Amazing! I'm a sucker for this kind of games and I loved playing this one so much. 5/8 at first try, 7/8 at the second (still misplaced that thing about the supermarket...) and I'm pretty sure I will come back one more time later to find out what I missed. The story is immersive, the background music is fitting.

I'm afraid it's a bit too long for a jam game, people rate quickly. And they miss out on this one. The ending is beautiful. You're a good story teller!

ever 2018-08-14 15:23

What a gem! The writing is flawless, changing in style with the age of the MC, and the feels are presents. The few graphics are really clean, and the music is in harmony with the mood. I hope as many people as possible will find your entry because this is really good!

lavinski 2018-08-15 09:47

So i tried it and i really liked the music/graphic combo. Overall a cozy game. While i can say this type of game is not something i play every day i still liked the short experience this game provides.

crafty-mine 2018-08-15 09:47

Really cool game,i love your graphic style!keep it up Good Luck🍀

weiiswurst 2018-08-15 09:53

I like the graphics so much. And of course, this game is absolutely unique

iwoplaza 2018-08-15 10:29

Oh man, I love the idea! It's a great way to tell a story, and to really make the player pay attention to it . The graphics and music are also amazing, really immersed me into the game. I would love to help with the English translation of the game for the full release, since some phrases I felt were a out of place, or they were grammatically incorrect, but that's easily fixable :ok_hand:.

Overall, really enjoyed the experience, and I hope more people get to enjoy it as well!

bytinggames 2018-08-15 10:30

Really atmospheric game, definitely hits the bittersweet mood, with the sad music and the beautiful graphics. I found it quite interesting, to discover this persons live. I think I got half of the memories (I didn't find it that easy to match the right memories^^). There are a few spelling mistakes, but that doesn't harm the story. This stands out among the other ludum dare games.

kimonoh 2018-08-15 12:25

This game was beautiful, and I liked the different sorting method of writing it down yourself. The matching process was a mix between hard and really easy, but I guess that's a matter of labeling it right from the beginning. All in all, a really good game!

afendar 2018-08-15 14:30

I really liked the game. The atmosphere is calm and calm, and writing a story and classifying certain memories is really well thought out. Very nice work throughout the whole world, graphics, audio and script.

mustiman 2018-08-15 14:45

Atmosphere and writings are amazing. Sound and graphics are really beautiful. The only problem for me is understanding different memories at the start is very hard and it is too easy to make a mistake at first step so you find yourself matching 2-3 memory lines. Overall that was a great experience!

gord10ahmet 2018-08-15 14:46

I loved it. A question, do the memories change (like we don't see some) according to if we made mistakes? Or do we see all the memories at the first play?

namnam 2018-08-15 14:53

@gord10ahmet no, actually when you made a mistake all the memories to come that are linked to the lost memory are lost too and you won't see them.

hanin 2018-08-15 14:57

WooWWWW!!

I really loved this game! I don't usually play these games but this is definitely something amazing! It had a bittersweet atmosphere, it was easy to play, and the writing of the stories was absolutely superb. The art is quite amazing as well, the amount of detail is astonishing. A few spelling errors here and there in the text but definitely something you can fix quite easily.

Just a solid package, well done! You should be proud!! :sob:

paulo-augusto 2018-08-15 18:49

genius, i like it .... perfect game

timbelion 2018-08-15 18:53

Good game... Nice graphics

wowa 2018-08-15 18:53

Interesting and nice concept, i like it :)

alex-kurasov 2018-08-15 19:05

Nice story, but writing the same is boring

jerripo 2018-08-15 19:15

I really like the concept and I played through twice. I didn't figure out how sorting worked until the end of my first play through, so I think a tutorial (even just in the description here) would be good. And maybe even some hints about what the categories should be.

The art and music compliment each other perfectly and really sets an ambient mood. This is one of the most beautiful interpretations of the theme I've seen so far.

thijs-tak 2018-08-16 10:45

Very good game and very nice take on the theme. I didn't figure out what I needed to do until well in my first playthrough. Still hard but very fun.

deformhead 2018-08-16 17:58

This is really good ! Lot of emotions, especially with your music in the background !

Love it !

cercle 2018-08-16 18:20

absolument fantastique!

beebo-studios 2018-08-16 18:23

This is quite amazing and totally unexpected. Great writing and mood!

I have a feeling it might be a bit long for most players because you certainly don't expect that much story for a Ludum Dare entry. I got hooked, though.

kokonaught 2018-08-16 18:33

I didn't expect it. I really didn't expect to cry playing a Ludum Dare game. But I cried a fucking lot, this is the most powerful game I played this jam, and this might be one of the most powerful game I played period. I guess I'm biased since a lot (like, way too much) of the stuff the game talks about is so close to my own experience, but the mechanic, the writing, the delivery, everything hit home with this game.

Congrats, you get every single star I can give you (I didn't review "Fun" though, since it doesn't apply I guess).

And last but not least, excellent job making an english AND a french version in a few days, c'est du super boulot.

amkingtrp 2018-08-16 18:47

Excellent writing, a really compelling story. The length of it did put me off a bit, but I persevered; unfortunately I only got 2 out of 8. :(

aayush 2018-08-16 19:09

Very well done! I would have never expected this much depth from a game jam title. A unique spin to the theme, with an awesome score in the background. 10/10

corbak 2018-08-16 19:09

This is a beautiful game and a beautiful idea. Needs a lot of grey matter :p well done ! There is a little bug when you continuously write on the keyboard, it makes the story-telling disappear and there is no way to get it back.

khofez 2018-08-16 19:15

Oh man, great game, for real

ente 2018-08-16 19:16

This game is really beautiful! It is an amazing atmosphere with the music and the story. The graphics, though rather few, are very beautiful as well. Well done.

namnam 2018-08-16 19:40

@kokonaught Waow thanks ! I'm so touched ! I'm very glad you like it so much.

paulloz 2018-08-16 20:02

Well… How can I begin?

That is a wonderful game, I think that's undeniable. Your writing is top notch, the graphics and sound fit perfectly with it, and on top of that you even went through the trouble of making both a French AND an English version during the jam.

I'm now stuck in this weird melancholic feeling between being very sad and somewhat happy. A kind of feeling only good (great?) storytellers are able to instil.

Put in a nuthsell: your game is probably the best one I played during this Ludum Dare. It is both a good and a bad thing. The good is obvious, the bad is because I kind of feel like this about you right now: Sans titre.png

5/5

shell-pirate 2018-08-16 20:21

This game was the artistic (if that is even the proper label for it) entry of Ludum Dare for me. The graphics and music work so well to create this cozy yet sad atmosphere it left me feeling bittersweet almost immediately. The writing is really good and I would say its strongest feature is found in the main mechanic. It's rare to see a game work the writing and story into the gameplay as they're usually treated as two separate entities but having to piece together this person's life not only works on a mechanical level (keeping you intrigued thoughout and trying to group the memories) but also in a narritive sense because it really manages to put you into the protagonist's shoes. It's really quite a simple but clever way to tie story and gameplay together and you did it really well. I can't say much other than maybe make it easier to figure out the criteria for grouping each set of memories, or perhaps make messing up more forgiving. I might just be dumb or it's too late at night to be playing a game this thought-involving lol. Overall, I congratulate you on crafting an engaging narritive experience in a LD entry, that is no small accomplishment!

blinkenlights 2018-08-16 21:15

Une joue trés jolie. A beautiful game, not too different from mine in inspiration, but one that tells a story rather than provide you with a puzzle. It's heart-wrenching to get a memory wrong, having it be lost for all eternity... c'est une idée trop triste. All in all, a very artistic game, although I didn't find it 'fun' per say. (Corriges-moi STP, je veux entraine ma francais terrible. XD)

namnam 2018-08-16 23:07

Thanks @shell-pirate I really like what you've seen in my game :) @blinkenlights thanks too for your comment and if i have to correct you : " Un très joli jeu" et "Je veux entraîner mon mauvais français" ^^

blinkenlights 2018-08-17 05:17

Hahahahaha, merci beaucoup!

alex-brull 2018-08-17 10:06

Wow, this game made me speechless for a moment. It's very touching. The music is great too. Well done !

dyzzyd 2018-08-17 11:19

louckousse 2018-08-17 14:41

What a great idea and an incredible realization. It's a really great work. I didn't expect to get that kind of feelings during a jam game.

pnghasemi 2018-08-17 16:26

I really liked the art style and the mood. At first, I was like, what should I do, but then I could not stop following the story. Nice and cill game!

jamesolivermusic 2018-08-17 17:41

Nice work! beautiful art work, brilliant sound design.

artemisia 2018-08-17 17:59

Your game is really cool, the way you used the theme for narration is amazingly smart!

Vraiment bien joué!

trozen 2018-08-18 02:09

This is a really beautiful game. Thank you for making it.

antoined73 2018-08-18 02:27

Wow.

norrimo 2018-08-18 10:30

It touches my heart. Thank you really for this because it has addressed issues with which I can identify well. It's really magical how such tiny games can touch people. Maybe because they are made with so much heart and express the own experience, the own struggle with life and they are maybe a mirror for the one who have created that. That may be the reason why we do and like art. To express ourselves and to find ourselves in that. I have a bit this feeling that I can see the human behind this story.

Anyway it's overall a great game. I have only one thing which I found improvable. I had the impression that the memories with Camilie are the most of memories which exist. But other thoughts seemed to have no obvious connection to others. So I had many slots wich I used only once. Maybe an indication how many connecting thoughts you got and how many more you need could be good. Nice entrry. One of the most loving stories I have read so far at the LD. Keep doing such things!

By the way, we have had a really similar concept. We have also done a game that plays in the mind, but it's maybe more abstract I guess. :D

lucien-catonnet 2018-08-18 13:15

Hey! It's been a while! This is a really interesting game, I love how you managed to do so much with so little. I'm kind of disappointed by the fact that categorizing one memory wrong leads to the whole timeline being erased, I understand why it fit your design but it felt too punitive, especially in the context of a gameplay that is pretty fuzzy (I mixed up a memory of a doctor prescribing water sport and the retirement home, I feel like I had no way of knowing those were two separate timelines). I liked the writing too (I played in french), although at first I was worried about the depiction of girls (also gay people) but then realized they were the views of the character at that age, which made sense in a way. It's too bad I couldn't get to read the three timelines I messed up :/ Still, congratulations !

randomphantom 2018-08-18 14:15

The narrative and especially the music is really giving me the chills (it does faintly reminds me of some familiar soundtrack), however I'm not sure how to actually play this right as it seems hard to distinguish the memories from each other (which is probably intended) A misstyped letter messes things up though, perhaps allowing backspace to be used would help things. The graphics are well done and emotionally resonating. Nice to see more LD entries like this, great job!

namnam 2018-08-18 14:38

@lucien-catonnet Yup, you're totally right about your critics, the game is too punitive even if in a way it forces the player to be really careful and to really pay attention, it can break the calm mood and be too frustrating. I get that a lot about the pool / retirement memory and for some others memories, i think I will add an other version with more hints for those which are too ambiguous.

bichodust 2018-08-18 21:30

Love the music, love the art and love the game. The depth narrative is amazing. It even change my mood while playing it. Now I'm sad... But the game is amazing. Thank you for making it @namnam.

jern 2018-08-19 10:44

The concept of the game made it super interesting to explore. Finding ways to bucket thoughts and feelings was such a unique experience. The way the buckets would explore different timelines, the overlap between them, and the image the story paints of this person's life. Was truly a comfy and mind-picking experience.

darylsteak 2018-08-19 15:11

The mood and atmosphere of this game was superb, nice and calm as you went through this guys life. The typing mechanic was also something new and interesting, which I liked. Although I really sucked at sorting those memories.

chronicbite 2018-08-19 15:18

I loved the story, so cute and charming, you did a great job! congrats

badabooom63 2018-08-19 17:50

Untitled.png Loved this game! Interesting type mechanic and story! Was quite hard for me, sometimes wasn't quite sure about label, because didn't want to break anymore (after I broke first one). Maybe you shoul do it a little bit easier, like 3 attemps for each jar? Anyway - perfect entry

somuch 2018-08-19 18:41

Super unique and what an emotional roller coaster. Making it punishing forces you to think what fits where and put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist. Very well done. A little criticism, the English version has some spelling and grammatical errors that make it hard to understand the context of certain situations. The French version is fine though so good job :)

ithildin 2018-08-20 01:20

Beautiful and emotional entry... Music has a melancholic vibe that suits the tone and the narrative perfectly, with clear, detailed graphics.

I loved the "connected memories" mechanic in addition to the limited space, I found that the core idea was very original and powerful, not to mention that it fits the theme perfectly.

It would be interesting to see what each of us used for labels. I sucked at it, unfortunately, but it's pretty late now and I want to try it again tomorrow.

One of my favourite entries so far, congratulations!

PS: I spotted a few typos on the English version, that would be my only complain.

polyducks 2018-08-20 20:20

A lovely game with an interesting mechanic and story. Sometimes the paragraphs don't contain enough content to link them together, and that makes a trial and error situation. Other than that, a really pretty, atmospheric game.

amba 2018-08-21 01:55

5/5 On all scores. Wow, where to start. Every things is very well polished, the mechanics, the story, the style, the graphics and the music choice. This game is unique in the jam. It's atmospheric and emotional, not a lot of the game are like this in this jam. It's a new way on storytelling.

yojammerjammer 2018-08-22 06:26

Very interesting gameplay.

kiirohanabi 2018-08-22 16:39

Wow!

bibilega 2018-08-25 10:30

I like this game! The last memory gives me a creeps. Amazing story!

n-feofentov 2018-09-01 19:57

Just brilliant! Lovely story and clever gameplay. Thanks for such an experience.

andrei9 2018-09-03 13:33

I liked the Graphics, and the Gameplay was fun, Nice Game.
