Alright. Played through it! I liked the graphics, even though they are a bit rough, they had a lot of personality, like the crawl and respawn animations. I also liked how you implemented the jam theme with the floppy collection / loading. I had some issues with the moving platforms though (dropping through them and getting stuck) but overall a nice entry. Good job!

I loved this game! I thought you made great use of the theme. The graphics could have used a little more color differentiation, specifically in the background. Other than that it was a good game.

For some reason I can't go left while crawling, but I really enjoyed the idea!

Nice! I really enjoyed the concept of loading parts of levels as you go, and the twist with running out of space is nicely implemented. The retro graphics look cool, too. My only quibble is that the jumping feels a bit jerky and not very smooth, although after a while I kind of got used to it.

@pedroaz can you tell us in which section? We didn't found such issue with crawling :-O But it would be definitely worth fixing!

Really cool game! Not a flop at all.
Good game!
I like the idea of using floop disk to load the map. I just have one question: It's supost to stay stop on the air when attacking?
EDIT - I missed the audio, maybe a 8-bit sound, but I'm not very good with audio.
Very nice game! I first thought that the "get all the floppy" was just a bad excuse to fit the theme but in the end it was really clever! The textures missing, the platforms appearing, all that was a really good way to fit the theme! Good job. Sadly, there are some collision bugs, nothing horrible but still annoying sometimes. Some platform were maybe a little bit to hard to reach, even with the double jump. I know it's a way to make the game more and more difficult but sometimes I just didn't think I could reach the platform and that I did something wrong that couldn't let me finish the game. But in the end I finished the game and it was fun to play it! Congrats ;)

I really enjoyed this game ! The idea of adding and removing parts of the same level to change it is fun. I also liked the graphics, there are lots of small details in the animations that make the game more lively. Good job !

Cute! I enjoyed the flapping hairs when the character falls down, and the glitches! :> Jumping physics felt a bit stiff and frustrating. But the checkpoints were quite forgiving. And I missed sound! The attacking mechanic seemed underused.
Unlocking new mechanics was enjoyable, and I found it convenient to have the controls on-screen! Good job!
Really cool game! Loved the theme and concept behind it, very clever. I like how everything loads and unloads. I also liked the artwork and feel, felt like more of a classic which is what I love. Great work

The multiple levels within the same level as you progress is really cool. The art style and animations are also great.
The animations are fantastic especially that respawn and crawl animation, I like how the floppies unlock your abilites and produce these graphical errors, nice use of the theme, like the others I had problems with the jumping, some platforms take many many tries to get on even with double jump.
Very cool! (: The art was really cool, and i also liked the way the levels are loaded in the same level (some times(?)). I never used the 'attack button' (Going to try with the boxes, after publishing this [Yup, that work]). Some music would be great, but the game was fun as it is. Good Work!
Enjoyed it! Loved the animation when picking up the floppy disks! Very innovative idea.

The stand out for me is when you collect a floppy disk and, since there isn't enough space, the game loses some of its graphics - that was really creative, and a really good use of theme. I wish it would have been used more, specially for progression (whereas collecting one would make the game "forget" part of the level, opening up new pathways or closing others, all complete with screwy graphics as one would find from corrupted ROMs).
Otherwise, it's a straightforward platforming title, but still an enjoyable one. Hiding the last floppy disk on the left side of the screen to be obscured by the controls was pretty troll-ish tho...

The game is pretty well done! Great job! Interesting feature with that "memory shortages" visual effects
The only thing is that it seems like the character falls down too rapidly

This is by far my fav Ludum Dare 42 game, It's really fun the Idea is simply great!. The controls could uses some work. Other than that its a really good game!
That was awesome fun - I like the concept and it was well executed. I especially liked when the graphics glitched out a bit after an error floppy.

That was fun, I like the concept but the jump and fall are a little too fast for my liking. Good job!
This is a really cool game. I enjoyed playing through it. Cool character concept and abilities, and well animated.

I really love this kind of game:)
Very cute and fun game. :) Enjoyed being a cube. There were some glitches on the platforms but nothing some small hops couldn't fix. Very good entry!
Very unique. I liked it.

Hi ! Your game was pretty cool, I was a bit surprised by the way you scripted the jump (really big gravity :D !), but I got used to it very quickly. The game feels quite smooth because you made a lot of different checkpoints, which is cool cause you always die like crap. My only concern would be about the "attack" option, I didn't feel like it was really useful, hitting crates wasn't really a big deal since I could jump around them. I think you could have either removed this option and get a more slower level design (where we would not get the double jump so quick, for instance), or either build up a LOT OF CRATES. But this is probably cause you ran out of time ;). One last thing, really liked how you designed the fact that when we miss space, graphisms quality gets lowered; but it led me to some bugs on the section with the flying platform : if you stand on one of them and are in "cube mode", you can go get stuck in the platform and get through it ! Idk if someone else noticed it. Well, that was a pretty cool game, thanks for making it ;)
i had quite some fun with this game and I must say, the concept is interesting I also really enjoyed the graphics. It would be really nice if there was some music or sound tho.
Overall, good job
This is a pretty fun game. I like the parts where there's an error and parts of the level look all glitched out. It would have been cool if that had affected gameplay and wasn't just an aesthetic thing, but it's a nice effect none the less. I'm not a big fan of this game's jump; it's a bit too fast due to the high gravity. I like how you get new moves along the way, keeping the game new and exciting. That said, I feel like you missed an opportunity to have obstacles I couldn't get through before that I can go back to once I've acquired a certain disk, instead of the obstacles only appearing once I've gotten the necessary power up. I feel that this game missed a few opportunities to really shine, but, overall, this is a solid game that I had a lot of fun playing. Nice work!
I really liked the concept of map changing based on collecting floppy disks. However, I have to say the controls and character movement is quite clunky.
On the other hand, I think that you absolutely nailed the instructions. They were very descriptive and intuitive. Teaching the player game mechanics step by step makes the tutorial not daunting
**After a few tries I managed to complete the game, so it's definitely possible** The Flopp - Win.gif
Unfortunately, I had some issues with collision detection. Sometimes the character just goes through moving objects :slight_frown: The Flopp - Collisions bug.gif
Pretty neat!
As seen on the @mza gif, double jumping was a bit off. You had to quickly do both the jumps to get the most air. I think it'd be better to reset the vertical velocity first and then add the second jump (to get rid of the potential downward velocity gimping up the second jump) so the optimal strategy would be the natural way of jumping again at the peak of the first jump. Gravity could overall be turn down just a notch to make the jumps more controllable. There was also sometimes this weird jittering when landing from a double jump.
flopp-doublejump.gif
I wasn't a huge fan of the blind drops of faith. Could pan the camera down while the character is crouching or something to alleviate that.
The aesthetic was cool. Rarely see this mspaint style look with nice animations. There was bit of a mismatch between the character art style and the environment but it still worked and actually made the character pop out nicely. The respawning animation got a bit annoying, it could have been faster (at least after the first one). Well at least the game wasn't super hard and long so it didn't get super annoying.
The new powerup text was way too small and quick to disappear. I quite often had to check the upper left controls for a clue on what I got. The text could have easily been big enough that the characters were the size of well, the player character. And speaking of powerups, I'm smelling a bit of running out of development time with that punching ability...
Anyways, good job!

Cool little game! I was this close to claudicate thinking there was no ending, but then I saw it.
Also there was a weird jump I had to try and bug in order to reach a certain platform. But those were minor issues.
Really clever use of the theme, as you focused more on the consequences of the lack of space rather than the idea itself, well done!
A little tuning - and it will be ab absolutely great game! As people told earlier, there are some flaws with jumping and level design. Floppy humor is so heartwarming, and every time I've collect those floppys I sit in anticipation of something cool happens. And it happens! The tutorial for controls is brilliant, just brilliant. I like the art style - it's simple and every look of the thing is matching the style of another, which is great. Looking forward to see what you'll make on the next Ludum Dare!

Nice little platformer. I like how the textures start to disappear because the floppies are running out of space. Graphics are also good, though the character seems a bit less detailed than the terrain. The game screen being in the top left of the browser didn't feel quite right, but it was tolerable. Good job.

The glitch is really cool, it takes away the precedence of oneself. I need to save the world!
The tension of loading the floppy disk can be enhanced if the "not enough space" appears after loading. The first time the error appeared was a surprise but with the error appeared at the beginning, I knew exactly what would happen at the next error.

Really nice idea, cool graphic representation of out of memory :D some part were a bit too tight to feel good but otherwise it's a great game :)
I loved the pixel art, and the idea is great. That glitch while loading from a floppy disk was also a great inclusion. Loved it!

When my character was in "out of memory" state, it was falling through the moving platforms, was that intended or is it a bug? Made me stuck :( Apart from that, the platforming mechanic was pretty neat and felt pretty tight, so I enjoyed playing your game, thanks for that! Also the graphics and idea both pleased my heart!
I am glad you had save points, I got to play the whole game without the frustration of starting over. Always nice to see in a game jam. I was quite impressed with the game, while the art could use some polish and lack of audio makes me sad, the game has character and didn't feel like a generic platformer. Nice job!
The game is amazing!! I love the pixel art and the little details. The loading character after dying is awesome and the glitch as well with the loading errors haha. I would love to listen some soundtrack and sound while playing but even tough is great. The concept and the story is fun as hell. Great work!!
Good luck! 8)

Thank you very much for playing our game guys! We really do appreciate your feedback! And we hope it will help us in the future. Few days back we have released first update, that fixes the jumping on the platforms and some other minor issues. @jushiip @storm626 @pedroaz @senokos @mosaic @qkerguelen @hygon @powlow-paolo @tgb20 @digitaldude555 @mattincho @lou-bagel @maytch @dankar @jsmcag @kpded @alien @nathanhoad @lsd @meatpudding @prema @rebecca-kremer @raccoon-js @prema @mza @darylsteak @manusaiz @skyc @tymus @anubhav-kashyap @flaterectomy @bichodust
@rafael-endo @blinry @demn - attacking is not bit redundant :D and you can very easily finish the game without it. 8-bit-ish sounds were intended, as few other things (attack) we didn't make it work on time
@superpokeunicorn you are definitely true that we have missed few things here and there. The thing is that we had to cut-off some things in order to finish the game :)
@jonasz999 @romanchesco we are so glad that you had good experience with our instructions. This was one of our goals actually, to show all of this to player intuitively, so he will be able to play the game without reading any description before :)
@antti-haavikko thank you for great feedback tips! And yes, your nose was right about the smell :D
@noxbuds Where would you prefer the game screen to be positioned? We would love to hear really every feedback so we can try to work on that to our future projects. Anyway thanks a lot for your feedback!
@honey the falling was definitely not intended and we have just fixed that recently. There was a workaround in witch you had to be constantly jumping in order to move forward. Sorry for that. But we are really glad that apart from that, your heart was pleased! :)
@notbadgun Thanks I guess :)

I really loved the reload for death animation. Some of the precision jumping did get a little frustrating. I found the graphics disappearing due to running out of space as interesting but it did not add too much to the gameplay. Some music would also be nice. I don't know if there were enemies because I did not play much farther after the moving platforms, but it is somewhat weird if there is an attack, but it is just used to break boxes. The game was fun.
Loved the main mechanic with the world changing! Really impressive to get that all setup and working with content in the span of Ludum Dare! Thanks for sharing your game with my stream awhile back. Your game was played around 2:28 into this vod: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/297885983
