Love it! Graphics are super pretty for a jam
I'm glad you like it!
Really well done! I can't think of a criticism - but the red squares definitely did not heal me >:(
Really well made. A really creative idea executed amazingly. Well done.
This is a baddass game! I took me a second to figure out how to play it, but once i did, I had a lot of fun.
Nice game! The mechanics worked very well, although I am rather bad at the game.
It would be nice if lives didn't carry between levels and you had health instead, so you can use the earlier levels to figure out the gameplay.
The concept is funny and graphics are very detailed, also the music is catchy
Thanks.
incredible graphic ❤️
Very impressive game for 2 days, well done!
Kinda hard to understand at times, but maybe I wasn't taking my time. The power up was a lot of fun, but having to start all over again when I died was no fun :/ Neat idea, just wish it was a little easier to play.
Once I realized I could step through bullets that were coming right at me... I was unstoppable. Cool game!
Wow this is freaking brilliant. Very well done.
Catchy music and fun, pretty, gameplay. Great entry!
This is a great idea. Seems like there's a lot of possibility for clever AI--like a hybrid between a bullet hell and chess
The graphics are pretty good, and the game is fun! The only problem that I had was with the controls. Sometimes when I was trying to aim at a right angle, I would move by accident. The two controls are too close to each other. Try increasing the radius of the aiming circle by a few "pixels" or decreasing the size of the movement buttons by a very small amount.
Nevermind, I didn't realize that you could click anywhere to aim. I thought you had to click exactly on the aiming circle.
A very interesting game, and a very different take on the turn-based bullet hell than [my game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/bullets-of-insight).
The graphics and audio were simple but effective, and I very much enjoyed it.
Sometimes, when the screen got busy, it was hard to tell which squares were safe and which weren't. It would've been nice to highlight all of the square that the bullets were *going to be*. Also, making clicking both aiming and moving felt kinda bad, sometimes I was just a little off and moved when I meant to shoot (and the vice versa). Being able to make all clicks aim and using arrow keys/WASD for movement would've been nice.
In addition, starting from the beginning on death is very annoying.
Love the concept and the artstyle, great job.
That distortion effect looks very good and helps differentiate your game from all the other ones out there. Very solid game
I couldn't figure out how to play at first, but once I did it was fun to play.
I never knew that I needed a turn-based bullet hell game. Superhot is fun, but this was even better timing.
Thank you for suggesting I play your game.
wow! so cool! but have some troubles with aiming system because hero some times want go without shooting because target is too close...
I like the artistic style of the game and the cross over of the turn-based & bullet game. Quite impressive result for a LD !
Wow, amazing game, loved the artstyle and gameplay, congratulations!
Fun game! I like the pixel art in combination with the bloom. It took me a while to get the controls, but I had fun once I got it. Anyway, enjoyed playing the game! Great job!
Thanks for playing, the controls are: -Click on a dot to move and shoot -Click anywhere else to aim
Pixelart + bloom? What a nice combo! I needed some time to understand the controls, but in the end I had loads of fun! You nailed the theme combining two different genres. Solid and nice entry, thanks!
Well done! Really enjoyed it! Addictive, challenging and fun.
My only critic is that I'm not a fan of the green, red and orange color scheme. They are hard on color blinds.
Enjoyed it, sucker for good pixel art
cool concept ! quite hard at the beggining to see what are our bullets. And you dont know if you gonna touch an ennemy.
Great game! But I didn't really understand, what the red blocks are doing.
Wow. Really awesome concept, well executed, good sound track, immediately understandable, and a beautiful marriage of genres. My favorite game so far. This is not a once-and-you're-done kind of game.
My only critique is that I think for readability you need to have every game object lerp to their new positions. I know classically turn-based games are cool jerking from tile to tile, but (A) 2018 and (B) there's so much moving on the screen it's difficult to get a sense of velocity from one turn to the next. Lerping would solve that problem nicely, I think.
I really enjoyed this and will be showing others. Great work!
Linux version, please? Or html5 <3
Now that was something nicely done.
Very cool! I've seen a couple turn based bullet hells done so far but this is definitely one of the more polished takes on it.
Fantastic work here! The concept of doing a turn based (grid based) bullet hell is amazing, and it worked great! The game was good fun. Got to level 6 as of writing this comment, and the music does its job of being that background noise so that the game feels better, however I do feel that the music could use a little more variety, as I did get tired of hearing it after a while. Overall great game! great job! ;)
i liked graphics
It's super fun! I really like it.
idk I think I DID have fun hugging the bullets idk about u
Great work here, I'm not a big fan of bullet hell games, but this was a much more fun take on them for me :)
art and everything looks really cohesive this is awesome
Well done. The graphics are very stylish and the chromatic aberration effect and the music intensify the style! I immediately thought of some futuristic scifi scenario like blade runner or matrix.
Phenomenal combination of two genres. I would absolutely play this for hours, especially on my phone. Suggestion: often I move when I mean to aim, or vice-versa, so maybe there is a way to improve that UI. Great work!
I really like this. Reminds me of Crypt of the Necrodancer.
amazing game, at first was hard to understand the aiming, but after getting it, the game gets really fun
Nice work lads! We also did a very original too, ye mid check it out?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/hype-time
@oscartrevejo I tried your game, and it was great! The art style is good and the gameplay is very well designed. All I need is more levels!
Really really enjoyed this!
Audio, visual, and gameplay all matched perfectly! Incompatible no more!
This game is the incredibly fun. I made it to level 9 before losing, and enjoyed it the whole way through. I am also very impressed with the subtle language you used in the game. Very little is actually outright explained, but the visual cues teach a lot, and while the board is completely filled, the simple art style and use of color, make it very easy to understand what is happening. Thumbs up all around!
very impressed by the concept and the execution. great art, great design, and ran great. keep it up!
Really great concept ! It plays smoothly and it is really cool ! It is quite stressful to make your next move when you are surrounded by so many projectiles. By the way levels gets smoothly together, ennemies are fun, the gameplay is fun. I really enjoy playing it. The art style is also great. Well done everybody :)
Good concept, lovely artwork and great level design, I especially enjoy your pixel art, very simple & very efficient, very solid entry, good job
The idea is great. It felt a lttle hardto me.
A little difficult to understand a first but nice concept. Good audio and graphics. Good job!
Music and sound effects are great. great atmosphere but the actual gameplay is little hard to understand.
I agreed. It takes some time to get used to the controls and mechanics at first.
This is a really great implementation of both genres together. The turn based nature gives it a semi-tactical feel to avoiding and simultaneously shooting back at your opponents. The only thing that feels a bit weird is firing; it doesn't feel as obvious as moving on the grid. Nonetheless it is a fantastic game!
This game's pretty neat. I do have a gripe with not having the option to stay still (and it telling me that red tiles heal me), but it's overall pretty fun.
Great job there! Hahaha! \o/ You've done a great game! It is really fun to play once I knew what happens on the screen! haha! The music, sound and visual effects where nice too!
Thank you for your great game.
Great implementation of genres! I was pretty confused about how to shoot at first because I thought the green bullets where ghosts. Any plans for a html5 version?
I’d love for you to review my submission as well.
Great Game! My game genres are similar to yours. A different approach makes a different experience and has different fun. Your game inspires me possible designs about this genres combination. Nice Work! :D
I Really like this one! good job
Tricky! You found a genuinely interesting strategy game here. Took me a while to figure out you fired *after* moving. Very addictive and polished. Good job.
A strategic shooter of sorts is my impression of it. It is well-executed and gets to be quite the chess match in the later levels. The turn-based movement/shooting works quite nicely. Well done.
Love the bloom and the screen shake. I found aiming a bit difficult since clicking is used to both move and aim at the same time, and I found aiming only worked if you are clicking right on the green character.
@gamepopper you aim by clicking anywhere on the map. You fire at the time you click to move.
Hope that helps!
Fantastic use of the theme. It all meshes really well together. Great job!
Great entry! Love turn-based games to start with, when you get use to the controls it has a really nice flow, the music and sound-effects the style of the project all helps with that.
Took some time to master the controls and understand things properly, but once I did I found it very stimulating and enjoyable to play! Even though it's turn based, you still get stress of constant waves of bullets that you get in a bullet hell game. Especially for your ages, great job!
This really was good. Excellent jam submission. My only critique was not knowing when I was dying - I had no idea why I died or when I would die. Music is awesome, visuals are cool! If you have a minute make sure to check ours out! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/raucous+raccard It's not nearly as complete but we're pretty excited about it.
A fancy turn based game give players stg-like experience and the vibration is combined with the turn-based manipulation perfrctly. What's more,I like 8-bit pixels. Upvote :-D
Innovative use of the theme with really fun gameplay. Props for finishing such a great project at such a young age!
Very creative, turn based bullet hell! I was able to get to level 5, one of the messages was "red tiles heal you" I don't think that is correct as it said in the beginning to stay away from them
i loved art. good job!
Nice take on the theme. Like @notgreat said, I wonder if a combination of mouse/keyboard instead of just mouse would have made the controls a bit easier to grasp - I was just kind of stumbling along blindly for the first few levels, but I grokked it before it was too late.
Yeah, we choose only mouse input because that we could get the controls out of the way when porting the game to Android, which is what we are currently working on.
In general, the game has implemented very solid design on all fronts. A few tweaks here and there and this could easily be a commercial product.
@SuperTibbles that makes a lot of sense. I could see this turning into a *phenomenal* mobile game.
Artwork is great. Sometimes there are too many things overlapping and it's hard to tell exactly what's going on. Great game otherwise!
This is a fantastic game with a fantastic concept. It's almost like a 2D SuperHot. Really impressive, especially considering your age!
Great game, I love SHMUPS and Bullet Hell games, I like the turn based aspect, makes it a kind of puzzle game. Really well done!
Fantastic and smooth. Excellent visuals and witty clues. :P Loved it!
GG
Holy cow so much fun. This one almost totally derailed my stream today because I didn't want to stop playing. Finally a bullet-hell game I can understand and not be terrible at because I have time to make decisions. Some minor controls tweaking are my only suggestions, its pretty un-intuitive on keyboard but it sounds like you want to go mobile (and you already have my suggestions there).
like it, nice art)
Very impressive, never thought you could make bullet hell turn-based! Props on the polish too - I spent quite a lot of time on this.
Very well polished! I really like the aiming and the fact that you can dodge bullets without having to be quick. Perfect for slow old me!
I really love the art style!
love your art and audio, good job!!
Groove music, stylish menu and interesting graphic style) Cool!
this is my favorite so far. dont really have any feedback just thought id share that :P
I've been playing this for a long time , i realy enjoy it!
Take a look on my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/vector-rabbits-slayer
welp.. 13 years old making this good. keep it up!
Classy. A few odd things though:
Half the orthogonal bullets cannot hit the player, once they have been fired they are in lockstep with player movement, and only if that lockstep is aligned can they hit.
It is not obvious what tiles a diagonal bullet will hit, but it seems to be a pretty big area, making them much more powerful than the orthogonal bullets. Maybe they should just be grid-aligned?
Proper fun! Well done :)
Very fun and polished game! The graphics are simple but perfect - the lighting of the tiles really help the atmosphere, as well as the small animations. Fun music. Lots of interesting decisions on where to go and where to aim.
It is perhaps a tad difficult to see what's going on after a while.
Being able to move with WASD and aim with the mouse would speed it up a bit.
This was really well done! The art and audio were really fitting and the gameplay was fresh and exciting. I found it a little hard to see what was going on occasionally, but the effects made my mistakes look stunning. Great job!
i love the pixelart So cute! I don't care if I lose because it's okay play one more time to see the game <3
This was a lot of fun. It was a great mashup of genres. I enjoyed the strategic element of the game, but I wish you allowed the player to be moved with the keyboard as well as the mouse. I'm sure this is playable on a phone or tablet also, but having to click near the character to move would throw me off.
Great music and aesthetic!
EDIT: I also laughed at the Tip: Dying Reduces lives
Happy you like it!. We choose to only use the mouse so it would eliminate one step for porting it to Android, which is our current goal. Thanks for your feedback!
Great game, great work!!
Nice piece of art  liked the music the graphics and the gameplay. Overall a great experience
Nice graphical style and good strategic gameplay. Very good work overall!
This is so fantastic! A turn-based bullet hell that honestly just works. I especially love the "tips" between levels. Great job!
It's a fun and pretty grueling game, which I suppose means that it successfully managed to bring the bullet-hell aspect of the mix through.
Feedback: + Nice minimalist art style overall, and the grid had just the right visual balance to remain subtly in the background but just visible enough to see clearly. + Sound effects were pretty limited, but what was there was good. The loudness on some needs tweaking badly, as they were too loud and kind of abrasive. + The "buttons" and UI overall work well once you get it all down, but many could be made a bit clearer (i.e. "onwards" did not seem like a button, etc.). + The cheeky humor that is the game's "voice" trying to deceive the player is a flavorful idea, but it needs to have some visual hints to indicate so. + Enemy behavior is solid but rudimentary. Slight variations in their behavior would feel more organic, and player actions would be less fixed into patterns. + Power-ups or coins are rather difficult to reach in many cases, causing the player to clear the level first before being able to reach them in many cases. + Aiming is a bit awkward because the player's bullets are spawned at the set angles "after" moving to the next position rather then before moving. + Color choices are distinct & intuitive, but the saturation/contrast levels could be lowered a bit to lessen eye-strain. I got a slight headache from it.
The core gameplay and exploration of the genre mixing is well done, but the game still needs some fine-tuning in select areas.
In all, good execution and solid mechanics here. Nice work.
Epic music and effects! It took me a few tries to understand what was going on, but a solid puzzle/strategy game overall. Congrats!
Great work! AND HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS ARE 13!?
;)
Good job :)
WOW concept with turn based bullet hell =) Like to think the tactics on every enemy which has unique behaviour.
Two cons for me:
1) unfriendly controls. I often move instead aiming, it's critical for this game.
2) Cheating enemies. They're walks through walls? What the banana is this?
More polished this will be sweet game, I promise!
Turnbased Bullet Hell So audacios xD
I Loved IT!
Played until the end. Congratulations. Great game!!!
Great game. It is really fun to play and looks great. I also love those "healing" red tiles, they were "helpful". My only problem was that in some levels I was having a hard time seeing things in crowded scenes but I think that this may be normal in bullet hell games.
Hey thanks for submitting this to my stream :) I like the genres you've combined, it was fun to play and made you think tactically before making moves. One thing that was frustrating was I'd end up moving when I meant to aim which caused me to lose lives when I shouldn't have. One simple fix that comes to mind is putting the aim action on the other mouse button. Nice work overall!
Very fun! I also made a turn-based bullet hell game :)
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/card-em-up-1
my highscore-63220 Good job guys! The art and gameplay were solid. I wish I was making games this cool when I was 13.
Awesome game! Congrats, I had a lot of fun playing it!
This was an amazing entry! Are you all really that young!?
The art, sound and gameplay all compliment each other so well! I'm honestly blown away by the polish and quality of this game!
Really nice concept. I really enjoyed the fact that it's about micro-decisions that makes it quick to play. But i was frustrated because when i tried to aim at a direction, it moved instead. Nice work anyway.
Keep working on games to make even better ;)
[My game](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/engine-in-shadow)
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/witchs-escape
Cool game, really good concept. Personally not my kind of game, but there's a lot of polish put into it!
Well done.
could really use a tutorial. Wasn't every really sure what I was doing.
Awesome game! The gameplay is super fun and I love the art.
Wow that was an awesome game... To bad i continuesly die at level 8. Anyway i think that would give a good selling mobile game even in this early state.
really reminds me of a game that we made once, but you have better sound and graphics, really fun play
An awesome concept , a bit hard to understand , could had some feedback for the bullet's path during the first levels , but i really love your project =) GG !!!
One of the best entries of seen hands down. Good job!
Superb entry! I loved every aspect of the game! The gameplay is really well thought and the level design let the user dive in the mechanics nicely. Awesome graphics! 5/5
Really cool submission for you age. Suggestion: split controls - make aiming or moving say on mouse 2. Otherwise It often happens that instead of aiming player missclicks white dot and makes accidental wrong move. Also consider WASD movement controls as an option - this way the game will become much more dynamic.
This is a really amazing concept amazingly well executed. I love how the turn based nature of the game allows you to take your time and carefully make decisions; it makes for a very different type of bullet hell game. I also like just how many new mechanics got introduced as I progressed through the game. The game never seemed to run out of ideas. Add onto that solid visuals and audio and you got yourself an excellent entry. Great job!
Great Game, you guys did an amazing job. graphics, audio and gameplay are solid as rock..very nice take on the theme..sometimes i accidently moved when i wanted to aim, that is something i would improve if you decide to continue work on this little jam. p.s. titlescreen music is awesome.
Thank you! You can click on any tile/enemy to aim, not just the circle.
Love how fast you can learn mechanics of the game, really simple but addictive. Nice visuals and music, good job!
A very cool and well executed project. I love the way you combined the genres. Graphics and audio are well suited. Easy to learn, it's getting hard damn fast.
I also often accidentally clicked on movement buttons when I wanted to aim, but hey, that just happens.
What I dislike a bit is that the scaling factor for the pixel optics seems to be fixed - I initially couldn't see the whole playing area on my screen, only in full screen or when using browser based resizing. I also find the bullets difficult to differentiate when they overlap, mostly due to the coarse graphics.
Woha, I just noticed that two of you are only 13! That's unbelievable, if you continue like that you have a great career ahead of you
Very creative combination and well implemented. However sometimes it was difficult to predict whether the next tile was going to be hit or not. One possible idea that might make this clearer would be to use a hex grid.
Extremelly creative and engaging game! Dodging so many bullets in a turn based basis is quite rewarding. It is somewhat difficult at first to get the movements right but when you get used to it it's great. Music keeps the rhythm and mood, and graphics are cool and effective.
Nice work! Especially at your age! :)
Nicely designed game with some good ideas behind it. I loved the cheeky little hints between levels. I personally had a hard time figuring out where all the bullets were going or where to dodge at some points, but that's something easily fixed and it might just be me.
Very engaging and interesting game! Really loved the idea and the gameplay.. The fact that you've got 191 ratings at the time of writing this proves that people loved your game! Well done...
Btw try out my game here if you want: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/memebumps Would really appreciate your rating and feedback.
Hey there, the idea of combining these two concepts would seem difficult but you made it work in a way that is fun to look at, and fun to play. I think you did a good job with this idea. But I was confused at first about the shooting because I didn't actually see my bullet when it shot. All in all though I think this is really fun. My only issue is the sounds are kind of sharp, but besides that, this was very fun to play. Nice Work!
The idea is great! Game is fun as well. (wow you guys are so young, when I was 13 I made crappy flash games!) my feeling right now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKhpE-oNoGY
Fantastic stuff, really demonstrates how simple, effective art can be elevated with some carefully chosen effects. The gameplay feels frantic despite being turn based, which I think is accentuated by the music, which has just the right rhythm. My favourite part was the incredibly insightful tips :) Really great work overall!
Wow! This reminds me a ton of [a project I did a long time ago](https://sites.google.com/site/ddrkirby/coding-projects/patientbarrage) which was a turn-based 1v1 bullet-hell game (with AI). That game had an atrocious control scheme and was not intuitive at all, but it's nice to see the concept explored in a much more user-friendly way. Great job!
Got to level 8 where I proceeded to lose a bunch of lives due to some bad decisions, bah!
@DDRKirbyISQ WOW that video looked great! Your game seemed super cool!
Awesome game! Feels really nice and complete! Good job! Thank you for making this game!
Blimey this is terrific. Nice going guys!
When I planned to dodge aliens and shoot them, I felt clever! If you continue to develop this, when I clicked the green ring and sometimes moved in that direction, I felt confused.
@Ethan-Kennerly click anywhere on the game board to aim, not just the green circle. That is just a visual indicator of where you are aiming. We improved the tutorial on the google play version as many people are confused about that.
Thanks for playing!
Great game!
Thank you!
