A good game idea, the music should be improved. The graphics are good. Try our game too, maybe you'll like it)

Thanks for checking out the game @awix. Not sure how far you got with the game (as the version was super bugged - so maybe just trolling with your very suspiciously generic comment haha;) ), and would appreciate not spamming us to check out your game. As for the Music, it was designed perfectly to fit the Art, Style, Story and the desire of the over all group (though sadly not all the Music & SFX were able to make it in to the first draft (nor all properly mixed in game - but hopefully final draft will contain those). But thanks for playing/checking it out anyhow.
One tip - set your particles to world space, it would be a huuuge improvement :) The game never allowed me to third level, don't know why :( Also part of the book is offscreen which makes it a bit difficult to read. I liked the visuals and also movement felt pretty good, and very underwater! Keep it up, and thanks for the experience!
Hey there ! Liked the whole vibe given by your game, and the way you did use this book/menu screen to give the player places to go. I could only play two levels, the last one was marked with a X and I couldn't interact with it. The game asked me to make repairs but I didn't know how to do it, so I don't know if this is just because the game isn't finished yet or because I just missed something !
I didn't felt like the theme was really shown in the playthrough I made. I was steering in these sort of aquatic tunnels but never felt really oppressed by space, or in need of it. I popped up good these purple plants for this good ol Chadwick. I would love to play your postjam game, for I felt that the game was pulling me in something else as I read the note telling that Chadwick needed his ship to be repaired, and it really interested me.
Apart for that, you used some basic Unity that worked very well (I recognize this particle effect :D), and I felt like the music was good, it fitted with a feeling of discovering the sea and new species. I read that you were doing a postjam version of the game, I was wondering if you could also use this opportunity to give a more detailed feedbacks about the GUI on the top left of the screen ? I understood it was linked to blasting the purple plants but I probably missed something else. Thanks you for making this game, and please let me know if I missed something or if you release a postjam version ! I played the web browser version of the game and it played very well. Good job !
Also, thanks for making me learn a new word, "Unbeknownst ", which I barely use in French, so in English lemme tell ya this is out of the way :P cheers !
Haha. Thank you so much for playing our game @demn, there were certainly a lot of issues we ran into when finally building everything into the engine and exporting, especially in the HTML version, which we are still making bug fixes for to try and hopefully give our original intention of the game. And thank you for your kind words about the Music (many SFX are missing but hopefully they will be in the Bug Fix/updated edition soon and mixed better in game engine) that means a lot to me and is what I strive for in all the games (and other projects) I work on. Thank you again for playing and your on point insights!!
Thanks @honey for playing. Ya certain issues arose and we are currently trying to fix all the bugs and make a proper working/functioning game the way it was intended since the beginning (without the bugs haha). Thank you for your tip, and glad you experienced the underwater feeling, we made sure to really make it feel, look and sound like you were there. Thanks again for playing.
I can't get past this screen. I've tried to press everything but nothing does anything. Tried the web version on Mac Chrome/Firefox. chadwickcavechronicles.png
Never mind, went full screen and the X become actually noticeable and was clickable. Quite a lot of the text on the book at map page was still missing though, I guess you only designed it on 16:9. Unity editor has that dropdown on the game window for changing aspect ratio on the fly for easy testing. I think at least 16:10 is quite a common one at least (and it was also your web version windowed aspect ratio).
The actual gameplay was maybe taking rail shooters a bit too far. There was pretty much nothing to do and almost impossible to fail. Took me quite a while to actually notice that the rocks even did damage on contact. And that if I'm correct at guessing that the first bar in the hud was health. Still have no idea what all the other bars were and and why I was even shooting at those purple plants/crystals. Dunno what was up with that spinny thing on the cave corners, it felt a bit silly and unnecessary.
I think you should show dimmer versions or just the outlines of stars here to better indicate what that one box is at all. It also seems to completely forget the previous level scores when you beat a new one. That or I just failed to get any stars on the first two while completely dominating the final one (even though I was messing around trying to hit rocks etc on it). searchcontinues.png
The music was nice but a bit too upbeat for the completely chill and non threatening gameplay. Maybe something slower and more atmospheric would have fit it better.
Thanks @antti-haavikko for your in depth analysis. There are still quiet a few bugs they are working out (last I heard). I can't speak for much else besides music. My original idea and intention of the game was to be more difficult with more obstacles that hurt the player more fitting to the theme of running out of space, like: falling rocks, electric Eels, and possibly more vicious deep sea creatures. By progressing from a more upbeat journey into a lament and then a hectic battle scenario, which is why the Music does just that. Sadly, that was not implemented into the game, perhaps that will be more developed into a post jam. But sadly with many games there are a whole lot of bugs that happen when the final builds are being created, especially when there are several coders on the project, as well as Audio being incorporated a bit later/lastly in the process. But thank you for your honest breakdown and taking the time to play and write this.
I tried so hard to turn in the corners haha ! The game was fluid and I didn't encounter any bugs during the levels. So satisfying to clear the evil plants. I just had the problem where the game didn't seem to react when I clicked on the "X" of the menu. Also the texts are a bit too long I think. This is promising if you decide to refine the game !
The atmosphere of exploration is quite well done, but it did clip me through walls and HUD got in the way a little. Still, really nice game!
I had a bit of trouble hitting some of the plants, it didn't let me position the ship correctly. The game also could've used a bit more juice (effects when destroying plants, some kind of animation while moving). I'm also not quite sure how the theme comes into play, although that's not a requirement. Nevertheless, nice entry overall! I especially enjoyed the music and lore. Definitely think about doing a post-jam, it could become something interesting.
