LD42 — Running out of space

Stepping Stones by Ithildin 2018-08-24T09:23:16Z

Good and simple take of the theme. These kind of games never get old ;) it was quite entertaining to play ! You made a good job on the puzzles and the sound design, also on the animation (this little guy's happy face is rewarding enough :D !) I think the only thing missing would be some musics, but you probably ran out of time ! Good job for your game :)

UNTIL I RUN OUT OF SPACE by xk_the_name 2018-08-22T19:54:02Z

Hi there ! Enjoyed reading your little story.

Graphisms are minimalist but the little icons u made for each memory of a planet are pretty great.

Music is really peaceful, It felt chill to travel planets by planets without any fight but just for filling my dreams.

About the text now : I feel like you could have implanted choices in some planets, also a less explicit description of the planet. Maybe some planets could hold two elements given our choices ? This would add more replayability and would be more fun to play. The tone of the text is really peaceful, I loved the mood you gave to the game, this lone guitar playing some random chords behind really put me back in highschool or smthing haha.

Really liked the concept of the game and the mood you gave. Good job !

Alien by ghust1995 2018-08-16T14:54:25Z

Hey ! For some reason I can't really play the game. Once it launches, I see the level getting built up then .. Nothing, and nothing seems to work. Am I missing something ? Would love to play your game, I'm probably missing something ! Also, do you think it would be possible for you to make a video of you playing the game ? Since it's multiplayer I'd love to see that, if you ever got time ! Music is groovy atm, loving it :P

Alien by ghust1995 2018-08-16T16:50:29Z

OKay thanks you, I got the game to work ! This is a really interesting idea, indeed working as a Mario Party game with assymetric gameplay. I haven't been able to play a real game with other players but the jump mecanic feels really good, much like in a Mario Party; it's not clunky or anything. It's a nice bet to actually make a multiplayer game on a LD, so congratulations for that :)

Speed-Shooter by coomzy 2018-08-31T10:52:34Z

Bronze everytime, I suck :D ! Really liked your game idea, it's quite simple and indeed, doesn't really fit the theme. But that's a pretty neat concept and I had a good time. Good job !

Chickens & Elves by Meta-link 2018-08-22T14:28:06Z

That's a cute little funny game ! I really liked the whole tone and mood. Graphics are cute and good, music fits in perfectly and the game feels quite relaxing. The theme fits great with this game. I just feel like sometimes my clicks aren't quite registered, but it's maybe the html5 version that struggles a bit. Good job !

Salvation* by Riccardo Sioni 2018-08-20T12:49:36Z

Very contemplative game, you took a classic turn on the theme but put it in a very unconventional way, which makes the game really interesting.

I felt like the sound effect of the character being scared and breathing was a little too much. This isn't really about the sound volume, but more about the fact it is constant, and breaks a bit the simulation / invitation to become the character in my point of view.

Felt like you wanted to create something like in Amnesia or other FrictionalGames' types of games, which I really liked, so props for that :D The music is good in my opinion, I just feel like you could have lowered a bit the scared breathing, and put the music a bit higher. Thanks you for making this game, I had some fun trying to go through hell without getting crushed by bodies :D

Salvation* by Riccardo Sioni 2018-08-20T14:02:44Z

I'd be very glad to play your game again once you worked on the sound aspects; feel free to PM me when it's done !!

Running from ⭐⭐Space⭐⭐ by sobakaduka 2018-08-22T20:22:53Z

Nice game you got there !

I think everyone already commented what I wanted to tell you haha, the grapple feels great to use, but I mean fuck enemies they're just here to make our character go UH UH UH UH UH,

if you're doing a postjam version I think you should try to either remove enemies, either make them more threatful. Maybe killing enemies reload your grappling, or add range to it, or momentum to the character ?

Something silly like this could reward accuracy and speed, as well as giving us a fucking good feeling or flying all along the level :D !

That's a pretty fun game based on a simple idea, and a literal take on theme. Good job lads :D

Where Stars Belong by NORRIMO 2018-08-17T10:50:42Z

Hey ! I really your game's whole vibe. It's smooth and chill, and I found it great how you did insert other elements in this atmosphere (with the vinyl CD for instance). It reminded me a lot of some stuff you can witness in The Witness (now that's a pun), where some elements might seem odd, but actually add another layer of meanings to the game. The audio is good, and the game plays good, but I would really like to give you credits for the art and design, which reminds me a lot of Rime in a more "terrestrial" palette, with brownish colors. Also, I used to little secret to take a shower made of stars. It was really good. Thanks you for this experience, and please keep working on games like this. Good job !

BALL BUSTERS by tedbolt 2018-08-17T15:15:30Z

Hey there ! Played your game against the bat a couple of time (Idk how I'm supposed to beat this fucking bat it just wrecks me). I don't feel like it especially fits the theme, but I feel like this is a very fun idea and a good take on video game's classic overall. Sound design gives good feedback, graphisms are clear enough, and you managed to create a menu + a tutorial screen in the game, which is very good. Good job there !

Taco Time by thedragonllama 2018-08-17T20:41:07Z

Hi ! I found your game to be very frustrating, I haven't been able to complete one single order because I always ended up having the wrong ingredients to fall down, and it just took like 15 ingredients to finally have one for my current order ! I think you could fix that very easily :) The game lacks sound, maybe I didn't activate it and there is a way to do it (please tell me :D). Your take on the theme is very funny and cool, I also wanted to give you a big congratulations for these art works ! You really did a lot of them and they're all very good. Good job !

Become a Monster by Rodrigo DenĂșbila 2018-08-28T07:03:17Z

I wish I had named my character John Cena :D very fun concept of the game, I liked how you used the theme ! The only thing that would have been incredible would be sounds and music, ! Really liked your game and graphisms are pretty neat, congratulations !

Also, sometimes the bot gets blocked on some paths, maybe you can fix this issue if you do a postjam version ? Thanks for making this game !

Running Misadventures by aemiliu5 2018-08-31T10:47:24Z

Nice entry ! The art style is very good, music is hype and I think the game plays nice (I don't have any problems with controls).

I just feel like the game is little bit too "free punitive". Sometimes the boulder just falls on you and you can't really escape :D I would have loved to see maybe a growing shadow indicating the rock was about to crash, or something like this. Also you did put a lot of leap of faith, which is okay but this isn't great to just fall and miss the platform because we were too fast (can happen with the speed up pot !). Overall a great entry and game, I just feel like this need some polish in terms of feedbacks for the player ! Good job :)

Test Subject 42 by nihilaleph 2018-08-24T09:14:03Z

Overall good game ! Liked how you used the concept for something very peticular, it was quite funny. The game is good without music as it actually feel more "real". Only music that would have fitted would have been something really ironic like smooth jazz imo.

My only "complaint" would be that you can bash away the computer giving the instructions, which results in well, end of the game :D thus we can't really play, but that's a part of the game to actually being able to throw it haha. Throwing things is, indeed, quite satisfying :P Good job !!

Descension by Dragojt 2018-08-24T09:05:30Z

a very good take on the theme and a nice game ! Really reminded me of the puzzles in Alundra with ice pillars and those puzzles were dope.

I really like how you used the UX and GUI in the game to make fit the theme (elevator), yet still give clear instructions. Music is correct and fit, but I think the sound of the people sliding on the ice is a bit too loud and gets quite redundant after a few tries ! That would be my only complain, I think the rest of your game is quite good, plus you made some challenging puzzles so I'm happy with that :D Congratz !

Zachary's Memory by namnam 2018-08-22T17:48:10Z

Salut !

Crowded Dungeon by RandyTayler 2018-08-18T12:25:16Z

Hey ! I liked your game, I'm really happy someone made a textual game :D ! The art is very good, music fits well, and it's written pretty well. And you have a lot of humour ! I especially liked the part about orcs that "would kill to...kill..." Thanks you for this entry, glad I played this game ! Good job !!

Running Out Of Space by CaylebLucas 2018-08-15T16:47:43Z

Hey it's a good game well done ! The hold and thrust game felt really weird, but I really liked the others. It indeed lack some sound design, but well it's a bloody jam you can't do everything sometimes :P

6 K by pataya 2018-08-17T19:55:17Z

Hey ! That's a pretty good game, you really did a lot of work on the FX on a lot of aspects (graphism and sounds), the game feels polished and fun to play. This is a hell of a work for two people, good job for doing it!

Some downsides for me would be that you designed a simple take on the theme, and I think you could have made a game that was much more bigger and with more replayability (I know, it's a gamejam) than this one, by simply giving the monsters more random spawns, adding maybe some power-up or a big monster. This is a pretty good work still, so I won't be complaining too much about this.

I also feel like the rebuild tile button is a bit clunky, you never really know what is going to be rebuilt, and it can also destroys the level (or I got super unlucky, idk). Overall, I feel like you just made a tight gameplay to design a lot of FX effects around it. The game is great, but what makes it so good is the feedback we get for each action.

Un grand bravo Ă  vous deux, et continuez Ă  bosser sur ce jeu qui me semble ĂȘtre un bon prototype pour un bon bullet hell ou rougelite :) !

Mystical Intrusion by yojammerjammer 2018-08-22T15:13:00Z

This was a really lovely game ! I really felt moved by some of the themes you discussed in the game, and I feel this is a very intimate and good take on the theme !

The whole story is pretty great. I finished the game with 50 stress ! I really sympathized with all the creatures living in the house (especially fairies :D ), and the super cute design was pretty good!

Only complains would be that the sound can get a bit too much repetitive. It fits your story but gets a bit redundant after some playthrough !

Also I feel like the game took an easy turn in the narrative : being nice and comprehensive makes you win, the opposite make you lose since it raises stress level. I didn't try to make a playthrough and raise stress level, but I feel like this is the "bad ending", I'm maybe wrong so please point this me out if ever :D !

Anyway, I felt like this "easy turn" might be a cheap solution to writing, and I would have liked a bit more choices and more hesitation about creatures. Pretty sure you ran out of time but this would have been great !

This was a really lovely game, thanks you for sharing this <3 !

Housebreaker by lilkrit 2018-08-23T18:37:01Z

I like the game's concept ! I think you could easily implement new mecanics and objectives in the game :) you obviously ran ouf of time but it's a nice compo ! Well done !

Quicksand by kr4ft3r 2018-08-18T06:49:35Z

This feels a lot like playing Toribash or Qwop, and I'm so bad at both I couldn't do anything haha! It's more of a toy than of a game, but it's actually funny and addictive to see how much you can toy with this character, so I had my share of laughs with this one ! Good job :)

Keyboard warrior by ango97 2018-08-23T18:45:05Z

This is a bloody Twisted :D

I can't tell you how this game is hard to play on a azerty keyboard, the GUI just baited the shit out of me each time haha ! I like your game mecanism and it makes the game really tedious to play, that's an innovative and literal take !

I was really marveled by the art work (hand drawn is really beautiful !), and I'm really glad to see a game that uses an interface or GUI element as a kinda actual gameplay element, since it shows us the mapping + how many times before the function switches place on the keyboard !

Good job for this game :)

SuperTHICC by huskitch 2018-08-17T09:13:19Z

Fun take ! everyone already told you about controls so I wont' comment on that, I think that's pretty solid to jam this alone in a week-end. Kinda liked the fact you tried to build up a whole level with some twists and useless room, adds some realistic feel to the game. good job !

DE/VOID by randomphantom 2018-08-17T15:02:33Z

Pretty nice game. That's a good take on the theme, and I really like how you just used the concept to make a shitload of levels with new mecanics that keep on surprising us. I really liked the fact we can hear different version of the sample for the shooting sound, adds some layers to the game and doesn't make a stupid noise during the play. Very good job !

Chadwick Cave Chronicles by nerdyHerbivore 2018-08-17T18:26:43Z

Hey there ! Liked the whole vibe given by your game, and the way you did use this book/menu screen to give the player places to go. I could only play two levels, the last one was marked with a X and I couldn't interact with it. The game asked me to make repairs but I didn't know how to do it, so I don't know if this is just because the game isn't finished yet or because I just missed something !

I didn't felt like the theme was really shown in the playthrough I made. I was steering in these sort of aquatic tunnels but never felt really oppressed by space, or in need of it. I popped up good these purple plants for this good ol Chadwick. I would love to play your postjam game, for I felt that the game was pulling me in something else as I read the note telling that Chadwick needed his ship to be repaired, and it really interested me.

Apart for that, you used some basic Unity that worked very well (I recognize this particle effect :D), and I felt like the music was good, it fitted with a feeling of discovering the sea and new species. I read that you were doing a postjam version of the game, I was wondering if you could also use this opportunity to give a more detailed feedbacks about the GUI on the top left of the screen ? I understood it was linked to blasting the purple plants but I probably missed something else. Thanks you for making this game, and please let me know if I missed something or if you release a postjam version ! I played the web browser version of the game and it played very well. Good job !

Chadwick Cave Chronicles by nerdyHerbivore 2018-08-17T18:27:19Z

Also, thanks for making me learn a new word, "Unbeknownst ", which I barely use in French, so in English lemme tell ya this is out of the way :P cheers !

@the-triumvirate Hey, thanks you so much for the comment ! We wanted to work on another kind of feedback but we were running out of space (I mean time :P). So, which memory did you enjoy the most ? Cheers !!

@gilgusmaximus Hey ! Thanks for your review :) which text did you feel a little bit too loosely tied ? Do you mean they were a bit too short to be given as much interest as the other texts, or do you just feel like they were off topic ? Glad you liked the game :D

@darkguardsman well, if you feel like this isn't a game, we did our job :P thanks for your review !!

@nerdyherbivore Thanks you for your review ! Very much appreciated. Indeed, we did ran out of time; and we did implement a sort of epilogue reminding the player what each memory did to Daniel's mind. We wanted to create a archetype system that would give an overview of Daniel's life after player's choices, but well .. It's a jam ! Thanks you anyway :D

Take care of her by KiiroHanabi 2018-08-18T09:17:07Z

@phi Hey ! Thanks you for this really nice feedback. Indeed, we wanted to create 4 or 5 different epilogues according to the player's choices, but we pretty much ran out of time. Thanks you for playing our game and I'm really glad u liked it ! Which memories did you pick ? :) Cheers !

@randytayler Thanks you ! Daniel had a rough time in his life, but I'm pretty sure anyone can relate to it. Which is exactly why picking up memories for him is tough..! Thanks you for your review !

@vulture-42 Hey, thanks you for reviewing our game ! I'm glad you got hooked to the way we conceived the "lack of space" in memory :) and indeed, "Her" is really the person you want it to be.

The idea is that the players can relate to the story; That "her" becomes someone who has a meaning for them and not only for Daniel, based on their personal experience and how they can refer to this story while reading the text.

So, yes, "Her" is confusing sometimes :D glad you liked our game !!

@brallex Thanks you for this comment ! I really loved Firewatch, this game moved me and I'm glad our game reminded you of it !!

@megalink Thanks you for reviewing our game ! I'm glad you liked everything from writing to general art and atmosphere.

Yes, a narrative category would be great, I think most of the new / young designers work a lot around new ways to tell a story via games, and this category would be quite welcomed :) ! Thanks you again !

@sam-machell Hey, our game is now in HTML5, you can probably play it :D !

@furiouswitch Hey , Thanks you for checking our game ! my buddy Kiiro pretty much answered everything about writing and game designs, but since I wrote the music I wanted to know what you meant by "music stereo effects" : Did I use too many different effects on the music ? Thanks you for playing !! :D

@jern Hey Jern ! Thanks you for your feedback, we definitly have some work to do in ergonomy and also in ways to dynamize our text :) I'm glad you liked Daniel and felt guilty :P !!

That's a really Rose focus playthrough you made here :D I'm glad you liked Shooting Stars, it's one of my favorite !

Take care of her by KiiroHanabi 2018-08-20T21:03:03Z

@furiouswitch That's the first comment I got on the music, so thanks you for pointing that out ! Indeed, I used a tremolo effect on my guitar track to create this looping effect, going from right to left, to get a specific mood on the epilogue. But thanks you ! I'm currently moving from LogicPro9 To Ableton, I'll fix this right after :) Ty !!

@kr4ft3r Hey, thanks for playing our game ! Yeah we had some feedbacks about the fact the text. The text is written with an overall design behind to make the player projects himself unto the character, thus it's not really about description but more about feelings, which can be deconcerting in video games - this is usually the domain of literature. And yeah about the title, we just felt this would be a good way to surprise the player, especially since there are severals "her". Thanks for your feedback !!

@peachtreeoath Hey ! Thanks you for playing our game twice ! I'm glad you got hooked up to our game in the end, don't apologize for skipping screens haha. We thought about the whole musical and graphic aspects of the game as a way to enjoy each story in a different way than by just reading text, as they all try to encapsulate the mood of each screen. I'm so glad this worked on you !! Thanks you for playing our game :)

@ratherjolly Hey ! Thanks you for playing our game and for these compliments, they mean a lot ! Cheers :D !

@saoi-games Thanks you for playing our game on stream ! I was very pleased to hear all the logic you gave to the game while reading and trying to preserve Daniel and the joy in his life.

Also, your voice is very smooth, and I really loved how some sentences were pronounced differently given the impact it had on you. You're great reader :D thanks you very much !

@uncannyvalley Thanks you very much ! Yeah this is the same concept put differently haha ! Thanks for your kind words about the way we used narrative in the game, we really wanted to tell the player a story and to let him shape Daniel's life. What I really loved about the game is that your choices obviously mean something about you, and you can either try to do the best for Daniel, or get hooked up by the concept and relate to each memory with something that happened in your life.

Thanks you for playing our game :) !

@nihilaleph Thanks you for reviewing our game ! Chronology is indeed a bit confusing, but that was intended, to get the player's "awake" and shake up his conception of the story. Thanks for your feedback, it is taken in count for our next work ! Thanks for keeping Shooting Stars :D

@wrenpirate Aw, thanks you very much for reading our little story ! Thanks for this little translation issue, I had a hard time going from French to English so I'm pretty sure there are common errors in the whole game ! Thanks for playing it and I'm glad you liked it :D

@dleanjeans Thanks for playing our game ! We made the choice to not repeat the music because some players/readers don't really like listening to music while playing, but we would have made a feature to loop it or turn it off if we had more time.. ! Shrunkeon Dungeon by DleanJeans 2018-08-25T15:20:25Z

Hey ! it's a pretty neat idea and game, but I think you should get the screenplay a little bit bigger.

I feel like the game would be more fun and we could actually witness a bit more easily the dungeon getting smaller if the camera was a little bit more far from the character. Enemies just kinda pop on us and they wreck us very easily, which is okay because we also do damage, but that would add some depths to the game !

Also, I feel like sword'n'shield could use a function where we can raise our shield and protect ourselves from arrows. This is a bit of polish for now but I'm pretty sure this would be good !

The graphisms are good, we really feel like we're slaying monsters in a dungeon, and the sfx/overall sound design is great ! I feel like this just could use a little bit more polish and you would have a very nice game :D !

Good job on doing this !!

Space Invader - File Explorer Edition by MadreDeDios 2018-08-15T16:54:16Z

Hey there, liked the idea behind your game. Also I felt like when I was on my computer, being scared of deleting random stuff that had weird names and could cause my computer to crash :P

Exhaustlands by Sand-Gardeners 2018-08-18T12:01:27Z

This is ... very good. So far this is the best game I played this jam I think. I liked how you used a minimalist approach to the overall design of the game, while being very consistent on the signs and what they meant (how you represented coast, forest, different type of roads..!). The sound design is very good, but I just kept on playing the Raindrops song because that felt like a nostalgic Fallout.

What really hooked me up is how you designed the narrative in the game. Mecanics are simple, but launching the player in this vast open space with so little clues about where to go, and actually what to do, is a great way to design a game that proposes something quite philosophical ("learning comes with journeying" or smthing like that), and also a risky bet that asks the player to just play by himself and try to understand the game. Each character is unique and defined by few words, but enough for us to actually link him to something in our mind (the druid just grows weed, don't lie :P). Few things I could be critique about would be that your game isn't really focused on the theme (Felt like I had enough space to be lost !), and that you could probably add a sort of map by pressing a button. I know this is a risky feature, because a map could totally remove the fact that your game is about discovery and journey and not "just go there", but it can get quite frustrating or confusing to just be lost.

Thanks you for making a game that resolves around deep narrative and texts, and thanks you for this very unique game ! Cheers.

@sam-machell We all always lack time :D followed you back on Itch.io, I'll be glad to play more ;) Cheers !

Trophy Hunter by dasun 2018-08-18T11:29:21Z

Hey ! That's a nice take on the theme, and a really fun one ! You did good with graphics and sounds design, and the tone of the game is quite funny. It gets slightly redundant after some levels, difficulty curve is something but this doesn't add something really exciting to the game. I think that if you add elements that can create more depth to the game it would be good !

Beside, you are trading trophy for "math values" on your weapon, for instance ammo accuracy and such. I'm pretty sure that if you can develop more skills for your character (dash, super shot, stuff like this), and offer the player to trade skills or stats against trophy, this would be very good ! This game has a lot of potential and I'd be glad if you kept working on it. Good job :)

Hey, that's a pretty fun idea you got there. I especially like how you used the idea of having to type a sentence to actually repel someone, while some had to be fought with basic interactions. It's a cool game, great job !

No Vacancy by UnBonJusDeFruits 2018-08-16T22:15:28Z

Pretty nice game considering you made everything alone ! The game design is quite simple, but I really wanted to focus on the fact that you made SFX for humans flying to heaven that were in tune with the music. This idea is really great and that's not something you often see during gamejams. Wanted to give you some credits for that cause it's really cool :D overall the game feels nice and smooth. Good job !

The Flopp by Sanguis 2018-08-16T13:39:58Z

Hi ! Your game was pretty cool, I was a bit surprised by the way you scripted the jump (really big gravity :D !), but I got used to it very quickly. The game feels quite smooth because you made a lot of different checkpoints, which is cool cause you always die like crap. My only concern would be about the "attack" option, I didn't feel like it was really useful, hitting crates wasn't really a big deal since I could jump around them. I think you could have either removed this option and get a more slower level design (where we would not get the double jump so quick, for instance), or either build up a LOT OF CRATES. But this is probably cause you ran out of time ;). One last thing, really liked how you designed the fact that when we miss space, graphisms quality gets lowered; but it led me to some bugs on the section with the flying platform : if you stand on one of them and are in "cube mode", you can go get stuck in the platform and get through it ! Idk if someone else noticed it. Well, that was a pretty cool game, thanks for making it ;)

Cryptovirus by Corqi 2018-08-17T15:26:31Z

A classic revisited ! Game is good and the theme fits perfectly for it. I think it would have been better if you had added a soundtrack to the game; I ended up restarting some levels a lot of time and it would have suited the thing very well. I think the problem isn't about difficulty spike but more about the fact that your game is very punishing. You can collect 5 coins and unlock 5 doors, but if you fail to do the last one, you have to do it all over again, which makes the game quite tedious. Levels are quickly getting supra big and one failure means 1 minute of just pushing keyboard arrows. Apart from that, you made a nice work, good job !

Cryptovirus by Corqi 2018-08-17T15:56:43Z

@corqi I think this will make your game a lot more exciting ! Good luck :)

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-17T15:39:05Z

Hey ! I really liked your game. At first I was a bit confused with the inventory system, but I finally understood how to work around with it, and I really liked the dragon fight, it's really good. This boss was real hard ! But the fact you coded its finite state machine in so less time is really impressive, good job for that !

Nah just kidding, this game is very unique and you did great ;) literal take on theme, good sound and art in general. Felt like you ran out of time, but you perfectly knew it, so you designed a game around it :p nice open space game, probably next GOTY, Thanks you for making this unique piece :D !! Good job !

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-17T15:47:35Z

@gaming-night Merci !! Oui mais que si c'est un battle royale :D

Shrinking Bubbles by StJester 2018-08-14T17:08:43Z

Hey ! Liked the fact that the character followed precisely what we drew with the the mouse. Really felt punishing on some parts. Overall, the game is pretty neat and quite smooth. Good job !

HevnsdĂžr by hatchet 2018-08-18T14:32:09Z

I think your game is really great ! A good take on PapersPlease kind of game, except your one opted for a more divine and philosophical mood. Audio suits well, art is really good (I really like the character, really cute design :D!), and game is easily understandable. I think you could lower a bit the sound of the door, it's really high ! Also I found it a bit tedious to always have God commenting my actions, kinda slow down the process and gets redundant. This is a really smooth and good take on the theme, I like the mood you wanted on this game. It is really peaceful, yet the music reminds us that this peace comes with a prize and a choice. Thanks for this experience, and indeed, game aren't always supposed to be fun - They also need to question our motivates. Cheers and good job !

Shrinker by interpol 2018-08-16T13:49:17Z

Hey ! got through three plays of your game, I liked the idea ! What I really liked overall is how you used the minimalist graphism to give a feedback about health points : triangle have one, squares have two, etc. I believe this was a very cheap yet smart way to give an instant feedback to player. The idea of using ammo as a way to reduce the arena' size is good, but I think you could have made more interactions with it (I know, it's LudumDare, you probably didn't have time). I believe that if some enemies could have been able to push you instead of damaging you, making the use of your ammo even more interesting in some case ! The game plays good, the sound is quite tight and music makes the feet dance around. Good job !

Concentrate by niterich 2018-08-20T16:51:27Z

Hey ! I liked the concept of the game and I feel like this is a pretty fun take on rythm game ! I had trouble getting what the game wanted for the beats, I feel like we could use some more visibility on this. I don't really understand about the difference of the colours, I thought it was connected to whether or not we were holding the note... Audio is great, and graphisms are pretty good also ! I love how you smoothed the menu and the end of a game in the whole game, this is quite good ! Good job :)

Pre Alpha Build by PlusMinus 2018-08-17T09:35:53Z

Hey there ! Your game has definitly a lot of potential, I hope you're gonna keep working on it 'cause I'm pretty sure it can be a very solid game. Arts and SFX/music are great, what I really liked is how you designed the interface in a clever way to make you work less (with the minerals and energy ressources directly linked to the amount needed to build up something for instance). I didn't especially feel like I was running out of space during my two playthrough, but seeing other players' screenshots, I feel like I must have been doing something wrong :P Also, the shapes are incredibly boring, thus making the game quite fun ! Good job !!

Consensual Love in a Dungeon (NSFW) by darefus 2018-08-21T17:00:26Z

This is a fucking fun game you have right here. I made multiple playthroughs to read everything and I really laughed hard haha. Drawings are good, I especially liked the sound design and the overall fun tone you made

Not gonna comment "interesting idea" or stuff like that, just felt like a good ol visual novel with sexy monsters and crap. This isn't really a take on the theme (even if you're "trying hard to put it in"), but that's still a fun one.

The writing was also pretty good and really did set up the tone on the whole game. Good job !!

VoxelHell by GilgusMaximus 2018-08-16T14:37:08Z

Hi ! I think you already got notified about the rotation offset :P so I won't talk about this ! What I really liked is that the meteor crashing down on the level are building it, plus they are coming FROM THE TOP, which is great ! I think you should have worked on sound effects instead of music. It took some time for me to understand that my default weapon couldn't handle shield and that I had to switch on the rockets. Maybe some graphics or sounds effects would have been great here to give some feedback. I really liked your "Hunt the Highscore" stuff, pretty neat during a game jam ;) Rose and Eva both played but they didn't make any good scores ehe Anyway, good game and cya around :)

Runing Out Of space - cakes by Nalah 2018-08-20T16:09:03Z

Hey ! Nice game you got there, really MeatBoy-ish. I feel like this kind of sloppish effect on the character makes the game particulary tedious and punitive ! Sometimes cupcake guy will just slide out of the platform :D !

The game obviously lacks some cute music and sound designs, but I liked your inventivity and creativity with the level designs ! Good job :)

Junk Dealerz by Lodugh 2018-08-18T00:03:54Z

Hey ! Took me some time but I finally defeated your game ! I really dug it ! It's not really an incredible take on the theme, as we're indeed running quickly out of space but we can easily manoeuver around it (you just need to eat and heal after all :D), but the overall game is incredible ! Art is marvelous, sound and music fit perfectly well, and the you did a very good effort to create an atmosphere that was very unique. The intro scene is also a very good touch that adds originality and personality to your effort. I felt like playing a mix'up between Nuclear Throne and LiSa. If you don't know both of these games, check them out, you might like them ! Looking forward to the further developement of this game ! Good job !!

Unfamiliar by Kovakomes 2018-08-19T12:56:20Z

Hey Really beautiful game here, I'm glad I played it. It's a very good story and the whole mood is incredibly well done ! I'm really curious about your idea behind the design of giving a choice of answer to the player.

I felt like this created another layer between the game, the character that we are playing, and the player, that forced us to think about how we are supposed to get under the skin of our character and how we can either help her or crush her life because of the choices we make. We obviously know something is wrong, but we can pretend everything is fine or just make the character "lose her mind".

I'll be glad to hear from you about the design idea around the game and choices ! Also, I'm very happy to see a team that worked on a textual/visual game. I'm not really into advertising and crap, but we worked on the same approach to the theme with my friend on our game, and I'd be glad to know what you think of it :)

This is a marvelous work on a very specific subject. I'm glad gamers and designers work on crucial problems like this. Please keep making games. Cheers !!

You May Live (YML) by SachaY 2018-08-28T07:31:49Z

Hey ! Liked your game, it reminded me a lot of another game that has been made during this jam (Tirage, if you ever have the chance to play it), that basically took the same idea around curing people and managing beds.

Your game is pretty good, I liked the music and the playscreen with papers switching is very nice. graphics are good the music fits in pretty well.

I think there are some issues that you could work around :

- you made a very realistic interface, I mean the more realistic you could get, and it fits very well into the game, but we still lack some indications. I don't know if the money on the top left is what I'm going to gain from curing a patient, or what I'm going to lose ; is it what the patient is bringing ? I'm still a bit unclear about it so I just played the game and focused on the story and overall mood. A tutorial would probably help for this, told by the character so that it fits right into your idea of a realistic interface-game.

- I feel like you could have elaborated a little more on the backstory of the game during war : giving fake names for country or conflits, fake name for troops or stuff like that. It would help the player to make choices and to think about the consequences of their actions !

That's all feedbacks I can think about. Thanks you for making this game, pretty good job on the mood you created with it !! Bravo :)

Demonic Digestion by DodoIta 2018-08-16T10:28:22Z

Hey ! I really liked your interpretation of this goold ol Asteroids game :p whole art and design is really good and gives us a really good sense of what each item does (sword / umbrella / riceball I don't know the real name :D), and this BIG ASS skeleton is amazing ! Good job for making it, and I really felt like I was fighting with some huge skeleton like in Dark Souls ! Good job guys :)

SpaceLab 42 by Wassim 2018-08-18T11:02:50Z

That's uh ... weird game ! I feel like you spent a lot of time on menu and end credits instead of just focusing on the game. Felt more like a trailer for a prototype than an actual game. But the thing is, I don't get what the overall design is ! We're not running out of space, there's just an oxygen'clock ticking on the screen ! On the other hand, graphisms are good, music is really great, but I feel like you should have spent more time on designing a good gameplay around the theme. I know it's just a jam and you had 72 hours to do this, but you bothered making a very good menu, an end game scene, credits; I feel like you should have just focused on designs instead of animations and arts. Still, your game looks very promising, and I'm pretty sure you could make something out of it postjam ! Good job!

32D by Préda 2018-08-17T20:22:40Z

Hey ! I played your game a few times, I think you didn't implement the claw game yet, but that's okay :) I will review from what I played : I feel like the whole idea of the game is rather fun, our character being this bored computer repair man, and having to fix computer by just playing them. I liked how you put some fun in the shop, that's a rather basic but still solid idea to get the player in the mood :D !

Yet, I really didn't feel like I was "running out of space" most of the game. I felt this during the mini game where you have to guide this mouse cursor in a dark maze, because there isn't enough space to turn back, but the other parts of the game didn't really got me. I think your game would be really good if you added something else than just "waiting for the customer to come". Maybe they could wait in line, and this would urge us to finish mini games faster to get more cash for instance ! I played 4 mini games in a row, and just when a customer leaves, another one enters; which is great because otherwise we wouldn't have to do anything, but this doesn't feel like I have to quickly repair their computer ! So that's my take on your whole game design, I think you can implement more ideas and make this game a really funny one, with a lot of cool minigames in it !

Also, props for creating many soundtracks for your game, this is good and it shows you actually cared to make us feel like we were doing something else each time.

Anyway, thanks you for this game, and I'd be glad to play a postjam version, as your game sounds promising :) ! Good job !!

A simple life by Amour Du Pain 2018-08-17T15:07:32Z

Hi ! This a very special game, I liked what you did there. I think this is a nice prototype and a good idea of game design, you obviously didn't get more time to do more but the concept is pretty good. It's a pretty nice way to create a narrative in a game, and props for that !!

At the lab by UselessDinosaur 2018-08-15T16:25:48Z

Hi there ! Played your game in the windows version in download format. The game is really hard to play haha, I don't know if pressing the button in the initial area is supposed to give me something, but I saw some error messages on another windows that had opened during my playthrough. Overall, the game feels a bit clunky, but I liked the idea behind the Godot box (haha) and the other box that can help you achieve movement without the jump. Graphisms and sounds were okay, it felt like they gave enough feedback on the game.

Running out of Space by ZozeR 2018-08-22T19:43:35Z

Hey ! first of all I'm quite sorry, I'm getting really bad at these sort of games so I couldn't finish it :(

I first tried your jam version, then tried the V2 to actually see what you added in game !

First of all, the game's mecanic about running out of space is nice ! Concept is easily understandable and the game responds quite correctly to it. I liked the graphic chart you used (quite Chtuluish, as someone said in the comments section, I feel like this is indeed the main inspiration), and eventhough you didn't make the music, it suits well the game.

I feel like the game is really hard, but in a cheap way and not in challenging way, I'll explain myself on this :

- The idea of random planets popping when you shoot is quite weird. Sometimes it just pops somewhere and .. voilĂ  ! But sometimes it just blocks my path. I read your description and I know this is actually intended, but that's really cheap ! It blocks the player's path and just act as a punishing random feature. I'm pretty sure you can turn this idea into something more interesting and good for the player to play !

- Some monsters, especially at level 2, are really tedious to play against. I'm talking about these laser guys who snipe you from the other side of the screen. To avoid them, I must keep moving, which is okay since it's a shooter, but then a random planet blocks my way and I'm screwed ! Thus dying like shit :D I don't know if other players experienced this, but it felt really random and ungrateful no matter how many times I tried.

These are my main two complaints. You made a good job creating this game in 3 days, I also love how the game "flows", which is why this idea of planets popping up really bores me. The game is quick, tense, and I really like the way you designed the pace. Good job !!!

Where is my place ? by diwo 2018-08-22T20:10:41Z

Groundfall by Arcus 2018-08-17T09:19:52Z

Played your .exe version of the game, runs pretty well ! That's a good take on the theme, and I'm pretty sure you did lack time to actually use this game mecanism to create level with it. I appreciate the fact that you probably made the art by yourself, eventhough it's not the best ofc but at least you did put some effort in doing it and that's very cool from a solo jammer. Game is a bit buggy but hey it's running, I had similar issues with GM2 while trying to code platform game myself so I can relate haha. One last thing on this prototype : I think you could slightly lower the sound, it's a bit too loud. Good job !

Clot! by Ghoster 2018-08-22T21:07:47Z

This game is really good ! I really hope you're going to push forward this concept because this could be a very good game to develop ! I'll follow you to keep updated about it :D

Art is great, sound design and visual effects are pretty good (I especially like this glue like stuff around the blocks). The whole idea of the gameplay is pretty consistent and would be very great if you'd elaborate more in a postjam version. I'm glad you guys made this game, I'd love to play this against someone in a sort of Robotnik Mean Bean Machine inspired gameplay !

My sole complain would be about the "one hit kill", that's really harsh while all we want is just build stuff mostly :D but that's a good idea of mix up between puzzle and action, the player is always active ! Amazing work !!

Project Breathe by Hoffschir 2018-08-16T10:47:59Z

Hey ! While I also struggled with K+M, the gameplay with the Gamepad felt good. The game design is quite simple, but I felt like the game was really chill. The audio + the whole space idea with some oxygen checkpoints make the game really smooth to me, and this is what felt really good about it. I think you could probably lower a bit the volume when the dragon enters a breathing zone (let's call it like that), the sound is quite loud. But this maybe me wanting the game to feel much more chill, while flying this fucking dragon to earth :D Good job !

Project Breathe by Hoffschir 2018-08-16T10:48:56Z

Also, wow 800Mo of game seriously haha, this is the biggest game I ever downloaded during a jam, this really felt like I was going to move this huge beast, liked it :D

OFF ICE by BMOPAPA 2018-08-16T14:48:35Z

Hey ! Really liked the vibes from your game. Gameplay is simple and there are probably some issues (sometimes the ice platform broke before I got on, and one time I respawned in the water..?), but the animation and arts are really good, the sound (eventhough you didn't produce it) feels great and gives feedback. It's a really nice game, and it tells a basic yet beautiful story. Good job ! :)

OPEN-ME.ZIP by Adam Harms 2018-08-22T17:35:30Z

I really loved the mood you create on your game. Whole esthetic including music and font is really nice, also the way the narrative is created is really great :D

Good job !!

Squeezed Out by danielblanco3d 2018-08-28T08:05:24Z

Nice take on the theme !

This is a really twisted game, I kinda like games like this that just revolve around you vs your reflexes, it takes us on a whole more primordial gameplay. I like how you used the theme as a way to converge gameplay into the game (it's just a reflex game because we're running out of space).

Seems like the game is kinda random, but that's totally the point :P so I won't mind ! Pretty sure that if you had time you would have implemented new features into it, but it's totally playable right now and the essence of the game is quite clear ! Props to graphics and music, that's a really psychedelic experience ! Good job :)

Poisoned Palace by jordantanner 2018-08-31T11:30:18Z

Hey ! Really nice game you did there, I liked the whole vibe to it, think I ended the game in about 5 minutes or something. The art is really cool, but I don't feel like the music really fits : I mean it's really good but I expected something a little bit more heavy or Symphony of the Night-esque :D !

Whole gameplay is pretty tight and you have a nice basis to just develop further the game ! I feel like you could improve on some points and I hope I have played enough metroidvania/platform jumper to give you a good feedback on your excellent work !

- I feel like the Soul Blast is really overpowered ! Plus it charges really super fast. I'm sure the game would be more challenging with a tweak on it. - I didn't really feel like I needed to be careful about my health, it's just like I was constantly recovering it while killing monsters ! Maybe you could tune that down a bit to make the game more challenging and fun to play - Monsters aren't really problematic in my opinion. Maybe add some of them that could shoot stuff ? Or move with a boring patterns (like medusa's head in Castlevania, I'm pretty sure you raged as much as I against these enemies :D) - The game lacks "visibility", I'm not a graphist but I feel like you mainly created around the same colour palettes (purple/green/gray/deep blue) most of the elements in the game, UI included, and this creates some situation where the game is hard to read, and also a bit too much. Maybe you could add more elements that can be in another colour ? This would add some visibility to the game / UI ! - You could indeed add something to help about the jumps, like some framerates where the game still consider us on the platform eventhough we aren't, just to help the player make these jumps. But it's up to you for this one, I like hardcore platforming haha.

That's pretty much all I can think about ; I'm very glad I played your game, it has a good ol metroid / castlevania / axiom verge vibe that I really love and I hope you'll keep on pushing this game or another project a similar setting/universe. Good job !!

Electric Sleep by uncannyvalley 2018-08-23T16:03:54Z

Hey ! I'm having a hard time to progress in the game, am I supposed to (SPOILER) erase the memories I feel like they are infected and accept the "good ones", or is there something else to do ? Because the "erase" or "delete" aren't working, maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I like the tone of the game and well... funny to see someone working on exactly the same theme concept that we did on our game !! I can't say your take on the theme is bad, it is obviously very good :P

I really liked the overall mood of the game, the vitruvian cyberpunk man sets the tone easily. Felt a lot like Blade Runner (probably why you called it Electric Sleep I guess ;)), especially about the memories of man speaking to an android, like Deckard and Rachel.

What I would have loved to see in your game would have been music to fit the theme, but the writing is good ! I'm not especially talking about the memories - that would have been better if they were bigger in my opinion (but heck this is a jam game) - but more about the way we proceed in the computer. This is a solid work and an interesting way to create narration, I'm really liking it.

You made a great job, thank you for making this game !

Electric Sleep by uncannyvalley 2018-08-23T19:41:45Z

Well, for a first game, this is very promising, I'll follow your work and hope to see exciting new stuff :D ! Actually, having to go to another screen to delete the memory might be totally unintuitive, but this is an interesting narrative device ! See you :)

Running out of Space: The story of one man by Brain Warm-up 2018-08-18T11:18:53Z

This looks like a math type decipher code that I won't be able to unlock due to my shitty math skills :D I liked the fact you decided to go for a point'n'click game, they are great games ! I just don't feel like I'm running out of space, more like running out of time ! You put an effort in creating interfaces and texts that fit your game pretty good, props for that ! Good job :)

Mindlapse by Vulture_42 2018-08-16T22:07:09Z

Hey ! Great work there. I have to especially give credits to the fact that the character is speaking and saying stuff during the game. It realls feels like we should care about it, since it is afraid and tries to repel the monster as much as we do. Graphics are good and you quickly understand what you're supposed to do (especially with the rebuild interaction, so congrats for that), SFX are great but a bit too loud. The music suits well the game.

I think you should have worked on adding something more to the game. The character is already trapped and running out of space. Maybe a timer or a way to escape the area would have been great, it would have been able to suit well the theme while giving the player an opportunity to "win the game". I'm pretty sure you worked on something like this but, well, ran out of "time" to implement it. Overall, it's a pretty solid game, and you made it in no time. Good job !!!

Summer's Lease by WrenPirate 2018-08-25T08:57:09Z

Loved your little story ;) also I think you missed a line where "she" is "they" (or maybe the narrator just got bored of correcting gender each time :D).

I really loved the mood and humor you used throughout the whole interactive text, as well as the use of the theme as a way to personalise the player's adventure. The game could just use a little music effect, like winds brushing or stuff like that, just to create an ambiant around the game. This is all I can think about, I really liked your story !

My story ended with me going home on a car and not going in space :D

The Gentle Giant by Red Pill 2018-08-17T09:25:16Z

Cute idea and take on the theme. Animation and art are on point, and I think this is a pretty funny take on "running out of space", as much as a good take on EndlessRunner type of games. I would have liked some sound effects but I'm pretty sure you ran out of time to make them, so that's okay. Overall you did a pretty good job, well done !

The Gentle Giant by Red Pill 2018-08-17T09:36:44Z

@red-pill Like most of us :P still solid, keep smashing people!

Space Trap by KeyurRana 2018-08-25T08:34:53Z

Hey ! Your game is a quite simple take on the theme, really liked to play it. I tried both jam and post jam version, because the controls in the jam version were really hard for me to work with, thus I digged more your postjam version !

Made two playthroughs and survived for something along 1:30 each time ! The game feels good but I think some things were missing, maybe I didn't have luck or didn't play long enough :

- I feel like you should be able to also get power-up / damages up as a random drop from enemies. Maybe you get them later, but I didn't get one on my two playthroughs - sound effects are a bit too loud, it just covers up the whole game - At some point, the enemies mostly spawn on the right of the screen, so it gets a bit redundant ; maybe you could add some other spawnpoints in the game to make the player feels a little bit more unsafe and add a layer of gameplay other than shooting and dodging (and since we have a dash, let's use it come on). - Maybe it gets a little more harder once you survived a certain amount of time, but I didn't feel like I lacked space; I just really get shot in the face cause I couldn't dodge the lasers :D I liked your idea of using the theme but I don't feel the lack of space as a real threat here; I'm really more scared about the spaceships ! - If you can create one of two more enemies with different move patterns, this would be perfect :)

I think that's all feedback I can think about your game; the gameplay is tight and the graphics are nice. You made a pretty good job doing this game !!

Blob Attack by AdiH 2018-08-15T16:42:51Z

Game is indeed a bit confusing, but I felt like the game mecanic was quite fun ! It felt a lot like playing a minimalist GO game during enemy fights. Graphics and music were okay, they gave enough feedback for the player to understand what he should and should not be doing (water is death in jumping game, boss' music felt indeed like a rush). I feel like more feedback on the game would be a good thing if you keep working on it. Good job !

Space Invasion by Nam Nguyen 2018-08-18T12:16:24Z

That's a pretty nice game, congratulations ! The concept is very simple, yet it offers a lot of depht to the way player can manipulate the environment. Kinda reminds me of games with complimentary mecanics, like Portal for instance, where mecanics are linked to the environment and between them. This is pretty good take, the very minimalist graphisms are good enough for us, and you have a lot of humour that cheers us up during the whole game ! Good job :) !

Changing spaces by Shakedimus 2018-08-18T11:09:41Z

Hey ! this is a good idea for a twin stick game, the player creates the lack of space by actually fighting the enemy. That's an interesting take on the theme, as the player becomes the one creating its own "condition". I think your game could be greatly enhanced, but you definitly ran out of time. Good job anyway for creating this :) !

Clever use of the theme right here, I liked your game's concept, and congratulations for your first entry !

Graphics are quite good, the music fits well also ! I think you already have enough feedback about what's a bit wrong about the game in terms of bugs or feedbacks from the game ; I believe the real problem is that enemies aren't really a threat themselves, you just shoot them before they rush you, and eventhough they do, you get no damages. They spawn at the same frequency, on the spawnpoint each time. If you can fix that, I think the game would be quite cool, this is a nice take on the theme and you can really elaborate with this ! Good job :)

Oh, sh*t! — Ludum Dare #42 — Running out of space by xPheRe 2018-08-16T14:02:43Z

Hey ! I think you have a great idea but obviously you didn't get enough time to develop it. I felt a bit confused because the upper left corner and the bottom right corner are connected to slightly blue wires, so I thought like I had to connect them with the blue tetris-shapes, but nah :P (or maybe I'm too bad to make it!). The SFX are REALLY too loud. It sounds a lot like my NES, which is okay, but I definitly think you should lower the volume a little. I think you can take your game and develop it into something much more good now that it's over. We need goals, instructions, and I'm pretty sure more catchphrases coming from our character would be great. The "Oh Shit" just feels so good, put some more sentences like that :D Good job anyway !

Roomy's Party by Lexyvil 2018-08-22T19:59:26Z

Hey ! That's a pretty good party simulator, I mean for me. What's really nice is that some elements may feel "off" but they work perfectly well in your game : - When there are enough people on the screen, you can just stop using movements and get trashed around, just like in a real party - When people bump you, you really can't here the music anymore cause the SFX are pretty loud, and you're focused on moving the shit out of them, like in a real party !

I think the only thing I'd love to see would be a function to actually punch people and throw them away, this would be incredibly satisfying. Anyway, this is a cheap idea but it worked really well. I really felt like I, myself, was throwing a party. Have you been spying on me ??!

Space Farts by iBalls 2018-08-16T10:39:42Z

Hey, felt like the game was a bit too punitive on some parts : for the first box puzzle for instance, I was about to get the brocoli but the game told me that I ran out of farts eventhough I was going to get the brocoli while pushing the box :D ! I feel like this is a bit "cheap way" of losing the game, but on the otherside I had to think twice about my farts for my next play... Apart from that, the audio is nice, graphics are good. I think you made a pretty tight game given the time you were given, and except from this punishing game design I quoted, your game plays really good ! Good job :)
