41

@jesse-santana thanks a lot :)

gaming-night 2018-12-06 09:42

thank you @pawel-w, we are really happy that you had a good time playing our game :)

hadesfury 2018-12-06 12:29

24990 Great game :) I love the graphism but the gameplay is quite innovating

gaming-night 2018-12-06 13:10

@hadesfury thanks a lot !

kerdelos 2018-12-06 13:12

This game is gorgeous and super relaxing ! Excellent job ! I found it a bit hard to balance every thing though ( considering you want to progress, but did just being in harmony gave more points than progress ?)

gaming-night 2018-12-06 14:08

@kerdelos you are right, we wanted to show harmony is a better way than irresponsible progress :) Thanks for your feedback !

gaming-night 2018-12-06 14:12

@mertios & @skettynmeebs : we updated our itchio page with a webGL build ! Unfortunately there is no sound in chrome or safari on MacOS :/

hangacs 2018-12-06 14:27

Really love art style and smart design.

fahrenheit459 2018-12-06 14:37

Very simple but extremely cool gameplay. Graphics and sounds create a nice mood that balance with scoring Very nice job!

fluffi 2018-12-06 14:38

Interesting artstyle, very polished and clean thats always nice. The music and sound effects create a very nice mood. But I don't feel like I'm sacrificing anything, it's more like prioritising stuff.. It was fun to play though.

raivk 2018-12-06 14:41

The mood on this game is pretty amazing. Gotta admit, it's a beautiful, calm, relaxing, and interesting game. Really well done !

ghostmaple 2018-12-06 16:00

Very neat sim/god/farm game mechanics. The art is extremely consistent and clean and fitting for the overall game. Nice work

gaming-night 2018-12-06 16:14

@hangacs , @fahrenheit459 , @fluffi , @raivk , @ghostmaple : THANK YOU ALL !!

tetralogia 2018-12-06 16:19

I can't find anything negative to say about this game, I think it presents no flaws whatsoever and is a complete product in its current state. Plus I could not agree more with the statement it makes. Great work!

gaming-night 2018-12-06 16:45

@tetralogia thanks a lot for your positive feedback :)

namnam 2018-12-06 17:01

The art is very nice and with the music it put you in a good mood. It's always sad to see our little square of life go backward, but i guess i had to sacrifice some of them ^^ Good job :)

gaming-night 2018-12-06 17:08

@namnam, we wish we had more time to implement some characters in each squares ;) Thanks for you feedback !

franfox 2018-12-06 18:03

ok @gaming-night! The game make sense now :ok_hand:

recursor 2018-12-06 18:14

I loved the feeling of serenity this game gave me as I wielded nature's forces to shape the land. The art style , sound and music contributed to the peaceful mood of the game. I haven't seen anything like this in the entries I've looked at so far, and it is quite refreshing. It reduced my stress levels for a few minutes and for that, I thank you. Smashing job!

yyam 2018-12-06 18:23

Really interesting game! I like the original concept and art style. I ended up developing one tile to the max and got disappointed when it stopped advancing :p I wanted to see crazy space-age stuff. Overall I really enjoyed it though, very relaxing and polished :)

coatline 2018-12-06 22:00

Nice game! Made me relax and listen to the great audio. Although it was a little dull gameplaywise, the mood, audio and graphics made up for it. Good entry!

icxon 2018-12-07 03:37

I'm still figuring out what tactics is the best, can't go higher than 5000.

Here are my attempts:

dob 2018-12-07 05:17

Very cool art style and game concept. I really liked this one for that. Such a juggling act balancing all the different pieces. Very nice.

raisethedead 2018-12-07 17:42

I really enjoyed the game, and especially art and sound design, good job !

ynneblack 2018-12-07 18:46

So... this game is just beautiful. The use of theme is lovely, the art is really pretty, it doesn't need a tutorial because it's all shown on the first playthrough. It doesn't take very long to figure out that you have to use specific elements depending on the stage (I was only confused by the sun, thinking it would be used earlier!). The colour coding of various buildings with their elements is a bit too subtle and may not be color-blind friendly, but you can figure it out from what the buildings are (windmill etc.) so I don't think it's a big issue. Plus, the soft colours are really pleasant to look at!!

One thing I would like would be if long-term harmonized society allowed some benefit, e.g. slower change of the stage of development, so that the end would be less hectic! I had all 9 squares as tress/villages for the second half, but in the end it was changing so fast, the timer run out as I had only 2 forest tiles and nothing else, which was a little disappointing. But I can imagine such balancing would require a lot more time!

I'm giving this all 5*. :)

firebug 2018-12-07 20:26

Very interesting game! I love the gentle art style, the soft lines and dabs of color. The audio really harmonizes with the art style, and gameplay is simple yet challenging. Love what you have made in such a short amount of time!

lucien-catonnet 2018-12-07 21:50

Really nice graphics, really nice audio too! I like your choice of colors, they go well with the gameplay. I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay itself though. To be honest when reading the description I readied myself for a balancing game, but instead I felt like I really just had to go in a single direction and juggle with the tiles. You said that harmony was a better choice than constant progress but it doesn't look like the game reflects that, I may have totally misunderstood though, maybe some things could have made your point clearer (like the social harmony multiplier, I didn't get how it was calculated and how it impacted things). Good entry nonetheless, congratulations :)

consilium.png

krunoslav 2018-12-08 02:07

Beautiful game! Reading comments, I reached the same conclusion as @lucien-catonnet, it is better to 'attack' just one tile instead to go over the other tiles. I did not get how to improve harmony. Great game

hugo-kieffer 2018-12-08 11:10

i love the art style and the sound of the game, really good game, good job!

failedstarfish 2018-12-08 11:39

The graphics and simple art style worked really well, I really liked the look of the game. Gameplay is maybe a bit limited but it's very relaxing to play.

maximiliangeorg 2018-12-08 12:02

Cool game, super polished! My only complaint: I saw no reason not to hold down the left mouse button so it would be nice if the resources flow automatically and I have only to point on the tile and cycle through them.

raphael-maia 2018-12-08 12:38

It's beautifull, i think i would instead of moving back the tile in time, change it to a more decayed state. I think that with some polishing and more features there's a commercial game hidden in that.

Great work!

theonethatneverwas 2018-12-08 14:19

Amazing art style and mood! Very beautiful. Congratulations

diego-burgos 2018-12-08 20:10

Really nice art and mood, I think that it needs a little more features something like a general weather or something that gives me more options or decisions to do.

kaipi 2018-12-08 20:50

loved the sounds and art!, I liked how the evolution worked, I didn't feel the sacrifice to much but it was nice to play. Great job!

corbak 2018-12-09 11:21

This is a really neat entry :) well done on that. Totally love the simplicity and the relaxing mood of the game. Things that I could play just for real fun :) well done

kovareka 2018-12-09 11:22

Beautifull art and sound. Great game!

ridderfar 2018-12-09 11:24

Beautiful graphics and sound design. Gameplay is a little boring.

renegadepunisher 2018-12-09 11:26

This game is amazing. I love the minimalist art style. Usually i'd try and come up with some areas that need to be looked at, but to be honest i think this game is extremely solid. A tutorial could maybe be added, or some instructions, but it only takes a couple of seconds to figure it out.

Would make a good mobile game. Could have timed runs along with an endless one. Good job.

jlv 2018-12-09 11:31

Beautiful god game ! That genre is not often used during jams, and the fact that it blends in with the theme so well makes it even better. The art, sound design and mood are equally great, and totally make up for the relative lack of surprises or variety during interaction.

Pros : - Awesome art direction, these graphics are neat. - Loved the sound design and feedback too, makes for a really contemplative experience - The scoring mechanic is excellent, and thematically adequate - Really intuitive UI

Cons : - Past the first tile evolution, relative lack of surprises

All in all, excellent work !

digitaldude555 2018-12-09 11:44

Mood 5/5, music and art are fit well with each other, very consistant art style. It's awesome! I dont get the theme though you sacrifice the development of certain tiles in favour of others?

jk5000 2018-12-09 11:46

A interesting and very relaxing little game. Sadly the goal is super unclear. Overall a fine LD game.

ryjcio 2018-12-09 12:05

I love the art! It's really great! I didn't like a gameplay, I can't figure out what really is needed to be done and objective was very unclear for me. Also the mood was stresful for me, not relaxing. Great entry anyway!

jeu-embouteillage 2018-12-09 12:22

Screenshot_2018-12-09 Consilium by GamingNight.png

Very nice game, but the gameplay gets a little bit boring and repetitive after the first few games. I like the score mechanic though, it gives a reason to keep playing (i think the game gets more interesting once you've replayed it) overall a nice experience. (as other mentioned, the graphics and sounds are gorgeous !)

bbaf 2018-12-09 12:25

Great combination of simplicity, aesthetics, and design! Music is also awesome.

I accidentally have recalled your game from the previous LDJAM. This one definitely has more gameplay

royur 2018-12-09 13:39

love the artstyle. like everyone said seems can't go higher than 5k range.

hunter-towe 2018-12-09 16:11

I really liked the visuals! You used a nice color for the background that wasn't pure white, and the text looked really smooth. Also, the custom cursor was a really nice touch; it helps give your game more personality. I thought you put the theme to pretty good use. You may want to adjust some things, though, because I was able to get as high a score fully progressing the tiles as I was growing them less. It seemed impossible to maintain society after a certain point, so maybe the difficulty could be balanced just a little (although it could be because I'm not very good). This is just my own idea, but I think it could be nice to have some sort of in-game shop where you can purchase useful items to help you maintain the growth of society-- these items could come at the cost of some of the player's score, which certainly wouldn't stray from the theme. Other than a couple small things, this was an all around great entry!

arkinrev 2018-12-09 18:13

I really like the clean art and design of the game. The design choices are fantastic. The tile interactions with the resources were clear. The progression of the tile states didn't quite feel like a choice since they would decay down to previous resource tiers. In the end, it felt like resource triage and a little bit less like society design choices were being made. I have not put my finger on it just yet and I've played a few times through. It seems that I can do reasonably well just focusing on maximizing one tile at a time and then maintaining. ConsiliumSS1.png

meldrian 2018-12-09 19:21

Had a hard time figuring out what to do at first but it got me really quick after a few moments. I have to say i simply love the way this looks. That's what brought me here, btw. The audio is minimalistic and so is the gameplay. Somehow, i can't say why, it's quite addicting. Good job!

jimbly 2018-12-09 20:43

My score, 4466 x4 = 17864. Love the look and feel of this, well done!

captainpilot 2018-12-09 23:35

It looked and felt lovely, But holding down on the mouse try to get them all up felt weird. I just didn't understand what it had to do with sacrifice either?

meskaline 2018-12-10 14:09

I love this minimalistic graphics. Great concept, moody music. Just a great game to play. GJ!

selavy 2018-12-10 18:50

The art really is excellent, very soothing and complement the sparse ui very well.

rongo-matane 2018-12-10 20:26

I love the asthetics! It is very pleasant to look at and hear. Maybe i didn't understand all details, but it seems very thin gameplay wise. But this is also fine for, in the sense of being an experience more than a game. Good work!

ecmjohnson 2018-12-10 23:47

Beautiful look and the audio is great! I found it a very relaxing experience, despite the score and time pressure of trying to keep everyone progressing together

falak 2018-12-11 11:57

Great concept! I would like to see it as a full game. Maybe as such an unconventional city builder. Good luck.

v1ru6 2018-12-11 23:38

I was enjoying a good play through, starting with a nice clean art and original mechanics. Then at some point, as the number of controlled square grows exponentially, the frantic mouse clicking killed the experience. This gameplay doesn't scale well as is. But for a gamejam production, well done!

thomas-bringer 2018-12-12 12:56

Nice graphics and mood. But in my opinion, the gameplay isn't really fun. I just kept clicking around as fast as I could. Anyway, love the graphics, congrats! :D

secretpocketcat 2018-12-12 16:32

Very pleasant and chill experience, I usually prefer chaos though, so more tiles to manage with something like workers could lead to something more cut-throat. That would, however, go against the great visuals and sound, so really, just ignore that idea altogether  BTW. I got 5.3K.

arron-fowler 2018-12-14 14:04

What is to add really? Nice genuinly, nice in every way.

oddballdave 2018-12-14 14:16

Nice and relaxing game. Well presented and pretty intuitive. It does need a bit more interaction to take it to that next level. But all-in-all a great entry. Good stuff :8ball:

xlambein 2018-12-14 14:40

Very pretty game, I love the general mood and the graphics. The concept is also interesting, I haven't seen anything like it. Overall I really enjoyed it. The only negative point is that there wasn't a lot to do, and it was fairly repetitive.

pinho 2018-12-14 15:30

It's a nice parallel on our civilization. We can't growth indefinitely.

In term of design I find it's annoying that the limit is the time and not the resource itself. Because no matter the way you dispatch the resources (Water / Wind / Sun ) the player have no limit. Even if he managed well the distribution between the tiles, it's only the time that stop the growth.

Otherwise the graphics are clearly readable and understandable. The UI is really nice and clever.

It's a pretty game ;) Well done !

maxkyckling 2018-12-14 15:55

Wow. Now this is awesome! The game was really enjoyable with awesome art and audio. I really like the game idea! I got 4102 on development and x4 social harmony and 16408 society value! :D Good job guys, I'd love to see you win!

aurel 2018-12-14 16:56

Very gorgeous. I played through three times before I managed to make it to an all-solar late game with x5 Harmony, (4533x5 = 22665) but I felt kind of bad for all of my other undeveloped tiles. I wonder if I could get a higher score with the multipliers if I focused on a higher social harmony with forest tiles rather than solar, but I don't know.

Really nifty game - really enjoyed the style, but as others have said, the pacing suffered a bit by being either too fast - degradation was nearly impossible to manage, or too sparse, by not offering enough to do at times - but for a LD this was incredible.

publicidadeba 2018-12-14 19:25

The aesthetic of it was flawless, the gameplay was good but somewhat repetitive, but because the ending was pleasing. Not my type of game, but I think you guys will be nicely ranked. well done!

nekonyo 2018-12-15 19:03

The game is quite fun for playing a few times but it gets repetitive after 2 or 3 times. I tried a x7 combo of cities and I got 21238. the best I could achieve.

joh 2018-12-15 22:24

This is a beautiful game with a lot of feel. A bit simple in gameplay but it felt highly polished. The score did get me trying a few times, but the rules weren't too clear. I got the needed resource from the color (elegant display) but I didn't understand what led to harmony. from what I could tell there was no interaction between tiles. I feel that might have made thing more "stimulating" (through complexity) different tiles being next to each other having different effect(say slowing/increasing decay). it might loose a bit of the sacrifice theme, but if you want to expand on this, that might be interesting. Good job!

kleinzach 2018-12-16 16:55

Gorgeous game. The art style works so well, and the music goes great with it. The gameplay itself was meditative, if not particularly deep. I have a problem with games that are about "Plate Spinning", or keeping resource bars high as I just don't think it is an interesting mechanic, but I actually didn't mind too much in this one because of the meditative quality and the fact that those resource bars are abstracted away into nice art.

jusw85 2018-12-17 16:14

I got 5378x6=32268. I really love the aesthetic and mood, the line art is amazing and really sets the tone! I really wished there was more to the gameplay, feels quite simplistic at the moment, although it could work well as a relaxation game on mobile.

firesplash-entertainment 2018-12-17 18:04

Just played the game. Thanks for submitting! You can wathc the VOD for my experience if you want.

2018-12-19 12:14

Very interesting game! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Ludum Dare, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/RJjn8MPNuQ4

dwemthy 2018-12-23 17:48

Wonderful mood with the sound, drawings, and music. First time it loaded I actually had some kind of bug where the one tile you start with would not develop no matter how much I watered it. On a later play I also ran into a bug where the sunlight icon never showed up even though sunlight as a resource worked fine.

kingdork 2018-12-23 18:51

This game is too cozy! Love the art style. Simple but elegant. Music really ties it together. Great job!

papaver 2018-12-23 19:17

Nice game! I like the graphics and sounds. I'm not a big fan of the game mechanics in it's current form, but still I enjoyed playing around with it, and I think it has potential to grow. I kept my left mouse button always pressed, so perhaps you could make it automatic (is there ever a moment that you don't want to use the resources?). The scoring mechanism is unclear, so it's hard to tell what I am optimizing. Overall, very nice and polished entry!

henry-denny 2018-12-23 19:33

Awesome game! Loved the graphics and link to the theme! It was slightly hard to pick up but once I had worked it out I found it really fun!

acaral 2018-12-23 21:16

Wonderful idea, artisticly wonderful. You created a game so cool, so peaceful. And the concept based on reality is interesting. I have to say interesting is the best word to definite your entry.

ethan-kennerly 2018-12-24 21:19

When I held down the mouse and observed rainfall evolve into a forest, an encampment, and then a windmill, I felt meditative. If you continue to develop this, when tiles devolved and I rotated my attention between tiles, I didn't discover a way to sustain five or more tiles and continuing to increase the score. Then I felt discouraged.

sabrina-parenza 2018-12-26 00:25

Game concept is great! Loved the art.

2018-12-26 07:08

I love the basic game mechanism of making sure that you're maintaining your different tiles! Second the suggestions about perma-left clicking. I think this game really is great as-is though; I don't think it needs to be more goal driven, but maybe it would be good to take it the direction of Neko Atsume: a relaxing, atmospheric game that's just engaging enough to play when you want a break, surrounded by beautiful sounds and graphics.Capture.PNG

ludipe 2018-12-28 10:25

Loved the art, like a lot. I didn't dig the mechanics too much, some more depth would be appreciated, but what pushed me away was the pace. The art and concept of the game inspired a more relaxed mood, while the mechanics took me in a way different direction.

ava-skoog 2018-12-28 15:49

Really pretty game!

Got a bit confused at first but eventually figured it out. I thought for a long time that I had to keep shining on the space stations lest they deteriorate too, so I probably wasted a bit of time on that that, heh. Maybe there should pop up a checkmark icon or something on top of them to make it super clear that they need to more attention.

Minimalistic but nice audio. Chirping birds was a really nice touch and an interesting way to represent sunlight as opposed to the usual shimmery sound effects that get associated with light in games!

Really good job!
